The worst lack of customer service of my life. I went here today because I was shopping on my birthday. So I wore leggings and a shirt and wasn't super grumpy or anything which should be irrelevant. However I was literally pushed out of the way by one worker so she could try to make a sale. No one asked me if I wanted help just lots of acting like I wasn't there. I bought foundation because I was out, then drove across the street to sephora and spent the rest of my birthday money. I booked an appointment with Ana @a.wrightstylist at Ulta Beauty for a photoshoot for my upcoming podcast, "Are You There Midlife? It's me, Monica." I brought in pics of the makeup look I was going for--lots of highlighting, contouring, a nude lip and dramatic eyes and lashes. (I showed her some pics of the Real Housewives, Jlo and Khloe Kardashian, lol.) Ann gave me EXACTLY what I requested. I love coming into ULTA in Temecula. The first time I came in, Ilissa helped color match me and even recommended a lipstick. I've never been too into lipstick, but ever since that day I started wearing it more often and adventuring into that world! Definitely do not go in just for one thing 15 minutes before closing. You will be met with rudeness at the fact that you dared to run in for some brush cleaner so close to closing time. Instead of the usual greeting of hi welcome i got a this is our early day so we close in 15 minutes, I said oh no problem I just need some brush cleaner every person who walked in after me got a hello and a welcome. One star is waaaay too much for this salon! I walked in with bleach blonde wanting highlights and brown tones walked out with chocolate brown hair that looks like box hair dye. Contacted them the next day for a refund and they said they would look at pictures and fix it! Long story short when I tried to make my appointment I was on hold for HOURS!!! Didn't realize we have an Ulta store in our little town until I saw this store just a week ago. I had to wait a week to come here on my day off just to check it out. Goodness, I was in heaven! I always wanted Ulta to be close to home and here it is! It also seems like this store just opened a few weeks ago. This is also the biggest Ulta store I've seen in my life and I'm loving it. I took my sweet time checking every isle to see what they have in store. I was there for at least an hour just browsing, thinking if I should buy something to give as presents. But, instead, I found something for myself. The place is really neat & tidy as it just opened - very well-organized. Lots of sales since it's the holiday season. (Wish I knew about this place before. I could have bought half my Christmas presents in this store.) They even have a beauty salon at the very back of their store. Which I found pretty cool. There were a few people who asked me for helped if I needed any help to look for something which was nice bc it shows that they are very attentive to their customers. I recently got my eyebrows done with Cynthia at the Benefit Brow Bar. The best brow service ever. Friendly, patient, genuinely pleasant (not fake, I'm not really listening to a word you're saying nice). I'm usually quite intimidated by the beautiful people that work in stores like this, but Cynthia wasn't intimidating at all. I felt like I was getting my brows done by a beautiful friend! After waxing and plucking, Cynthia fixed up my make up and darkened my super light brows with brow gel, thank god because it looks like I have no eyebrows if not darkened and no eyebrows on my face makes me look like a weirdo nobody wants to look like a weirdo. I highly recommend Cynthia at the Temecula Ulta Benefit Bar if you are a bit too furry around the eyes. I guarantee you won't look like a weirdo when you leave! This is a horrible location. Their official website lists hours until 9pm. That is also what is posted on the window. A half dozen papers stuck on the window about masks and distancing but nothing posted about modified hours - and if you get there at 7 despite their hours posted until 9, they will not help you. Denied. They don't lock the door as they assist their last customers either, they just inform you in unison when you walk in "We're closed". Go to Menifee. Nicer and managed better. read more

What brings me into Ulta instead of the Sephora around the corner is a matter of intimidation. At Sephora, it seems every member of the staff there dons Instagram style makeup on the daily and leaves me feeling a little underdressed to even step inside...not to mention the glaring overhead lighting that, while ideal for in-store selfies, aren't exactly gentle on the eyes. It's just too much. Ulta though...for me, they're just right. Softer lighting, less edge, and much more approachable. And though there are always a few individuals with poreless, picture perfect, airbrushed looking faces, there are plenty of faces with more subdued, natural looking makeup and that just makes me feel more welcome because I don't feel out of place. The makeup they wear doesn't scream "This is part of my uniform!," at Ulta so, thanks for that. They have the products I love (minus one I can only get online or at a salon) at prices that beat out any grocery store or big box retailer and I always leave feeling thoroughly assisted. A bit unhappy with my experience today. Right off the bat, no greeting or a customer service employee assisting us. Walked in, security looking at us walk every single step; then made a lap around the store when we went to aisles further towards the back, making this experience uncomfortable beyond words. Continued to look for products and had employees just stare at us without walking up or asking if we needed help finding something. They instead continued to have conversations with eachother while continuing to stare at us and walk towards every aisle we were in. Unfortunate because i've been an Ulta Rewards Member for years, spending at least $50 - $100 a month. Told the young lady at the counter my concern and issue with how no one was helpful during our visit and in response got a, "Oh, sorry. Haha.". It's unfortunate. As someone who's worked in HR, i've dealt with situations similar to this and can see why positive customer service is such an important factor for companies. I recommend some type of interactive Anti-Bias Training since whatever has been done in the past clearly isn't working. This Temecula location needs work as this is not my 1st time experiencing this at this store; props to the Menifee location for such wonderful staff! Will most likely not be at this location anytime in the future due to poor customer service towards shoppers. read more
