I came in intending to purchase a bottle of Dior cologne, but the associate standing at the Dior display never acknowledged me or even looked up. As a result, I'll be taking my business to Macy's instead. The one bright spot of my visit was the African American young lady with the twistty hairstyle. I recently visited your store to pick up my daughter's birthday gift from her Ulta account. I hadn't received a message about the birthday freebie, but when I asked at the front, the associate directed me to select it from an area she referred to as "closest to the wall." I wasn't familiar with that term and asked for clarification, but her response wasn't very clear. I assumed she meant the drawers behind the counter, so I walked in the direction she pointed. At that point, another associate loudly said, "Ma'am, don't come behind the register. If you need something, we can get it." While I fully understand the policy about not going behind the register, the tone and volume made both me and my two young daughters feel as though we were doing something wrong. The overall interaction felt unwelcoming, as though we were being treated like we were attempting to take something rather than simply redeeming the birthday gift. Ultimately, we did receive the item, but the experience left my daughter feeling upset on her birthday. I believe the situation could have been handled with more patience, clear communication, and a friendlier attitude from the staff. As a long-time customer, I hope that Ulta can encourage better customer service so that future experiences feel positive, especially for something as special as a birthday celebration. read more

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at the Ulta in The Woodlands. I came in with a bride-to-be (who is disabled), her two young nieces, her mother, and myself--a professional makeup artist with 25 years of experience, recently "retired". I was simply there to help her find the perfect wedding look and assist with product selection. At first, the staff was kind. Since the bride is disabled, they allowed her to sit in a makeup chair in the corner while we tested products. I was respectful of the space, used only Ulta's disposable tools like Q-tips, and kept everything clean as we worked. We were clearly planning to spend around $500 on products. Then, out of nowhere, the manager approached us and very curtly demanded I vacate the seat because it was "reserved for Ulta artists"--despite the fact that no one had used the area for over an hour, and there were two other completely empty makeup stations right next to us. I explained the situation and asked for just 5 more minutes. She only relented with extreme reluctance. I was doing all the work of promoting and applying their products, helping my friend choose what to purchase. But after being treated so rudely and made to feel unwelcome, we cut our purchase in half and went to Sephora instead to buy the rest--nearly $300 worth of makeup. This experience left me horrified. No customer, especially one with a disability, should be treated with such a lack of respect. read more

AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! Purchased Pureology shampoo and conditioner with $5 off coupon with total receipt charged to my cc $72.53. Person who rang up my purchase asked for my phone number for my Ulta rewards. HOWEVER, SHE DIDN'T BOTHER TO APPLY MY POINTS. Only learned of this after she finished my purchase NOT realizing that she didn't apply my points automatically nor did she even ask me if I even wanted to use my points of which were due to expire. Requested she apply so I didn't lose out of $8 that I earned of which was due to expire and would be LOST FOREVER! So, to apply my points, it took THREE ADDITIONAL RECEIPTS to rectify this issue! Stupidity! All while I'm charged again to my cc and then finally a credit that I pointed out to them that I will now need to wait for their system to credit because we all know how they love to charge us, but then it takes them 7 plus days for our credits/returns to even show up on our cc. 1. So they rang me up a return of my original receipt followed with a purchase that actually netted a $0.00 balance and still NO POINTS APPLIED. 2. Charged me again and applied the $5 off coupon credit manually and then deducted the $8 points that was due to expire. Second cc charge $63.86. 3. Told them they still double charged me and then they again returned the original purchase again for a credit of $72.53! Yikes, this store gives me anxiety. The makeup sections are so disorganized and empty no matter what day and time I come. They're always out of stock. And if you're coming here to test makeup, go somewhere else. The testers are always missing or they just don't have any out, so I can never swatch anything, just have to guess when it comes to matching makeup here. Their makeup brush section is so messy, confusing and never stocked. The morphe section is always empty. Only giving 2 stars because I never have a problem in the hair products section. DO NOT GET YOUR MAKEUP DONE HERE!!! If I could give negative stars I would. I was scheduled for a 3:15 everyday makeup session, I showed up at 3:15, and was not seen to until almost 3:25. I had an event to get to at 5:00 pm and had to leave at 4, I made this known. My "artist" was not ready for me and we had to walk around the store to get supplies, I do not know if this is standard practice. I made my preferences known and she was either not listening or not taking them into consideration. The makeup application itself was an absolute disaster, she mixed a primer and a not at all match tinted moisturizer that should not have gone together, and as she was applying it, it was melting off my face, streak, patchy and ugly. I asked her to start over, unfortunately with the same result. By this time I had to leave for my event. So, told her to wipe everything off, I had to rush to BUY NEW MAKEUP AND BRUSHES to attempt to fix the bad job she did and did it myself in the parking lot. Then when I asked if they could undo that & give me a gift card they told me they couldn't reverse it. The "associate manager" said the cashier was inexperienced and that it was her fault and she was sorry. Then the manager got involved and told me it was my fault for not stating before that I wanted a merchandise card. And that was all they offered for the mistake. Why would anybody return an item using a GIFT receipt, and expect the money to be given back to the original purchaser? What's the purpose of a gift receipt then? I booked an appointment to have my daughter's hair curled before a big event. Her hair is super straight so we booked the appointment thinking they could put something in her hair to hold the curl longer than if we did it at home. We arrived early, the person checking us in was also the person doing her hair. She didn't seem to excited to be doing a 12 year olds hair. Before she began on my daughter another lady came up asking to book a haircut for her girls. The stylist said "No one has any openings we are all booked" Then someone came from the back and was able to look at the schedule and book something for them. I should have listened to my gut and walked. My daughter was in the chair for 15 min...tops. The stylist basically used a curling iron 4 or 5 times on her hair. When I expressed my disappointment the stylist just said "Sorry your not happy" and went on talking to a coworker. I went to the front to check out, asked if I wanted to leave a tip. I said nope. They asked what was wrong, looked at my daughter's hair and said, we can get someone else to fix it. I knew the only person that wasn't busy was the one that half assed my daughter's hair. Nope. They didn't even offer a discount. I will never come here for a service and told everyone at her event Saturday evening to do the same. I was warned that the girls here are rude as hell from multiple people, but decided maybe I could give it a try. I called today to see if they could accept walk-ins for eyebrows. The number I called was an automated system. It said "for salon and eyebrows appointments press 1" so I did. The girl picked up, and I asked about eyebrow walkins. I was replied to with curtly "this is the salon." Ok? So can you help me? Or direct me to someone who can? And before I could say anything, was put back on hold. At this point, I was a little surprised at the short rude answer, but whatever right? Then I'm on hold 5 more minutes, and I get the eyebrow station. Her response to me asking if they accept walkins "Ummm no we don't accept walk-ins. Also, it's Friday." Very sarcastically. Are you effing kidding me? I usually never like to write reviews or anything but there's something about this specific location that reminds me why not to go there. I work at the opposite shopping center so usually I go to Ulta after work (I don't look my best) and every single time I go there's always one person following me around the store as if I'm going to steal something. On the first occasion i thought maybe I'm being crazy, but every time I would turn into different aisles there would the the same person that was at the aisle. Even if I move form high end to the drugstore aisle. And she would ask me a question to play it off. I felt super uncomfortable and made me not want to go back. But since it's so convenient and close to me I went again and the same thing happened. This gentleman kept following me around the store and pretended to organize and to put stuff back but I would noticed Him watching my every move. It's such a uncomfortable experience. My wife scheduled an appointment to have her makeup done for her 40th birthday party at Ulta. Despite the fact that she scheduled two weeks in advance, we received a call ON HER BIRTHDAY informing us that they could not do it at the time she requested. They expected her to change her appointment from 5:30pm, to 1:00pm. Now, I am a man, I don't wear makeup, but even I found this request to be incredibly stupid. Apply makeup 6 or 7 hours in advance? Seriously? What was the reason? They had a stylist call in sick, so they were switching over to have them do hair. In other words, they could make more money doing hair than makeup, so my wife's appointment meant nothing to them. Well, we called another Ulta location, they got her in at 5:30pm. She was kept waiting an extra 20 minutes, was tricked into paying $60.00 instead of the agreed upon $45.00. She was told it was "formal" makeup, even though it looked like a totally normal and rather plain job that anyone could do. On top of that, the girl doing the work, Zoe, was running back and forth between my wife's makeup and another woman's hair. Ulta is just another over hyped chain of fast food style services. Customers are merely treated as numbers and not people. This was a rip off, and we will not be doing business with them again. There are dozens of small businesses and honest, passionate people who care about the craft of looking good, and style. They deserve our money and our patronage. ULTA deserves nothing. read more

There was a lady with black hair, kind of short (wish I knew her name, she was so nice!), that was working on the floor that helped me with products and brushes! IF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE ZERO STARS I WOULD I made an appointment at the salon for a MINIMAL cut and a baylage. When I arrived they threw me with KYLE(not the stylist I had an appointment with) I didn't make a big deal about it and sat down in his chair. When I was explaining what I wanted him looked very confused. I told him that I had been growing out my hair for 2 years so that it would be long and healthy before I dyed it again. I asked him to cut off 3 inches MAX and I stressed that keeping my length was very important to me. Again looking confused and nervous he pulled all of my hair behind my back and cut off 8 INCHES! I was appalled but I tried to stay positive because hair grows right...wrong I should have gotten up and ran right then and there but I let him continue with the color. long story short it took him 5 hours to give me brassy and unblended HIGHLIGHTS (not what I asked for) there were so many missed spots and blunt edges and when I brought them to his attention his solution was to 1st argue with me and then proceed to slap 40 volume bleach directing onto my hair and scalp which obviously burned my scalp. Then instead of rinsing my hair properly he made me lean over the sink while he sprayed me with the hose. BLEACH WAS RUNNING DOWN MY FACE. I left in tears. My hair is ruined. I had to go back the next day for an additional 5 hours for them to "fix" my hair. Before the service we discussed they would fix it and give me a full refund but instead the "fixed" my hair and then decided to say that I would only be getting half of my money back because I was now "happy with my hair" exhausted and emotionally drained from this whole experience I accepted this but that isn't fair. I was made to pay $120 to have all of my hair chopped off, and damaged only to leave with it the same color I entered with. PLEASE! Do not spend your hard earned money at this salon. They will ruin your hair. And KYLE had zero remorse for ruining my hair. This is the worst salon experience Ive ever had. So bad that I wont even be shopping at ULTA ever again. I guess I looked suspicious upon first looks but I've never stolen a day in my life--My friend started shopping and as she did, I noticed that 3-4 employees started following me from all directions (being that I have nothing to hide nor was I stealing I just brushed it off because it's their job to do that) and the manager kept staring at me. She knew what she was doing. She even had them stand by the doors to watch me (knowing I hadn't done anything wrong) Here's my problem with this, BE PROFESSIONAL!!! I work in retail so for this GROWN WOMAN to be laughing, making a complete buffoon of herself, and acting in an immature way, baffles me. She's setting a terrible example for her employees. I'm really surprised about the lack of customer service at this location being that it is pretty much brand new. Most locations I walk into, there are plenty of associates asking if you need help, but not this location. I was probably there about 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged me and by that time I didn't even bother asking them for help, I just left. The layout of the store seems small as if they don't have as much to offer as other locations. I noticed NARS was recently added at another location but did not see it here.
