I went shopping here with my cousin and little sister as I was babysitting them for the weekend. I was testing out some dry shampoos to see how they smelled. A sales lady in a pink coat came up to me and aggressively took the cans and said "I'm taking these!! I can't sell them now because you sprayed them and ruined them. They're not testers" she rolled her eyes and grumbled, but the cans i sprayed had "tester" stickers on them. I was appalled because it seems like she's a manager also. she was wearing a pink coat and was overseeing people. She also sent 3 people to check on us after that. I'm assuming she thought we were going to test out more products so she wanted to keep an eye out. when i went to check out she personally watched the entire transaction and glared at me the whole time. all of it felt mostly like she thought i was going to steal simply because i was spraying testers??? be so real. half of the products in that ulta are empty anyway from other people doing what she had accused me of doing. She also refused to give me her name so I could file a complaint. So if anyone knows a woman with brown hair who works at this ulta that has eyebrows that look like they were drawn on with a brown crayola washable marker, let me know so i can get her name. I gave this store one star because although she was absolutely demonic with her behavior, the cashier was so sweet! While I was searching for a new foundation because my skin has been dry lately. Celina a representative came to help. And help she did. She asked me what my skin regimen was and guided me to clinique's products to help dry skin. ( 3 step intro kit ) she let me know about the trial sizes if I wasn't sure about the product. This review is for the salon. I've been there 3 times now, with undesired results. #1 I came in to get a layered cut on long hair and a new undercut style. I had exact pictures of what I wanted. The stylist raved about her ability to do layers. I ended up with too many and choppy layers, not like the picture. It ended up growing out okay. I had an exact picture of the SMALL triangle undercut I wanted, with a design she told me she could do. I ended up with a WIDE, rounded undercut from side to side and a few uneven lines cut in clippers. It'll take me forever to grow out for the right shape. #2 I booked an appointment with a different stylist for an all-over color and again, a simple design for my undercut. With this trim being $25, I confirmed she could do the design (otherwise I could have had it simply shaved at home). I chose a dark brown. She did my roots for 20 minutes, then the rest of my hair for 15. I ended up with dark roots and medium brown hair with auburn streaks. I don't know why this is the practice at Ulta. They do it at every Ulta I've been to, and my roots don't match the rest. She shaved my undercut, and agin, I got an uneven caveman design, nothing like the picture. #3 The stylist scheduled me back 2 days later for a color correction with a hair tint(?), free of charge, because I wasn't happy with my results. It actually came out great, but I was told it'd last 2-3 months, and it started fading back to that auburn color in 3 weeks. The customer service was nice, and I appreciated the free color correction, but I'm pretty fed up with paying a fortune for the wrong thing. A stylist should be upfront if they do not have the skills to create the desired look. read more

I was shopping with my niece when a sales person came up, and offered us to get a 10 dollar haircut, and a 10 dollar facial. So We did it. I cut was just a neck clean up. For the facial the lady hurt my nieces piercing, and she didn't tell us what products she used so we could buy the products, when I got to the front to pay they charged me 20 dollars for the cut. Beware about returns. I tried to return an item one week after I bought it. Had receipt. Nothing had been opened. They would not accept a return unless I set up an account with all my personal info. What's wrong with a receipt? Service is inconsistent. One time staff were friendly and helpful. Another time they were all goofing off ignoring the customers. Line is usually slow. They were on short supply for some items I wanted...had the tester colors but then several colors I wanted to purchase they didn't actually have available for sale. I'm a platinum Ulta member -I've shopped their stores all over California and Arizona. I came a few times during the soft opening week for this location. They had gaps in inventory they said would be filled for grand opening. Some staff seemed very unfamiliar with Ulta rewards, app and website. And other staff unfamiliar with the products they carried. I also had to educate staff on what coupons they accepted. Came to grand opening for the inventory they advised would be available-and wasn't in. Was told it was out of stock with Ulta. Went home and ordered on website. I understand new location but been to other grand openings and found those stores more coordinated and staff prepared. read more

I just came to this location looking for a specific product in a line they carry. They didn't have it in Macy's or Sephora so I tried Ulta. At the first two locations the employees were very prompt in greeting me with eye contact and a smile and asked if they could help. I walk into Ulta and there's 4+ employees chatting amongst themselves. I get eye contact and zero help and greeting. I see they don't have what I'm looking for and walk past two employees again that don't bother to even say hello and I walk out without a single person (who was not at all busy with anything or anyone) saying hello or goodbye. They have all been very nice and helpful, sometimes a bit too helpful with the can I help you thing but if you've worked in retail it is required or you get in trouble. Extremely disappointed. Each time I go in I feel like I'm being watched and it's ridiculous. I was in the other day with my teens and a lady followed us and watched us the entire time. I nicely asked her if she thought we were up to no good, I was being funny trying to lighten her up- she responded with a no and that she just wanted to know if we needed anything. It was honestly uncomfortable and I can't stand going in because of this. My kids and I have spent a lot of money there but will not continue if this continues. I have been here a year ago for a color fix and the women did great. I came back because i had a wedding. The manager i guess did my hair. I came in w dirty hair because i was always told to do that. She said she didnt know if she had time to cut my hair but she washed and dried it first which was weird then in the middle of doing my hair w bleach in my hair she tells me its going to be almoat two hundred dollars. I said i dont want a cut im not paying two hundred dollars then she tells me no itll be 176. I say ok whatever. My hair is at my shoulders! All she did was put blonde highlights and i asked for chuncky highlights and i didn't get that! At the end of everything i was charged 186 i gave a 10 dollar tip. 200 dollars for just blonde highlights on short hair! Ive never paid that much in my life and i didn't even get what i wanted! Love this place! I was so happy to see one open here in Redding. They have a great mix of high and lower end products. The staff is helpful. They are rarely out of the stuff I need when I go. I have quite a bit to say about this store. I was so excited when after I moved her I saw a sign that ulta was opening up. Either I get bombarded with the girls trying to push me to buy products even when I say no, or I am completely ignored. I feel like I'm being judged if I want to use a coupon or return something I didn't like. I always check online first to see if what it is that I need is in stock in this store. If it is, I go to get it but every time it is not stocked. If I ask about it, they will say "... oh I can check in the back....." being very reluctant or want to look. Either the website is wrong (which I doubt since everything is tracked) or they have stocking issues and the employees not doing their job. I feel like the employees are pretentious and I won't be giving my money to this store anymore. I will go in to try something I may want but will be ordering online from now on.
