Title: Disappointing Experience at the Salon: Discrimination, Unprofessionalism, Damage to Clothing, and False Claims
Review:
I recently had a truly unpleasant experience at the salon that left me feeling humiliated, shamed, and discriminated against. I had visited the salon previously to color my hair, but unfortunately, the initial coloring resulted in a shade that was far too blonde for my dark complexion. This forced me to schedule a second appointment to correct the color.
On the day of my appointment, I arrived promptly at 3:45, accompanied by my daughter. While I was waiting, one of the staff members offered me tea, and I gladly accepted. I politely asked if I could quickly step out to the neighboring establishment to get something for my hungry daughter to eat, which would have taken no more than 6-7 minutes.
To my surprise, the staff member's demeanor suddenly turned rude and condescending. When I returned, I was informed that my appointment was being canceled due to a lack of time and that my daughter was not allowed inside the salon. This came as a shock to me because I had brought my daughter to this salon on numerous occasions in the past, and she had even received haircuts here, which the salon happily provided as a service. My daughter is 12 years old, well-behaved, and has never caused any disruptions.
Seeking a resolution, I spoke with the manager and explained my previous positive experiences bringing my daughter to the salon. After some reluctance, Courtney, the stylist, agreed to at least provide half of the services since I needed gloss and tone. Despite assuring them that my daughter could wait outside or in the car, I eventually brought her inside the salon during the middle of my service.
Expressing my frustration, I mentioned that their actions seemed discriminatory and even suggested they could sue me for bringing my daughter inside the salon. In response, Courtney threw a small towel at me, told me to take my belongings, and asked me to leave. Adding insult to injury, she called me a liar, stating that my daughter couldn't possibly be 12 years old, which is indeed her correct age. Based on this incorrect assumption, she accused me of not following salon rules.
Furthermore, I was shocked when the stylist claimed that the owner had explicitly stated that children were not allowed in the salon. This was an outright lie, as the salon had never previously mentioned any such policy to me. Moreover, the salon has ample seating both inside and outside, making the owner's claim that the salon was too small to accommodate children completely unfounded.
To make matters worse, during the process of coloring my hair, the stylist accidentally stained my favorite blouse with hair coloring. This further added to my disappointment and frustration with the salon's lack of professionalism and attention to detail.
In my attempt to address the issues, I spoke directly with the owner, explaining that I had only been 6-7 minutes late, contrary to the misinformation that I was 20 minutes late. Unfortunately, Courtney had another appointment and claimed that I had disrespected her.
My experience at the salon was disheartening and deeply disappointing. I felt discriminated against as a mother, was publicly shamed for providing my daughter with a quick snack, my favorite blouse was ruined due to their negligence, and false claims were made regarding the salon's policy on children.
I hope that sharing my experience encourages the salon management to reflect on their practices, treat all customers with respect, ensure that discriminatory incidents are never repeated, and address the issue of false claims made by their staff. It is essential for businesses to maintain honesty and integrity while providing quality service to their customers. read more
