Store remodel looks great! One can at least see all the products more easily. Customer associates at check out could be kinder and more cordial. Salon staff needs to be trained better and even the head stylists did not get the haircut right. Absolutely abysmal customer service from my interaction with the horrid lady named Kylie! She was very very very disrespectful and dismissive to me and my daughter it actually upset my little girl. Kristy is a LIFESAVER at the salon. I went to another Ulta Salon and got a terrible unfinished haircut that had me in tears. It was the opposite of what I asked for. Deceiving customers with free gifts for Black Friday and then you find out that only certain stores received them not all of them. I showed up right when my local one opened on black friday 2025. Made my purchases to qualify for my free gift and was told they did not have any and never received them at all. This is very wrong. Came in for a pick up order, stood in line with my daughter in my arms. Lady standing behind the counter doing nothing, asks if I'm ready to check out or whatever she said. Told her I was there for a pick up and she said the lady at the end can help me. The look she gave me after was a snarky look and not the best attitude. Don't know if it's because I was holding my baby or what but it's uncalled for especially for someone standing there doing nothing. Smile and loose the attitude and dirty look because you're working in customer service. It doesn't matter how the customer looks or what they're there for. Pick up lady was decent. If you have a full bed truck, don't bother trying to do the curb pickup. They have cinder block sign that takes up a lot of space. I went to the Ulta Salon for the first time today and had a great experience! Sydney H gave me a blowout, I have pretty thick hair and 1 row of weft extensions and she was so sweet and gentle. This Ulta got very bad reviews but was in my area & I needed something for as a had a date in an hour. I walked in & walked around the store for 5 minutes no staff member acknowledged my existence & I couldn't find what I was looking for. I finally asked an associate where something was while she showed me where the Milani section was. I was asking her a question & when I turned back around she was gone. She was in another aisle laughing with a coworker. I guess playing around with your coworkers is more important than helping a paying customer ‍. This Ulta has to be the worst Ulta you can possibly visit, you will enter the store without be acknowledged, unless they are closing. They will be sure to let you know they're closing soon and they'll be happy to start helping you so they can get you out of the store as soon as possible. I just recently visited today @7:45 because this is the only store that's close to me that has a Chanel counter.... however, the girl that is usually there is extremely rude and a selective as to who she wants to help which is against chanel policy and ULTA policy. luckily she is off today and wasn't able to make me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I was immediately (just as i expected) approached with "just so you know, we close in 10min" even though it was actually 15min. The store was also very dark to make you feel like you should leave and stop shopping. I needed to make an exchange and was met with ostracizing behavior, even though i was perfectly within the policy. after MANY manager "overrides" i left with my exchanged item. as i leave, i met the most condescending store manager, Renee who was snarling guests and children for testing products as i was picking my exchanges. I find that this location often discriminates against people who need more help, trying on testers and shop in the last hour of the store, especially Renee and the Chanel counter girl. Most ignorant people you'll meet in your entire life and I've even caught these people talking about me behind my back to colleagues they work with. Renee said to me in a condescending voice "i heard you needed some help with the return, i hope they were able to help you out" Honestly, at this point, i asked her who she was and her title because i was ready to put her on blast. here it is. 0 stars if possible, never visit this store unless absolutely necessary. read more

In many visits here I've encountered employees where active listening isn't a strength which can make shopping for a specific product time consuming. After speaking to a few "consultants" I'll get the support needed however getting there can be avoided with good training. Note: Bring a picture of the product or speak to a seasoned employee for service. Words of advice to the employees, never start a response with "unfortunately", "I don't know" and "can't" it's a detractor and negative. I am quite a fan of Ulta and purchase on a regular basis. I was in the desert ridge area so I decided to stop in here and grab my birthday gift, my favorite hempz lotion and some curl cream for my daughters hair. I have to say I won't be visiting this location again. The service was not great, the associate I spoke to when I asked for assistance seemed to be bothered and after waiting in line for near 20 min I was asked twice to sign up for the credit card. No thank you was said both times and even then the girl reminded me how much I could save. I know how it is to work retail but pressuring someone to try and sign up for a credit card makes me less likely to want to shop there. This is the second time I have been to this location where I haven't felt like a valued customer. read more

Worst customer service ever. Today I made a $130 purchase of two Lancome products plus three eyebrow pencils. When I got home I saw that one of the Lancome boxes was empty. I called the store immediately and explained that the check out person, Kelsea, rang me up and mentioned that something had just fallen on her foot. She picked up the item and said "oh. that's not yours." Hey. Mistakes happen. When I called the store to ask for credit, offering to send a copy of my receipt, I was told that the manager said I could get credit only if I came back to the store. I said I did not want to spend $8 worth of fuel plus and hour of my time but the answer was still no. From now on my business goes to SEPHORA! read more

The store in general is very messy so it's never easy to find what I'm looking for. The management is lacking in training and customer service, especially Spencer. I'm not sure if he was the only person who showed up for the interview when they were hiring but definitely need to reconsider that position. His demeanor is subpar and his appearance, when I saw him, was appalling. Not sure how you can enforce any kind of dress code when you create mass chaos of lime green with black dots and lines on a buzz cut. I watched him embarrass one employee behind the counter in front of not only her other co-workers but in front of customers too. It's a shame he tried to pull a power play to make himself seem like a big man, but it definitely explains why I rarely see the women employees stay for a long time. I don't shop regularly at Ulta. It's just not as conveniently located for me like other places and prices seem to be a little higher. I've noticed that cosmetics are one of the things that are suddenly missing from store shelves, so I specifically made the trip to Desert Ridge. They normally have an overwhelming selection of beauty products and they were still extremely well-stocked. The associate that helped me (whose name I can't remember) was wonderful. She matched my skin tone perfectly with the style of product I was looking for. She listened to my very specific wants and she delivered exactly what I requested with no hard sell for a more expensive product. I'm not sure if it was the customer service or the product availability that brought in so many customers that day but my only complaint was the super long line to check out. read more

I booked my third appt with Giselle at the UltaSalon for a color and cut today. This elite stylist is a scientist and a magician with her hands of expertise! We went from light blond highlights to chocolate brown (5NCH) all over. It was quite the process but Giselle guided me all the way and added recommendations, I can always trust her. I usually shop at the Promenade location and have visited two other nearby locations by PV mall and Talking Stick but I will never step foot at the Desert Ridge location again! I'm not sure what happens at this ghetto location but the manager followed me in the store. I am highly educated, well-dressed, and live in an affluent neighborhood in North Scottsdale. I don't steal. I usually avoid this shopping center because of the high incidents of trafficking. This girl made me out to be a criminal because I am brown. She racial profiled me as soon as I stepped in with my bi-racial daughter. The white girl who I assume was the manager followed us discreetly. Never welcomed us. I used a dry shampoo on my daughter which looked like a tester since it had no cap on it. She ran over right away and said that's not a tester like I had committed a crime. She told me to look for a tester sticker next time. When I looked around nothing was a tester. Instead she told me I'm supposed to buy and return a product that doesn't work. Does this make sense? She told me she would need to damage out the product. Um hello? It had no cap! Guess it was damaged before we touched it! Ulta, train your employees and if you're having high theft at this location, don't racial profile! You bet I'll be telling all my friends about this incident and will take my business back to Nordstrom, Target, and Sephora. read more

If i could give NO stars I would. I went in store to return a few items I purchased online and I was refused a refund back to my debit card. The cashier was rude and told me my card is the problem. My bank said there is nothing wrong with my account and it is the merchants obligation to refund my money instead of giving me store credit. I am within the time of receiving a return. The cashier was rude and said 'it's only $12' I do not need to be judged by anyone. I am completely shocked that a sales person would have the audacity to say that to a customer. I have worked in retail and that is NO WAY to speak to a customer. I am entitled to receive a refund for money spent at your establishment If i am not completely satisfied with any product. I came in to treat myself with a blow out before going to work. I booked an appointment by calling. I was not quoted a price. When I walked into the salon, I was introduced to my stylist. I confirmed with him the price I saw online which was $27 for a blow out. The salon manager was there and corrected me by saying I was wrong. I agreed to have this gentleman style my hair for $37 dollars. My stylist was a very nice gentleman, but he lacked technique. Upon drying my hair, he did not put a heat protectant on and then did not use a concentrator either. I communicated to him that I wanted volume on top, which he was able to do. However, he didn't focus on my ends and my hair was left dry but barely styled at all. I didn't communicate this with the stylist because I didn't want to offend him while he was in the process of doing my hair. After my service was done I walked up to the front of Ulta and asked to speak with the salon MANAGER. She came out and asked me if she could fix it. I told her I was going to work and didn't have time. I told her I didn't feel comfortable paying for the service due to the lack of quality. She did not apologize. She looked at me, said "have a nice day" with an in-genuine tone and walked away. I communicated to her that I didn't want to get my stylist in trouble, as he was nice but I was not happy with the result. I work in the hospitality industry and have never been spoken to in a rude tone in a guest recovery situation by a manager. If you are going to be a manager, having a good attitude and treating your customers with respect is crucial, even if you don't agree with what is being said.. Went to the ulta desert ridge hair salon for a last minute blow out for a wedding. I had the best experience ever and Giselle absolutely made my day. She had a cancelation ahead of me so she took me in sooner and when she heard I'm going to a wedding she made my hair with the most beautiful curls I ever had.
