Today I went to the Desert Ridge location. Worst customer service EVER. I spent 20 minutes looking for an item while two employees eyed me but didn't offer assistance. After finally locating the item I went to check out. I noticed several employees chatting behind the counter. Again no one called me over to assist with check out. After waiting 10 minutes this one female rather tersely called me over. Not polite at all nor helpful. Usually I shop at Blue Mercury. Think I'll continue doing so after this less than positive experience. Too bad for you Ulta read more

I had not been to Ulta in a long time so I was happy to see that they carry a lot more brands than they used to. A few people asked us if we needed assistance while we were looking around so that was helpful. Masks are required and there are MANY signs indicating you can't touch samples or products. As other reviewers said they have a lot but they were out of many things too. I'm sure COVID has everything to do with that. My memory serves me right in that Ulta likes putting helpful people on the floor, and very few people by the cash registers. The line was about 7 customers long on a Saturday. The pleasantness of the cashier could be improved upon. We had three manufacturer's coupons for products we were purchasing. The cashier told us they only accept one coupon with each order! I asked why and she just ignored me. It's hard to justify coming here again when most of the things we bought we could have bought at Target or Sephora. read more

I had Terry do my hair this previous Sunday and let me say that while he was very nice, my hair turned out completetley BOTCHED!! I am so so so unhappy with my service...and on top of that he over charged me. I literally could have done this job myself for $5 not 160$!!!! Came in to see a few products and feel out the atmosphere as I am a cosmetologist looking for a change. The woman at checkout with the beautiful braids was absolutely wonderful, but the one who came up to help check people out was quite rude and short. She also said they did not offer a professional discount for cosmetologists which is the first I've heard visiting any Ulta store. Truthfully, I usually avoid Ulta since I'm not very good at doing my make-up, target is where I get most things such as a brow pencil and mascara. I really wanted to venture out and explore new products and Anna was so amazing and patient. I get nervous to ask a lot of questions since I could really use the help in the make-up department. She was kind and eager to help by politely asking if I was doing alright. After some thought I asked her about her favorite blush and she immediately showed me her favorites and offered me options based on what I liked. From there it went beyond blush to concealers etc. I am walking out of Ulta with the best experience because of Anna. She was so helpful and truly made coming to Ulta so much less stressful. Norterra north phx location way to snooty for me give me a break . Not friendly or genuine at all . Almost pushy I just want to look around price and smell perfumes and look at makeup et cetra . The girls here are very attentive and will try to help you from the moment you are inside the door, but I've been noticing that they're not well-stocked. At least not for my basic essentials, and that is very annoying. This is the second time I come here in the lapse of a couple of months and have not found what I needed. Today it was my Loreal Futur°E. I have been using it for a decade and I have always gotten it from ULTA. Note all if tyre sudden is very hard to find... Especially in this store. I always make an effort to come here to support the stores in my neighborhood, but today I'm gonna have to drive around to find what I need... And that's definitely annoying. Please stock Futur°E... I have to give this location for taking customer service to the next level. I don't get out often due to my health, but heard that the Jefree Star display was going to be live. Brought my daughters for the event only to find out I had wrong weekend. Clearly I was disappointed but this crew came to the ULTA rescue. The entire store was fab. I got a credit card. Some hair products and then Jared was specifically helpful helping me stock up on the Star Supply. Bringing me out the goods and allowed me to stock up on happiness. Thanks guys. You did good. Went in today and had $180 worth of products. Got in line, there was 3 of us and 1 cashier who was having issues. She may have been new. 2 other employees were standing chatting. No one acknowledged us or said they would be a minute. 13 minutes still waiting and the girl was having issues with a return. No eye contact, letting us know they would be longer.. 17 minutes I put the products at the counter and left. Going to Sephora tomorrow since I usually shop there and now remember why. read more

I came in to pick up my online order. They were busy so I looked around a bit and picked up a couple things. The staff was distracted due to only 2 people working and the store being filled with teens (one employee followed a bunch of them around and made it very obvious). I finally go up and make my purchase and pick up my stuff. The cashier asks for my id and says ok, here. She doesn't say is it right or anything. This is the third online order I have gotten from this location and it's been screwed up. I get home and I'm missing 2 items. I call the store and they say oh sorry it was done online you have to contact online. I'm like ok fine, I do that. The online people tell me no contact the store. At this point, I'm super irritated and just want a refund. I won't be returning to this location and probably won't be shopping at Ulta again!!!!!! read more

So I have never used the salon at Ulta before and since I wanted to do something different with my hair I thought I'd give them a try. I asked for the included photo I pulled from the internet. And received the other haircut. My stylist Tori was not very friendly from the beginning- but if someone gives me a great haircut who cares? When she made the first cut I commented how short she was cutting it. She said she had to because of my layers. She cut all my layers off then cut new ones. She even said something about "when we finish it all up and curl it it is going to look great!" She never curled it, never put any product in it or even asked about product and cut about 4 inches of my hair when 2 is what she showed me at the beginning. Manager told me that if I curl it it will look like the picture but that it was definitely shorter. Manager did seem genuinely concerned and agreed that I would not pay for it. I will never understand going to a salon and a stylist telling you to go home and style your hair like the picture you show them. That is why we are there!! I know a lot of people bring in pictures of hairstyles that their hair will not pull off. This was not the case. Thank goodness hair grows back, however this time it's going to take me years. Pat changed my life! I moved here in January of 2016 and have been to 2 salons. The first one was SUPER expensive and did a good job but didn't feel any connection to the stylist. The second one I went to felt warm and welcoming, but the 2nd time I went the color was way too light for my skin tone. I always see people in ULTA salons, so came to Yelp and did some research. Based on a review by Kitty, I saw that Pat does good work I went to see Pat. Sat in her chair and the first thing she said to me..."that color is not a good one for you". A-HA!!! Pat is a Master Designer and she is so very good at what she does! I received low lights and high lights to correct what the previous salon had done. After the color was applied, she washed my hair and cut it and had me away from the mirror the whole time. As soon as she spun around....voila! I LOVE my new hair color! She has been the only stylist to be able to match up some of my original hair color and I cannot believe how much i love it! The haircut I received was amazing too! It was such a quick 2 hours because Pat is truly someone you want to know and afterwards you are so glad you know her! She is the best!! She is so talented and creative and works with you to create the best version of you that you want. read more

I went to Ulta salon because I wanted a cheaper decent haircut. I got one of the worst haircuts I have ever received. My layers were terrible and when I got home I noticed my bangs weren't even trimmed properly. I think cost cutters would have done a better job. The stylist Tricia even stated that straight hair shows every mistake. Wow was she right. Too many layers on the right, on the left it looked ok. I will never go back. Stick with more experienced stylists at a more established salon with good reviews. read more

If you ask them anything they'll yell your question across the floor to coworkers for help - fully disclosing your question to the rest of the store. Ugh. I don't like Ulta and I am especially annoyed with this location. The layout is terrible and they are always out of everything! Seriously. I went in yesterday looking for Burberry Brit (entirely gone) and their fragrance section looked like a tornado hit it -- boxes and bottles everywhere -- and it was clear they were not in the middle of restocking the shelves. The service is better here than the one in North Scottsdale meaning I asked for help looking for an item and actually received help -- but the layout is enough to keep me away. So the other day I went to Ulta and I was trying to find a foundation that would work for my very dry skin since I have finally found a good skin care routine to help with it. I walked in and the first associate walked up to me was super helpful and understood that I was under a budget. And show me quite a few options in my price range. But then I started browsing around the store just to see what they had in the Lancôme lady decided to Asked me what I had in my basket and when I told her she told me that I needed to buy the Lancome versions of what I had already picked out she handed me a foundation that was $47, which is honestly out of my price range! She then decided to put it in my basket and I just said OK thank you and walked away. Knowing that I was going to go put it back she literally followed me around the entire store with no mask on!! Telling me that every product I was looking at the long conversion was 10 times better and then I shouldn't waste my money on cheap make up. When I went to go put the foundation back in its place, the one she put in my bag, she started to get all offended that I was not going with her choice. I honestly just walked away from the situation because I wasn't about to argue over foundation. And I honestly wouldn't be writing this review Right now because it really didn't bother me at first but after the last week of thinking about it I feel like I was kind of harassed. And I honestly will probably not be going back into that Ulta or just be doing curbside from now on. Beware of the Lancôme lady there! read more

The Desert Ridge store needs to consider that since they now close at 6 pm they need to stay open until 6 pm and not have the doors locked at 5:50 pm. Have some consideration for people that work and rush there before closing only to be locked out early. I needed to quickly pick up one thing but ended up having to go to Target instead. And I will continue to go there from now on. They don't lock their doors 10 minutes before closing. read more

So I couldn't even wait till I got to the car to leave this review. I typically spend on average a few hundred dollars every month at Ulta and like to use them to get makeup for my clients. So I get the chance to meet and see the employees and get help as needed. Just now .... very dissatisfied. After being ignored by two separate floor associates I came back to the counter and then got the opportunity to get ignored by The manager in the big bright pink shirt who had no ownership in her staff and their Incompetencies. So I continued to get what I needed after she finally helped me. The best part is being told by the employee in the middle register with the long black hair and dark sweater that my diamond rewards membership level till 2021 (that's how much treated I spend) coupon wouldn't work. Which was inaccurate, employee (Montana) was actually wrong and then continued to be rude and short with me after inconvenienced her to use my points St the end of my transaction, didn't even look at me, didn't even thank me and didn't even acknowledge her guest. As a store manager of another very large brand I recognize that the piss poor and outright rude service by several staff tonight was enough to make me not shop at this location. read more

I read the negative reviews and was surprised. Although I didn't go to ULTA for cosmetics I went there for the salon. I was happy to see the large selection of products they sell and everyone seemed very positive and helpful. Having owned my own salon for ten years in WA I know how difficult it is to keep everything in stock and organized. The salon atmosphere was clean and bright. My stylist Natalia was of Russian decent and quite pleasant. She was professional and experienced and I absolutely loved my experience from start to finish. Went for a hair cut plus style. I was unfortunately given hair dresser Cindy. Rude as hell. She even shows she's exasperated while cutting hair. She works in the desert Ridge Arizona office. Doesn't cut hair properly and looks all upset through the cut. She irons your hair like she doesn't care with oil on it and wants to fry it and doesn't care about your hair and . she can burn your forehead without a care. When I pulled away in defence she brought it up that I should sit still.. Of course I don't want you burning my hair and running your iron fiercely through my hair as though you don't care. Ulta doesn't choose the right hairstylists. Avoid this place. Avoid ulta itself. Not worth it read more

I've seen several reviews about poor customer service, so I feel the need to share my positive experience at this location. I received 3 of the same foundation compacts for Christmas. I decided to exchange 2 of them for other products from the same collection. Who knows how long my mother had these items in her gifting arsenal- because these $35 items rang up at .25 cents! After some confusion- a manager knew just what to do and allowed me to get the full $35 gift credit to use towards my exchange. I ended up spending an additional $40 in the store. The service I received was wonderful and I'm grateful to the staff for their helpfulness. xo read more

This place is terrible. From the workers to ESPECIALLY the manager. From the moment I walked into the store I felt judged. I had a lady ask me if I need help, I said no. She kept walking around me and starring at me. As if I couldn't afford the stuff there. I'm freakin platinum and have the entire store in my house and to be treated like this??? I then buy two opi infinite shine nail polish. They're on sale for 25% off, they don't believe me. Send a worker to check, I was right. Manager needs to come approve it. Manager comes and she's like doubting her two coworkers because she doesn't believe they're on sale. She puts me on hold again to double check the price. Wtf?? Today I went to Ulta salon to get a color correction. My hair was an absolute mess when I walked in there. Gisele, a master stylist took the time to do a 15 minute consultation with me and we went over everything from the messed up color to the choppy uneven haircut. Right away I knew that she was very knowledgeable about hair. It only took her two hours to fix my color and throw some highlights and she cleaned up my haircut without taking too much off. Pat is truly an artist! I love what she does to my hair, not to mention the way I feel after she works her magic. Her cuts are perfection, her highlights stunningly gorgeous. Whatever it is you want she can give it to you. Pat is experienced, talented, and knows how to make you look good. I even referred a guy friend to her who was frustrated after receiving mediocre cuts all around town. Needless to say, his hair looks great and with minimal effort which he loves.
