I booked a full highlight and haircut for noon, and on the morning of my appointment, my stylist asked if I could move to 2 PM to better accommodate her schedule. I agreed. After processing my highlights, my hair was washed and toned. My hair is very fine, but I have a lot of it, and it tangles easily. She then spent nearly an hour detangling my wet hair with an extremely fine-toothed comb, which I have never experienced a stylist using to detangle wet hair. At no point was I told I would be charged an additional fee for this or that the time spent detangling meant there would no longer be enough time to complete my haircut. After about 2.5 hours, my appointment was abruptly ended because the next client was waiting. I was sent home with my hair soaking wet and uncut and told I would have to come back another day to finish the service I had originally booked. I was then charged $225: $140 for highlights, $25 for additional product, $25 for toner, and an unexpected $35 "detangling fee" that was never discussed with me beforehand. I called the salon twice afterward because I was so frustrated with how this was handled. My stylist later explained that she couldn't finish my appointment because she had already pushed her next client back 30 minutes. I found that particularly frustrating considering I had moved my own appointment by two hours that same day specifically to accommodate her schedule. I understand that appointments can run long and additional product can cost more. What I don't find acceptable is adding an undisclosed fee and ending a booked highlight-and-cut appointment without completing the cut or even drying my hair because the next client was waiting. I was offered another appointment to come back for the haircut, but after this experience, I have no desire to return.

The reception staff is so patient and helpful, and they were so welcoming when I walked through the door. I had two apppintments with Amanda, once for a free consultation to discuss exactly what I was looking to have done and then the big appointment to cut and color my hair. Amanda was INCREDIBLE! She was so fun and bubbly and personable. The vibes and energy were there from the jump and it ended up being on of if not the best & most fun hair appointments I've ever had. She worked with me to achieve the goal I had for my hair, and was able to pull it off while maintaining the health and integrity of my hair. Not only was the quality of service immaculate, but the cost at the end of the appointment was only a few dollars higher than what she had quoted me at the consultation and still PERFECTLY within my beauty budget! Amanda absolutely gained a new regular and I can't wait to go back for touch-ups.

I am not happy at all with the results, sure they will offer to fix it. Who wants to spend another 2 hrs at the salon. A phone call to warn me would have avoided my INTENSE dislike with how this was handled. I will find a better salon that treats their customers with respect. Ellie is my go-to stylist at The Head Room, and she is a miracle worker. She is always open to any ideas I have for styling and has great suggestions for how to keep my look fresh while still accommodating for my slacker ways when it comes to touching up my roots, etc. She is very skilled and personable, and I just adore her. I've also brought my young daughter to The Head Room for haircuts with Jamie and Andrea. They both did fantastic work and were very sweet and patient--I imagine preschoolers are typically not stylists' favorite clients, but you wouldn't know it based on our appointments. I feel pricing at the salon is reasonable, on par with what you'll be charged at other similar salons in the area. The only issues I've ever had at the salon, as other reviewers have mentioned, are with booking appointments. It can very challenging to get an appointment for color within a few weeks of calling, so it's necessary to plan ahead quite a bit (not my strong suit). I had one incident where I actually remembered to book my next color and cut at the front desk immediately following an appointment. When I showed up for the next appointment a couple months later, the salon had no record of it. I had the appointment card from the front desk and everything, but there was really nothing that could be done at the time so it was a wasted trip. They were very apologetic and helpful about making a time to squeeze me in the next week, but it was a frustrating experience. Not enough to keep me away but worth mentioning. Overall, a great salon that I highly recommend. Just keep in mind that appointments (especially for color) may need to be booked out a few weeks in advance and if you don't receive a reminder call for your upcoming appointment, it'd be good to contact the salon and confirm your booking before making the trip over.

Then Rachel Applin moved to a new salon called Changes Hair Design Out in Haslett, MI48840. This ids when Rachel took a turn for the worse. She no longer cared on how she was taking care of my nails. My real nails were splitting down the center so she used glue to fix my nails and then applied my new nails with more glue. I got a bad infection in my nails where I was put on a antibiotic to clear the infection. I was to have another appointment May 16, 2025 and received a reminder text From the Salon on May 14 reminding me of my appointment. When I showed up Rachel was not there, so someone got ahold of Rachel and she had told them she left me a text. Later on I received a text from Rachel saying she has decided not to do manicures on me and I would have to find someone else. My nails were really bad and no one was willing to do manicures on me. I saw my Family Doctor and he looked to see how my nails were doing and told me my nails are going to take three to six months to completely heal and stay away from getting any more manicures till my nails were healed. Rachel only stopped doing manicures on me because of the way things happen. I have pictures of what were and still look today. I am totally upset for what she did to me.
