    I have been a client of my stylist for many years at this location, but sadly, I'm moving on. I had booked a reservation for a February 2025 cut in November 2024. As the appointment approached, I realized I had a conflicting appointment. I went on the website and saw that there was an appointment available with my stylist two days prior to my original. So I cancelled my original appointment and booked the other appointment. I received my reservation confirmation immediately via text and thought I was all set. I received my typical "please confirm" text three days prior to my appointment, to which I responded with the requested C to confirm. As always, there is no response from them with a thank you for confirming, so I thought all was good. I drove 40 minutes at 7:45am in the morning to my 8:30am appointment. When I arrived, I was told that they had no appointment for me and that it appeared my stylist had blocked out this time by filling in her own name. I tried to show them my two texts confirming both my making the appointment over a week prior, and asking me to confirm my appointment just three days before. They were not interested in seeing either of those. They did call and left a brief, nondiscriptive message for my stylist. They also said they could squeeze me in with another stylist. I have seen my stylist for over 10 years. I did not want to spend the kind of money I spend here with a stylist I have never met or seen any of work their work. So I left with nothing but an "I'm sorry, there's nothing we can do for you" I have sat on this two weeks thinking surely my stylist would call and apologize for the misunderstanding and we could work out a time for me to come in, with some sort of discount for the inconvenience. I'm not looking for a free haircut or service here. If I were looking for a handout or freebie, I'd definitely not be getting my hair cut here. But let's be honest...this was not my mistake, I drove 40 minutes each way. I have things to do in my life as well. And to reschedule would again entail me blocking out time and driving this same distance. Surely she knows what happened, right? I'm not so sure she does. Who knows, because there has been NO communication. And I blame the business for that. The front desk people are the first people you see when you come in to an establishment. They set the tone for how things are going to go when there's a problem. They hold a lot of power and they convey how things went down and how they handled it. The woman I encountered wanted no part in seeing my texts of confirmation. I had them right there for her to see. Holding them up. Nope. Can't help you. What? You can help me. You can explain to someone that there was some sort of problem with your booking program. Somehow my confirmed appointment got wiped out. You can explain to the stylist that somehow my confirmed appointment disappeared. You can, but you didn't. At least not while I was there, in front of you. How disappointed I am that I have to come here and leave a discouraging review. Most likely it will spur a response of "We're so sorry this happened to you. Please call the salon so we can fix it". NO. You should have called me right away to fix it. But you probably didn't know because of the first people I encountered when I entered your business, who set the tone of "don't care". At least the is the impression I left with when I was told there was nothing they could do.

    Douglas Jay hair dresser Hope cut my skin with clippers and it's burning.  I can't sleep.

    Hope charged me $53 for 1- chopped up badly my hair 2- my skin cut with her clippers it's burning I can't sleep 3- check in, to Hope greeting me, shampoo hair cut blow dry, payment to getting in my car all together took only 28 minutes. It was all bad job. 4- After she cut my hair she didn't show my back of hair. She just shoved me out of chair and took me downstairs for check out. 5- I told her what I want, but she cut my hair off what she can. 6- I realized she did wrong, so I asked her cut the button as even like bob's haircut. Her reaction was " oh my God, oh my God." She is rude. I don't know who can fix this terrible hair cut and how many months to grow back. I'm very frustrated and suffering with burning skin. I am going to return $300 products to Douglas Jay for not support their business anymore. I have been with Douglas J for over 20 years. Hair dressers comes and goes but this place getting disappointing me lately. Often workers rude to me. If just I'm the one having this experience, then I can't thinking anything else than my athletic Asian. I am so over with Douglas Jay hair Solon. I will go back tomorrow for refund my $53 but how they are going to refund my chopped up haircut? Hope obviously didn't care of my hair, doesn't know how to handle Asian's straight hair and texture, and she absolutely no respect to my request. And Douglas Jay getting too comfortable to training and educating workers. There are many places I can go and get cut my hair. I posted my photos of bad haircuts and skin cuts. I should get paid for Hope chopped up my hair badly and I have to live with at least next year sometime.

    I went in to get my hair cut for the first time in 2 years and got scheduled with Jason. Not only did he listen to everything I wanted out of my hair and worked to make sure I understood everything he was doing...he made me look better than I could have ever imagined!! I went from hair down to my waist to getting 8-9" off! I will 100% be going back to him!

    An amazing save! A different salon had completely messed up my hair leaving my roots ranging from platinum to fluorescent orange with a splotchy blue toner disaster on top. At Douglas J, Heather, somehow, pulled it all together By removing the blue and giving me beautiful lowlights. After an amazing conditioning treatment Lane cut and styled it beautifully. My hair has never looked so good. I am so grateful. Definitely magic. My orange and blue Brillo pad hair turned into a spun gold

    The last time I got my hair colored, in April 2019, they asked me if I wanted to include a tip! I thought Douglas J had a no tipping policy, has this changed?
