As a college student, do not go here. I got a haircut here that was meant to just be removing split ends, I've never had a problem here until this. Over three inches were taken off and the stylist didn't blend anything, giving me extremely choppy uneven hair. The receptionist said they would refund me, but after three days they decided they were not going to do that, whilst insinuating I was not telling the truth about the haircut. I offered to send them pictures, they declined. 65$ haircut not including tip, and now I will have to pay even more money somewhere else to fix it. I wanted to give my daughter, Chloé, a fond memory of getting our hair done together, just for fun. It had been awhile (pre-pandemic) since we have been at the salon together, and I thought it would be extra special if we went to a salon that was new to us. I searched the Web for salons with stylists who are skilled in caring for curly hair. Yelp listed Mirabella Salon in Okemos as number one, in their top ten lists. The reviews touted Jamie as the curly hair expert. I called and asked for Jamie and was told they have a Jessica who is extremely good with curly hair, but no Jamie. The receptionist, Parker, booked both of us with Jessica, for 3 pm and told me it would cost $30, for each of us. I wondered how the stylist could shampoo/condition, blow dry and flat- iron our hair straight in 30 minutes for $30. I made sure I was very specific in the description of what we needed. I was very clear when describing the length and curliness of our hair. I called back 2 additional times to confirm that the information I was given was correct. The receptionist, Parker checked Jessica's price book each time I called. Parker confirmed the appointment, the specific services needed, and the cost. Parker double checked for me each time, and assured me the information was correct. I took the time to thoroughly check because I really wanted to make the experience special for Chloé, and it seemed unreal that one stylist could perform the services we requested in the amount of time scheduled, and for the price quoted. I was running a few minutes late juggling my work schedule and Chloé's medical appointment, and the drive to the salon. I called Parker at 2:15 and let her know I was worried that we may be a few minutes late, and I explained the situation. Parker assured me it would be ok and said she would let Jessica know. I called Parker back (courtesy call) at 2:50 pm and told Parker the ETA on my GPS. Chloé and I walked in 10 minutes late and were met by a woman who was frowning, angry, and seemed intolerant of us. I was shocked. The woman asked my name and immediately told me there was NO way she could perform the services for both of us because we were late. She scowled at me and was extremely rude. It was Jessica, the stylist. I told her to go ahead and do Chloé's hair because she is most important. I sat in the waiting area and watched as other clients and stylists interacted. Their interactions and atmosphere was very warm, friendly, and welcoming, which was a stark contrast to our experience. A stylist sat next to me for 20 minutes, waiting for her client, and warmly and forgivingly greeted her when she arrived, and apologized for being late. I watched positive interaction after positive interaction during that time. Each client was warmly greeted with smiles and the stylist took their coat, hung it up, and struck up a conversation on the way back to the stylists chair. It was a sight to see. When Chloé was done, Jessica ranted, in front of everyone, about how "This was scheduled all wrong," and how both parties were responsible for the error. She already had her mind made up, was extremely condescending to me and Chloé, and she could not hear me when I told her that I called and confirmed several times. Jessica loudly blamed me, in front of other customers and staff, so I calmly asked her what I should have said when I called to schedule. With furrowed eyebrows and veins popping out of her neck, she scowled and shouted, "HIGHLY TEXTURED!!! You should have said VERRRY CURLY and HIGHLY TEXTURED!!! She said "I'll honor the $30 price this time but it will be more next time!" I asked her rate for the service, going forward and she said $75 "But I'll honor the $30 today since that's what you were told." I gave Jessica $60. She counted the money in front of me and handed me her business card. When we got back to the truck, my daughter was mad at me for giving Jessica $60. Chloé said Jessica was fuming mad, did not talk to her the whole time, and walked away from her (left her at the sink bowl) several times to complain about me and the mixup to other staff. Super unprofessional!! Wow! Instead of exposing ANYONE to that horrible, debasing treatment, I'd like a little fair warning... Like, maybe a sign on the door that reads: No "coloreds" allowed, Non-inclusive, Supremacy protected, Jim Crow lives here, homogeneity welcome. Yes I have shown my daughter a life of privilege and I will not apologize for that...but it's behavior like Jessica displayed on 2/2/2023, that remind us of the ignorance, exclusion, repulsion, and disdain prevalent in our own community, and how disgusting it is. No excuse for condescending tones or efforts to publicly humiliate another human being, under any circumstances. Every human being is a precious soul carefully crafted by God in His perfect image, and deserves human dignity and respect, irregardless of their God-given phenotypic traits. I am a college student from out of state so finding a good salon nearby seemed like it'd be difficult but this salon was amazing! Inside is absolutely beautiful and the hairstylist was friendly, knowledgeable, and made my hair look great. I got my hair dyed for the first time and my hairdresser, Andria, made the process understandable and relaxing. I think the pricing is fair for the quality of the salon. She is the star that makes me shine...my highlights are perfect, the cut is precise and Jordyn advises me how to duplicate the look as she finishes the style. Love this salon! the indoor aesthetic is so airy, open, and fresh! I have been seeing jordyn for all over blonde highlights (i am a natural blonde looking to just brighten it up) she does an amazing, thorough job! Would recommend Jordyn to any blonde looking for a good hairdresser. My hair always comes out so blended and natural looking. Also appreciate how she doesn't try and make small talk with me the whole time, idk why but sometimes the small talk that other hairdressers try and push for an hour and a half is EXHAUSTING. I was new in the area and decided for a cut, chose here. The gas was very nice. She had to turn the chair away from the mirror almost the entire time she was cutting. My hair was shoulder length. I kept asking her about what she was doing and she had a quick response every time. And then she turned my chair to look in the mirror. I was SHOCKED. She had literally given me an army hair cut! I have NEVER not even had sideburns!! Hair stood straight up on it's own. I couldn't say anything and I left. I had a powerful interview the next day. I was so upset I cant relay it enough. I called back the next day and got the owner. While she never apologized, she offered to give me free haircuts for 6 months. Ok....but because I HAD to purchase a wig, I dropped that charge off.,,,crickets. So I at least had her cut my hair, twice I believe before she said it was enough. Today my short hair is not something I know how to take care of, or style. Today I'm going elsewhere and asking for a hair cut while the longer parts grow out. She is experienced with nearly 20 years in the industry. Jordyn remains knowledgeable on industry standards and current on seasonal treads by attending annual conferences and workshops. It was a long haul not seeing Jordyn while the state required salons to be shuttered. Jordyn worked 16-hour days to get her clients into her chair as soon as possible once the salon was able to open. I am a low-income college student who had to cancel an appointment for serious financial reasons. This was going to be my first appointment at Mirabella, and I was genuinely excited to get my hair done for the first time in 2 years. I reached out to the stylist and informed her that I needed to cancel, and instead of replying to my text message, Jordyn immediately emailed me an invoice for a $75 cancellation fee. Not realizing there is a fee, I reached out to her again explaining that I cancelled for financial reasons, and I certainly don't have an extra $75 for her before I've even had my first appointment. Once again, I was met with radio silence from Jordyn and Mirabella. After scouring the website and the many emails I've received from the salon since making my appointment, I found that there is absolutely no cancellation fee anywhere. I am still being ignored by the salon, and I do not recommend giving your money to a company that lies to and fines it's first-time clients without an ounce of correspondence. Update: The stylists and their husbands have been harassing me on yelp about this review for days now. PLEASE do not give these people your money. read more

Fantastic haircut everytime! I went to Alli for the first time about a year and a half ago to get all of my hair, 12+ inches, chopped off. She helped me pick out a cut which I LOVED... and I haven't gone anywhere else since. As my hair grows back out again she continues to give my great new styles... Jordyn is amazing. The bf and I were both looking to get our hair done, and she was so willing to accommodate our awkward schedules. We are both pretty picky people and left really pleased with our hair! She does an amazing men's haircut. I didn't even realize that I didn't like his previous haircut until I saw how amazing hers was. I also had my hair colored by Jordyn. She was honest with me and found a way to lighten my previously dyed hair. She was so meticulous with the color placement. I've never ever ever left a hair salon without a tiny bit of dye left on my scalp or parts of my forehead until I came to mirabella. She also gave me a great and desperately needed bang trim. Also, our hair looks great even after we washed, (air dried) and styled it ourselves! Needless to say, I LOVE my new summer hair!! Jordyn is so meticulous and thorough with her work...and so, so, SO reasonably priced. She also has an amazing personality and is so easy to talk to - the time just flies with her! I went to Mirabella for the first time today. When I called the receptionist was fantastic and asked me my hair type and what I wanted done. She paired me with stylist, Beth. When I got there I got the cutest glass mug filled with the perfect roast of coffee. The salon is gorgeous, brightly lit, very clean, and a happy atmosphere. I got a drastic cut (about ten inches off!), and Beth did such a wonderful job. She knew just how to cut my hair for my hair's texture, my face shape, and the cut I had in mind. This is a review for makeup artist Ashlie Ladd. I contacted Mirabella Salon to see if they had a makeup artist on staff who would be willing to travel to do a wedding party's makeup. We had 2 bridesmaids, the bride, and MOB who were interested in makeup. Ashlie was willing to travel, and brought all of her own makeup, which included an airbrush system. She also offered eyelash application for $15. With travel, the price was $60/person for professional makeup that lasted all day. Ashlie was a great person to work with, funny, easygoing, and very good at what she does. Each person took about 45 min-hour to make over. She took the time to ask each person what their style was and if they wanted dramatic makeup, or a more natural look. Everyone was very happy with their makeup and the entire process in general. Ashlie has an ipad that takes credit cards. You can pay with check or cash. I recommend her for anyone who has a special occasion coming up. She also mentioned that she does hair as well. read more

It is very challenging to find people who are able to sculpt eyebrows correctly. Marika (at Mirabella Salon) is one of those rare artisans who takes the time and possesses the expertise to do eyebrow waxing correctly. I found that she was careful but surprisingly quick. She got my input before beginning and paused during the waxing to make sure that the shape was what I wanted. She didn't leave any wax on my face (which I was pretty amazed by - it seems like everyone misses some wax when cleaning up) and the price was extremely reasonable (lower end of the salon's range). I will definitely be having Marika do my eyebrows from now on! The salon itself seems nice, too. Clean and comfortable :) read more

DON'T GO TO THIS SALON IF YOU VALUE YOUR CIVIL RIGHTS! I had been a client of Mirabella Salon for eight years. I started taking my children, one of whom has mild autism. During a recent visit, the owner complained about the behavior of my son, who has mild autism. My son was not running back and forth, did not use inappropriate language, did not break anything. His worst "crime" was to leave a candy wrapper on a stylist's cart. When I explained to her that my son has autism, she responded, "I understand that, but I can't accommodate him, when eight people have complained." Keep in mind there weren't eight clients in the building, so obviously some of her staff complained, and/or she was lying. The owner was extremely rude to me, and I told her I didn't appreciate it. When I attempted to make an appointment for my son, suddenly our stylist was booked up for months! I will be filing a complaint with the appropriate agencies. read more

I would definitely recommend Sarah from this salon. I first went in with my 9 year old step-daughter who wanted to go from the long, long straight hair she had to a pixie/bieber cut. I was super nervous about such a change but she was determined. Her hair turned out AMAZING!!! Sarah even took extra time to show her the different ways she could style her new haircut. She made the whole process super fun and exciting and made it a great experience. My daughter has gotten nothing but compliments since the minute we walked out the salon doors! Thank you SARAH!!
