This was my first time shopping at this Ulta location. The store has a great selection and the girls that work there are sweet, unfortunately I managed to end up with the rudest girl to apply my makeup. I was only in there for maybe 5 mins and asked her about 3 questions before I regretted stepping foot in there. All of my questions were answered with condescending smugness. Some of the girls even gave me a look like "sorry you got her, she's rude to us too.." She even said to me "clearly you don't know what you're doing so you need to buy this finishing spray. It's just like hairspray." I said "ummm what is that exactly?" And she said "it's finishing spray obviously!" And sprayed it on my face and glasses. Thanks. Got my eyebrows done in the benefit brow bar thinking I was in good hands because of Benefit being such a good cosmetic brand.... WRONG!!! Ulta is one of the places I miss most in the U.S. - there's no place locally that I can shop nearly every dept. and drugstore brand of makeup, hair supplies, fragrances, etc. The staff here was very friendly - kudos to Josh for making checkout so easy and fun. Definitely join their rewards program - on one shopping stop we got 5x the normal points, plus a 25% bonus for being a member - which added up to more than a hundred dollars in free shopping on our next visit - where can you beat that? Staff was great for giving me recommendations, leading me to products that met my desires, pointing out the clearance areas, etc. I just wish I could pack up the entire store and bring it home with me! read more

I decided to go to to the Everett Mall store to have my hair colored. I was new to there website and had nothing but trouble seeing up my account. Then I went to book an appointment for today and it gave me one time. I selected it. When I arrive for my appointment I was told I didn't have one and want even in their system. I mentioned the problems I had with their website and got "yeah don't use it to schedule anything" like I somehow should have known that as a new customer. They were rude but not very sympathetic to an upset customer. I flat out said I wouldnt soending any of my money there. read more

The staff had a stand off ish attitude when I went to pay and decided to call security on me AND another customer while I was shopping around. I made a purchase and as I was checking the receipt, I noticed that they charged me twice for a product, so I went back inside to get a refund and they made me create a membership account even though I had my original receipt, and only gave me store credit, which is not their policy. The return policy is if the return is within 60 days and you have the receipt, it is supposed to be refunded in the original form of payment. I shouldn't have to create an account to get a refund, and I shouldn't even have to do all this if they didn't charge me twice. But given that they did charge me twice, they should have made as easy as possible to give me my money back. Will try and stay clear of this Ulta from now on. read more

I felt like the staff is kind of judgmental based off appearances. The lady who checked me out yesterday was pretty snobby (maybe that's just her personality???) I saw a sign by the ELF makeup that if you spent 15$ you got some extra gift so I restocked my ELF sponges and setting spray and then when I asked the women who checked me out about it she rolled her eyes, went and checked barely and said "that gift is long gone should've came sooner" this just felt like a weird comment to me. Plus I used to work at ULTA and know that if we are out of a gift we can usually give the guest something else to compensate that for them but I was not offered anything and did not feel comfortable asking, I will just return my ELF items and buy the things online where they never run out of gifts lol and always give u samples. I feel like the world of in store shopping is dying, I try to shop in stores when I have the time to support business but bad customer service just truly makes me wanna stay home and just shop online. read more

I went in about 3 weeks ago to get my hair lightened. My stylest Robin was great because my hair was dark at the time however I told her I'd like the color and cut to at least be noticeable. I did like the out come but it looked the same as when I went in. Their 25% off discount until was what got me in. I have long thick hair and after a few days it was just the same. Like I said, my hair is darker and I also wanted highlights at the time so I wouldn't have to keep going back. We agreed I'd call the following week to make and appointment for highlights. She was booked for every weekend. So, I called Friday to come in to get the highlights and the guy said he'd put me with Danielle, the manager. "She is great she costs $10 more for every service but she is totally worth it." WRONG. My appointment was for 11:15 with "the best stylist they have." At 11:45 I was finally sat in the chair. Reg flag number one. We talked about what I wanted and I said I want to get the highlights, my "sparklies (gray)" show up fast because my hair grows fast. Well, she said the ends would have to be cut because it is so dark. We talked about my last visit with Robin and she totally threw her under the bus. Saying "oh she's only been a stylist for less than 2 years and isn't that knowlegable.' Then why would a company hire someone if they/the manager felt that way. I think Robin did a great job. So, Danielle said she wouldn't do anything to my hair except do a touch up on the roots for about $70. REALLY? She "felt" if she did my hair the way I wanted it would fall out and fry. My suggestion is stay as far away from "The Salon" as possible. If a manager is going to through a co-worker under the bus because they are new then why as a consumer would I trust your salon? This review is for the Salon only. I would stay as far away from them as possible. On a side note...I went to a salon yesterday and got my hair done EXACTLY done they way I wanted, and she did a test strip first, Ulta did not. read more

I got here at 1:58 made eye contact with several employees no one acknowledged I was standing at the salon counter waiting to be helped. It took them until 210 for them to even ask if I had an appt. which was at 2:00. Finally the stylist came her station was messy. She did know what the appt was for. The gal I made the appt was very professional and had made notes from previous visits what I wanted. Wasn't impressed. Only hoping things get better. So far there us no tip here. read more

If you want to be harassed while shopping and receive extreme attitude from people who are supposed to be providing "customer service" then this is the place to shop. If I could leave negative stars I would because this place doesn't deserve even the bare minimum of one star. I've spent a lot of time and money at different ulta's in my area and I've always had a really enjoyable experience. This was the first time inside the Everett location and from the moment I walked in I was followed around by multiple workers and treated as if I was going to shoplift their merchandise. I felt profiled and uncomfortable the entire time I was in there and at a certain point just decided to cut my visit short, check out, and just get out of there. They lost a lot of potential sales because of the way they treat their customers. I don't recommend shopping here. Drive the extra 10 minutes to the Alderwood location. read more

Employees on the floor have an attitude. The ones working the cash register are pretty nice. Let me explain. So on one occasion I needed a product that was not stocked on the shelf, so I needed to ask an employee to get more out (I know they keep stock in the lower drawers). After asking the girl she got side tracked with another lady who commented on her lips and then they proceeded to talk about the employees lips injections and where she got them done. I patiently waited while the employee gave the lady her lip persons number. When she finally got my product she was kneeling by the drawer and handed it to me without looking at me at all. Kinda like 'here take it'. On another occasion a pregnant woman was rude to me and my daughter telling us about how to use the testers and throwing down products with an attitude. It's almost like they act like their better than you because they know how to apply blush and contour. Yay. Your job is still customer service and they act rude. read more

This is the closest Ulta store to me, otherwise I would choose a different location to visit. I've visited multiple times and have only one time been approached by a sales associate. On my most recent visit, I stood in line waiting to be checked out (although, I was the only person in line) as the cashier was talking with a maintenance man. When she finally brought me over to be checked out, the phone rang and rather than putting the person on hold she picked up and started talking to what sounded like another manager of the store about the maintenance situation. Not once did she say a word to me - she put her hand out for me to hand her my products, but that was it. Terrible customer service. read more

Bad customer service. I had asked to open a box of eye shadow to verify it was the correct colors. She said no that it was in the location of the correct colors. I purchased it and when I got home it was the incorrect colors. Today my daughter wanted to test a lipstick and the staff was rude with her and would not let her test it until they cleaned the tester off each time she wanted to test one out. read more

I've had a love/hate relationship with this Ulta. After having a consistently positive experience at the one in Redmond, I thought I would give this one a try. Brow/ lip waxing was generally my go to here, but after my first appointment with Julie, I've been iffy. She left the wax on too long and I had sores on my face when I was done. I went back a second time for an appointment with Heather and was happier with the outcome. It's so hit or miss though. Sorry Ulta, you are now one less pair of eyebrows. read more

I have to agree with a lot of the other reviews the customer service is horrible! Not as bad as Sephora but it's getting there. I have NEVER been greeted the numerous times I've been in there nor have I EVER been asked if I needed help. The girls on the high end side are the same way. They just stand around chatting until you ask for help and half the time know nothing about the product. I keep coming back because I can not nor will deal with the snobby girls at Sephora! It's nice to have this Everett location at the front of the mall. Getting in-and-out is easier than navigating through the traffic and cramped parking lot at the Alderwood location. Even though I don't frequent the Everett Mall, it's on my way home and this Ulta carries everything the other locations have, so it's convenient. I love when their liters of high-quality shampoo, like Joico and Red Ken, go on sale for $15 a piece. read more

I was always happy with the end result when I went in to get my hair done, however today when I called to make sure what time my appointment was, I was greeted with a rude stylist. She said my appointment was deleted and had already been received booked. She said that because I had to reschedule twice that I couldn't come back. Rude! She then began judging me and basically saying I was a bad customer due me having to reschedule. I told her I thought as a paying customer I'm allowed to reschedule correct? And I should be able to do so without judgment or criticism. The customer service was absolutely horrible and I will never go to another ulta. I have even referred friends, which I will now tell them to stay away!! Rude and unprofessional to say the least. read more

Great store. Not so great salon. I went to the salon for the first time a few months back for a blow out. Simple enough right? I wish I could remember the name of my stylist so this review could be more specific. She was a twenty something, with a short purple bob (I'm sure hair color/style has changed by now). She was nice enough but, didn't seem to have a clue what she was doing. While washing my hair she explained that she can't feel the difference between hot and cold water. Not what I want to hear from the person who has control of the faucet over my head. While she was styling my hair she kept dropping things and hitting me in the face with the blow dryer cord. Very unpleasant. End Result - Very mediocre blow out. read more

I have been going to this Ulta Salon in Everett for over a year. Everytime I go in for my appointment the staff is Friendly, Smiling, and in a GREAT MOOD! I have had my hair colored, lightened, cut, styled and NEVER had a problem. I have had 3 different stylists do my hair and EVERY single one of them have been AWSOME!!! I just had my hair done on 6/7/14 with Ariel (she is my main stylist) she is Profesional, Listens to what I want. Robyn has also cut my hair and she is GREAT!!! My daughter and I both highly recommend Candace, she did a wonderful job on both of our hair, with my daughters hair very hard to get right, she has natural beautiful curls and I have been turned down by 3 different salon's whom did not feel they could cut her hair, Candace didn't flinch and Brook's hair is more beautiful then before, it was reasonable as well. Teresa is also awesome, if anyone seems unhappy with Ulta then do business with an employee there that is clearly there for you or go elsewhere, they are pros and care about their customers. This review is for the store. I love Ulta & I spend a lot of money there. I had bought a compact by IT Cosmetic's and it was to dark and had a yellow tint so I took it back since they have the 30 day return policy, They did an exchange no problem. The only problem was that the sales associate gave me back the wrong compact. So I called them as soon as I got home which was at 8:50 and asked Jameson the manager if my boyfriend came right now would he give me the correct one back. He was extremely rude to me and told me that if my boyfriend didn't get there before nine that I was out of luck. I asked him if there was any way he could please wait, I literally live 2 minutes from the store and it was their fault I even had to go back. The whole time I was very calm and courteous. When my boyfriend got there before nine Jameson continued with the rudeness and treated him like he was a complete nuisance and made him feel very uncomfortable. What ever happen to customer service? You would think that they would have apologized for their mistake and made things right. Instead we were treated with a complete lack of respect. If this is the kind of customer service that Ulta is condoning I think I will start taking my business to Sephora at least when they make a mistake they know how to give exemplary customer service and make things right. As for the Salon I see Robyn and she is great, she is alway making me look fabulous and I will continue to give her my business, but for the store part I will now be taking my business to Sephora. As for Jameson if he worked in my salon I would fire him on the spot, his behavior is absolutely INEXCUSABLE!!! read more

I went for highlights and a cut. The idea was to have a change for my son's wedding. My stylist listened to me and then proceeded to "up sell" from a few highlights to a full package for $$ more. I agreed thinking she knew more than I did. I did not expect how much I would end up paying. As I sat in the chair, not only did I get highlights upgraded, but she also colored my roots ( which surprised me since I had only done my hair 10 days before) for an additional charge. When the coloring and highlighting was finished I was then "up sold " on a " toner" because the stylist felt my highlights were too brassy. I was left with the toner on my head while my stylist proceeded to style another client's hair. I finally spoke up when my head had been burning for over 10 min. I was rinsed out, the girl apologizing all the while. I then rec'd my style and cut. By the time I left it had been a 4 hour ordeal, my head was burnt and I had been charged $195. Which is about $100 more than I had initially planned for the trip. I will not be returning, as although the job turned out nicely, I have had better device and paid less elsewhere. I tried this place because it was close to home and I shop here for my cosmetics. Although, I wonder about that, because I have spent some serious money here and have never been given any of the " freebies" because they always seem to be out of stock! read more

I shop frequently at this Ulta because it is close to where I live. The service is hit or miss, and my biggest complaint is that, for a few MONTHS now, they don't ever have a good supply of sample applicators. If you ask an associate for some of these so you can sample the makeup, they act #1, annoyed that you have bothered them, and #2, that it's their own personal supply and it is costing them something personal to give them out. This store also seems to be increasingly ghetto, with many sections untidy, and the stations that have mirrors are dirty and have makeup smeared on them. Not impressed. I recently (8-25-14) came in to have Karen do my hair as Alda was on vacation. When I arrived, Karen came over to me to give me a consultation. I told her that I wanted to make my hair richer looking for the fall, but still keep some light pieces in the front. (before Karen did my hair, I had a reddish, blonde color throughout). my appointment was at 515pm, and since Karen was running behind, she did not start my hair until a full hour later!!!!! She initially apologized in saying she was running behind, but when she came to do my hair an hour later, she did not even acknowledge that I had been waiting for an hour or apologize again. After going back and forth with some ideas, I decided to allow Karen to do a "belyage", something that she suggested as a way to darken the hair up but still have some light pieces, especially around the front of my face. As she began the process, she painted my roots and painted other sections of my hair. I originally thought that she would carefully paint the color into some streaks in addition to my roots. HOWEVER, she didn't even pull any sections out and just painted the pieces down my head as my hair sat on my shoulders. She was then pulling pieces all around and continuing to do this same process. As the dye began to set in, I noticed throughout that there was spots of dark brown dye in all different areas of my head. It looked really bad, and one of the stylists had to come over (as I didn't know where Karen went) and spray out some pieces of hair with water to blend the dark dye that was in some hair it shouldn't have been. After Karen washed my hair, I requested that I dry it myself (as I usually do this). As I dried my hair, I noticed all of the spots throughout that were so uneven, and my color looked a complete mess, and looked exactly the way she did it- sloppy. I told her I was unhappy and she said ok, but that it was a belyage, and that it is "hand painted". I told her I completely understood what it was, but that it was not done correctly. The actual color was pretty but it was done horribly. One of the workers (I cant remember her name, but she was so sweet, patient, and professional) came to help the situation. She offered me some free product samples, and the option of coming back in for Karen to fix my hair. I was so upset at that moment that I didn't schedule anything and I also did not want Karen to even touch my hair again, so I said I would call back. I really wanted Alda to do it, but I also do not feel that its fair for Alda to do something for free that she didn't cause. In addition to my hair looking really bad, I felt that Karen's interactions were not pleasant, and although she had a smile on her face while talking to me, she was rude, sarcastic, and had an underlying attitude. I am extremely disappointed with this experience, and its a shame because I have never left the salon unhappy before this. I was also appalled that Karen holds the title of salon manager as she did not show to have any skills in a position of manager that you would typically expect. I ended up getting 20% off the service (which was not great based on the fact that since Karen is a "senior stylist" she charges higher than other stylists) and some free samples. I honestly felt that I should have gotten more off the total cost, but I didn't want to create an issue for the other girl who was helping me and I just wanted to leave asap, and the store was closing soon. I have an event to go to this coming weekend and the weekend after that I have a wedding to go to which is why I had someone else do my hair before Alda came back from vacation. I will NEVER do that again, and I will definitely NEVER allow Karen to do my hair again. Im hoping she does not mess up anyone else's hair in the future. Ulta has a good reputation and I feel she is going to give the establishment a bad name. read more

I went and saw Candace, she did my eyebrows and did a great job. I started saying I wanted to bleach my hair, but I didn't want to risk doing it myself. She said she'd do it, and I made an appointment. I literally just wanted to bleach my hair. But when I get there, she understandably wanted to strip the bit of brown that was in my hair (the rest was blonde, I just wanted it all to match). So she went to grab the stripper, and then was avidly reading the instructions like she's never used it before (even I have and I'm not a professional). So she put it on my hair and said I need to sit for 25 minutes. All her friends came in and she went from sweet to ignoring me. Then she left me under the blow dryer for 40 minutes in the other room, while I could hear her talking to all her friends outside. When she FINALLY came in, she said my hair was too damaged to bleach and that we should wait for another day. She stripped it again, which made it even darker. I asked her if she could straighten my hair, and she said she was going to cut the tips of my hair and style it. Then she just went at it. I was charged $200 for an UGLY style (my hair was so curly and huge, I looked Texan!) a cut I DIDNT WANT, and for two strips of my hair. I left that place feeling self conscious of the awful style and as for my hair color, it looked EXACTLY THE SAME. I went to a party right after and I felt like the ugliest girl in the room.
