I came in with my mom who was looking for a wig because she's losing her hair from her chemotherapy. The owner had her sit down and helped her try on different wigs to see what she likes best. My mom is older and super weak at the moment and the owner was very sweet, professional, and helpful, it honestly made me tear up because I know my mom is having a hard time with everything. I went in to see DaCarla about first time extensions,telling her,I wanted micro beaded. She sold me two packs of hair at $180.00 a peice."No Reciet" She stated instead of sticker price,it would be $180.00 a peice because of being blond??? Then another appointment, She's sectioning off hair and cutting. I asked her if she had licence to cut hair? She replied NO! She ended up doing a weave witch she talked me into, saying 98 percent of her customers get the weave as I explained to her but my hair is very very fine and and blonde well she ended up talking me into it charging me $600 for the weave later find out it was a lot cheaper only $48 per track so she got me there I had to go back three times to have her fix it and it was never fixed right I had to pay money at another salon to get it done right she chopped the back of my hair she chopped the front of my hair everything to get it to fit in the weave and then on my light blonde hair used almost black thread it was absolutely terrible and a nightmare read more

I went in to get hair extension bundles for me and my mother and the young lady working the counter told me I can't bring my 4 pound service dog in that was in a pouch on my shoulder. I told her he's my emotional support animal and she still turned us away I told her twice he is my emotional support service animal and she still was very adamant on telling me to wait outside. We ended up just leaving. Very disappointing to say the least. She needs training on service animals and and laws on how to appropriately handle that situation. read more

If I can give this place a Zero star I would! First off, I will give them credit...they're wigs are nice. BUT THE SERVICE..oh my.. I am a small business owner myself and I am all about supporting them. Decarla and her staff need to really work on their service. I had made an appt 2 weeks ago. I made this appt around my OB appt, baby shower, and maternity photos. I bought two bundles of hair & waiting for a closure. They said the closure would be here at my appt. I got a call at 620pm the night before my appt telling me that my closure hasn't come in and if I can come in later. Unfortunately I am due to have my baby next week so I cannot just miss my appt. if they had called me earlier I could have maybe changed it. So I told them no. Then they said "well you can get a closure that matches your hair but you'd have to pay more" my original closure was $80 they were gonna charge me $160. I asked them if they could discount it since it wasn't my fault. They said no. So at this point I felt like I was being conned!! Then she says "we have closures but they're not gonna match" seriously?!? To top it off...she was charging me $345 for the weave WITHOUT HAIR! I the hair with closure was $305 which I bought the hair already! I am at another salon who was able to get me in..very kind and she charges $150 for weave and wonderful service!! BEWARE WITH THIS PLACE!! Do your research and make the drive to to another salon!! This place is a disgrace and doesn't deserve your money!! read more

I LOVE this place. I've been seeing Decarla for a couple of years now. Her care and skill is so evident from the moment you walk in. I had individuals before that were thinning my already thin hair. Decarla guided me to a new style that not only protects my own hair but looks wonderful. I get so many compliments and spending time in her clean, comfy salon is restful. She has many styles of hair for me to select from since I like to change things up. Living on the northside her location is convenient and there's always parking which I love. She has always provided me excellent service even if I've had to reschedule due to my crazy job. I love this salon and highly recommend it for anyone wanting to have great styles and also protect their natural hair. For the other reviewers - if you are expecting super cheap and in and out service like McDonalds this is not the place for you. Her techniques and environment are professional. I was a loyal customer at this salon for years- as far as I knew this was the only shop locally that sold African American hair extensions and a variety of wigs- I recently was looking into getting a sew in or purchasing a front lace as I'm currently sporting an afro and wanted to have a different style for graduation. My problem with this salon is 1.) The extremely high prices 2.) The disregard for customer service On this particular visit Decarla was very pushy trying to get me to invest nearly 1000 dollars on a sew in weave with what she claimed was the best hair available (it wasn't) I told her that I was more interested in a human hair front lace (I wanted temporary remember) and she told me she had two wigs coming early the next week- one at $299.00 and the other at $399.00 she then went on to tell me that the curl pattern closest to mine would be the $299 dollar wig- her and I agreed to meet the next week for the purchase. So as I'm still looking around she keeps trying to sell me on the weave and being really aggressive with it- I was bothered but left her salon still planning to buy the wig when it came in. So fast forward a few days... Decarla calls to tell me my wig is in- and to apparently show me what amnesia looks like- because suddenly Decarla was unable to recall the agreed upon price and was actively trying to hike it up 100 bucks. Despite the price increase, I was still considering purchasing the wig but when I asked her to calculate the out the door price she got rude with me and said she was busy doing someone's hair- blahblahblah This was it- you want to hike the price then refuse to do basic math??? So I calculated it real quick in my head and realized it equaled hell to the no and decided I'd take my business elsewhere. I suggest doing your research before going to this salon. There are other shops that offer the same quality if not a better quality for a far better price and a staff that will treat you with respect and not see you as a giant money sign. read more

I absolutely love this place! I have been coming here since I was 18 years old, so about 7 years now. Dacarla has always helped me pick out the hair that I need and does amazing hair cuts for extensions! I have gone other places to get my hair extensions cut but no hair cut has been like how she does it. I wasn't aware that there is a specific way that hair extensions need to be cut until she told me. It makes complete sense at why my hair would always come out looking funny when I would have someone else do it. The price of hair is really good also. It's the best place in the area to purchase hair from a staff that actually knows what they are talking about. Dacarla gives excellent advice at how to care for extensions and what temperature of heat to use so you don't ruin the hair so quickly. My mother has slowly been losing her hair over the past year and a half and it's something that has made her feel very self-conscious. She has been working in conjunction with her doctor, but due to a history of Deep Vein Thrombosis, she is unable to take the medication that would help her hair to grow back due to the risk of blood clots. This being the case, my mom reached out to me and asked me to help her find a place where she can buy a wig, but was worried about the process and very shy about it. A couple days ago, we went into Decarla's after I'd done some research for my mother and saw that other women who had lost their hair due to various circumstances highly recommended her shop. I cannot express how much gratitude I feel towards Decarla. She is a very gracious woman and helped my very anxious mother with trying on several wigs in a couple of different styles. She tried one on that was more conservative and one that was more outside of her comfort zone in a couple different colors and Decarla explained the pros and cons of each wig and did an amazing job of making my mother feel more at ease. We left Decarla's with a new wig and my mother wore it out of the store. It's been a long time since I've seen my mom play with her hair in the mirror and she said that she's gotten many compliments over the last couple days on her new style. I very, very highly recommend a visit to Decarla's. She's tactful, very kind, and incredibly helpful, but I am most thankful for her ability to take a situation that my mother was very embarrassed and anxious about and turn it into such a positive experience. read more

Decarla's hair salon is the WORST SALON IVE EVER BEEN TOO!!!! I WANTED THE one full color of red hair and the stylist fried my hair so bad, that it turn brown pink orange and charge me 316 bucks for it... She took SIX HOURS ON MY HAIR!!! I had a box application on from a month half ago the stylist knows more about hair then I do I just wanted to look good, so she showed me a list of prices I said ur work better be great as high these prices are... So she starts doing my hair bleach my hair twice chemically color my hair twice.. Didn't explain ANYTHING TO ME !!! Once she finally got done she try for ever to straighten it so I couldn't tell how fried my hair was.. I didn't really look at it I thought I could work it so I paid her and book her again I was in a rush to get my daughter since I spent six hours at the salon.. I've never in my life sat so Long in a hair salon before ... To me she knew she mess up and she tried her hardest to cover it up instead she fried my so badly that's it completely damage!! So I call her ASAP and told her wtf I'm not happy I want my refund back ... Never ever ever ever will I ever allow her to do my hair again or ever go to this salon again!! She rushed she didn't explain anything could happen to my hair she just did it and charge me way too much the pic I have on here is how my hair look from the stylist that did it! I read the good reviews on yelp and believed them. I drove all the way from the Eastside to Everett to find a small collection of substandard wigs. The interesting thing is my friend and I were not allowed to try on the lace front wigs. After selecting two wigs in faith we took them home to discover that they were both too small and really below par for the price. there are not that many great stores for wigs for african descented people but if you must buy something in Seattle go to the stores on Rainier. I went to DeCarla's 3 1/2 weeks ago, after a bad weave job. I had hoped that she would give me a professional weave style that would last several months, and I had hoped to have found my long-term stylist. At the end of the appointment, I had spent $300, plus $90 human hair, plus wash and style. She knows that I work full-time, go to college classes most evenings, that I am and that I am a struggling single mom with young children. This was meant to be a one-time high-dollar service, in return for high-quality, long-lasting results and customer loyalty. 3 weeks later, I have discovered the ends of the tracks are sticking up noticably around my face, that the thread from one of my tracks unravelled and I had to try to glue and sew tracks myself as a quick fix, and that she would not return my email message, or my phone messages. I had a special occassion and needed her to fix these hair issues right away. I emailed her first with pictures of the hair issues. She did not reply. I called her and explained to her the situation without laying blame on her, and hoping she would honor me as her customer and honor my intelligence. She told me it would be $65 to tighten up the weave - after 3 1/2 weeks in, and deterioration that appeared to be the result of poor workmanship on her part. I would have begrudgingly paid the $65, but she wouldn't schedule a special appt for me to fix her work, knowing that my job, college classes and kids would make the early-evening weekday appts she was offering me difficult to comply with. I haven't mishandled or neglected my weave. I attended the special event, I did what I could to camoflage the hair problems, and I left her a message expressing my disappointment that she had decided not to go out of her way to help me, when it appears to have been her poor, selfish and short-term quality work which caused this whole problem in the first place. That was a lot of money, such a short time ago, and for the past 2 weeks I have been wearing scarves frequently to cover the problems. She took me for the money, as far as I am concerned. read more

I went to Decarlas to get extensions put in in November and I was really pleased with the results. Although the price was pretty expensive, I felt I could justify it because Decarla was really friendly and I was happy with my extensions. I just recently went in to get a new set of extensions. When I made my appointment I asked if they could check and see what color extensions I used the first time to make sure they had them in. They couldn't find the paper Decarla had me fill out during my first visit so I made an extra trip in a few hours before my appointment to make sure they had my hair color in. When I went in one of the other employees told me I didn't need to buy new hair because my hair still looked really healthy. When it was time for my appointment Decarla was getting her own hair done and didn't start on my hair for 15-20 minutes. She also told me I didn't need to buy new hair. It wasn't until she was more than halfway done putting my old hair back in that she told me I should have actually bought new hair because the hair she was putting back in was pretty thin. My appointment lasted 4 hours when it should have only taken no more than 2 and a half. My hair looked horrible and was shorter than my real hair. To make matters worse she charged me a whopping $333 to take out my old extensions and put them back in. I was really upset with the outcome of my hair. I called the next day to see what she could do and was told that it was my fault because I should have bought new hair. Not only did I pay all that money for Decarla to do pretty much nothing for me, the extensions came out of the braid a week after my appointment. For someone who says they are all about perfection and satisfaction, that was a horrible way of showing it. Bitterly dissapointed, I wont be going back. read more
