On April 2, I had my hair colored at the Everett Ulta salon. I paid approximately $300 for a root touch-up and a full balayage service. When the appointment was finished, it appeared that little to no change had been made to my hair. When I expressed my concerns to the stylist, Michelle, she told me that my hair was too damaged to have bleach applied. However, this was never discussed before or during my consultation. I came to the appointment expecting to receive the balayage service I had requested, which I understood would involve lightening my hair. On April 7, I returned to the salon to have my hair evaluated and to purchase products recommended to strengthen my hair so that I could receive a corrective balayage at no additional cost. On May 22, my hair was tested again to determine whether it was healthy enough to proceed with the balayage service. I then returned on June 6 for the corrective appointment. This time, I was assigned a different stylist, Robyn. While I appreciate that Robyn was asked to correct a service originally performed by another stylist, I was disappointed by the way I was treated during the appointment. No color barrier or protectant was applied around my hairline, and dark dye ended up on my face. No one offered me a towel or assistance to remove it. After the color service, another stylist applied toner and began drying my hair. My hair was left damp, and when I asked whether a brush would be used during the blow-dry, I was told that a brush would simply get caught in my hair. Once the drying stopped, the service appeared to be over. No one provided a mirror for me to view the final result, reviewed the color with me, checked for missed spots, or ensured I was satisfied with the outcome. As I was leaving, Robin thanked me for trusting her with my hair. While I understand the sentiment, the comment felt awkward given that it was made in front of Michelle, the stylist whose work had led to the corrective appointment. I have been a customer of Ulta for approximately 10 years. While I may not be one of your highest-spending clients, I have remained loyal to the company and have consistently chosen Ulta for my beauty needs. Based on my long history as a customer, I expected a higher level of professionalism, communication, and customer care than what I experienced during these appointments. I am requesting that this matter be reviewed and that someone contact me regarding a resolution. read more

The other day I had to come in there because I needed to buy some new base. I also needed to buy some hair products, but I wanted to put like a little gray streaks in my hair and asked this lady that worked there if she could help me she knew bright where to go, and she also helped me match the base color that I needed Customer services. Excellent. I would return back to the store over and over again of course I would. They're the only place I shop for make up and I love them. I would give you 100. My review is not against the stylist in any way because she was amazing and did exactly what I had pictured in my head. I felt like an absolute Rockstar when she was finished. No, my review is against the cheap crappy product they use in their salon! I have been dying my hair over 25 years with every brand possible, and my hair holds color like you wouldn't believe! Yet, I pay $500 (waaaaay more after tip cuz stylist was a pure goddess) to get a beautiful rainbow job on bleach blonde hair, I take care of it meticulously in the shower with all the ways I know to keep a color, and yet under 2 weeks it's gone! All of the color has leaked out, and all I'm left with is a head full of blonde hair. This is crap! I have never been so disappointed in a salon than with this one that pretends to be a salon!!!. Their color is pathetic and obviously cheap. I was very upset and, of course, no refunds. I had mostly a positive experience. However, I am so tired of Ulta upselling you to get a free gift, only to find out they no longer have the free gift. I specifically spent more than I intended, for this gift. Just to be told very flippantly they have no more in stock. This happens repeatedly, over and over again. They tell me they only get a few samples for free gifts. Ulta needs to QUIT advertising something they don't have! It's a scam and I'm beyond angry. I spent money I wouldn't have spent, if the truth were told or unadvertised. To be told "that's the way it goes." Without no apologies just "we understand but everyone is having orders filled." I typically do not Yelp retail stores because it is a corporation but I had to Yelp this one. I have shopped many Ulta's, but my review is not on the actual store. It is about one employee that absolutely rocked it and deserved to be recognized Yelp. First the basics, plenty of parking, the location is great but the first time I walked into the Everett location the employee did not take the time to listen me. She rushed me, she seemed to not really care and I really did not want to go back. But I noticed that I needed help with my cosmetics so I went back. I met the most amazing employee that took the time to listen me. She listen to what I wanted, she really wanted to help me. She has the customer service skills that any employer is looking for. If you go to the Ulta Beauty store in Everett, WA please please ask for Casandra and tell her that Nicole sent you. Trust me she is the best! 300 dollars later and I am still smiling. The only complaint I have is that there is not enough staffing but that is almost everywhere and some employees did not seem to care about the customers but like I said please go see Casandra. Reading all the reviews here, I see that lots of folks received poor customer service at this Ulta store. And that surprised me, as I had a great experience here. I recently had 30 minutes to kill before my movie was to start at the Regal cineplex in this mall, so I rushed to this Ulta store (oh, how I've missed Ulta! There are none in Vancouver, and I used to go to Ulta's all the time when I lived in Redmond for 25 years). I entered this store from the mall interior, so I had to walk through their hair salon area. It was hopping! And the customers all seemed happy; some appeared to know their stylists quite well. (I used to go to the Ulta salon regularly in Redmond and it was fabulous). As I walked more into the store interior and wandered about, I was greeted by no less than four Ulta employees who asked me if I needed help finding anything. One lady by the wall by the designer-brand cosmetics was particularly lovely and we chatted a bit. So my experience here with customer service was excellent. This store IS smaller than other Ulta's and, as such, doesn't have the largest selection of merchandise. But hey, it still has a LOT. And the range of products and their respective price points are still way greater than, say, Sephora. And I noted a lot of products on clearance, whose prices were crazy low, so there are a lot of deals to be found. There were only two girls working the check-out counter, so there was a bit of a wait there, and the girl who helped me was rather businesslike and efficient (not rude, but not warm either). All in all, I wish I had had more time to browse this store but, next time I return to Everett, I'll be back. read more

This Ulta may not have everything you're looking for, but there is a really good variety of beauty products here. Plus, they have a great rewards program. Today I came to look for shears (for those DIY quarantine haircuts), shampoo, and a shower cap--all of which they had. They're just getting into the swing of things after reopening but here are some things I really liked: -There are decals outside the store for social distancing. It appears that if the store gets too full they will make you wait outside. I went during an off-peak hour and walked right in. -They require masks. -All associates wear masks. -There is a greeter at the front door who I assume enforces the mask rules and also is a first point of contact for those, like me, who need help. Every associate was friendly and a few asked if I needed help as I was shopping. Each time I asked where something was, they had the knowledge of the store layout to answer my questions. I also asked about cruelty-free shampoo and one of the associates led me to a brand she knew of off the top of her head. I was happy to see they carry both Like Crime and Arctic Fox at this store, two vegan, cruelty-free hair color lines! In this new world of coronavirus, I'm not sure I would want to be here on a busy weekend, but now that I've seen how they are handling the changes, I would not hesitate to come back during a slower hour. read more

She teaches me about my hair and is honest when I bring her a picture of how I want my hair to look. I hate this Ulta. From time to time I return because there's a product that's only in stock in this location, but the visits always leave a bad taste in my mouth. About fifty percent of the time, someone on the staff is rude; I've had an employee give me unsolicited advice about my appearance on more than one occasion. But the most annoying part is that they won't scan barcodes from your phone! Any other location, no problem, but here they are adamant that the register "won't work" if I try to use a coupon or Ulta membership card from my phone. I've gone through the hassle of talking them through it multiple times, always with a shocked response that yes, the barcode on my phone will actually scan. I don't know if it's a problem with management giving the employees misinformation or what, but it wastes everyone's time and leaves both the staff and me irritated and unhappy. Be careful! They offered my minor daughter 4 "free" magazines, all she had to do was cancel before she received all 4. Well I cancelled as soon as she got the first issue with a bill. Within a week she had all 4 "free" magazines which by the way are not all the same so if you think you have a couple of months of free magazines think again. I look at her debit card and glamour magazine has charged her account... How did they get her debit card info??? Are you kidding me? Glamour magazine understood why I was upset and refunded the money but when I complained to ultra they apologized and said they would look into it... What part? I usually go to Sephora or Nordstrom to get what I need but I was in a hurry to get home so I just stopped by here since it's close. Walked in and headed straight to the area that I needed. The display for Bare Minerals was messy and empty. They didn't have the color that I needed and no one was around to help me so I just opened up their drawer which only opened half way and stuck my arm in to grab what I needed. I had my haircut at the beginning of this year by Erika. I told her exactly what I wanted. I went home to realize that she had cut the under layers SO much shorter than the top layers which made it hard to keep it from tangling quickly. There were many sections in the top layers that had not even been cut at all. I think this was because of the angle/ feared she'd already cut too much maybe(?). I don't know-- but I called right away and very politely asked to come back in to have her fix it. She laughed at me and treated me like its shape had nothing to do with the tangling. Um.. if you can imagine long layers on top of short layers (long hair) ... It's not going to allow me to even run my fingers through it. Her response was snippy and she said "well we'll just have to cut Three inches off THEN!" Implying it was somehow my fault and that was some kind of odd punishment. I wanted it about three inches off, (she left some top layers completely uncut..) so her unkind response made absolutely no sense. I then tried to schedule an entirely new 60$ appt with the person I wanted originally. I will never come back because of this experience. She told me it would be just fine to have a few things taken care of if it didn't look right, while I was sitting in the chair. I don't like to complain and typically just bite the bullet when it comes to mistakes made by the person performing the services. In this case, it's my hair! I spent 60$ because I wanted to have it be wearable and look good. I've had to have this crazy cut throughout the entire pandemic closures because my 2nd appt was set for March. I think she would benefit from a better attempt at genuine customer service. I would have paid her minimum of 20$ when I had my hair fixed, so it's not like I was just trying to waste her time. Two stars is being really generous when it comes to this place. I have been here on several occasions since they have opened and each time I have been here, they have not greeted me or offered me assistance. They make eye contact but do not say a word. This last time I came in was the last that I will come to this location. I came in to make an exchange with some stuff I purchased online. Apparently this is the worst thing you can do. I got what I needed to exchange for, with no assistance, which sucks because I actually did need it at this point. I had taken the slip that was in the box with my items when I received them, to the store. Now, I do a lot of online shopping and every other place, This is what they want you to do and there has never been an issue. Not Ulta, This will turn into a 20 min waiting period. The girl could not figure it out and wanted my conformation email. I don't have that anymore because I have never needed that in the past. She called her manager over, Jamerson or whatever his name is. He rolled his eyes and clearly did not want to help out with this. He actually had to call customer service to figure this out. He had said they got a new POS system, which I get, but please don't act like I am causing a huge burden by wanted to do an exchange! It is your job. I stood there with my 5 year old for 20 mins while he figured this out. He was not polite or apologetic the entire time. I was being very patient, understanding and kind. My child was also being very well behaved. When he got off the phone with them, he rolled his eyes, yet again. He got it figured out but lectured me on having the email and next time they will require me to bring back my "free" gifts. I don't understand since it actually wound up costing me more in store with the "exchange" I was making. Get it together, you work in customer service. It is your JOB to be nice to people and help them out. I won't be back to this location and from the looks of the reviews, this guy is the manager. The ladies in the makeup area are rude, unknowledgeable about the products they sell, and follow you like you're going to steal something. Also, if you have rosy undertones don't expect to find a foundation to match. This store only has yellow undertone makeup. I entered the store this evening in search of Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow products, Mario Bedusco, and a few other large name products. The shelves were relatively empty so I figured it was because I was shopping at 8:45pm on a Saturday night. There was a lovely young girl that helped me while an atrocious older lady in the salon with bad hair glared at me. Assuming this woman was a stylist and unhappy because her hair was bad? Not sure. I was filling my hands with much needed products and was thinking how excited I was to go home and try them on; until the manager on duty announced that (at 8:50pm) he was closing his LAST register. I looked at my phone to check the time and wondered why they would even be rushing customers out without a warning WITH 10 minutes left to spare. I will NEVER be back to Ulta.
