Don't get your hair done here. I don't know why I did but l assumed no one would mess up a simple trim. It's not like I was getting it dyed or anything, right? Anyways, I went with hair down past my tailbone. Asked for her to show me how much 3 inches off would be, she showed me, I said yes let's do it. Went home, cried a solid amount, now my hair is barely past my waist. She cut off SEVEN INCHES. I'm getting married in half a year and just wanted healthy hair and no extensions and now I have basic mid length hair. I really love coming here! Ulta Salon: I went to Ulta Salon for years when I worked up north. When I moved down south, my Salon in the city became to far! Thought I'd give them a try! I went to Felicia and I love her so much! She treated me with such respect and made my time feel luxurious!! I have enjoyed my bangs so much! Today (after 9 weeks) I went in and even though my appointment time was messed up she was able to do a treatment and trim my bangs! I can't thank them enough for giving me back just a little bit of me time!!! Additionally I picked up the new TULA tint skincare and was matched by Richie! He was a doll! I loved how he knew exactly what I meant went I said I didn't want a "shimmery" sunscreen serum. He was able to help me find an amazing match and recommend a few other recommendations. I have also been helped by Giovanni (sp) he was so kind! He helped me find so many perfect MAC lippies I know some have not had good experiences, but I do think they try to make sure you don't need anything. Then asked about a different brand that they did carry and the person was so unhelpful - it was very apparent that he did not want to help me. Two days later I was at the Puyallup mall and thought I would try again. What a difference - 5 stars for them. If you don't mind driving to Puyallup, I would say go to that Ulta. read more

I've been shopping with Ulta for quite a while now, years and years, my home location isn't this one, thank goodness. I had a return to make and was out in Covington so decided to stop in and return it. Boy was that a huge mistake, I'm in the car with my daughter and my partner goes in to return it, he's returned things for me in the past no issues. He also makes purchases on my membership no issues, ever! This time however, they decided to ask him to have me come inside and show my id. We had a receipt, the items were used once, I didn't like them, and you'd think this wouldn't require an ID. I don't know if they pick and choose who they ID or who they want to give a difficult time but they chose me and my partner that day. I reached out to corporate about this considering it was rude as heck and I get an email asking me call to which I respond I'd rather be emailed, then asked to call them again and for purposes that I wish not to share I couldn't call, but Brittany was adamant that I call. Seems like they just like being rude at this location. But safe to say, I haven't made an Ulta purchase since then and won't be returning to any of their locations. I'll add, I had also walked into my home store the same day and asked another manager at that store about the ID issue and was told that they only ID for in store pick up for online orders. I have visited this location numerous times. Each time I have been followed by numerous associates, and was left feeling extremely uncomfortable. As a Black woman, I immediately knew why I was being followed. Protocols need to change, and associates should not follow customers based on racial biases and appearances. Based on other reviews, my experiences are sadly not unique. Unfortunately, this location is close to my work and home, and I will not be coming back. Go-to beauty shop, easily found in local neighborhoods. One of the biggest gripes I have about the stores I buy my beauty supplies from, is that you rarely will find them in your local strip mall. She was very knowledgeable and had personally used the products that she suggested to me. She assured me that, as per her own experiences, the makeup removing balm she uses lasts a very long time for someone who uses a lot of makeup, and will therefore last a while for me, someone who uses very little makeup. I made an appointment for a wash and blow dry with a hot style curl. When I arrived Kathy was running behind, she seemed annoyed and said the system messed up and only put me in for a dry style, and proceeded to get a menu out as if I cared about the new menu. She said it was still fine, and took me to the sink right away so I was confused about her running behind... She washed my hair and toweled me, and sat me in the chair, and tended to her other client. Okay fine. I waited for her other client to be finished, and then she got to me. I have 24 inch extensions in a hand tied weft. She dried the top of my hair first and left the extensions wet, and then did two curls with the air wrap before I stopped her and asked her to dry my whole head and then curl me after. She clipped my hair to the side instead of clipping it up and separating the wefts and clipping it up to blow dry it properly. For a stylist who was rambling on about how she owned a business for 20 years she sure didn't know how to handle all my hair. She just kept shaking my extensions to dry them, and burnt me more than once with the dryer joking how she only focuses on air pressure but forgets about the heat. Umm okay? My hair was not dry when she finished. I told her I would just deal with it myself. She turned the dryer back on and shook my hair around then proceeded to brush OVER MY extensions ouch! Then she had the audacity to say well we got you this far. So no styling? She had another client waiting. Hello? She has no idea how to blow dry someone with extensions and should have just told me no, instead of rushing me through an appointment, and letting me leave with my hair wet. I'll never come back to this Ulta Salon, and I'm incredibly horrified at how I was treated over a "system issue." read more

After a few bad experiences with the Benefit brow bar where the ripped some skin off that left some scaring, I started going to the Factoria location and they are great! Unfortunately, I got off work early today and wanted to do something for myself after an awful day at work, but none of the benefit brow bars had staff today. So I decided to use the person at the salon at Ulta Covington instead. She was kind of short with me as soon as she called me back, then she tried to confirm with me what I wanted she said brow, tint, and lip. I said no just brow and tint. She said and lip. I said I don't think I need it and she said yes I did, so I said ok. I told her a few things that I had been told previously to mention, like my sensitive skin and the color tint that works for me. After using a tint I had been td they used before I told her my brows were too orange so she used a brown tint. When I said that was better she told me ,"Next time don't give me your opinion". Which felt super rude. She didn't say much else to me and I left feeling like I was an inconvenience and I left feeling worse than when I came in. Just a reminder to the staff there that people use places like that when they want to take care of themselves not to be dumped on like trash. I work retail and was hesitant to leave a review. I used to be a Sephora customer, but have made the switch to Ulta. This store opened up less than a mile from my home, and I was so happy to see that they carried my favorite hair products - Bumble and Bumble! They also carry my makeup products, at a comparable price to Sephora (maybe slightly cheaper - but definitely less pretentious). Every 8-12 weeks, I get my hair cut and foiled. I haven't found a specific salon or stylist to cling to, and have had mixed results experimenting with different places. I have gone to Ulta twice now and have had a great experience both times. My stylist was friendly, took her time, and had some great suggestions without being pushy. Prices are about similar to other salons in the area ($110 and up for full foils - for a full foil, cut, and added hair treatment, mine was $230, and it took about 2 1/2 - 3 hours). While it is pricey, like I said, it's not outrageous or far fetched in comparison to other salons. I'd suggest Ulta to anyone who likes Sephora, but who wants something a little more down-to-earth. read more

Nice, brand new store, right off Hwy 18 so it's super convenient to find. Turning into the parking lot can be a bit sketchy. The store itself is very nice. Clean, bright, and filled with product. Seems well stocked. It's laid out a little differently, so I had a hard time locating the items I needed. They do have a salon and Benefit Brow Bar. The staff wasn't really around, so it was hard to ask for help. I finally found something close to what I was looking for, and a girl finally popped up to ask if I needed help. I asked her if they had different kinds of Makeup Brush Cleaner besides the one I had in my hand, and she said "Yes, but the one you have is the best one" and walked away... Okay? I wanted to know if you had other ones so I could compare.... I ended up just getting the one I had, since I didn't really have any other options, and I suppose I'll just return it if it isn't what I was looking for. Was quick to get helped when it came time to checking out. The girl behind the counter, I don't remember her name but it said lead cashier, wasn't very friendly and definitely didn't want to make any sort of small talk. Overall, it's a nice store, but the staff isn't too friendly or helpful. I'll only come here for emergencies, otherwise the Southcenter location will continue to be my preferred store. read more

I went to Ulta for hair and make-up for a derby gala that I was attending. Shana from MAC did an amazing job on my make-up, going above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable with the colors used and how dramatic the look was. She spent twice the amount of time on my make-up as was allowed, but wanted to make sure it was perfect. The Ulta salon rearranged my hair appt based on the make-up time. Madison did my hair and was able to pull off the exact style I showed her in a picture in about 45mins so I could get to my event on time. I was wearing a fascinator that had an elastic headband that needed to be worked into the hairstyle and covered to make things more complicated. I literally don't know how she did such a beautiful updo in such a short time! read more

I asked for a product that was not on the shelf, but the app said the store had it in stock. I approach Rebecca to ask her if they have it? She can't see what I'm talking about and starts the standard "everything we have is on the shelf" quote. I try to tell her that the app says the store has it in stock. But I don't get to finish because she rudely interrupted me to ramble on about how the app quotes the stock that was in the store the first thing this morning. I was there 1st thing this morning! I booked an appointment to get my hair done here a while back... I clearly asked if they knew how to do course hair... I am mixed with AA, and Mexican so my hair texture isn't fine... they told me they could do it so I went along with scheduling an appointment... when I went to the appointment the girl that was doing my hair asked every five mins was my hair ok meaning do I like it... she didn't cut my hair correctly and she did not flat iron my hair well enough as I told her multiple times I like my hair to be bone straight with body to it... I got so frustrated that I let her finish which was not a great job at all and paid the $50... I voiced my concerns to a manager and they did nothing about it... My favorite location to visit is definitely the one in Covington. Staff seemed to be more friendly and ready to help unlike the the Tukwila location. The store is fairly big and I can find all my makeup and skincare essentials. They also have several sales throughout the year. If I could give this location 0 stars I would! The manager is very rude and has terrible customer service. She has a serious attitude problem. I was being followed around, as if I was going to take something, at this point she was not being discreet, every time I looked up she was near by watching me, making me feel very uncomfortable. I will discourage anyone I can from shopping at this location. The manager will make your company lose out on valuable regular customers. I hate it and it killed more hair than I'd like to admit. I wasn't there for a trim today, just usual makeup. Wendy approached me with her card and was very nice! Answered a few questions and said she had time right now. After washing, drying and straightening my hair she showed me what needs to be cut and what should be cut. This is coming a bit late but I came in this Ulta in July and had Kendal Waterhouse do my makeup and my daughters mother in law to be's makeup for my daughters wedding. She was absolutely lovely and made us both feel so beautiful for the wedding day of our children. I loved how she talked us through the makeup process so if we wanted to recreate it at home we could. I don't have any problems with the products at all but the staff were kind of weird... as you walk in from my experience they all give you a weird look which I don't really mind that. I came with my mom and sister and as I was looking for things I kept getting tailed or followed by the workers like I was trying to steal something??? Which made me really uncomfortable and I really wanted to leave at that point, I didn't feel like i was being suspicious or anything as I was with my family. Then I checked out and the cashiers were really rude maybe they were having a bad day which we all have but really? I read other reviews on this place and a lot of other people said they were being followed as well. I went into the Covington Ulta today just like many times before, I usually have a great time with nice helpful people. Sadly this time was different, I convinced my husband to go in with me knowing I was gonna take a while. Looking around all the sudden a voice comes over the intercom calling loss prevention, I've worked in retail many years and know this is a common thing so I went along with my business, but then I started to notice all the employees walking around staring at us asking if we needed anything. For the next 5 mins every time I looked up many eyes were on me. I have never stole anything and never will, it's a crappy feeling with a store full of people think you are a thief. This would be less stars. Stevie is not compassionate and is not customer focused bag attitude and poor body language tooling the eyes and all. They book appointments and take you thru a 30 min consultation to then give you a price . You question it due to having same service at another ulta and they are quoting 60 more??? they all of a sudden don't have time to do the committed appointment when you ask for a reason why the huge difference. Stevie did not want to help nor honor pricing. All they care about Is money regardless the original issue that a previous ulta created in a mother state created. It was not my fault. Also the District manager had talked to Chelsie about my situation so once the general manager contacted her chelsea, Chelsea had advised Stevie to take care of me but they still refused service. The District manager Hanh never relayed the issue to the general manager which should have happened. Huge waste of my day and time ... They really need to get it together and be pro customer and friendly and find a solution that wont continue to waste customers time or make them feel unappreciated. This review is for the Covington WA location. Very disappointed this morning. I called the store at 9:00 am this morning knowing they didn't open till 11:00 am. Fully not expecting anyone to answer but to my surprise they actually answered. I wish they didn't...I was calling to get pricing to get my moms hair done for her birthday. Initially the gal who answered the phone was decent...that changed quickly. I explained to her what my moms hair looked like and she suggested that I have a consultation done first (which is fine and understandable) I asked if she could give just an idea of the base for the best case scenario and worse case and she said YES and placed me on hold. She comes back on the line and says is starts at 110 but could be an additional 60 per 30 minute depending on my moms hair..so I proceeded to repeat what she said just so I knew I understood her correctly...or at least I tried...she would not let me get a sentence out with out cutting me off. She cut me off 3 times before I finally pointed out that she was cutting me off and not letting me speak. Her response was that the store wasn't even open but she was still trying to help me and that she didn't have time to argue with me...well I was never arguing with you I simply pointed out that you were cutting me off and being unprofessional. I asked her name and she refused to give it to me which just proves she knows she was in the wrong. She told me I was the one being rude for pointing out that she was cutting me off??? WTF? It's my fault now? Hmm. Okay. She attempted to say that she had already apologized but she NEVER ONCE apologized and then when I asked her again for her name she said no and hung up on me....How silly. I'm sure corporate would love to know that you just lost out on 200 dollars because you wouldn't let someone speak because you were "to busy" and your pride was to high..why did you even answer the phone then. I usually love coming into Ulta however this visit was most stressful and aggravating then it needed to be. I went in to buy some products and as a platinum member I get so many emails so while at the cash register I'm frantically looking for a coupon. It's also my birthday month and after the employee asked for my phone number you would assume that they would recognize this and grant me the $10 off plus the free birthday gift. And any other coupon that applies. (They do this at Fredmeyers) However you have to have the coupon. Which I think is a little excessive because good companies like Nordstrom's the employee would have recognized this in their system and said "oh happy birthday you get $10 off and a birthday gift" it's customer service like this that sets companies apart. However I found the coupon when back in the car and so I went back into the store to get the discount. So overall the end result was fine but just the hassle of everything could be really improved for customer satisfaction. The poor girls working the cash register had to just follow the companies protocol but these corporate road blocks just lead to an unsatisfied customer. read more
