This review is in regards to my hair salon experience. I booked an appointment with Nora for the signature haircut. I ended up getting my wash & treatment done with Jesus, since Nora had to take a lunch during the beginning of my appointment (not her fault). Jesus was very kind and the hair wash felt amazing! When Nora came back and it was time to do my hair, she asked what haircut I wanted. I showed two pictures and she let me know based on my current hair, which would work best with my thin hair. I appreciated that since I knew she was the expert in hair! She did her magic and I absolutely fell in love with how my hair currently looks! I'm so happy I booked Nora. I had a very frustrating experience attempting to return a damaged product, despite having the original receipt. The store accepted my purchase without requiring a phone number or account, but when I tried to return the damaged item I was told the return could not be processed unless I provided my phone number or created an account. I declined sharing personal data, should be optional especially when a receipt is presented. I explained that if a phone number is required to process returns that condition should be clearly disclosed before purchase not enforced afterward. I was also willing to show ID for verification, which is a common retail practice, if proof of identity was what was required. What was most disappointing was the lack of support from both the associates and the evening manager. I had the damaged product in hand yet the manager stated they could not process an order override or offer any resolution in-store. Instead of assisting or escalating the issue appropriately I was simply told to contact customer service. I have never experienced a manager refusing to resolve a straightforward damaged item return and redirecting a customer elsewhere rather than helping in the moment. Additionally, return policy language directing customers to "ask an associate in store for more information " is vague and does not adequately disclose mandatory data requirements. I've shopped at many beauty retailers and have never been required to provide a phone number to return a defective product with a receipt. This experience felt unnecessarily and poorly handled, and I hope store management reviews both their return practices and how managers support customers when issues arise. read more

MELISSA IS THE BEST!! Ok so i came in looking for some makeup basics as I wanted to start doing my makeup. Melissa came up to me and immediately helped me out, she explained everything to me and which shades work better. Super helpful and very friendly!! Also she does eyebrow waxing and I was nervous because I have thick eyebrows and every-time i get them done anywhere they always mess them up. LET ME TELL YOU I LOVE HOW SHE DID THEM!! I came here to pick up and order I purchased two hours ago. Employees are very rude. I say hello they don't say it back. I told her I do not have my ID on me but I have the confirmation she said "well there's nothing I can do". I understand it's policy but seriously, it's Ulta. This place is always sooooo unorganized. I keep running to this one for last minute things I need and regret it EVERY TIME. It's clearly busy and they only have one register open, there is a lot of staff on the floor and two extra girls behind the counter... and only one register open. Took me more than 30min to check out. When I got up to the register the girls have a stink face... like ringing us up is an inconvenience... and by the time I got there... there was another 16 people behind me. Don't waste your time here. Read the other reviews and take them seriously. The staff at this location are consistently rude rolling their eyes, being sarcastic, and showing zero interest in helping customers. Even when treated with politeness, they act like you're inconveniencing them just by asking a question. I've worked in customer service for many years, and I can honestly say this is one of the worst-run stores I've encountered. The way the employees behave makes the experience unbearable. This location would honestly function better with no staff at all. Corporate should really open an investigation into what's going on here. Customers deserve better. read more

I've been to many Ulta's, never have they rejected for me to use the restroom and a simple "no customer restroom" would have been way nicer than what the salon ladies did. I asked if the restroom was available, they all froze and acted like they didn't know policy. One said no. Another one said yes but it's busy right now. A girl with highlights said to another worker "isn't restroom for salon customers only". I waited about 10 mins and no one came out or the restroom, so I knocked and it was empty. As I walked out the group of salon workers talked about themselves LOUDLY as they looked at me, "go lock the restroom, next time just say no it's not available". I've been to a few Ultas but this one in particular I love. But only because I got great customer service from Chyna! She was so amazing and took her time to help me find what I was looking for! I'm starting to get back into make up and she helped me find my shade in a tinted moisturizer. She gave me great recommendations! She also helped my husband! He loved her as well!!! She was so helpful!!! I even went the next day and didn't expect to see her! I had forgot to ask a few more questions and she took the time to help me again! We definitely will be going back! I went to ulta to dye my hair & get a full highlight. When the stylist Natali finished my hair , she completely forgot to do a root blend & didn't leave the school toner longer which caused certain parts of my hair orange. Not only that , but when i went to get my hair styled for prom, my hairstylist took pictures of my hair which showed that she left certain pieces of my hair untouched and some parts too thick. I definitely do not recommend her as someone to do highlights. Ulta choose your workers wisely. read more

I went to Ulta to re'up on a few face products I like from Good Molecules. I also decided to invest in some better quality shampoo and conditioner.. but I was having trouble picking one to try. Manager Jamila saw me and my parents struggling reading bottles of conditioner and walked over to help! She not only told me about two great products in the store she also showed me a hair page online that's had women with similar hair types like mine who gave tips and advise. I really appreciate her, & how friendly personable and knowledgeable she was with black hair care. Destinee in the salon was also warm and welcoming! Also shout out to the security guard in the front, we mistakenly asked her for help when she was on a break and she still tried to assist us (we then later seen she was a security guard and not a actual Ulta person aha) I will definitely be back for help from Jamila & Destinee! Unfortunately Caitlen has recently left Ulta's benefit brow bar. She was the only reason I came to this location as of late. I will follow her anywhere. Ladies you know when you find someone who does your brows right you stick with them. I have had experiences where my eyebrows were just botched by someone and that is a risk I can't take. This review is for George at the Mac counter. I just wanted to say thank you so much for doing my makeup on the day of my 20 year high school reunion. I popped in to Ulta last minute wasn't sure if makeup services were offered an Ulta associate directed me to George. I told George the type of look I was going for and specified how important it was for me to have a natural look with a Smokey eye. George over exceeded my expectations. I don't wear makeup regularly and I've had a few negative experiences with makeup artists not listening to my needs and doing what they felt was best but in the end result I hated my makeup. Salon- They offer hair extensions and tell you after 6 months you can remove them and get a new set (one time only) so after hearing that from my stylist and did it. The hair is good quality but by month 4 started looking strangely so I had to keep cutting the length. I went on basically every 4-5 weeks to get them moved up. My stylist always let me know I was taking care of them, probably the best client she's has in maintaining them. I was shocked to hear that the denied the claim!! Best Ulta ever! Don't be scared it's not ghetto because it's in Compton lol! They are not all up your business seeing if your going to steal, and let you do your thing and play around with the make up. I think one of the black girls was the manager she was so friendly and lighthearted. The ladies were all playing around and had a lighthearted work environment, that made it a fun shopping experience.They were all very nice and friendly. The small mac Hispanic girl's make up skills were bomb! I'm so coming to her to get my makeup done if I need from her. She even said they have makeup teaching classes for 30 minutes to teach you on a specific make up subject. They have so many great clean make up brands. Keep up the great work ladies! Usually I love coming to this store, everyone is friendly and nice but today was the first time I felt unwelcomed. I was browsing searching for my product and I wasn't sure I had the right product so I grabbed the item and just opened the box to view the bottle and see if it was the one I had previously used in my home...and so instead of asking me if I needed help, an employee with a condescending manner asked me not to open the item. I apologized but they didn't seem to care and walked away. I felt like because of what I was wearing, he must have thought I was going to steal it. Came here today because another ULTA said they had this product in stock so I drove here to check it versus ordering online. My other option was to drive to Sherman Oaks but that's too far. When I got here, they only had the small sizes which was a bummer. I ended up not buying anything but able to return purchases I bought from another ULTA. I ended up ordering online and getting FREE SHIPPING. Staff here were immediately helpful and directed me to the area where they would have carried it and told me to check Downey ULTA which also didn't carry it, but I'm extremely happy with their service and got my online shopping done. Because ULTA doesn't have a great supply of what I love in stores, I find the best way to buy what I really need is order online. If you know me personally you know I'm a makeup fanatic and this is one of thee best places to buy all kinds of different brands from cheap to high end.... Over the years Ulta has come to supply indie brands in which I love cuz to me indie brands put their hard work and dedication to making a product that we the consumer can relate to... so thank you Ulta for doing that. On this occasion I came in looking for the primer I use on my face before I apply my foundation and I couldn't find it (hangover by two faced) just as I was about to give up Justine popped up and helped me she was multi tasking at the time but still handled me with great service. Justine went way and beyond to help anther customer that needed a foundation that they hadn't even put out...she dug threw boxes in the back just to make that customer happy. Now that's what I call excellent customer service... Justine if your reading your A+ in my book.. I wanted to inform you guys on a specific staff I assume she's a African American female worker that you may have in Alameda st. Compton CA. I felt highly discriminated due to the fact on how the worker informed others to "keep their eye out" towards us, and while we were heading out she stops me to ask me if i ended up buying a product. I lost my self esteem, I had just entered looking forward to buying my makeup for my birthday. I felt racially attacked because of my ethnicity.
