I visited today and definitely felt that 'aaaaaahhhh' moment when I walked in. I got assistance from Betty who helped me figure out what items would be good for the style I want to achieve. She was super helpful and knowledgeable about the products she recommended! I got crochet hair and some Hawaiian silky product today and I'm so excited to use what I purchased. Extremely rude and dismissive. I asked a question about a product and she just repeated what was on the bottle. I can read! The answer was given in a rude tone. If it wasn't so close to 5 and I didn't need the product for work tomorrow I would have just went to a different beauty supply. My total was $9.91 and they were still going to charge me the 75 cent fee for orders under $10. I got a lip pencil that was $2 more. There used to be a rewards program, they used to give samples, now it's nothing. They say hello as if just to let you know that they are watching you. I came in tonight to buy some human hair. Now, I've been here many times before. Service has been meh to okay in the past. As soon as you walk in the door, you turn right and you go to all the hair, including braiding hair, wigs, weave hair, etc. Well, they have it blocked off now. Not sure why...surely it can't be because of Covid. I mean, I understand with wigs, you may not want people trying them on, but packaged hair?? Why would you not allow anyone to walk over and actually see the choices?! And they have a very loooong row of hair, so how do you point to what you want, when you're at the end of the row, so you can't see anything?!! The hair I was interested in was located in the middle of the aisle! The guy told me that the owner didn't want customers over there. I asked him how in the world does that make sense to not be able to look at the choices??! How are you supposed to know which color you want? I had an idea of what the package looked like from buying it before and I knew that I wanted a blondish color, but I needed to see it, so I pick the right one, because I wasn't sure of the area it was in. I told him never mind if I can't even see it. He just walked away. He didn't care about losing a customer. Really??! During a time like this when businesses are closing left and right??! Yeah okay buddy...good luck with that! What am I supposed to do, tell him to bring me all the blondes you have? That is SSSSSOOOOOO STUPID! That's like going in the grocery store and they have the aisle of bread roped off and you're supposed to tell them to bring you all the wheat bread. Please consider visiting a different beauty supply. I've been in here twice, since its closer to where I live than the usual supply I go to. Besides the fact that it is so cramped and claustrophobic on the inside that you can barely fit much people comfortably in an isle--I've been watched like a hawk both times ive been in there. I went in looking for a wig to wear for my birthday, and ended up having to leave because immediately after i got into the isle, i was met with a very rude; "What do you need??" from the employee. Upon mentioning that I was just looking, the employee stood there with her arms crossed and watched me down as I searched. This establishment is not black owned, so I ended up leaving since I felt so uncomfortable. If I needed assistance shopping, I would have gladly asked. There was nothing about my behavior to show that I had any malicious intent when shopping, so being watched from the very moment i walk in as if i was going to take something without paying was insane to me. I do not believe it's black owned since the lady behind the counter collecting the money was Asian. I don't mind making exceptions and spending outside my community but I don't like being deceived. Just because you cater to the black community doesn't give you the right to claim Black owned. Makes me wonder in what other ways they may be taking from our community. I called their place at 6:32PM and I was told that they start counting the register at 6:50 PM and they close at 7 PM. I flew from San Pedro and made it there at 6:58 and they had a sign up that said it was closed and the door is locked. The woman comes to the door and tells me oh we're closed. Well that was obvious, but I explained to her that I called and spoke to someone on the phone and I explained to her what I was told and that she had me rushing over here before they're closing time at seven. I AM PISSED! If you close at seven, then you should close at 7 PM and if you don't take transactions after certain time, then you need to make that clear as well. Usually I come and the girl is so nice then the old ass man who was so rude to me first told me we don't like kids in this section where the wigs are. I find it interesting that business owners often times forget that the customers are the ones who keep them in business. I just left Johnny's beauty supply. I've been there a hand full of times in the past. I had my son with me who was sitting in a chair in the wig section and the owner rudely tells "him kids aren't allowed in here you need to step out" I address him on the tone and manner in which he spoke to my child and he stated "what, that's the way that I talk" I advised that the rude manner in which he spoke was unacceptable and that he could have utilized common courtesy and further more he should have told me instead of my child that there was an issue. He proceeded to attempt to argue with me about how he was right and I told him that his business is supported by community members like myself and that I'd be sure to put the word out about his behavior. He said he's a member of the community too and I told him ok and proceeded to leave. Unbeknownst to me he had already been rude to my son when he ask about a product for me. My son asked him if there was a smaller size and he asked him in a condescending tone if he sees a smaller size while waving him off. I do understand that there is a culture and language barrier that often exists with Asian cultures, however, this is not such an instance. His attitude and demeanor is reprehensible and I urge others to keep this in mind should you choose to patronize this business. Not to mention he walked up on me using hand gestures and I had to ask him to back up because he was in my personal space. read more

First off, I never stepped foot into the store because I called to see if they even had the product in stock before I drove 45 minutes to the store to buy it. Before I could even finish inquiring about the item, the person on the other end of the phone cut me off to say that they do not give out prices over the phone. I said "FIRST OFF, do you have it is what I wanted to know." the person on the phone said "Yes, but I'm not giving you the price of it".
