I visited this store a couple times in the past month to inquire about a hair clipper they carry, and the workers were great. I didn't get the name of the woman who helped me the first time around, but I did get the name of the one who helped me during my second visit -- Iris. First time at this location I usually go to the one in Lomita. I ran in because i was in need of Palmade and already in this shopping center. Great 1st impression on store. It was very well kept. A very nice young girl welcomed me and was eager to show me where the product I asked for was. She was knowledgable in the product. I also asked for a shampoo and conditioner for my wifes damaged hair. She knew about all the products and what was best for hair types. She helped me alot. Parking is never a problem, since it shares a huge lot with Albertson's, Staples, Wingstop, etc. Yes, there are those mom and pop Korean-owned beauty supplies, but Sally holds it down and won't get knocked down without a fight, despite all of the other "divas" being around. Sally Beauty Supply = the A.J. Lee amongst surrounding mom and pop competitive beauty supplies. She's doing her best to hold on to her Divas title and is kicking ass while doing so. I arrived at Sally's store located @ 228 E. Sepulveda Blvd, Carson CA at approximately 5:49pm, on July 14,2020. As the signage instructed, I waited outside until called by a sales associate. At 5:53pm, a lady comes to the door and tells myself and another young lady waiting that the store is closed. I went on to say, your hours say you are open until 6pm due to COVID 19. She tells me that by the time they ring up the customers who are already inside the stor, it will be after 6pm. She tells us that we can come back tomorrow when the store opens up at 10am. I'm very upset because 1- I called to make sure the store was open for me to get the items I needed TONIGHT 2- It's very unprofessional to close the store with customers waiting outside 10 minutes before closing time. 3- I would not return to a store who turned me away for a piss poor reason. My advise to management would be, make sure sales associates know the policy's of open store hours and how detrimental it can be to a store to close its doors on customers. read more

First off, had AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE experience! The employees here were most definitely rude. We came here to get a couple supplies since they were open and my mother and I didnt feel safe to go to the salons although some were reopening. Of course we waited about 15 minutes outside before finally coming in which is understandable. Decided to get some supplies since my mom is a cosmetologist as her part time. As we looked around a lady asked us if we needed anything and we said, "Were okay thank you". About 3 minutes later she asked again and once more a different aisle a few minutes later. The employee (same lady) that asked us numerous times in less than 10 minutes made a comment, "We have a line outside and were only suppose to let you have 10 minutes in the store". We were gonna buy some hair color, wax kit, and a straightener but only came out with a comb because why would we want to be rushed? Were paying customers and need time to ensure what we plan to buy has good quality. I understand that due to the safety of everyone that there is a limit on people in the store but I thought it was disrespectful for her to say something like that especially if you plan to get items that will be used long term wise. Employees looked me and my granddaughter up and down, side to side as if we would steal something. We know better than to steal from businesses on the verge of bankruptcy. She acted like we weren't even there! We looked at each other and my friend gave me this, "Oh shit" look, but I controlled myself and didn't say anything. We stood in a long ass line and they had at least 3 associates there. One was ringing up this girl who grabbed a bunch of shit, but then decides to critique each and every one of her choices, telling the girl to put this back and put that back... I've been here multiple times but the last time I came, which was on Black Friday, I had kind of a bad experience. Bright and early I came at 8 am just wanting to get a simple flat iron to replace the one that shitted on me. Stupid flat irons don't last that long so I was in the market for one that reached over 400 degrees. Looking around I was so confused, they seriously have around 20 different types of flat irons it's ridiculous. While looking confused and pacing back and forth I was expecting the sales associate to come and say, "you look confused, may I help you?" Nope, never. So after I found what I thought was probably the best deal (I got a flat iron & hot curling rolls for $60) the sales girl didn't say anything- she just looked fucking pissed. Now that I remember she didn't say hello when I walked in-fucking rude! Or maybe she was mad that she had to work black friday alone, super early. I don't know but not cool. Either way, this Sally's isn't the largest that I've been too but definitely not the smallest. They carry everything beauty supply related--except they're kinda limited to shampoo/conditioners & styling tools. Went in today and yesterday. Completely different employees both times. Most have fucked up attitudes. Today I went looking to buy a manic panic dye. As soon as I walked in, I looked over at the chicks at the registers. They looked up at me and said nothing. I stood in front of them because I know they keep the manic panic behind the registers. Still nothing. They had their heads down...busy I guess. I laughed and said "uh, HI." They looked up and asked if I needed assistance. Their tones let me know they weren't interested in helping anyone. I'm just a customer. Is that how you act towards customers? People you don't even know. I come here all the time. Most of those employees permanently look mad, annoyed or stuck up. Dude with the beard and docs must think he's so fucking cool. Apparently the issue has to deal with the majority of employees being rude, but I've been here many times before and have never encountered such an experience. Sure, maybe you don't get top notch service at a beauty store like this, but it's not something that has been an issue for me. Anyway, this 4-star review is for the product selection and cleanliness of the store. Items seem to be well organized, and the brand selection is good too. This Sally's is always out of nail polishes and other nail related stuff. Their customer service is terrible. You don't get a greeting when you come in or a thank you at check out. What's even worse is how after every customer left the employees started to loudly talk about them. I cringed when I heard them, knowing that once I left I will be next. Nobody came and asked if I needed help either, I was on my own in there. I would definitely skip this one and go a mile up to the one on PCH. I try to avoid going Into this Sally's even though it is the closest to my place of residence. The staff always seem to be gossiping with one another about everything and anything. I mean it is a small store and u can hear a pin drop but the staff don't care, they are carrying a conversation at Separate ends of the store. They don't even acknowledge that you are there (and I've been coming to this store for years) they've had the same staff for a long time. When you pay, they don't even look at you in the face it is really bizarre. And like I said I'm not basing my review off a few visits, this is years of coming here but now a days I try to come only when I need emergency lashes or something of that sort. This Sally Beauty Supply store is pretty standard to other Sally Beauty Supply. Of course it is a bit small but they have pretty much everything you need except for a selection of hair accessories. You would think.... The people who work here have an alternative style and I could see even myself working here, if it wasn't for the fact that you have to have a cosmotology degree to work here. But anyway, they are most helpful and give you tips for any inquiry that you may have especially concerning dyeing hair, bleaching or styling. I do come here often and will continue to do so to get bleaching kits and such but too bad I don't buy any hair color from here because they have brands that don't work that well for "radical" colors but they do have Manic Panic, but not a large selection at that. For about 5 dollars you can get a Sally discount card which is usually good for a year and can be quite a money saver, if you are purchasing alot of stuff but I think that it's good to have it anyway, if you are a constant hair and beauty buyer of goods. =) read more

Store closes @7pm on Sat. I called while on my way there to see if they had a color I needed. The lady answered the phone said she would look to see if it was any available. She put the phone down & literally picked it up not even a solid minute later saying that it wasn't any . I arrived at 6:50 & was told they were closed but I didn't understand how that could be when I was just on phone w/ sales lady & she didn't tell me that . I was finally let in @ 6:52 & walked to color section only to find color i need & was just told wasn't there . My dad purchased a $85 hair clipper at this store using cash. When we open the clipper, it was non functional, does not cut. We were not able to return right away as we got busy that same week. When we try to return it or atleast exchange it, the manager at the store stated we cannot return it any longer as the packaging is open. But we try to explain to her is the only way to find out if it is working or not, which is common sense! According to their policy which was written on the receipt itself that we can a refund or exchange an item as long as they are on their original packaging and we have the receipt and it is within 60 days of purchase. But she did not want to accept the return or even an exchange. The manager is very rude and does not even accept our explanation that the only way to find out if it works or not is we have to open it. How can you know if what you purchase is working or not unless you try to use it?!? Very bad costumer service, the manager is very rude to talk to. She does not deserve to be a manager at any store. I dont recommend going to this place. Make sure that if you buy something expensive at this store open it in front of them and try it before you leave the place or your money will just go to waste! read more

I find the other customers to be rude, with an overly heightened sense of self importance. The rudeness of other people shopping, arguing with the employees has left a bad taste in my mouth. The employees, they tend to stay busy, and help as needed, when they're not getting yelled at by people who think their job is more important than curing cancer. Now that I'm back to shaving my head, I no longer need to put up, and be around egomaniacal stylusts, and my life is much easier. A better selection in safety razors would be nice, though. read more

I stopped by this Sally's the other day to pick up a few things and was honestly surprised at how congenial the staff was. They were very attentive without being pushy. The two ladies working that day were pretty friendly and one even greeted me as I walked in. I noticed that they made a point to ask every customer who lingered around if they were finding everything alright and even appeared very knowledgeable about the products as they had a few conversations with regulars as well as hair care recommendations for people that had questions. I'm not sure why there are negative reviews here. They seem like isolated incidents or troublemakers casting blame... I did notice a few rude customers who kinda snapped at the staff, but the clerks were still very polite despite being spoken to that way. This was one of the better Sally's that I've been to. It's OK. They are not the most friendly people I've met but they do answer your questions, and seem like they know what they are talking about. Their counter is set up really oddly.. I'm not a giant or anything but I seriously almost have to get down on my knees to write a check - yes, the old fashioned check - some of us still use the. Seriously... bump up your counters already. I must've passed by this location a few dozen times, and if I knew how horrible customer service was, I would've keep on moving. My last trip here happened to be a few minutes before they closed at 8 p.m. I was looking for purple shampoo and keratin conditioner since I recently dyed my hair blonde. I found the purple shampoo and just made up my mind on which keratin conditioner to purchase, until this man approached me. He looked very underdressed (for work) and untidy, at first I thought he was some random person who posed as a customer and went from store to store to ask people for money, until I realized he worked there. He looked at me and mumbled something very vaguely. "Excuse me?" I asked. I couldn't understand him at first. "We're closing," he said very sternly. "Oh, sorry about that, I will be on my way out now." I quickly paid for my things and saw him waiting by the door. He had a VERY annoyed face. I smiled at him and told him that I thought he was a customer when he approached me earlier and didn't realize that he worked there, just to try to liven up his mood. Without a response whatsoever, he looked at me blankly with very unwelcoming eyes. My smile quickly disappeared and I walked off in a huff. GOODNESS GRACIOUS. Where is your customer service etiquette? Let me tell you, I have worked in retail for 5+ years and I don't even want to begin with all of the horror stories that I have 'dealt' with, but you know what, despite it all...I managed to carry myself well and kept up with maintaining good customer service; the places that I have worked at have praised me for my excellent customer service skills. I understand that you may be having a bad day, but that's no excuse to treat customers in the way you did. You think closing at 8 p.m. is tough? Try working overtime at the mall, while your feet are aching in pain, during the holidays when the earliest you'd go home is 2 in the morning.
