I made an appointment for here as soon as I found out there was a store near me in LA. It was pretty easy to get an appointment within the week, on Black Friday. When I showed up I was nervous it was closed because the door was locked, but the sales associate came out quickly. He was very nice and never felt pushy or rushed. He was available whenever I had a question but managed not to hover over me either. I was very interested to learn that Hakuhodo makes some of Sonia G's brushes, and used to make Tom Fords before he switched to synthetic. I was mainly seeking another eyeshadow brush set now that I am using eyeshadow daily and am very happy with the purchase. I was so embarrassed at checkout when I realized I had forgotten my wallet, after having drove 45 min to get here, and was luckily able to pay via PPal. The associate was very nice about this and it had started pouring while I was there, and he walked me to my car with an umbrella. The collection here is just beautiful; if you are into fude I highly recommend the trip. Service is top notch as well, they really go above and beyond.

4 special eye brushes from the J-series and Basic line; all high quality goat hair ~$100 total, tax included

I made a special trip from the Bay just to come here and it was soo worth it. You ring a doorbell to be let in and right in front is fude heaven! They have most of the brushes shown on the US website in store. The best part is that there's a small station where you can try out the brushes on yourself with makeup. All the brushes were clean--I'm pretty sure this is the reason why they ask people to make an appointment beforehand--so they can prepare everything for you! There's also a video shown on the side about the history of Hakuhodo and the manufacturing process. A lot of people think Hakuhodo is crazy expensive, but depending on the series (such as the J-series and Basic line) the price is comparable to MAC except wayyy more soft, especially since MAC has switched over to all synthetic (although Hakuhodo has a synthetic line too that's soo soft too!). Great brushes are a good investment that'll last forever and you really just pay once, hurt once. I wish I had never spent my money on those cheapo brands like Morphe because #1 the quality is incomparable and #2 cheaper brushes fall apart not to mention when you keep replacing it, it's going to cost as much as Hakuhodo anyway.

Their customer service dept said to go to the CDM Plaza store to return it. Unbeknownst to me, there is a store in Corona del Mar. Anyway, I went in and returned the item and ended up buying lots of other items with the help of the store manager, Yolanda Lopez. She was fantastic at suggesting things I would appreciate and giving me her honest opinion. I couldn't be happier with her service and want to give her the recognition she deserves for such outstanding service. I have been shopping at Bloomingdales etc for all my makeup needs. Not any longer! I suggest you try buying from Bluemercury.

He was very helpful, funny, and friendly. I wanted to stand there and talk forever but alas he's got a job to do other than chatting with me all day. He didn't rush me once he found the item I came to purchase. Actually he talked so highly about the products that I was inspired to more skin care products. The last three years I've only ordered my skincare online. But it's post-pandemic and time to get out there in the world. I was super happy I gave Bluemercuru a try. No shipping, no delivery boxes, no waiting.

I was specifically looking for an Aritaum…read morebecause the one near my friend's house in Koreatown has since closed, and I always had pleasant experiences there. I was genuinely excited to find one closer to me. When we arrived, I already knew which foundation I was looking for and just needed help finding my shade. We were greeted by the cashier, a middle-aged Asian woman, who was friendly at first and helped me search for my shade. She also mentioned that some items were on sale for their Black Friday event, so we were excited to continue shopping. My friend picked out a couple of lipsticks and went to the register first. When she handed them over, the cashier sternly said, "No sale on these items!" The tone was very off-putting. I immediately looked up, and my friend calmly replied, "Yeah, I know." The interaction felt extremely odd, especially considering how kind the cashier had been to me just moments before. I ultimately decided to skip the foundation and purchased a Laneige makeup serum instead. The cashier rang me up, and that was the end of our interaction. I understand that Aritaum locations are independently owned, and I know every store is different. However, my experience at the previous location was consistently great. I was often given many samples, which encouraged me to try new products and led to multiple purchases over time. At this location, I wasn't given any samples, which I understand--but that's not the main issue. The reason for my two-star review is what happened as we were leaving. My friend said, "That was the most racist experience I've had in a long time. I honestly think she was mean to me because of my skin complexion." When a salesperson clearly favors one customer and treats another paying customer differently, it's hard to ignore the possibility that this played a role. We were both polite, we both made purchases, yet my friend was treated poorly for no apparent reason. I don't feel comfortable supporting a business that: 1. Doesn't carry foundation shades beyond lighter complexions, and 2. Treats paying or even browsing customers in this manner. I'm really disappointed, because I was hoping this would be a place I could return to.

They don't offer refunds, only exchanges. There is a $10 minimum for credit card purchases. I purchased the glow serum with niacinamide by Beauty of Joseon. They sold it for $21, which is pricier than the online price. I know it sells for $17, but that doesn't include tax and shipping. I am okay with paying for convenience sometimes. I received some Laneige samples along with my purchase, which was nice. I've only used lip moisturizers, so I'm excited to try their other products. Overall, I had a great experience shopping at this location. I know there are other locations in Los Angeles. I'll be coming back!
