I went to this Ulta and this visit has just left a really bad taste in my mouth. I was waking around the store with my brother looking for a treatment that went viral online, I got approached by the manager and she looks for it but they didn't have it and she walks away.. but continued to hover. She then approached me three other separate times asking if I still need help when I had previously told her I'm just going to browse. I tell the same to other employees who keep lurking around me specially.. all of them I saw came up to me at least twice after I said onto help. Peeping between the empty slots of the makeup shelves, walking back & forth on the same isle slowly... I was walking around with my small backpack, and my brother for context. At that point if you're gonna have the whole store watch me like a hawk, and you're paranoid about my bag just admit your biases and ask me to leave it at the front honestly. I was paying attention to other shoppers, they were not doing the same thing to them to any degree. I worked at an Ulta before. I know you're meant to continuously try & help people, but this was to an excessive degree and honestly felt racially motivated. I also know they have cameras everywhere, so if they were paranoid check after. Don't actively have everyone follow me around. I was left really disappointed & uncomfortable, and I don't even want to set foot in this location cause it was not genuinely helpful, it was accusatory. read more

The reason why I'm giving 4 stars, is also the reason why I'm not giving Ulta 5 stars. Follow me here lol. Ulta overall, is just one of those piled on stores that carry.... everything including the kitchen sink, and for me, that's overwhelming. I personally prefer to shop online as it minimizes me spending more, I can be more precise about what I buy, there's no line, etc. But on this one day, I didn't want to shade-match online, so I went inside. I walked around, found 3 mini mascaras for $30, a new skin tint (that I was able to try on without any hassle), and I lastly, a new serum. The staff was attentive, asking me if I needed help with anything. Even at checkout, it was good experience and as the cashier activated some additional coupons for me, that saved me more money had I not! I haven't shopped at an Ulta for a very long time, so it was nice to be able to cruise the isles and check out everything they have. They were having a sale of professional style shampoos and conditioners (the bog bottles), so I was happy that I stopped by. That was my main purpose of visiting. After looking over all the hair products they had to offer, I settled for some Redken shampoo and conditioner that's originally $42 for only $29.99. I purchase this cute white cat headband which had been on my wish list for a while. All of the other items I purchased was on clearance/sale so I couldn't pass them up because it was a good deal to me. They've added some REALLY good brands to this location within the last year or so- lines such as MAC, Morphe, Smashbox, Urban decay, Buxom, Kylie, Tarte, Anastasia, Color Pop, Jeffrey Star, Revolution & others - to stay competitive & they needed to. The usual dept. store/ counter brands are there e.g. Clinique, Lancôme, etc., as well as drugstore reliables like LA Girl, Maybelline, L'Oréal, Revlon, cover girl, NYX, Ulta's brand and more. Additionally skincare lines such as Dr. Brandt, Murad, Mario Badescu, Peter Thomas Roth, dermalogica also have product placed. Bath and body items such as philosophy, Hempz, body shop, bliss, etc. They've added a few more product specialist & staff to the floor, who greeted & seemed eager to help. (I'm well versed on different lines so I'm ok being greeted, & left alone to browse at leisure. At best, I just need a sharpener, wipes, brush cleaner & alcohol, and maybe someone to check in the back, if an item is out. I wasn't hounded which is good and Ms. Charlie was there to help when asked. Where they can improve: the units & testers need to be better cleaned, maintained and stocked. This should be done throughout the day-- many looked dusty or messy- Lipsticks, foundations or other creamy products looked like they haven't been swiped or cleaned in months. Many were broken, melted, dripping, crusty or housed empty testers etc. I noticed this browsing the displays and simply testing on my hand. I had to check to make sure I hadn't gotten anything on my clothes, unwittingly. Concluding, there's soooo many brands here to test, try & take home, (you can get lost in here and loose track of time easily) & trust, you'll end up with more than you came for. {It just really needs to be stocked and maintained, diligently! (Thus 3 stars vs 5)There isn't a lot of traffic on off -peak times, so surely staff can be more proactive in this area throughout the day; This way, it's not overwhelming and or left to closing when employees just wanna get home. I hope they'll do better with this, after all It's part of the job and in keeping with safety standards--It's cosmetics. I walked away with some goodies & added the app, so I could pull what was not in store. I do like that they have a large variety of things at Ulta at various price points i.e. high/ low brands. This is what sets it apart from its competitors. from teeth whitening systems, and an array of hair, skin, cosmetics, perfume, accessories, carry cases, jewel organizers, etc. I can get pretty much what I need in one place. This is what keeps me coming back. If that weren't enough, there's also a brow bar from shaping and a salon which you can book online, which includes stylists of color that are experienced with pattern & texture. Busy place with lots of inventory. Not a huge markdown in prices from what I can tell. The staff was friendly and were helpful. It's a huge location and I had no idea it was here until someone pointed it out to me. I found some of the same stuff they had on sale at TJ Max for 50% less. They try to get you on the accessories like the electric brushes and crap like that. Not a lot of men's stuff but some nice hair and cologne lines. First of all, just love this Ulta store and the people in it. It's always a wonderful experience and everyone is super kind and knowlegeable. But the BEST part is Ashley at the salon! I made an appointment last minute because I'd been growing out my hair and color for over a year and needed it fixed up for a photo shoot. I wasn't expecting anything amazing, just something that looked more polished. It was not an easy task - my hair had like three different layers of color, absolutely no dimension, and had good 3-4 inches of roots! Plus I didn't even know what the best thing to do with it was. But she was so kind and helpful and made a plan with me. She really made sure she knew what I liked and also what would actually work with my hair (thin and fine.) She also chose something that matched my desire as far as upkeep, which is huge, because usually I find salons don't really support you when you tell them you want something you *don't* have to come back in to maintain. Anyway, it's the best hair I've ever had! I feel like an Instagram Model or Pinterest girl hahaha. I'm someone who is normally not particularly happy with my hair even when it's done beautifully, so for me to be this happy with it really says something. Can't recommend her enough! read more

Horrible customer service. When I asked them they about a particular bronzer the lady try to sell me another one that was similar. When I said I didn't want to buy that one she got all agitated. She then went over to another employee and started talking about how I wouldn't buy the other bronzer even if they are basically the same. Not my favorite Ulta to go to, but the only one in the area, so I guess that's that. I come here occasionally when I have a coupon or there is a specific sale that I'm interested in. If something's on sale, though, they probably won't have it in stock. Or rather, they will have extra of whatever it is stored away, and only put out one or two at a time. Multiple times now, I've had to ask employees if they have more of ___, and they just pull open the drawer underneath the shelf and and give one to me, but don't bother putting any more out. Not really sure why they feel the need to hoard the products? Anyway, not sure if it's just this Ulta or they all do this, but no signs or anything indicating what the sales are. Love Ulta!! I can always find the drugstore beauty products here, ALWAYS! The prices for these items are extremely reasonable and many times are better than Walmart and Target! Ulta even accepts manufacturers coupons. What, a great deals and they take coupons, score!!! This store is very neat and clean and have awesome items in their clearance section!! Also, they have fragrances that are currently in the department stores as well as makeup products!! Love this store! If you have manufacturers coupons, don't forget them before your transaction is over! My Mom introduced to Ulta in Chicago, I have been quite the fan mostly due to coupons. If you can hold off until Monday, Ulta has a $3.50 off of $10.00 coupon EVERY Sunday in the paper. If you become a Ulta rewards member, you will get EVEN more coupons in the mail. They also accept manufacture coupons for your every day products like Johnson and Johnson, Oil of Olay type stuff. No coupons for Studio Gear, Urban Decay or Stilia.....although...Studio Gear seems to have some cool gifts like brush kits and purses. Ulta has a little bit of everything. On one side of the store is the cheap stuff that you would find in Walgreens and CVS and on the other side they have the high end stuff you would find at Nordstrom's or Macy's. It's kind of nice to be able to compare by walking to the other end of the store. They have something for everyone one. If you don't like either, they their own line of cosmetics which is OK. Their lip pencils have been pretty good, but their nail polish..not so much. If you're looking for high end make up, Sephora is probably a better choice. Sephora also seems to have better accessories, brushes and little beauty tools. But I'll go to Ulta for everyday stuff. I would frequent Sephora more if they had as many coupons as Ulta did. read more

I looooooooooove Ulta! They have everything you could possibly want under one roof, are always well stocked, and they constantly send out great coupons. Plus their store brand is pretty great; I actually prefer their $8 liquid eyeliner to the $20 Stila eyeliner marker I used to use. I always expect to pop in and out to just grab what I need but I inevitably end up browsing for much longer and pick up things I didn't know I wanted. The staff is maybe not quite as knowledgeable as Sephora and they are lacking in the brush department but for me the pros far outweigh the cons. read more

What the heck has happened to this Ulta? When it opened several years back, it was wonderful. It had a great selection of both drugstore and high-end products, as well as an amazing selection of haircare products. I was able to do all of my personal care shopping in one place, and the bi-weekly coupons were excellent. In the last year or so, this location in particular has taken a nose dive. Nothing is EVER in stock. I have been looking for a particular shade of lipgloss that has seemingly been out of stock for a year. This is especially prevalent in mass-market cosmetics but is also a huge problem in salon haircare. Oh! And when they DO have stock, it's just sitting in large carts blocking the aisles, with no one bothering to put the product out. The shelves are in complete disarray and the store is straight-up dirty. Some of this may lie with Ulta Corporate - like I said, stock is absolutely horrible - but it's management's responsibility to keep the store looking clean and presentable. This store is high traffic, and I get that it can be a struggle at times. But it's no excuse to look like it's a constant going-out-of-business sale. It sucks because they sell many products that are not available or are very difficult to find elsewhere. I've found myself driving out to the Crofton location to buy my bodywash because I figure the one in Annapolis just isn't going to have it. Seriously, Ulta, shape up. read more

I walked in and was welcomed by someone who yelled by the cash register. I walked around for about 4 minutes before anyone asked if they could help me. She was awesome and even recommended an eyeliner that just came out from the same brand I wanted. There were probably 10-15 customers in the store with just as many employees. The horrible thing..... one register open so as you can imagine the line was terrible with about 8 people before someone came and opened another. I went hoping to get brow tinting at the brow bar, but unfortunately they booked for the day and I was unable to get a walk-in appointment. I was also in need of new foundation and concealer, and as soon as I walked towards the make up I was greeted by a friendly and very helpful employee! Danielle was so kind and so helpful! Saw Nina to get my hair bleached. The time is longer than the website states, however I have a ton of hair so consistently expect to be in a chair longer than any website will ever tell me. She is super personal, and very detail oriented. She knew exactly what I was asking for and has yet to disappoint me. She's also honest in her opinion. I saw Gina for a hair cut. She was very attentive and washed and dried my hair, and took a long time cutting. This is in the top 4 worst haircuts I have ever received. One side was choppy. The other side was badly cut. I came home and fixed my hair. Good thing I have some basic skills! :) I evened things out and it looks decent now! I learned my lesson to stay with my salon that charges more but does a consistently excellent job. read more

Zero stars!! The hair salon is the WORST!! They fried my hair and turned it orange!!! Do NOT go there, you WILL regret it!! I just had to have 4 inches cut off my hair, after the partial highlight/low light I had done 3 weeks ago. I was told my hair was TOO damaged to fix the color and would have to wait to grow out my hair before even think about putting any more chemicals on my hair. My hair is NOW breaking all the way up to the roots. Never ever had that problem before, I used to be able to wash my hair and go, I can't do that anymore because it is so damaged it is a fizz ball. I left looking worse than when I walked in. Then she tried to tell me some BS I am still laughing at...my hair is pigmented differently in different spots on my head...HUH?? WTF??? I arrived at about 12:50, for a 1 pm appointment. It is 1:30, and I am still waiting. The last 3 times I have been here, there has been some type of issue. This time, it is being blamed on the computer appointment system. Waiting more than 30 minutes is not acceptable to me. The manager has not come to see me at all during this time. All I intend to do today is a simple cut, as the last several times, the cot process has taken 4+ hours. I get one process gray coverage, nothing fancy. My cut was done well and quickly. The stylist did blow dry and style. The cost of $37 is a acceptable; however, I am still disappointed in the 30+ minute wait. I often come in here without makeup on because I want to have a clean face to try out new products. And every time I do, I get ignored by the employees. The last time I was here, I was here for 2 hours trying products out. And in that time one employee spoke to me. After I had been there about an hour. It wasn't busy, the store was dead. She was carrying something and sort of did the programmed "doing okay?" but then didn't actually listen to my answer. The amount of things out of stock here is ridiculous. If you go in looking for a specific product there's about a 50% chance that it's not in stock. And if you can actually get an employee to talk to you, they'll tell you they don't know when it's coming back in stock. read more

The salon service experience is the worse! My daughter was crying after 4 - 5 hours ordeal getting her hair done. After all that time the color and cut was horrible. Of course I complained to the salon manager about the color and the cut was uneven. Guess what the salon manager said, oh I'll give you a credit for the cut and didn't even bother to offer to fix the problem. Some manager!! I was so disappointed with the whole ordeal. If I can only give less than one star I would. I really want to bring this up to Ulta's Corporate Office because this is NOT how you treat your customers. This is the first time we are treated this way ..... anywhere. Your salon service is beyond pathetic that you should not even operate or call it a hair salon and or set expectations to your customers that you will not get what you want or leave happy but unsatisfied. And of course the "salon manager " will NOT help or offer to help fix the issue. This is really unacceptable how we were treated!!! Beware!!! Never go to get your hair done at Ulta's salon! The only good thing about Ulta are the sales ladies but that's it. Salon should be close or get ethics and hair training and never let your customers feeling horrible, unhappy and unsatisfied before they leave and treated like we were not a paying customers. Love Ulta! So many options that range from your cheap brand (NYX, E.L.F.), typical drugstore brand to the elite brand cosmetics. I came here to get an glitter base gel for my eyes that was difficult to find without paying shipping cost online and not only did they have it, but I ended up doing a complete haul. Went here earlier today. I love makeup and watch tons of videos, but I am by no means a professional and usually ask for help/direction in the store. I usually feel intimidated by the girls who work here or Sephora but today I felt totally at ease! A girl named Alexa helped me and she was as sweet as could be. I am self conspicuous about my skin and wanted help picking out products that wouldn't make it worse. Not only did she tell me my skin was beautiful, but she also helped me pick out some great products for it.
