Everything about Uley's Cabin was amazing, so much so that we actually went twice on our 5 day trip. We had a larger group for the first day and split a few appetizers and entrees. Proportions are very generous. Highly recommend the pork belly app, NY strip and Coq Au Vin. They also have a few kid options but you have to ask as it is not on the regular menu. I have been to Uleys cabin several times and loved it. I've been coming since I was 4. They have cozy places to hang by the fire and I have enjoyed the food. I stopped in today to hang by the fire and order a drink like I have done hundreds of times before and an incredibly rude employee told me that the hang by the fire was only with people for reservations. He was incredibly rude and mean spirited. I moved outside under the awning because I was not allowed to warm up. He then came outside and proceeded to yell at me and tell me that I couldn't stand there. So I had to sit outside in the freezing cold further. Sir I hope your pillow is warm on both sides and you stub your toe on every corner you pass. The people at the bar were great though. Friendly, helpful, and quick. read more

Fine dining on the mountain. It was fantastic. We started with a tossed salad. it was not your normal tossed salad. it had greens, hacima, cuke, carrot and grapefruit tossed with just the right amount of pear vinegrette. The entree was buffalo short ribs in a demiglaze cooked to perfection. The orzo in a cheese sauce was scrumptious as were the veggies. we topped our meal off with coffee and a generous slice of crème brûlée cheese cake. Stopped in while skiing on Christmas Day and truly had such an amazing experience! The food was to die for-- especially the stroganoff! It's definitely pricey, but worth it for a little splurge on a special occasion! They were understaffed on Christmas yet they still provided a great experience. This place is OK for a premium dining experience in the middle of a ski resort. The food was a bit salty and both of us had digestive issues in the evening after having lunch there. Nothing extreme, but noticeable. The menu and food is unremarkable. It was a very comfortable place to take a break from skiing, and if I go back that will be why. It won't be for the food. We wanted a good lunch place on or by the mountain and chose Uleys since it was the closest thing to elevated cuisine. The only way to get there is to ski. Getting there was fine but scared me to death on the way down since it is a double green. I ended up walking down some of the steep slopes. Yes, I am very cautious and don't want to break something. Because of that I stopped skiing the rest of the day because I was so frazzled. I digress. The place itself is adorable and cozy with a fire and comfy seating. There are places to hang your coats and leave your helmets. The ambience and the hostess, who was very sweet and helpful bussing tables, are the only reason for the 2 stars. The food was not good. The soup had to be sent back because it was cold. It happened to the people at the next table as well. The panzenella salad didn't make sense and needed an acid. It had no flavor. The mussel dish was small and was just OK. The pasta dish was also bland. We didn't even stay to look at dessert because the food wasn't good and also because it took forever for our server to get around to us and didn't want to add another half hour to our lunch. This place has so much potential and is so unique in its location. I wish the food would improve. read more

So disappointing, I took my family of five and nobody enjoyed their meal. Bison was dry, Frites were not house made, and the chimmichuri was bland. Mushroom soup was separated and greasy. Poutine was soggy. Stroganoff was about 6 bites. I could go on and on. My bill was over $600 and still had to go out for an early dinner because my family was still hungry. Only reason I gave them one star was because the service was descent. Avoid this place and save your money. Total rip-off. read more

What was once unique, fun, and good eats, is now simply common. Why are they still calling it "Ice bar". After many years of enjoying delightful staff and great outdoor food options at the bar, we now see bored staff with poor food options. Bring back the charcuterie board! We've seen a LOT of things change on the mountain over the past couple years and they are mostly disappointing, this place included. Luckily the Paradise bar provides an option on the mountain. Another fabulous lunch on the mountain. The food is excellent. We each had a bowl of soup, I had the butternut squash soup topped with a crunchy piece of duck confit, so good. The mushroom soup was again delicious. My husband had the salad with flat iron steak, perfectly medium rare. My salad was over the top delicious, mushroom salad, so good, mushrooms were crispy, great salad. Again, a treat to eat at this great mountain restaurant. Next ski season, we are definitely trying the dinner and sleigh ride. read more

Super cool place to stop half way down the mountain. They have an ice bar outside with great selection, they also have a very nice sit down type restaurant inside with a fire place. We went to Uley's over Christmas. We had a group of 8, 6 adults and 2 preteen children. The idea of it is very fun. We all loaded up in a sleigh drawn by a snowcat. There were plenty of blankets to snuggle up under. One of the hosts was nice enough to tell us the best seat, where to minimize the diesel smell. The menu is pre fixed, which is fine. The food was good, but not spectacular. Where I have the biggest issue - they called and asked me if we had children and would they like something other than the standard menu. I told them one of the children would like the noodle offering. This is spaghetti and butter with a touch of Parmesan. They charged $125.00 of less than $1.00 worth of food. That is completely ridiculous!! They did not have a full 5 course kids menu. They did not just sub out the entree for noodles. All she got were noodles! I understand there is limited seating and have to make X dollars to stay in business, but that is uncalled for. Because of this I would warn all parents to double check on pricing before you buy your child a $125 plate of butter noodles. read more

And I thought Butte 66 was bad...the lunch on the deck of Uleys was absolutely the worst meal I've had at Crested Butte Mountain. $10 for a cold over boiled hot dog. $12 for over cooked and dry pulled pork. No soft drinks for kids. Poor service. Avoid the deck! In the past, we've had good experiences with the indoor restaurant, but it was so bad on the deck I'm not sure we'll come back. read more

We went to Uley's every day during our trip, once just for drinks, because we liked it that much. If you aren't hungry and just want a drink you can warm up by the fire with a glass of wine or a cocktail. The Alpine 75 and the coffee with all the different liquors were both delightful. The first day we had the duck and the bison steak, both were delicious. The crab hush puppies are a must. The next time we had soup, kale salad, and meatballs. Everything was great! The wine list is good but it's not as extensive as some of the mountain top restaurants in other places like vail. They had a delicious pinot noir that paired well with the duck and bison. The service is fantastic. It's also nice to have a clean and less crowded restroom on the mountain. It's pretty easy to ski over from Red Lady or teocali. The only bad part is we never figured out how to ski to any other lift from Uley's, you have to go back to red lady which is crowded. It was way to cold to visit the ice bar but it looks awesome! They have a different, kind of more affordable menu. read more

Uley's and the Ice Bar were our absolute favorite - I mean, it's the BEST place for apres ski in CB. On the mountain, there are a couple different runs to can take to get there, and you ski in and ski out to get down the rest of the way down the mountain. Uley's is the restaurant part of the establishment - it's housed inside a little cabin, which looks rustic on the outside, but inside it's 4-star quality. The menu looked great, and we almost ate lunch there our last day, but they were out of Turkey Pot Pies (before noon!) so a disappointed Scuba Steve nixed the idea. You can also do dinner and either take a sleigh ride down or ski down with headlamps - either way is super cool and I'm hoping we plan for that on our next trip!!! The Ice Bar is the bar on the outside of Uley's - it's an outdoor bar who's bar surface is sovered with snow - so Ice Bar isn't just a clever name. We met some couples that have been skiing CB for years and they told us that this is the new incarnation of the Ice Bar - apparently the old one was totally made of ice! While not as cool, the new Ice Bar is still my fave. It's got an additional outdoor seating area with tables and chairs, but you really want to be up at the bar. They have your usual drinks, but we were liking the Colorado Bulldogs (they make them strong!) - but they tend to run short of beer (as Butch found out the hard way). Keep in mind that things have to get delivered up to this part of the mountain via snowmobile! The bartenders are great, and really nice - they're also good to ask for dinner and bar recommendations in town. It's a neat place to sit and drink apres ski, get to know other skiers, and get a little snockered before skiing all the way to the base for a little hot tubbing and more apres ski. We liked it so much that we were literally (nicely) kicked out of the bar by the snow patrol doing their final sweeps! Get there somewhat early, though - last call is at 4 pm - so I would aim for a 3 pm arrival time. Lunch is good too! By far the coolest bar in CB, and the best place to chill on the mountain!!! Fun experience overall. Went here for dinner which included a snowcat-pulled sleigh ride up to the cabin restaurant and back down afterwards. HIGHLY recommend you wear snow pants over your outfit to stay dry and warmer. When you get up to the restaurant you can warm up by the fireplace, then you're seated at your reserved table. They'll bring you wassail and a meat and cheese board to start. Yum! Then they served bread with 3 flavored butters (red wine & paprika: my fave; cinnamon honey; and garlic herb). Next we moved onto a mushroom soup which was very good... even the people I was with that typically don't like mushrooms or mushroom soup ate their entire bowl. Next we had an amuse bouche. This was a strange course for me because 1) in my experience it's served before any other food as a way to excite the palate for what's to come and 2) it means "a little bite" and it's typically 1-2 bites period. But here it was served half-way through the meal and it was the size of a full portion of food. It was some sort of salmon with a cream sauce which no one at our table liked.... and it was so large my friend thought it was supposed to be her entree and she said, "oh sorry, I ordered the steak instead", not realizing it was the amuse bouche. Next came our entrees. My friend pre-ordered the vegetarian option which was a risotto, and my other friend ordered the filet. Both of them really liked their dishes, but I felt mine was best: which was the duck breast, cooked perfectly. I ordered a nice Pinot Noir to compliment it. Dessert was a flourless chocolate cake with a vanilla orange homemade ice cream, which my friends devoured but I'm weird and hate orange-flavored foods as well as chocolate, so I didn't eat it. All in all, lovely experience, great service, good food, and a wonderful memory. read more

The bartender on the ice bar was one of the best bartenders ever. He was quick and helpful. This is a very special place. It is reservation only and I took my girlfriend here after I got my ass handed to me by the black diamond runs above this place. We definitely earned our lunch. This rustic cabin has the perfect combination of ambiance and the snow was coming down as we ate. I ordered the special Elk Boulignon which was braided for 10 hours and served over whipped Yukon gold potatoes. I could not have asked for a better meal in the environment we were in. It was one of the most special meals I have had with my girlfriend. They have house made garlic and herb butter and wine infused butter which both were delicious. If you are ever skiing in Crested Butte make a reservation that you will never forget. read more

Obsessed with Uley's. Every since Camp 4 Coffee closed down on the mountain this is our go to spot for afternoon drinks. Fantastic wine, beer and charcuterie plate. Celebrated our engagement here for brunch and the food was equally as tasty. On a warm day sit outside at the ice bar or warm up by the fire inside! The new duck entree is the best food I've had on a mountain, bar none. Interior is so cool too, love the whole cabin on the mountain experience. DO NOT HAVE YOUR WEDDING HERE! The service was terrible and NOT worth the cost. First of all, for the location and the amount of money spent, the servers should have at the very least forced their happy voices. They were rude, incompetent, UNORGANIZED and couldn't have cared less about my sisters special day. Really, they were so bad. Wearing fleeces and pouty faces for a wedding? Get real people. We have many vegan/vegetarian friends and although they had a delicious option available, they served them to the wrong people and ran out of options leaving two dear friends to eat salted potatoes and nothing else. The bartender also over served a guest and closed the bar an hour early with no compensation to the bride and groom. And the staff lied to a friend who had brought a bottle up with her saying she would return it to her at the end of the night since she had not opened it - instead they put it down the drain. These people care about one thing - NOT DOING THEIR JOB. read more

Ice Bar is a terrific concept and a fabulous place for a cocktail on the mountain on a sunny day. We stop nearly every day we ski. Only issue is there was no ice at the ice bar this year! And they try to close up between 3:30-4:00 which is a little too early for après ski. read more

This is a great stop along the way down the frontside of Crested Butte. The drinks are generally good, as is the service. Last time we were there we had a surly bartender, which was a drag. Hopefully they continue to do what they've done in the past, which staff the bar with friendly servers who pour great drinks. read more

The thought of the sleigh ride up the mountain to a fabulous dinner sounds great! The sleigh ride is the best part. we had all skied that day, was tired and wanting a warm hearty meal. (We think Crested Butte has some of the best restaurants) the sleigh ride was fun and cold. You get to this great little cabin on the mountain and they offer you warm cider, which is good. From there it's down hill!! Portions a very small and that would be ok if it were good, most our table didn't eat half of what they brought. The service was good. But sadly we will not reign unless the food changes. Although we loved the experience it is pricey. And my family was looking for something to eat as soon as we got to the bottom of the mountain. read more
