Charbroiled Oysters
Elisa D.

My favorite place EVER!!!!!! I've been to Ulele more times than I can count, and it never disappoints. I've had the lobster roll three times now and it's easily one of the best in Tampa. And the charbroiled oysters... THE BEST!!! The atmosphere is always top notch, the food is heavenly, and it's one of those places I'll keep coming back to again and again. The service has always stayed friendly and consistent.

Award winning meatloaf by Food Network.

Best location on Riverfront. Access by car or water taxi. Beautiful views with indoor and outdoor seating. Casual to a special date night, this location has a vibe for any occasion. Valet parking is so simple. Superb quality with menu items for any appetite, from seafood to Water Works Meatloaf (best meatloaf by Food Network). Service professional and friendly. Enjoy a cocktail or wine outside or at the bar or stay for dinner. It's worth your visit and a great idea for gift cards.

If I'm ever in Tampa I always make a point to make it to Ulele. Always consistent. Good vibe, great food, wonderful service. I always order the Pompano (I rarely take food photos but this time I did!) and it's always delicious. Today I brought my 2 sons who both enjoyed their kid's menu offerings. Our server Sophie was sweet and very attentive. Can't wait to return!

Blackened redfish no longer on menu :(

Ulele is a Tampa staple and one of the first places I bring any guests visiting town. Located at Armature Works right on the water, it has both indoor and outdoor seating, an open kitchen, and even a microbrewery on site. We always get the charbroiled oysters, which are so fun to watch them make, and the seafood risotto. I'm still heartbroken that they removed the blackened redfish from the menu. I once brought a friend visiting from Germany who told me it was the best fish she had ever had, and I completely agree! Everything I've had here has been delicious, and the service is always great. Definitely a Tampa must-visit.

Native Chili : 5 of 5 - This wasn't the best chili I have had, but it was an experience to try all the unique meats together in a scrumptious dish. Alligator, board, venison, and duck all in one dish really worked and stood out for sure. It was a bit salty though. Okra Fries 5 of 5: somehow something so simple can be the best dish I had. Highly recommend this appetizer. Waterworks Meatloaf 4 of 5: it was a good Meatloaf, but the description does make it sound better than it was. The meat needed a bit of seasoning in the mix. But, the sauce on top of the Meatloaf was loaded with garlic and definitely made the dish, just wish there was more of it. Overall experience and interior was great and the service excellent. It was definitely the best meal we had on this trip.

Came here for a business dinner. They ordered several appetizers for the table Fried Green Tomato "BLT" (Pork belly, pimiento cheese, frisée, tomato jam), Gator Tail (Chili-marinated Fresh From Florida alligator, dusted in seasoned flour, flash-fried, with spicy remoulade) and Calamari (Crispy fried North Atlantic calamari, lightly battered and flash-fried with pickled jalapeño peppers, Florida citrus glaze and fiery-sweet chili aioli). I thought all were very good along with the Karson's Jalapeño Corn Beer Muffins (Roasted fresh corn, pickled jalapeño, Ulele Pale Lager and creamed corn -- baked daily and served with whipped butter). I ordered the WORK OF ART cocktail (Dutch Barn vodka, pineapple amaro, Aperol, fresh pineapple juice, fresh-squeezed lime juice and simple syrup). Really good! For my entree I went with the Seafood Risotto (Pan-seared shrimp and sea scallops, butter-poached lobster claw, crawfish tail meat, saffron risotto, charred corn cream sauce and seasonal vegetable). It was good and had plenty of seafood in it but the green beans were a little undercooked. I wish I had gone with the Water Works Meatloaf my coworker chose because it was featured as "Best Thing I Ever Ate" by Food Network celebrity Chef Robert Irvine. He was not disappointed in the least. The highlight of the meal was the Bourbon Butter Cake (With house-made Ugandan vanilla bean ice cream, whipped cream, blackberry). Proportions of cake to ice cream were just right. Cake was moist and not too dense and "We All Scream for Ice Cream"! Absolutely would order this again! Part of our group arrived before us and had already been seated. Never really felt that we were waiting for the server for drink refills. The building was very cool and validated parking.

Another great experience! Came here with some friends for dinner. Started off at the outside bar for a drink. I ordered the Ulele Sunrise, which is Casa Noble Blanco tequila, muddled cucumbers, mango purée, freshly squeezed lime juice, triple sec, and simple syrup. I swapped the tequila out for their Dutch Barn vodka. This was delightfully refreshing and delicious! Would definitely recommend this and get again!

Fresh Calamari

Not a local, but I've visited this place every time I've been in Tampa because I just enjoy the food so much. The fish, alligator bites, chicken - doesn't matter what protein it is - all taste fresh and delicious. On this visit, we tried the soft shell crab and couldn't get enough! The combination of spices and ingredients were well paired. Even our salad was on point. Adding 4 stars because although the food was great, the drinks selection was not on the same level. If you're not a drinker, the mocktail I tried was also average (a bit on the sweeter side), so be sure to ask your server for recommendations. Service was great and because they get so busy the service is efficient. Our server was nice, helpful, and energetic. Recommend reservations, to avoid long waits!

Quite the interesting place... not just based upon food but the location, the ambiance and the decor. Located just north of Downtown at the south end of the Heights... and it's great. Plenty of parking along the roadways, and in the nearby parking lots for the neighboring Water Works (city park) and Armature Works (food hall and social venue). They had valet for years but I'm not sure they still offer the service. The venue is huge... large red, brick building with outdoor sitting and a bar but they also have outdoor art to be impressed, a pond with fish for kids to admire, overlooking the Hillsborough River and lovely gardens (and all of it is maintained impeccable). The interior is industrial and a bit masculine but the views outside and more exhibits of art balance the atmosphere. Love the exposed kitchen and the glass wine enclosure under the stairs. The menu, as it was explained to me, was inspired by the indians that inhabited this area originally. I've been here numerous times but even with this latest visit, all my visits have been limited to lunch. Some of the dishes I have truly enjoyed: NATIVE CHILI: Not the typical ingredients but excellent nonetheless... rather than just beef and bean (as I am used to normally), this chili had alligator, boar, venison, duck, ground chuck and cranberry beans. CLASSIC BURGER: Ulele offers so many delicious dishes but sometimes a simple player is the way to go and the burger here does not disappoint... great balance of meat to cheddar cheese and those pickles are on-point. WATER WORKS MEATLOAF: I grew up loving meatloaf even though no one in my family made a good one (always ordered in restaurants); trying this one sets the bar to a new level... I'd enjoy that cabernet garlic demi-glaze all day everyday. PULCO CARPACCIO: Thin slices of octopus with a sauce that is rememberable (except for the name). Not sure if on the menu or if it was a special. As a fair warning, it does come off a bit touristy but the food is along with the atmosphere/decor is excellent...

Gouda grouper
Isa Y.

I had a great experience at Ulele! I ordered the Gouda Grouper, and it was so good that I finished every bite. The flavors were amazing, and it was definitely one of the best meals I've had in a while. I am gluten-free so it was nice they had this option. The atmosphere was one of my favorite parts. The building has an industrial, warehouse-style look with tons of unique décor that gives it a really fun vibe. Our waitress was incredibly nice, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. If you're in the Tampa area, I definitely recommend giving Ulele a try. I'll definitely be back!

Gulf Grouper
Ally L.

yum! We had a big group dinner here last night. We sat inside, the room was pretty busy so it wasn't super quiet but that was okay! Our waiter greeted us with waters and we ordered drinks and apps. The drinks came out quick and apps were quick to follow. We got shishito peppers, charbroiled oysters, fried green tomatoes, and the jambalaya shrimp. They were all delicious but the charbroiled oysters are always a hit! For dinner we all got different dishes, one of the most popular ones being the grouper. It was absolutely delicious! Would definitely come back!

Calamari and Clams
Laila C.

Ulele is a very fun spot with great food! The location is right by Armature Works and the bay. The service was great with lots of good recommendations. For drinks, we had the springside smash and the highland-rita, very good but strong. We got calamari and clams to start, which did not disappoint. For our mains, we got the trout, grouper, and pork shanks. The steelhead trout was the best; however, you can't go wrong with any of those dishes! To end the meal, we got coconut ice cream, which was a great way to end a great experience!

Lobster roll
Ji C.

We had a great dinner at Ulele in Tampa! We sat outside with our dogs, and the service was fantastic. Even when it started raining, the large umbrella kept us covered and comfortable. I ordered the meatloaf, and it was absolutely delicious! The location is also wonderful, with so much to do nearby. There's a beautiful walking path along the water, other bars and restaurants close by, and Armature Works is just around the corner. There's also free parking across the street, which is a great bonus. It's a great spot to enjoy a meal outdoors with your pups while taking in the area. We had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend Ulele!

Is there free parking for midweek lunch?

They have parking not too far. They also have valet option.

Is there a dress code?

Hi, Stephanie! Here's what is listed on Ulele's website: Dining atmosphere is casual elegance and while many guests wear formal attire, it is discretionary. Men must wear sleeves. If you are dressed in more relaxed attire, you may be seated in our…

Do they have kid's menu?

Yes they do

Is there a similar restaurant close by, they are already booked for the weekend?

Steelbach is one of the other nicer restaurants in Armature Works. Not far from there is a newer upscale restaurant called Rome & Fig, which is named for the SE corner it sits on: Rome Ave and Fig St. Smaller than Ulele but classy enough, nice…

Until what time do they serve lunch?

Lunch is served from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily.

Does Ulele have a happy hour, thanks?

No they do not. Was just there last night. They don't one because they say their prices are already fair

What kid items are available?

Yes they do have a kids menu with about 6 menu item choices.

Are there tables to sit by the water? How is the view? Or can you only see the water from the window inside?

Yes they do and the view is amazing. Especially at sunset 💕

Do you serve brunch buffet?

Hi Erika, sorry for the delay in response. We do not serve a brunch buffet.

Are you Pet Friendly?

There's outside seating & there were definitely plenty of pets around when I was there:)

Do you all accommodate dairy allergies? I'm having trouble finding a place for a friends birthday that has a good amount of options for dairy free.

I believe they do, but if not the Columbia does an AMAZING job accommodating any/all allergies - they have a special allergy menu, you just have to ask for it.

Can I get some details on the happy hour if there is one and if there is still an oyster happy hour as well?

No happy hour other than the oyster happy hour which I believe they still have. It's only on Tuesday's from 4-6 and they are $1 raw oysters. The offer is only available at the oyster bar.

Are any of the lunch items available at dinner time? i.e. hamburger or steak sandwich

While many items cross-over to the dinner menu, sandwiches like the steak sandwich and the hamburger are not on the evening menu

Can we ( should we - safe?) walk to the Straz center after dinner for a 7:30 show TKS

Yes, Janet. The Straz is about a 5 minute walk along the well-lit and popular Tampa Riverwalk at night.

Is valet parking available for Saturday early lunch - 11:30?

Our valet begins at 5 p.m. each day.

Is it possible to host a group of roughly 25? We're celebrating several birthdays.

Yes, we can. Please email groups@ulele.com for more details.

I called once on a Saturday and was told they only do to-go on weekdays. Called today and was told that they don't do to-go. Which one is it?

I don't think they do to go at all. This is a site down restaurant.

Do they have any special occasions for birthday, is this a good place to celebrate a birthday?

When you make your reservation, tell the restaurant by phone or via OpenTable. We do provide a little surprise at the end of the meal. Thanks for considering a celebration with us. Michael Kilgore, CMO

Delicious food with a lively atmosphere and welcoming staff - what more could you ask for?…read more I visited Oak and Ola for a birthday dinner and had an amazing time. Rather than trying to search for parking, we just paid $20 for the lot right nearby and it worked out great for us. We had a large group and our waiter, Zachary, was amazing. He had plenty of recommendations, anecdotes, stories, and jokes to keep everyone happy and full. He was definitely a highlight for all of us. We had a variety of drinks, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed them. I had the Sacred Empress and was so impressed with the balance of flavors - mostly sweet with a slight punch from the serrano cilantro simple syrup. It sounds funky but trust me on this! We also split a bottle of the Lagar De Costa Albariño, at the recommendation of our waiter, and we all loved it. For food, we started with the Lobster Ravioli, Truffle Frites, Crispy Pork Belly Bites, Crunch Love Caesar Salad, and Olives. All were devoured and I think the crowd favorites were the Lobster Ravioli (though expensive, $26 for 3) and the Pork Belly Bites. For mains, most people tended to get either the Steak Frites or the Gulf Fish Amandine (which was snapper). My steak and another at the table were both way overcooked on the first go around but they very quickly remade them (and the fries) and got them back to us in 5 minutes, perfectly cooked. It was a delicious and filling dish. The Gulf Fish Amandine was also really tasty, but it felt like it was missing something like a starch. It's a very simple and classic dish. The Pork Chop was also well loved amongst the table and many people wished they got it after trying a bite! For dessert, you absolutely have to get the Toffee Cake - it was everyone's favorite dessert. Super soft, warm, and comforting, plus that vanilla ice cream just took it to another level. We also enjoyed the Chocolate Mousse, and the free birthday dessert they kindly brought out for us. Overall, the restaurant is fun and lively, with an eclectic feel in the mismatched dining sets and decor. I really loved how it felt. It's definitely a nicer spot for a date or celebration, but worth it!

Now to the review: I loved that you could see part of the kitchen from the dining area. It's very open with a central bar and didn't feel crowded or congested even though it was busy. I walked in on a Saturday night with plenty of seating at the bar. I wish I could recall the bartenders name who served me because he was awesome. Arancini 9/10 - these were actually my favorite part of dinner. Crispy, great flavor and would get these again Crispy Pork Belly - 6/10 the pork itself didn't seem seasoned and slightly tough. The sauce was spicy which I wasn't expecting. Margarita Pizza 7/10 - great taste but the crust was super floppy. I prefer a much crispier crust Burger 7.5/10 - it was good but I'm not sure I would get again. Charred Brussel Sprouts 7/10 - charred nicely but seemed basically plain. They definitely needed the sauce in the bottom Basque Cheesecake 8/10 - first time trying basque cheesecake and maybe the burnt flavor isn't for me so giving it a 8 because otherwise I thought it was good. Sticky toffee cake 8.5/10 - great taste but wanted the texture to be better. It sort of felt like a dry sponge and would have preferred a more dense cake personally I heard a lot of hype about this place so I had high expectations going. I'll admit, I was a little let down with my experience. There was a ton of things I wanted to try but of the things I selected, I'm not sure I'd go back to chance trying the others. Simply my preference and each their own. It is a great vibe with great staff and I did like the tastes of a few things. It's good, not great. Being about to take a scenic walk after dinner is nice too. Fair warning, parking was insane. I paid $20 to park in a grass lot due to a car show / event going on down there. I recommend this place at least once. I had higher hopes and I'll chalk it up to an off night which is why it's a 4 and not a 5 in my book.

My first experience was probably a year and a half ago, it wasn't terribly busy, just a happy hour timeframe, had a cocktail or 2 and some apps, shared. I wasn't terribly impressed, it seemed fine, although pretty pricey. But did enjoy the ambiance, it was slightly elevated. I thought I'd come back and give it another shot. My next visit for lunch was nice, the food was good and service was adequate. Nothing special. My last visit, which was just a couple weeks ago. We were seated at a strange table with the end of the table sharing some odd booth-like chairs that didn't seem to be a part of the same group. But we were. The music was ridiculously loud and we were unable to hear one another. Just speaking to the person directly next to me and across from me was all I could speak to and we all had to yell over the music. It seemed to get louder at some point, even, which was ridiculous. I ordered a mocktail. It was pretty good. I ordered a steak - requested "medium ++, not medium well, but above medium". I received a medium RARE steak, at best. They had to put it back on the grill to make it basically medium well. At $62 for an a la carte steak - and this is not a steakhouse - this is unacceptable. At least they remade the separate side I ordered so it would be hot with the re-cooked steak. The service was fine, it wasn't exceptional, the ambiance was still the same - yet this last time was an attempt to appear trendy with the 30-somethings. Well overpriced, the food isn't spectacular even to justify the price, although the presentation was lovely. Too loud (yeah, call me old)... But when you want to talk with your friends, this is not the place. I learned after the fact that the upstairs which has another bar and also a decent amount of dining space, has a DJ spinning beats which is fed through the sound system downstairs, the music downstairs was louder than upstairs. That's just weird. Apparently just not my scene.

The decor is sophisticated without feeling pretentious, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The service was polished, attentive, and well-paced, allowing us to enjoy the evening without feeling rushed. It's lively- too loud for a first date. The highlight of the meal was the tableside chicken Parmesan, which we tried with both vodka sauce and traditional marinara. Both preparations were excellent, and the tableside presentation was a nice touch. It's refreshing to see a restaurant put this much effort into both the food and the dining experience. The only minor criticism was the lasagna, which was slightly oversalted. A little more restraint with the seasoning would have made it a much better dish. As someone who appreciates good Italian cooking, I particularly enjoyed the attention to presentation and the opportunity to experience two different preparations of a classic dish. Olivia's gets a lot of things right. Beautiful surroundings, professional service, and well-executed food made for a memorable evening. Definitely a restaurant I would return to. Lots of gf options

Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and the cocktails were unique and dreamy. And all in an easy breezy space that feels like spring. Oh! I love happy surprises! It's a creative and intriguing menu. We ordered the chips and pimento as a starter (yum! And a huge portion!). One friend had the steak and egg sandwich. Another, had the quiche. I ordered the grilled cheese with bacon and jalapeños. It was rich and gooey with the best-cooked bacon I've ever had. I was giddy. And, a moment for the French fries, please. Wow, they were good!! That perfect balance of crispy/soft... good batter... perfectly seasoned. All this for $16. Yes! Delighted!! Everyone enjoyed their food. The drink menu is inspired... especially the cocktails. I had two bright and zingy drinks: the "selfies in Tulum" (gorgeous purple color and a floral/herbal flavor profile-so fresh-nothing syrupy or sweet)... and the Coral Bay (gin and cucumber-another bright and super refreshing blend). All of this hit the spot. And there are so many enticing blends on the menu left to try. Yes! Delighted. Our server was so friendly, engaging and cheerful. She made great suggestions and took such good care of us. She was a joy. There's a whimsical feel to this place--like everyday is the weekend-with lots of big windows. There are tables and high tops, plus some bar seating. There are outdoor tables as well. The parking lot isn't huge, but all three of us had no trouble finding a spot on a late Saturday morning. It was busy, with a happy hum... but not crowded or cramped-and not too loud. This was an all-star experience. I truly can't wait to go back.

However, I ordered a yummy seasonal salad with golden beets as well as a side of fries and both were phenomenal. I've thought about that salad a few times since, and the fries were absolutely delicious. Cooked to perfection! Our server was very friendly and efficient, our reservation for dinner was right on time, and we had a lovely experience overall. I like restaurants that let you linger to catch up with friends over delicious food - because that's the whole point isn't it? The parking here was pretty easy, but I could see that it fills up fast.

We sat at the bar for happy hour, and of course, I had to order one of everything on the happy-hour snack menu. The bartender was incredibly friendly and made some great drinks. The tuna tartare was delicious! The cold crunch from the watermelon, the brininess of the capers, and the sweet, zippy dressing all complimented each other perfectly. Magical. The cauliflower was perfectly grilled and had just the right amount of salty funk from the blue cheese. The Iberico skewer literally fell apart in my mouth. It was so well seasoned, and the mole sauce? I could've licked it right off the plate. But I didn't. Unfortunately, we were in public. The gnocchi?! I thought it was going to be super heavy, but somehow it was still light despite its creamy texture. So good. Of course, I couldn't stop there. We also ordered the prawns which were DELICIOUS and quite literally the largest prawns I've ever seen. Almost the entire thing was edible! And then there was the fish collar -- literally my favorite thing I ate tonight. Sweet, tangy, salty... just literally YUM. You'll definitely be getting your hands dirty with this one, but it's worth it. Absolutely loved everything we ordered. Will definitely be coming back!

Service was exceptional, very attentive, friendly and they even gave a card to my sister in law and her husband. Definitely very sweet. Ambience is amazing, modern, romantic and chic. Unfortunately no valet parking, so parking is a little bit of an issue. You have to park on the street around the restaurant and area is not super safe. We had some mocktails that were good. Definitely a great tasting and unique. Roasted golden beets were great, tortellini were amazing, yakitori chicken was exceptional. I think our favorite was garbanzo croquettes. Definitely a great place to be. The quality and creativity is amazing, I think it's definitely one of the best restaurants in Tampa Bay.

My wife and I came for our anniversary dinner after seeing the menu online. The food seemed so…read moreinventive and exciting. We were seated at a super small table so it made for an uncomfortable situation with so little real estate available. Also the place looks like it's converted from a garage or something with metal walls and roll up doors that made the sound bounce around. The service was nice. We were well taken care of but they seemed to be spread thin because getting refills and getting our check took a bit longer than expected. One ssue was that the menu was very different from what was online via Google. I should have gone to their website I guess, but several items were not available and the filet I was so excited for had a very different set of items. No Brie au gratin potatoes or braised rainbow chard, citrus gremolata and a fig chutney. Now, let me say that my filet was delicious. I loved the sauce and the asparagus was good but for me, the potatoes were super underwhelming. A nice sauce or something would have made them better. They just tasted bland, were really dry and lacked any flavor. My wife expected the lamb or pork chops, they were both not on the menu. She got fish and chips which she really enjoyed, so it was a win. The Asian wings were our appetizer and were delightful too. Now the only real negative for us was the noise. We got there at 5:30 and it was fine. But as more people came in, the sound bounced around so bad that it became almost unbearable for me. I wanted to go so bad because people laughing and talking made my head hurt. Would I go back? Probably not. I didn't enjoy how loud it was. The food was very good though, so perhaps takeout would be more my speed. We had a nice meal and my leftovers were delicious later that evening.

Our server, Barry, made us delicious martinis, and I had the lychee martini from the happy hour specials menu. We sat at the bar, which has purse hooks, an absolute must! For an appetizer, I ordered the "Twice Baked" bone marrow. It was a very generous portion with seasoned whipped potatoes, bacon, and garlic confit marrow served in the split bone. Rich, flavorful, and very satisfying. Next I had the queen cut prime rib, ordered medium rare. It came out a little more medium than I prefer, but I was having such a nice time catching up with friends that I didn't make an issue of it. The au jus was very flavorful. I also had asparagus and a foil-wrapped sweet potato. The asparagus was excellent, with the young, skinny stalks I prefer. The sweet potato was fine, although I personally don't love food cooked or served in foil. Overall, the service was excellent, the food and drinks were above par, and the ambiance was fantastic. My only real complaint was the temperature inside. It was surprisingly warm, and I was uncomfortable by the end of the meal. Other than that, we had a lovely evening, and I would definitely return and try a different main course next time. A definite must-try.
