I've used uBreakiFix - Cambridge twice. The first time I walked in with my PS4 because the fan had started to get pretty loud. The guy who helped me was really nice, he opened my console up and cleaned it out and the fan was quieter for a while (I'll caveat this with I was playing a 130 GB game for days at a time, so my tending to the fan was proactive). It was a good experience. When, 2 years later, my PS4 fan squeaked, squeaked, then the fan suddenly stopped and the PS4 declared itself too hot and shut down, I called to ask if it was better to bring my console in today or if I should wait until tomorrow and the gentleman assisting me let me know they were pretty swamped but I could drop it off. I appreciate that kind of candor. I got a call only a couple hours later so they actually exceeded my expectations on the timeliness of their diagnostic, and I got two quotes: one for $150 and one for $53 + a $25/month "cancel anytime" Asurion warranty tech insurance thing. I asked if it was actually "cancel anytime" and I trust the employee who told me it was. He also said he looked forward to explaining a few nice perks of the Asurion thingy (that's nice, I don't really care because I'll cancel it ASAP, but that's a cool thing to say). He charged me for it over the phone, which logically makes sense despite my wariness--I paid the $53 repair when I picked up the PS4. The employee also let me know (on a Friday) that the part they needed to order wouldn't ship until Tuesday. Now, here are the downsides of this location that I have experienced: 1) During my visit their printer wasn't working so they said they'd email me the work order, which they haven't (though they've been in touch over the phone). I didn't get a receipt when I picked my console up, either--didn't have to sign anything for a $53 credit card charge. It doesn't inspire confidence when a repair shop's printer is out of order for an entire week, and 2) the guy I spoke with on the phone didn't know how to spell Somerville. Luckily, he tolerated a hearty ribbing for that one. The positives were many, but they were nice and they totally fixed my console. They said they'd played one of the games for 15 minutes to make sure the fan was working, and I was struck with fear that my autosave would be overwritten...it wasn't! That's quality care right there! People are super weird about their phones so maybe the dissatisfied reviews here are warranted in whatever psychic bubbles each reviewer inhabits, but most sound kind of unreasonable to me. From my experiences in retail, some customers are ignorant dicks and others are aggressively ignorant dicks. Especially since the pandemic started, people have just had unreasonable expectations for anyone assisting them in service jobs. Also, hello, heard about the labor shortage? Be patient while the new kids learn the ropes, they say it's a virtue. All in all I've found the guys who have helped me here to be direct, honest, helpful, and frankly quite lovely, so they've gained my trust. read more

Total scam. They quote you a price for repair, take a deposit, and then later charge a new price that is 2-3 times the original.

Don't expect the repairs to be expedient , brought an Xbox to be fixed.. a week later they haven't done anything with it.. they were still "diagnosing" the issue Terrible customer service.. best option that was given was "I can have them put it back together as is and you can pick it up" $150 up front , a week later still no resolution read more

They'll tell you they fix iPods and take your $100 up front, then spend two months not calling you even when you call them and they tell you they'll call back with an update tomorrow, only for them to finally tell you (once you've called them after hearing nothing for weeks, of course) that they can't actually fix iPods after all. With certain businesses you just temper your expectations. Anything cell phone adjacent is usually a good place to start practicing that. But this place is just tidal wave of incompetence and disorganization. My wife has gone through this place a couple times over the last few years. There hasn't been one single transaction so far where the repairs have been done: - on time - correctly - without a series of tall tales that spans the entire staff about why they couldn't do the thing they said they'd do. Like I'm not talking about they said it'd be done by 4 and it's done by 6:30. I'm talking they said it'd be done Monday and it gets done next Thursday and broke something else in the process. I've had to get involved every single time because the mob of children who work there are fine popping off to a woman but are capable of a straight answer when an adult man shows up. It's out of control, and has been for a while, and somebody needs to go get a grown up involved already. read more

Crap repair. Just go to Apple - it'll about $100 more, but it will be a quality replacement screen. I use a case but still drop my phone occasionally. Two-plus years with my Apple 12 Pro and after countless drops one finally cracked the original screen. I spent $200 for a replacement screen with these clowns and the screen has already cracked in two places in just two weeks. . After going around to the Apple store and to other certified Apple fixers, I was feeling so discouraged that I'd have to pay $800 to get my cracked MacBook Air screen fixed. During the height of the covid pandemic, I spotted a rude customer in the Cambridge store with his mask down(the whole time he was in the store)!! The employees at the store(saw 2 in total), did not even ask him to wear the mask, which he had tucked under his chin!!! Called the store number, but got a central operator. Was quoted $200-$200 to repair my galaxy s10+ screen.... price depending on whether it was more work than just a screen repair (she mentioned something about soldering). Rep checked that my part was in stock, and put it on reserve when I made an appointment to get my phone fixed. I go to the store for my appointment. (1) was told repair would be $297. that there was no "range" of the price. (2) Dude in the store couldn't find the part allegedly put on hold for me, and couldn't find any in stock either. So after 2 hours of call, waiting and travel, I still have a cracked screen. Only $50 more to buy a new unlocked phone online, so that's what i'm going to do. Only redeeming thing was the dude in the store was friendly. I felt badly for him because he was pretty harried with customers queuing up being me, and he was all alone. read more

Helpful and honest - thanks to their advice I didn't waste money on repairs that would cost more than the phone was worth.

(1) the repair took much longer than I was told, even after I called ahead to double check before coming in. (2) I came in to get my battery replaced, and they didn't even charge it before giving it back to me. Gave me my phone back with a "brand new battery" at 15% battery. (3) the phone said "phone was shut down due to excessive heat" when they gave it back to me. They explained that's because they have to apply heat to the screen to remove it, so that means they forgot to turn the phone off before starting the repair. (4) this is a Google certified phone store and they don't accept Google Pay. read more

JUST BUY A NEW DEVICE. Working with them is really Ubreak TheySuck! Not worth it, BUY A NEW DEVICE. I started at the Dedham location and came here after experiencing terrible customer service. Dedham was supposed to repair my screen. They broke my home button in the process, 1/3 of the new screen wasn't responsive and to top it off, their "repairs" severely reduced my devices charge speed. Takes about 10 hrs now vs 75 minutes previous. Cambridge said they'd redo the screen, fix the home button, and check what's up with the battery. They only did 1/3 things promised which was fixing the home button. When I requested a refund or replacement after realizing the device is STILL DEFECTIVE they said contact Dedham (or corporate) since they did the initial repair. Dedham gives me a song and dance about how the battery isn't covered and I didn't leave my PW so certain things aren't warrantied, they need to check for water damage before they issue a refund or replace. Like what the hell are you talking about?! I never wanna see these people again why would I go and leave my device once more. It's already been 2 strikes! I use the contact me form 3 times on the corporate website. No one contacts me. I call the number, get assigned a case number and guess what... 3 weeks later, no one contacts me. #NEVERAGAIN #UBreakTheySuck read more

Made an appointment on website and called ahead to confirm. Was told it would take 30-60 min to fix a basic cracked screen. Drove an hour there and on arrival the person working the front desk took 20 minutes to try and check me in and had no clue what he was doing. Another woman stepped in to help and then I was told to come back in 1 hour. After that I kept coming back over the course of 3 hours and phone was still not ready and I couldn't get any straight answers. The people working we're nice but the whole operation was a disaster. In the end I had to argue with them to get my phone back and they only half fixed it. I should have just replaced phone since this place is a nightmare and wasn't worth the aggravation. I saw at least 10 other customers come and go with same experiences and frustrations. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

In-short: incompetent. I gave my Z fold 3 for "same-day" repair on a few things (screen protector, outer front camera, outer touch). I've had the phone for almost 2y now, runs fine despitw these issues. They were unable to repair it after 5 days. It's fine to have to order a part that was out of stock (front camera) but then they ordered the wrong part, and claimed they had to reverse the other repairs, with the phone given back to me in the same condition with only the screen protector replaced. I was told over the phone that I'd still have to pay for the screen protector replacement, fortunately I didn't have to pay when I arrived. If you're a Samsung certified repair-shop, It shouldn't be hard for a failed test to tell you what part number to order. In addition, it's been 2 days since I received the phone and the newly applied screen protector has already begun peeling off. I'll be handling repairs directly through Samsung in the future. Front desk guy was friendly and communicative though, no issues there. Just really poor handling of the repair process. read more

My ipad screen was cracked and I brought it in to replace the screen. I was told it would be done within the next 4 days. About 12 days later, after not having heard anything from the company I came in again to pick up my iPad. I was informed that actually the technician broke something when they were replacing the screen and failed to inform me that the iPad would now be done two weeks after the anticipated completion date. I then got an email 3 weeks later that the technician began working on it and was able to pick it up today. Not only was the communication unacceptable but I am an illustrator and not having a critical device for my work required me to borrow an iPad and pay an addition 140$ to get my work done in the meantime. The workers at the shop were unsympathetic and seemed determined to charge me full price (300$!!!) for the unacceptable service. Frankly this was so unpleasant, and I think it is a scam. I would not recommend the service to anyone. read more

TLDR: Took 2 days to NOT fix my phone, and actually gave it back to me in worse condition than when I brought it to them. Details: Dropped the phone off Sunday for what should have been a less than 2 hr repair according to their website. They "were extra busy" so told me to come back the next day. (Side note, all 3 times I was there I heard them telling people they were "extra busy" and that it would take longer than usual...). Next day around 1 they email me asking for the passcode - which they had already asked me for when I was there... I ask when it will be ready to pickup, to which they respond "Today." and when I ask what time I hear nothing, until 6:30 rolls around. At that point they say that they can't fix it. Next morning I ask if they at least put the old screen back on so I can still use it (old screen still mostly worked, was just cracked). That's when they tell me that when they opened the phone some pins were bent and now the volume buttons don't work (worked fine when I brought it in), and if I want it repaired I need to come get it and mail it to Samsung myself because the motherboard is damaged. They blame it on the way the phone was dropped but, again, the volume buttons worked fine when I brought it in. They refuse to fix the phone or replace it, or to help with getting it fixed by Samsung. Finally, Tue afternoon I'm able to go pick it up. Not only do the volume buttons not work but the back panel isn't replaced correctly and has a gap at the bottom now, and there's some sticky shit all over it. Great. So, two days later and I have had to make multiple trips to their store, have a phone that is broken worse than when I brought it in, and their only solution is that I should now mail it to samsung and wait 5 days to get it fixed.... My experience at this location was particularly frustrating and infuriating, to be honest. I have truly never had such a poor experience with a business. This is a long story, but overall I am extremely disappointed with the experience I had at this location. I had some trouble with the touch screen on my Google Pixel and this place was my only option for repair. When I brought it in, they took a quick look at the outside of the phone and said it would be an in-warranty repair and would take about 4-5 hours. No problem. I called after about 5 hours to check in and they said my phone would be done in 30 minutes. While I'm on my way over there, I get a call that my phone wasn't turning on and they would have to keep it overnight to work on it more, and maybe replace the motherboard. To note, it takes me about 1 hour to get here on the T and 20-30 minutes in an Uber. I had to spend a lot of time and money getting there and back. I get a phone call the next day saying that when they opened up my phone to replace the motherboard, they found two tripped water damage indicators. It was then explained to me that this now means that my phone is no longer under warranty and they couldn't go on with the repair. This meant my phone was now completely non-functional and there was nothing I could do about it. So my phone broke because I tried to get it fixed. There should definitely be a way to check if a phone is actually under warranty before opening it up and exacerbating the problem... *** Also, when I went to go pick up my phone, they handed me someone else's Pixel thinking it was mine. So make sure you double check the IMEI # on your receipt and on your phone before you leave with someone else's phone. Thankfully, Google was kind enough to send me a replacement phone because of this situation. read more

Completely disorganized operation. Just some of the problems I experienced for a simple iPad battery replacement: Was never given or sent a confirmation of work order or receipt for my deposit, although I was told I would be emailed one. Received automated email that I missed my appointment although I was there as scheduled. Was told I would be notified when the part came in, but was not.  I had to call. Then they couldn't find my order because their system kept breaking down. When brought the iPad in at 10:00AM, I was told the job would take about 2 hours. I called at about 1:00PM and was told it would be done at 2:00. I called at 2:00 and was told they were almost finished, and it would definitely be done before 3:00. I arrived a few minutes after 3:00 and the person at the desk told me he would check in the back and come right out. He disappeared for 20 minutes, with no word on what was happening. When he finally emerged, he said it would be another 30 minutes. (Which I now suspect is when they finally started working on the iPad.) It was finally done a few minutes after 4:00. The manager said they were short handed. At no point in the process did anyone call, text, or email me with an update, or indicate that there might be a delay. For my trouble, manager offered me a free screen protector, which I had no use for and declined. Their customer service training seems to be limited to hard-selling their maintenance contract. read more

Good news: The staff is pleasant and seem competent and I successfully came away with a new battery for my phone. Bad news: It looks like: (1) their "appointment" process is a sham, and (2) they're not honest about the in-progress status of their work. I was led to them via the Google Pixel support site. I made a "morning appointment" online. When I went in to have my battery replaced (around 10:30am) they said they were running behind and it'd be 1.5 hours (instead of something like a more reasonable half hour) until the work would could be completed. I left the phone with them and went back to my office (~30 minutes by foot and T). I called them at 5pm to check that the work was complete and they said they were just finishing up and that it'd be ready in ~20 minutes). When I got to the store ~30 minutes later they told me again that they were still finishing up. I waited an unmeasured amount of time (no phone, no time, of course) for them to finally come out with my phone. (It was probably another 15-30 minutes.) read more

I worked with Jose over the phone to troubleshoot my locked Android phone. At the TMobile store they just told me it was locked and probably hacked and there was nothing they could do. In tears, I randomly called UBreakIFix to see if they had any advice for me, as I use the phone for both personal and work. Jose was kind, patient, told me exactly where to look and what to do to see if there was anything that could be done. It turns out it was a system glitch, NOT a hack. He was able to fix the problem in ten minutes, and then gave some suggestions on what to do in the future. He didn't laugh at my problem or make me feel stupid for not knowing what to look for. I will definitely send work his way and bring my laptops to the store. If you're having phone issues and TMobile or Sprint is blowing you off, try here before you panic. I almost shipped a phone back to Samsung for no reason. read more

I am giving 1 star because there is nothing less than that. I brought my phone to fix the cracked screen and when I came back after one hour, the phone had still cracked screen and home button not working with part of the screen was blacked. The guy was just rude and abusive, He racially profiled me and mentioned that I am the worst customer. First the condition of the phone was much worse then I gave it him and secondly he was aggressive and abusive. He agreed to fix the defects he got into the phone. He asked me to pick up the phone after 2 hours and I had drive again from Lexington to Cambridge. I picked up the phone and did a quick check. After I got home, the phone is not working properly. I am now putting a small claim court against these guys. Corrupt, Abusive, Incompetent are some of the words I have. read more

So I basically drove 40 mins for nothing . So after I left I had my hubby call them and say he needed his XR phone fixed. He ask how much and how loNg is a appointment. He also ask when could he get a Appointment. The gentlemen told him its 159 it will take 15-20 mins and he could come in today !!!!! Are you kidding me? You just told me you didn't have the part.
