I never needed a new roof...merely new flashing on my skylights. My daughter's ceiling has been repaired and painted twice before these photos were taken just today. Notice the sloppy tar work on the skylights. He stood me up on December 21st, 2017 to 'scrape off' the visible tar. Never showed and offered $1500 back to use someone else. It's all memorialized in text massages. I've yet to receive any restitution. His work and his word are worthless. Since posting this review this morning, I have gotten threatening text messages from Eden Goldenberg with respect to my livelihood. Beware of this businessman. In response to Eden Goldenberg's message below...the house was built in 2003. I don't consider that to be 'very old.' Update...Filed small claims court suit in April 2018. Eden Goldenberg never showed. I was awarded the total amount by the judge (4K+ court costs). If more dissatisfied customers go up against this dubious character, he will be forced to stand by his work! 11-1-18 The new photos were taken yesterday of a different skylight than the ones previously posted. I'd already tried to get the leak patched, but it had not worked, so we were ready to start fresh with a new roof. I assumed we would get estimates for torch down, which is pretty standard for very low slope roofs, but I wanted the roofers to tell me what type of roof they thought would be best. Most told me torch down. I had been reading about TPO roofs and I was curious to see if many roofers knew how to do them. Before Barcenas, about 6 other roofers came over to quote. Only 3 produced a written quote, and only 1 sounded like they felt confident about doing TPO. Anyhow, I was pretty annoyed by the whole process, as it was sucking up a lot of my time, by the time Barcenas Roofing came over. I had unenthusiastlly picked a different roofer by that time so I was ready to just go with that, but since Jesus at Barcenas had been texting (my preferred method of communication by far) I figured I might as well meet up with one last company - kinda to be polite, truth be told. But before long, I felt something was different about these guys. They made me feel like they were going to do whatever it took to get the job, even if that included aspects that were not roofing, which really meant something to me. They were solution oriented as to the bigger picture, not strictly the 500 sq ft roof. They were fully engaged. Their bid was for TPO and it included removing and rebuilding an awning that I wanted to become part of the roof.The 2 guys who bid the job (owner & supervisor) also personally worked the job even though they had a large crew. They had such a great work ethic. They came on time, early in the morning and many of them stayed late into the evening. They got 95% of the entire roof, the awning tear down and rebuild, and other repairs like bad plywood and facia fixing, done in ONE DAY! I have nothing bad to say. They did a nice job, provided a total solution, for a great price, and they did it super fast. 5-stars.

The next day I inspected the attic thinking that maybe the solar panels installed two years ago may be the cause. To my surprise and relief the cause was a missing plastic cover that was on the roofs powered exhaust vent. It had blown off during Fridays storm. Luckily my tenant had stored the cover but did know what it was. The vent with the cover on looks like a mushroom. On Sunday, I used Angie 's list to located a Staten Island roofer since my Brooklyn guy had not yet called back and I didn't want to risk another rain storm. The first contractor that called was already talking about replacing the exhaust vent at about $1600 for the job I cut him short since I only wanted a cover replaced. I said this is not looking good . Good bye. About 5 minutes later Marke calls me I got lucky, real lucky in finding a guy that did not try to cheat me. I told him all that was needed was to replace the cover. I texted him the photos of the cover. He stated that he could possibly fix the cover once he takes a look at it. It may be hard to find a replacement. At 10am he arrived at the house with his father. (Once he said that was his father, I knew I had the right guy) He inspected the roof and confirmed he could do a decent repair. He showed me pics of the roof vent. No need to change it. He used metal strips and screws to attach the cover. Then he placed ice/water shield and adhered it to the cover. He took pics again after the repair. The price was very reasonable The honesty was superb The time arrangement could not have been better. I paid cash and he later emailed me an invoice as I had requested. He is a good man who works with his father and since he did not steer me wrong, I decided to give him an excellent review!! I hope you call him if you ever do need a reliable and honest roofer. They were not our cheapest bid but not the most expensive either. We chose TPO. Our contract specified the work as welded TPO. They started work, tore off the old roof. I called to warn them that the weather report was for heavy showers. They told me they were prepared. But they were not. It was a huge downpour right into our home. In comes the flood squad, insurance adjusters and everything else. After a six figure claim, Quality finished the roof and helped with all the drywall and damage work. A few months after they leave, the rain comes and so do the leaks. Small at first and then some larger ones. We thought Quality had gone out of business, so we contacted another roofer. They pointed out the seams were not welded. They were taped over with adhesive. And the roof would continue to leak no matter what we did. The work was not up to GAF standards. Since then we have been patching and running for buckets. We have resigned ourselves to the fact that this brand new TPO will need to be ripped off and replaced. Even the work they did to put another layer of bitumen on the upper roof leaks. Every roofer who has seen the work is astonished by how bad it is. I don't know who is writing the positive reviews here and in Google. I suggest you dig a bit deeper. There are also a lot of 1 star reviews that match our experience. So. Beware.

My roof was in very bad shape and I had many roofers tell me or give me a choice of just putting on a new layer. John was the only one that said NO and told me that all the old stuff must be removed. I am glad that I listened to John. This house was built in the 1930s and the old roofing material was about 6-8 inches thick and so dried out that it was hard as rock. It must have weighed several tons, if not more. My roof is now over 4 years old and it still looks like the day it was put on. The material selection and workmanship is excellent after more than 4 years.
