It's an older laptop, but it's a powerhouse, and I really didn't want to see it go. To be honest, I originally thought it was just a battery issue. After their inspection, I found out the motherboard and pretty much everything else was fried. I'm not going to lie, I was a little nervous knowing the follow-up conversation about next steps was coming. But Alex, one of the people who runs the shop, was not only upfront and honest, but took the time to explain everything to me and walk me through the best options. It never felt like a sales pitch. He genuinely seemed like he had my best interests in mind, and based on my past experiences, that's pretty rare to find. They ended up replacing my motherboard and even let me keep the old one. On top of that, they went out of their way to clean and repair two buttons on my keyboard that I didn't even ask them to fix. I thought that was incredibly kind and really says a lot about the level of care they put into their work. Value was definitely there, fair, and worth it. What stood out was that he wasn't trying to upsell me -- he gave honest feedback on each option and helped me decide based on whether I wanted a short-term or long-term solution. His pricing was very reasonable compared with other repair shops, especially considering he came directly to me. Before starting, Tony inspected the damage and explained that its location near the motherboard could potentially mean additional issues. Once he opened the phone, he confirmed the board was undamaged and proceeded with the original OEM screen replacement. About 20 minutes later, my screen was replaced. He also came prepared with a screen protector, which I appreciated and had him install. Before leaving, we went through the phone together, tested screen responsiveness, checked the settings, and confirmed there were no alerts or issues. Then came the unexpected bonus. After a previous battery replacement at uBreakiFix, my earpiece volume had become extremely low. I NEVER mentioned this to Tony. He didn't even charge me. Then on Saturday, Feb. 11, everytime I put my password in to log on, I got the whirligig. After waiting 5 attempts at about 15 minutes each with no progress, I realized this was a bigger problem than restart could fix. I brought my laptop into iSolution and the guy watched the whirligig and said, "This is an OS problem." Luckily I had my WD back up drive and it was current, so I told him if he had to wipe the laptop, so be it. Well, after a few hours he called and said the OS was corrupted and that he'd been able to fix it without wiping my laptop. No need to reinstall everything.
