I am outraged. When…read moreI picked up my dog Tallulah yesterday after Camille groomed her, I thought there was some kind of mistake, or maybe someone at Canine Social Company was pulling my leg. I had dropped off an itchy and smelling-like-dead-fish, shaggy ragamuffin of a dog at whom park snobs would point and snicker, "what kinda --doodle's THAT?" That's why I didn't recognize Tallulah when she emerged from Camille's salon so brushed up and out, her Afro puff bouncing with her every prance, that on the way home a dog-walker ran up to me and gushed, "what a gorgeous Portuguese Water Dog! She's obviously a show dog." This morning, when I chaperoned Tallulah on her "promenade through the park", I felt like I should have dressed up, with a top hat--and maybe a monocle--but definitely a walking stick with a huge gem on its handle.' Who needs that? It's a hassle and I hold Camille completely responsible for sculpting Tallulah into this attention-demanding diva. Her new stans would be mortified to discover Tallulah's nothing but a dolled-up bernedoodle with heady airs and a shiny coat. All that aside, Camille is a talented groomer who always makes Tallulah look and smell wonderful. I would recommend her to anyone, although not to everyone because it's already hard enough to get an appointment with her.

When you walk by, you can see the groomer in action... brushing and trimming their client's doggie friends. Half of the stores care pet supplies: shampoo, food, snacks and seems like winter boots and sweaters are hot items for this cold and snowy season. The whole walls of over 50 different style and sizes to choice from... and those cute boots... dogs are into shoes too I guess!! FYI: those boots are not just cute looking, they protects the dog paws from the harsh elements of winter: salt and icy pavements!

I have been taking my 12 lb Bischon poodle here for the past year. From the very beginning I was…read morevery clear to them about the fact that my dog is hard to groom as she had suffered an attack from a larger dog and since then does not enjoy grooming. She does get anti anxiety medication before grooming as per my vets recommendation and thus calms her down. I had a terrible experience with the first person who groomed her at this location. My dog was difficult to groom and she gave up. They called me and handed my dog to me soaking wet! In the middle of winter when the temperature was -15. I then tried another groomer at this same location. For the past few grooms, she advised my dog was fine during grooming, "her usual self". I always ask after every groom about how my dog was. My last appt was a few weeks ago. I again asked how things went, and was told "fine". Today I call to make an appointment and I'm told there's a note on my file that they " do not feel comfortable grooming my dog for safety reasons". Really? This is how you treat clients?? I specifically asked after last appointment how things went and was told "fine". I get it if you no longer want to groom my dog because she's harder to groom, I guess you only want EASY jobs considering the $130 I pay each visit. Plus tip. But why lie to my face and say things were fine if they were not?!?! To be told unexpectedly that you no longer wish to groom my dog is heart breaking. Additionally, had you been honest and told me this after last appointment, I could have spent the last few weeks finding another groomer. Now I'm left scrambling to find someone to groom my dog last minute. Extremely poor communication and service! The groomer involved is Amanda. I would absolutely not recommend this place. They charge very high fees and apparently only want easy jobs. This is not okay. Perhaps be honest with clients up front instead of sneakily dropping them as clients by leaving notes.

The prices weren't bad at all. Plus it's a Canadian company unlike Pets Mart and Pet Valu. But this is the first time I had heard of Bark & Fitz. Looks like they are only located out west. I loved the cookies display. Looking at it makes me forget they are only for dogs and not humans. Dogs are so lucky lol There was also grooming on site. I could stand all day and watch the cute dog being groomed. Super cute! It looks like on the weekends is when it gets busy for grooming so it's definitely wise to book an appointment. My dogs loved the treats Alberta Bison (100% Bison ingredients) and Select beef strips (100% beef). In fact, one dog who is usually so gentle snatched the treat from my hand. Must be good ! There was a photoshoot display at the back for those who are bringing their furry friends in for X'mas. Apparently there will be a photographer snapping pet portraits in mid December ! The owners were super nice. They took the time to explain the products to me and I ended up getting a few things. Also lots of awesome items on discount at the back! Lots of beds (but I bought two of them ha!), jackets for winter, boots, etc. There are also items for other furry friends. I'm definitely coming back here again.

My first visit to this groomer with my dog seemed fine--she came home happy from a basic de-shedding appointment. But within 24 hours, everything changed. What should have been a routine grooming led to a nightmare: my dog developed post-grooming furunculosis, a severe bacterial infection that entered through her hair follicles and began eating away the skin on her back. Despite aggressive treatment and over $18,000 in vet bills, I had to say goodbye to my best friend just two days ago. This wasn't just bad luck--it was preventable. I reached out to the groomer multiple times to ask what products were used so my vet could understand what happened. I was ignored. The lack of accountability and transparency has been infuriating and heartbreaking. The trauma, pain, and grief my dog, myself, and my family have endured over the past year are beyond words. I feel robbed of the years we still should have had together. She was 65 lbs healthy and only 38 lbs by the end. The stress and pain she went through here sparked the end of it all. She came back confused, stressed... not wanting to eat, walk, play, or do anything. Please don't risk your pet's life. What happened to us started with one simple appointment. I also asked for a face trim and it looks like a child cut it, his whole face is now uneven. The staff here do not care about your pets or their clients. Very unprofessional and inexperienced staff. It's not safe to bring your pets here. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
