I dusted off my Uber app recently, not having used it since 2013 when we were on vacay in Seattle. So much has changed since then! WTH is an UberX? Back then it was only black cars & large SUV's that cost an arm and a leg. Now I know, and I'm in even more support of the company. I just hope they treat their drivers with respect and dignity. Our short dashes around the DC area cost between $6 and $12, still higher than the Metro but so much more convenient and a lot quicker. My only dismay was the inaccuracy of the driver's GPS. They'd either be down the block, or on the other side of the traffic-clogged street. Accurately setting my location pin didn't seem to help much. That 5th star was oh so close! All of the drivers were professional and personable, the cars were clean, and navigation was perfect. Tip them additionally if you feel like it, but if you don't there was no backlash or attitude. Getting a rental car at the last minute at $60 per day (before insurance and taxes) was not my idea of good value. Researching taxi, bus, metro and shuttle options in the area for Thanksgiving I concluded that taking UBER (with their free first ride credit upon sign up) would be an awesome alternative. It was UBER easy to sign up. I logged on to UBER.com and created an account with my credit card information using a promo code. Got the free ride credit instantly and downloaded their app (necessary to summon a car). I read more and more about this service and found news reports about "surge" pricing which will charge a multiplier during peak times. My fear was getting charged $300 for a 10 mile drive like someone did in that article. Sooo, the time came to use UBER. I used the app to call an UBERX car and carefully observed whether or not SURGE pricing was in effect. Since that warning didn't show up, I did a fare estimate and called a car. The designated driver called me within 2 minutes and confirmed my location. The transaction went smooth except for when we arrived at the location. There was confusion on my side whether or not tip was included. I was told for UBERX, the tip was not included and I could tip with cash if I so desired*. I gave the guy a few bucks and called it good. With the free ride credit, the trip was truly free and I got an email receipt with how much that was charged on my CC ($0.00). SUCCESS. I would use them again as it was easy and actually cheaper than taxi service**. _________________ *UBERX is their cheapest service. Supposedly, higher services like Black Car and UBERSUV have tips that are automatically added per your account settings. I never went back to see if this was true about tipping for UBERX. I was later told by peers tipping is not mandatory and built into their pricing. If the trip was cheap, I do not mind doing so for great service. **Taxi companies HATE uber and I can see why, they lose business to competitors that offer a much lower price. read more

Here are the things with cabs: 1) My well-dressed, smiley, husband has the worst luck with cabs. He is constantly getting refused or passed by for service most likely because of the color of his skin and his gender. If we go out together at night, it has become MY job to hail cabs because drivers would simply ignore him. If he is out late with his friends, he usually is SOL. Goodbye dignity and chivalry. 2) Taxi drivers hate going out out of the city. In the freezing cold they will make me step out of their car because they simply can't be bothered with driving 10 minutes up the bridge to Virginia. 3) I have had taxi drivers YELL AT ME and start driving erratically when I tell them I would like to pay with a credit card. Don't hate the player, hate the game. It is NOT my fault that you get taxed on these types of things. Besides, who ever has cash on them these days? 4) They will always take you the long way and there is nothing you can do about it. Ever since Uber came into my life two years ago, the way I have looked at public transportation services has completely changed. Uber has increased my quality of life tremendously by providing me with a safe, convenient, and affordable way to get around the city. Almost all of the Uber driversI have come in contact with have not only been competent but also extremely pleasant to interact with. Sure I've had some bad experiences, but the customer service is so on point that they are ALWAYS able to make it up to me at the end. Their community manager team is simply the best. It is no longer the person closest to the client, it is the person who has been there the longest. I think that when the driver is competent, the service is fine. But most of the time, the UberX drivers don't seem to know their way around as well as a seasoned taxi driver. Even when they have GPS, they still miss turns or go down the wrong streets. That can still be tolerable, even if it adds a couple of minutes to the trip. Recently, however, I had a horrible experience that has completely turned me off from Uber: a 10 minute trip turned into 50 minutes as my driver got terribly lost. It was a simple trip from NoMa to the Washington Monument around 1pm on a weekday. Traffic was light, and the route should only have taken 10 minutes. The driver somehow ended up going over the Potomac River to Virginia. We ended up in McLean before he found a way to turn around and head back to DC. Once he entered DC, he promptly got lost in Foggy Bottom. When he got close enough to the National Mall, I told him to just let me out. Fortunately, the driver cancelled the ride once he realized he was going over the bridge to Virginia, meaning I didn't get hit with the full cost of the bill for the entire ride. I contacted Uber support to get my money back. They only gave me Uber credit, and did not refund my credit card for the amount it was billed. In fact, they shortchanged me with the credit. Uber support justified this by saying "drivers still have to be compensated for gas/mileage etc". Really? Your driver screws up, and I get shortchanged? So I'm done with Uber. read more

Shortly after the stroke of midnight, Uber was the sexiest service I'd ever seen. Only 5 minutes after hailing a ride via the app, a very pleasant young lady showed up to drive me home from Bethesda, Md. Still infatuated, I used it the following morning. Very useful, and no price surges. But if you lose valuables in the car, that's not what sucks. It is that you can't get LIVE customer service. You can't even contact your earlier driver. Yes, you can email them, but I got no response. What is WRONG with people these days? Why is a business, big or small, so insistent on trashing it's reputation by leaning on robots (automation). I love computers but you cannot escape having a live person handle a serious matter! Are they all waiting for their high school customers who never knew live service to never complain when they get the he shaft? I pay. Therefore I rate. Uber just went from a 5-star to a 2. Put a phone number on it. Grow up, Uber! Do you want to force the hand of live customer service? Go to Uber's D.C. office! Where are they? 1875 Connecticut Ave., NW, entrance on T Street, across from the Washington Hilton side entrance (where "Reagan got shot.") Go inside, go left to the end of the hall, glass doors on the right. I got lucky, so to speak: a friendly Uber employee helped me locate my lost item, only to no avail. They were not on the premises. My driver had not turned them in, or just never found them. She explained that Uber has been around for many years, and never had a phone number and don't plan to get one. Absolutely worthless. Yesterday I needed to get into work at around 10:00, going into Old Town from the Springfield area. Usually at this time I can get an Uber ride, but there was nothing available. I tried several times, but it would not connect me to a driver. The ride with Alexandria Yellow Cab was $10.82; with Uber is is usually close to $13.00. About six months or a year ago, Uber was maybe 20% cheaper than taking a cab in Alexandria, but it is usually now more expensive--not including the 20% tip you are expected to leave. If you forget to leave a tip, the drivers will give you bad feedback. I recently went from 4.87 to 4.84. Why? I am always polite and on time. Sometimes the drivers just don't like you no matter how nice you are. Most of the time I leave a 20% tip and I always rate the drivers a 5 even when they are a 3 or a 4 because I am afraid of them leaving negative feedback in revenge. About 5 or 10% of the time I forget to leave a tip, but my rating should not be penalized for it. Uber is also useless for going to or from a high-demand event like a concert or a sports game. The surge pricing is three or four times higher than it normally is for that ride. Coming back to Alexandria from the Library of Congress on a recent Saturday afternoon, Uber wanted 3.5X pricing for what would normally be a $30 trip. I took a cab home for about $30. You are better off walking around and hailing a cab a few blocks away from the event. Cabs have regulated fares so you don't have to worry about surge pricing. Also, coming home from a recent concert at Echostage (the app quoted 2.7X pricing for normally a $28.00 trip), I was forced to take a cab home because multiple Uber drivers cancelled and left me stranded. Another problem with Uber is when you schedule a ride. I recently scheduled a ride to take me to a concert. The driver showed up 20 minutes early. I scheduled for 7:00 when I got off work that day. The driver showed up at 6:40, and texted asking why I was not standing outside. I told him I did not get off work until 7:00. He told me he would send another driver at 7:00. A second driver showed up at 6:50, so I said the heck with it and left work 10 minutes early. Fortunately I did not get in trouble. Schedule your rides 20 or 30 minutes after work or whatever you are doing is over. They show up too early and you are forced to cancel the ride or leave what you or doing early. It would be even better not to schedule the ride ahead of time and just get an Uber when you need it. Take the Metro, a cab, or the bus. Uber is a waste of time. I am not able to get into D.C. this summer because of the Metro shutdown, and Uber is not a viable option. read more

And then there's the driver with complementary bottled water, charging cables, and who even dabbed on some cologne for his chauffeur job. What a way to get to know people, eh? Yes, uber is definitely the way to go in DC. I'll shell out $3 to save the pain of walking a few blocks. And you'll always have ample drivers ready to pull up. You get what you get though. Some of these drivers could really tidy up the vehicle a bit. And, you know, I really appreciate those drivers who talk you through as other riders are about to pile in or the stop coming up or whatever. As a single female traveler I don't need you to roll out a red carpet, I just appreciate the head's up is all. DC uber is pretty much like elsewhere. I got hooked using UBER when a friend recommended it, and I got a free ride the first time using it! After the first few times using UBER, I felt like my honeymoon phase had ended in a disaster. I recently had one of the worst rides because of a new driver who didn't know how to use the UBER app. Although the driver had a nice, clean car and turned on some catchy pop tunes, he got confused how to navigate around DC and drove me to the wrong destination (supposed to be 1.5 miles but ended up close to 4 miles). Furthermore, he didn't know how to add the destination address on his phone issued by UBER, and he kept on using his own personal phone to get to places. I ended up late to dinner, and felt a little flustered by the cost of the ride. I gave feedback on the driver, and an UBER representative responded back to ensure that the driver will get up to speed with the protocol. I then later made a complaint to see if I could get some UBER credit back, and surprisingly, UBER did offer credit to my account! This is what I call good customer service: correcting bad experiences by trying to give incentives for existing customers to remain loyal to the service! read more

We had heard about Uber, but hadn't really given it much thought. However, the gf and I decided to give it a try since we live within its service area, it didn't cost anything to sign up, and you're charged only when you use it. So, it's our "just in case we miss the last Metro" ride home. It was a Saturday night a little after 11pm. The Metro was still operating, but we didn't want to go through the hassle and wait to get home from Capitol Hill. Similarly, catching a cab can be a hit or miss proposition as some cabbies can't/don't want to drive to Alexandria. We checked out the Uber app on my iPhone, saw that there was a car nine minutes away, and we set up our pickup point. Almost immediately, we received a call from our driver letting us know he was on his way and confirming the pickup location. In eight minutes, he arrived at the appointed spot in a late-model, black Lincoln sedan. The interior of the vehicle was clean, odorless, and had two complimentary bottles of water in the cup holders in the back seat. Our driver, Safdar, was very personable, professional, polite, and efficient in getting us home in a timely manner. He can drive us home anytime. The overall cost from Capitol Hill to where we live was $39, which was about 20-25 percent more than a cab ride...assuming you can get a cab. Best of all, it's a cashless, no tip service. The tip is built into the cost and its automatically billed to your credit card. Your receipt is emailed to you. Very easy. Uber still has some room to grow and improve. I imagine that on weekends or during bad weather, waits for Uber cars may be excessively long. Nine minutes wasn't bad in my estimation, but 5 minutes or less in DC would be better. I have to admit to some skepticism about how a car service would work, but I'm sold on Uber. A very strong 4 star experience likely trending towards 5 stars in the future. read more

If you live in Arlington or DC this is the only way to go. Uber X, on the uber app, is actually cheaper than DC taxis. I have tested this out. I have gone one way with the Uber X and then returned with a taxi, and the price difference is about 25% cheaper with the Uber X. Uber X cars are usually a Totyota Camery or a Prius. You request over your phone, and in the case of me living in Rosslyn, the Uber is at my front door in less than 5 minutes, no joke. If you are feeling a little more luxurious you can order a black car, usually a lincoln town car, to come pick you up. These are usually 1.5x the price of a DC taxi. There is also an option for an SUV, which the site says will fit 6 people, but they bring Suburbans which can fit 9, I have done it plenty of times. All Uber drives are super nice, because they have to be. Since it is mandatory to review your previous driver, before you order a new uber, all the drivers are always on their best behavior. If they are not up to par with their stars Uber kicks them out of the program, and then back to the drawing board for them. Do yourself a favor and use Uber X for all your travels, seriously, you will love it. read more

Yes, there is a "surge" fare that is a bit punitive. We were able to avoid surge fares for the most part. Our drivers were friendly and quite responsive to our sometimes goofy questions about the area. One driver volunteered that Washington DC has the most Uber drivers of any city in the USA. Had a short time in, and around Washington, DC, and Uber made it easy! I was lugging around two huge bags and a pair of backpacks. I came with plenty of luggage. Uber made it easy for me to get picked up, along with all these bags, and get carted around the city. I made sure to get the private car, instead of the cheapest one, since I was carrying so much stuff. In larger cities, Uber gives three options of pricing, based upon the type of car, or if the ride will include other riders getting picked up and dropped off along the way. On one of the rides, I opted for the cheapest possible ride, where we had four other random people in the car with us as we rode to our destinations. Nobody said a word the whole ride. It was fun going out of our way to drop off people, and get to see more of the city. However, I wouldn't have opted for this if we were short of time. The drivers were none too friendly, and seemed bored out of their minds. I guess I would be too. I was happy to see that Uber now allows for tips to be given to the drivers, a feature that was not previously offered. I worry about some of Uber's shady business practices, like Project Grey Ball, and how the app is alleged to continue to track you once you've exited the vehicle. read more

Installed app on a Friday and was hacked by Sunday morning. Started receiving notices about my 'ride' in San Francisco' Sunday at 745am. Was able to cancel one ride using push notice but hacker had already locked me out of the account so they charged ~$120 in 'uber rides' before my bank could freeze the card. Uber has no help number and its difficult to contact them other than email. Took them an hour to reply to my hacking email (had to select 'I think Ive been hacked' option - I KNEW Id been hacked. This after it was discovered Uber paid ransom in 2016 to hackers to 'keep it quiet' - there are now class action suits for that. This service is not secure and not safe to share your bank info with. read more

Metro track work was putting a major damper on my travel plans last night, so I decided to give Uber a whirl. I used the app to hail an UberX car and within a few seconds, the name and a photo of the driver, the type of car he was driving, and his license plate were displayed on my screen. The app allowed me to track the driver's progress as he approached my location. The driver's estimated arrival time was seven minutes and he arrived on time. The car was clean, the driver was friendly, and he got me to my destination safely and in a timely fashion. Uber gets bonus points for offering service in Maryland unlike some of the other car services in the area that operate only in DC. I plan to keep using Uber. read more

Uber use to be the luxury way to get home safe - until they stopped doing background checks and stopped caring about customer safety. I ordered an uberx heading home early in the morning. When the car arrived, a man was in the vehicle. The driver assured me they had just missed the riders destination and he would only be in the car for a short distance, so I agreed to get in thinking "not ideal, but I uber pool regularly." Almost to my destination I became uncomfortable that the man was not heading to his destination but to mine. When I told the driver I was uncomfortable with the man being dropped off at my house, the driver stopped in the middle of a major intersection and began to yell at me and the mystery rider and I became frightened. After convincing the driver to pull into a safe location I fled from the car, unsure of how the situation would end and unconvinced it would be positive. As I tried to create distance between myself and the vehicle, the driver began to follow me, attempting to lure me back into the vehicle. The driver drove up and down the street yelling my name and telling me to get in the car until I turned off onto a side road and ran over a mile home. When I contacted Uber about the situation all I got was their community standards sent via their chatbot, a $6 refund for the trip, and a confirmation that their system would never match me with that driver again. No assurance that this behavior is unacceptable for the driver or the other rider, and that feeling that I am in grave danger in an Uber would never happen again. I've tried to contact them multiple times but I am told via chatbot reaching a human is literally not an option. My caution to you is to know what you're paying for - because it's not customer service and it's not a safe ride home. If you want either one of those things, don't ride with Uber. I was planning a business trip in December '13 and couldn't figure out what mode of transportation I was going to use to get from the airport to my house. That's when a coworker hipped me to Uber!!! The premise of Uber is a luxury "taxi service" that only requires the push of a button from your smart phone for a car to take you where you desire, while paying for your bill with a credit card through your phone. The company uses only black vehicles and they range from a Prius, Lincoln Town Cars or Cadillac Escalades. First, you must have a smart phone to use their services, then you have to register on-line, enter your credit card number and you can even get a quote by entering your pick-up and destination addresses. You only request a car when you're absolutely ready to leave your location, so it's not necessary to request a car an hour before you plan to depart. With all the preliminaries taken care of, when I landed at DCA, I went to pick up my bags from baggage claim and I put in my destination and requested a car. Not even a minute later I got a call from my driver letting me know where he was going to meet me and that he would be there in 5 minutes. I then received a text with a picture of my driver and his credentials. Very impressive service! I went outside and the driver was literally waiting for me. The entire process took less than 5 minutes! The car was very clean, he drove very well and he was extremely friendly. My driver was having issues with his GPS so I did have to give him directions to my house, but that was no biggie. I questioned the driver about his credentials and he told me that all of the Uber drivers have background checks and have to pass several test before being able to drive the cars. Since I was riding with him by myself, I thought I should know this information, just in case he was a murderer or something. He politely reminded me that I have documented evidence about who picked me up, so I thought it was a really safe traveling option. I arrived safe and sound and thoroughly impressed with my services. The prices are pretty reasonable and after the ride I received an email with my receipt, which is perfect for business travel documentation. I love that you don't have to exchange money in the car with the driver because I don't have to worry about paying with only cash and I'm sure the driver feels much safer too, since he doesn't have money with him. No tricks here because the flat fee that I got quoted earlier was the price that I actually paid. The DC area is one of a few cities that have Uber services and I think it's a wonderful upgrade from a smelly old taxi. It's especially wonderful if you want to arrive at one of DC's hot spots in style and you plan to do a little drinking. It's like having my very own personal driver!! read more

I mistakenly implied in my first review of Uber that you can't get them from the airport and that is what I thought when I wrote it. Since then I heard people talking about using them from the airport. I am so glad I did. I ended up needing transportation from Reagan super mega uber early recently. The metro was not open. There were no cabs either. But at 4 o'clockish in the morning I called an uber X and he arrived in well under ten minutes. They can pick you up from DCA in the same far lane private cars and limos would. Just know what door you are coming out of from baggage claim and try to drop the pin near there. (Also I meant Uber X was cheaper than cabs for me not Uber XL in my first review. I am not sure I have ever used XL... Although, I am getting addicted to using uber black) Since I have written my first review I have continued to use Uber a lot. I am getting addicted to pampering myself and friends with the Uber Black car. It really is fabulous riding in a blacked out limo all over town that is at your beck and call (that you don't have to pay through the nose for). The drivers I have gotten have continued to be really nice and polite. I really love the style and convenience of it all. Uber is there when I am ready (whenever that might be.) I started using Uber six months ago. First it was excellent. Then my prices started doubling and sometimes even tripling. To go 3 miles I've paid $15! On top of that I have been dropped off two blocks away from my location. Pick up is the worst because they will say they're picking up at a specific location by name but they end up a block or two away. They are constantly closing my ticket while I'm trying to find them, charging me all the way. I'm done with Uber. UPDATE: A picture of me showed up on the Uber drivers screen. UNSAFE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!! Called an Uber late at night because I was very intoxicated. I was 2-3 miles from home and my driver took me on a 1 HOUR "joy ride". Normally an $8 ride cost me $48! It's not about the money it's about the safety. You rely on Uber when you cannot drive yourself and they took advantage. Sadly, I've learned that this isn't the first time this has happened. Uber GPS directed my driver to the wrong pickup location and driver wanted to argue that he was in front of our home when we were standing outside and he was nowhere to be seen. It was Uber's error and we were charged a wait fee. It to me two hours to get a customer service agent to review the problem, and then they told me it would have to be elevated. All this over less than two dollars. Requested a refund due to principle. Also, the Uber cost turned out to be more than a taxi. I'll ditch them and stick to taxi's from now on. read more

I've used uber several times very successful but today it was a nightmare. I requested a ride from my home to a doctor's location about 3 miles away. The driver kept telling me he was at my home but he wasn't. So I texted him but he wouldn't answer. Then he cancelled the ride so I had to reschedule. The 2nd driver told me the google had my address all messed up. On the way back home that driver passed by my street and I had to tell her the directions. I was overcharged because of it. I tried to contact uber direct but it only addresses specific issues/drivers. My issue is with my location. I don't know if I'm going to use uber anymore. read more

I was not able to find a phone number or appropriate e-mail to file a complaint. When I tried to "contact" Uber all it did was sign me up for a new account-name telephone etc. I requested an Uber. The driver arrived-looked at me and told me that she was not going to drive me. She then canceled the trip which caused me to have to wait for another Uber and resulted me being late for my medical appointment. I am frustrated that there is not a method to file a complaint-since the earlier driver did not reflect on my trip guide and I did not want my complaint to be filed on the driver who did show up. I was dressed professionally and did not need assistance walking. My medical appt was located in what people would consider "nice or safe." I can only assume that the driver was basing her decision on my race since there were no other indicators as to why she should refuse my ride. Although I will continue to use Uber because of lack of other options, I am dissatisfied with their customer service or problem resolution. read more

Horrible experience and zero support when reaching out to customer service, shut down by customer support leaving no help. I ordered Uber eats and one hour later the food still had not been picked up, no driver available, and restaurant was closing. I was trying to use the app to report it and ask for a cancellation due to timing and closing or make sure a driver was assigned. Instead the chat bot canceled when I was trying to speak with an agent and charged me for food I never received. When I called in I was put on hold and a customer service agent reached out through the app. They refused to refund me and said my order was on time (the ETA changed three times to make it look on time). The agent is telling me I'm not getting refunded because I didn't call in, but when you call in the Uber recording says to use the app to handle issues. I had actually done both and was on hold. Either way I asked several times to speak with management due to being out of money/time/canceled my Uber one and having this issue for more than one time.. the customer service agent refused to escalate my problem in anyway and said it was escalated nothing could be done- when I asked for their name or employee ID they didn't respond. I asked several times for management escalation and/or name. Instead the agent disconnects our chat. Well being that I was still on the phone with Uber but on hold I stayed on and that agent said she could escalate the issue. This agent was very rude and unprofessional, on top of me already being frustrated over being out of food/money/time. I use Uber for personal and I use it through our business account spending thousands and it's crazy to be dismissed over a service not received! Cancelled Uber one, still waiting on a call back from management, no refund, and since I work with managing business partnerships accounts I will be making changes at work. read more

Uber is one of the best things that has happened to transportation in the last 20 years. The rides cost less then regular taxis, and the people in general are more friendly. Sometimes the driver had a tough time finding me because of how convoluted DC is, but I didn't have to pay for it and at worst it added 10 minutes to the wait time. The convenience is incredible. The app and cost makes it one of the easiest ways to get around big cities if you don't want to bother with the metro. read more

My husband ordered an Uber for 04.00 AM to take an early flight. NO ONE came and the app simply said that no drivers are available at that time ( even when he requested the service the night prior). If I could give an Uber no stars, I would. This is something completely unacceptable! read more

I had an awful experience with Uber on Saturday night/Sunday morning. I requested an Uber at 12:25am on November 19, 2017 at which time it was estimated that it would take the driver 10 minutes to reach me. At 12:45am, I called the driver because on the app it said for over 10 minutes the app said was 3-5 minutes away. On the app it looked like he kept getting further and further away so we just wanted an update. The driver had no idea where he was nor how long how it would take for him to get to us. Ten minutes later and it was 12:55am, 30 minutes after we requested the Uber. It started raining and we could not wait any longer in the freezing cold. Then Uber had the nerve to charge me a $5 cancellation charge. We ended up jumping in a cab and paying twice as much as Uber would've charged us but at least we were warm, safe and dry. read more

Uber Eats is struggling to provide any semblance of service. Their app is horrible. More and more there are no drivers available, and I am notified of this usually an hour after I order. I just now contacted Toms Diner in Manassas, VA to inquire about the status of my order, and they told me they never received it. Uber is a big enough company to be able to adjust during these times to support restaurants and customers way better than they do now. Door Dash and Grubhub do not have these issues. read more

Uber is a massive pain. During the day prices are sky high and late at night it's nearly impossible to get a ride in a timely fashion. I work the graveyard shift and buses aren't running late because of COVID. Lately I've tried hailing uber lifts to work but I've been late 3 times in the last two weeks due to drivers canceling and wait times that exceed 40 minutes. Actual stars would be -10 stars! I'm waiting at the exact corner that I sent to Uber. Driver calls and says something in unclear English, hangs up on me and cancels the trip without warning to me. Now, I'm being charged a $5.00 cancellation fee and I didn't cancel - I was there and driver was not. He cancels trip and I have a pay $5.00 - BULL - I'm NEVER using UBER ever again. If I could give Uber a negative rating I would. The drivers are very nice but the scam the company is operating by is unacceptable. On two occasions now I have been charged an additional fee after the ride. On the first occasion a driver picked me up to go to the airport and we had to stop for gas. Uber, after I rated and tipped the driver l, charged me an surcharge for time and traffic. Had the driver not stopped for gas we would not have sat in traffic because we would have beaten rush hour and taken less time. I filed a complaint and never got a response and ate 30 extra bucks to the airport. The second incident with Uber was when I left my keys in the Uber I had just taken. The driver informed me he would come back when he was nearby. I gave him 10 dollars cash as a thank you which was the same price as my fare earlier that morning. Uber then charged me an additional 15 dollars without my permission which I am sure will not go to the driver. Needless to say, I have deleted the app and would not trust the company as they neither care about their drivers nor their customers. Their is no easy way to make a complaint even though they tell you to contact Arnold. Arnold conveniently has no email, phone number or other means of being reached and probably does not exist. I prefer Uber to Lyft but they need to update their app. You used to be able to file a complaint on the app but now it just gives you generic topics and no way to explain what the issue was. I got charged for waiting time even though I was the one who had to wait on the driver because he went to the wring building..... read more
