Uber cancelled my ride without notification. I missed a doctor's appointment it had taken me a month to arrange. Never again.

I pre-ordered an Uber cab for a trip I was taking. No one showed up and I received no notice of cancellation. It was impossible to reach anyone for help. It was a huge inconvenience as no one wanted to come at 4:30 in the morning except a nice gentleman from Lyft. To this day, I have not found a way to reach an Uber agent to discuss this! Upon closer inspection: the guy is on the phone speaking while driving one handed (law violation), he has Maryland plates, way down in Virginia and he is driving a trash mobile with loose spare tires! Am only complaining about one ride but the driver should be fired. He left us at the wrong terminal at Ft. Lauderdale airport. We had to walk two terminals down to the 3rd one -- a litle over a half mile I think, in the heat and dragging our luggage. I told him repeatedly that the airline was in the 3rd terminal, but he pulled over, opened the trunk, handed us our luggage and drove away. My friend is 88 years old. I'm 78. I had left him a big tip and couldn't change that but I did want to report him as the walk was dangerous for the two of us. Uber has much in the way of help but nothing that covers direct comments or questions. Call tand you're redirected to the internet site, but go to the site and no way to deal with your issue. It's impossible to contact support. The phone number they had previously is now out of service. The link to the contact form is disabled. I created a Twitter account just to direct message them and my message was blocked. The help function in the app has a narrow list of topics you can choose from and if your issue doesn't fit squarely into one of those topics, you can't use the app support, which is the only option they seem to provide. It seems like the only way to get support is to get on social media and stay there until they finally respond to you. read more

To be honest, I've never had the highest opinion of Uber, but I do use it frequently. Over the last year, at least 25% of the time, a driver will accept me, get close, then suddenly cancel/disappear, and I have to wait for another driver to accept. If I have a time sensitive appointment, I will definitely not use Uber going forward. read more

Had to call an Uber WAV (wheelchair accessible vehicle) because we had a mobility scooter with us. The drover was there within five minutes and was able to comfortably accommodate three of us and a full size scooter. In last two weeks (prior to today, 4/29/2923), we've tried to take Uber twice, both times not during any particular busy period. We have an excellent rating, and were not being picked up from any odd location (airport and house). But Uber after Uber after Uber strung us on for several minutes and then cancelled. Not sure what's going on with them these days, but the service is basically unusable. When we were at airport, we finally had to pop over to the taxis, which we hadn't taken in ~ a decade. Was totally different than last time (likely due to competition from Uber -- credit where credit's due): clean, nice, didn't yell at me for using a credit card (like they used to), was a hybrid (which I somehow, in the Year of Our Lord 2023 rarely see in Ubers). The original fare was $19+ and considering the cancellation I was offered the same trip for $58. This bait and switch happened to me in Colorado Springs (COS) before. On a ride we lost an item (our error). However, according to their "Support" system, we have been waiting for some time for a direct conversation with the driver. According to Uber the only way to resolve this issue, was through email on the Uber support system. However, this system has requested my phone number three times. This process appears an effort to delay any type of resolution hoping we will cease to request assistance. Overall, I've had mostly good experiences with Uber. I've had a few times where their GPS has taken me insanely bad routes and they've had to refund me the difference. I had one experince in which a highly rated driver argued with me about fare and almost got into a slow speed turn lane collision in DC (I informed Uber and hopefully he's not still endangering lives) but that's been it so far for bad experiences. Most drivers (99.9999999%) are professional and courteous, and they can't play the "cash only, my credit card machine isn't working" scam that cab drivers perfected long ago. Ideally, Metro wouldn't suck as much as it does so Uber would be less necessary. But since Metro will probably suck forever, Uber has nothing to fear anytime soon. read more

It's taken me a while to catch on but on far too many occassions I've had Uber drivers enroute, only to cancel. These past several months the M.O. has changed and I'd have an Uber confirmation that some driver is on their way only to receive a phone call from an unknown number which always turns out to be the driver. Question asked always; where are you going? If your answer happens to be a relatively short ride do not be surprised if your ride is mysteriously cancelled. The Uber drivers used to see the fares and destinations and would cherry-pick their rides accordingly. So Uber gets smart and disables that feature so now the drivers call to screen you. Great customer service so don't be afraid to capture a screen shot of your Uber confirmation and forward it along. The parent company should at least know about this and if they act is completely up to them. read more

I have had the WORST EXPERIENCE EVER with Uber. They put $90.96 of my money on "authorization hold" even though I did not take those rides. That money was withdrawn out of my account for 5 days before it was released back to me, causing my account to be overdrawn. At one point I was actually trying to UBER home but My card got declined because, ironically enough, UBER had put 3 bullshit $25+ "authorization holds" on my account, so I was temporarily out of money. How messed up is that. Had they not done that, I would have ACTUALLY SPENT $30+ on the ride home. But instead they lost that ride money and any future money I would have spent on rides. I will never use Uber again. Customer service was absolute shit and was nothing but automated messages. I have even provided screen shots of my last trip yesterday where it said that my driver was "arriving" but she was in the same spot as when the trip began. They're ripping people off! Update! Last night I requested a ride, my driver stopped down the street of a very busy street and I could not see him but the map indicated that he was near. I called twice and got no answer. While I was calling on the third time he not only answered but drove directly past me!!!! When I let him know this he began to raise his voice at me. He stated that he was not on my street but I even told him where he was at that time. Below was my review sent to uber _________________________ The driver could not find my pickup location at the Fairmont Washington DC hotel...which is a large established hotel and where we always stay when we are in DC. My fiance and I have been picked up from the hotel multiple times by other uber and lyft drivers without any issue. After I patiently waited for this driver to go around the same block a few times...I finally called her and she was very short with me. She blamed me for her being lost and told me to come find her as she was still driving around the block (I could tell she was moving based off the uber app map). She asked me what hotel I was at and I told her it was the Fairmont Hotel (and yes...it is a big hotel at the corner of 24th/M Street with very large visible signs)...and I had entered it as "Fairmont Hotel Washington DC" when I entered the pickup location so it should have shown up on her end with both an address and the name of the hotel/place as it shows on my end. She tells me "OK I got it now" and hangs up abruptly on me. She then proceeds to go around the block and make a left turn instead of a right turn (as she would need to do to get to my hotel)...I see this on the uber map...and she stops in front of the Westin Washington DC hotel...which is diagonally across from the Fairmont. The Westin is on the SE corner of 24th/M and the Fairmont is on the NW corner of 24th/M Street. I call her back (and it is in the 90s with high level of humidity in DC at this time...so it's very hot and not very comfortable to be standing around outside endlessly...plus I had a small emotional support animal with me as well as many bags of gifts I was bringing to my friends) to let her know she went to the wrong hotel and her response was "I'm at a hotel...what hotel are you at?" And she pretty much tells me to come find her and yells at me. When I finally explain to her how to find me...she tells me that if I know the area so much better than she does...why don't I just come and meet her at her car. And she also keeps asking me if I have luggage with me...as if that would be the only reason I should not be walking around endlessly trying to chase her down in her car when she's the one who is lost and can't seem to read a GPS map. I finally locate her and as I'm walking up to the car...she remarks "Oh...so what's wrong with you, why can't you just walk over in the first place...you don't got no luggage and you're young." And I just mentioned to her that I've never had any uber/lyft drivers have an issue finding the Fairmont nor did anyone ever confuse the entrance of the Fairmont hotel as they have a huge circular driveway entrance and huge hotel name signs there...and there are taxis/limos/ubers/lyfts coming and going from that circular driveway entrance every minute...as soon as I said this (and not in any kind of condescending tone either as I was just genuinely surprised at how she was so lost) she snaps back and cuts me off to say "tsk tsk tsk...I ain't like all the other uber drivers...I'm me...I'm me" tho I really had no idea what that proved except that she seemed set on making things as uncomfortable as possible. At this point, I'm ready to just get back out and find another uber but I was in a rush and late now because she kept getting lost enroute to pick me up and I didn't want to keep my friends waiting any longer. Once I get in, because it is hot and humid, I asked her to please turn on the AC to be more cold and stronger...I also used a light facial mist from Kiehls apothecary on my face in the backseat...not a perfume...not anything strong or very scented as I actually have allergies to strong perfumes myself. Immediately after...as she's driving, she proceeds to turn OFF THE AC and lower all the windows in the car and it immediately becomes very very hot and muggy. I let it go for a minute since I wanted to avoid any more possible confrontation with her...but after it got a bit too hot...I asked her to please put the AC on. Her response (with a very obvious condescending tone) was and using her hands to gesture for extra emphasis... "I don't know what you were just spraying around in my car just now...like lysol or perfume...I had to air it out so my car doesn't smell bad." I was so stunned to be spoken to this way and only after 5 more minutes did she finally close the windows and turned the AC on a little. Uber in DC was a life saver. Hubs and I didn't really plan out our transportation method(s) when we headed to DC so we had options. We took the metro and walked for the first day until we were literally halfway down the National Mall and our feet were killllllllling us. We had to go another mile so we called and Uber. That's when it all began. We ditched the metro for the majority of our trip and Uber'd everywhere. It was so awesome. We chose the "pool" option which basically syncs you up with other riders going in your direction for a smaller price. Each trip cost us (2 passengers) between $7-10 per ride. Yeah, we could've hailed a taxi but let me put this out there, I hate taxis. I love the option of seeing who my driver is and where they're coming from. Some of our drivers were downright hilarious! These guys/gals have 5000+ rides under their belt with amazing reviews. Some offer water, phone chargers, good jokes. Uber, you were a lifesaver! read more

I've used Uber several times a week for 10 years. Over the last few months it has gotten so bad. I will request a trip and it will say how far away the driver is AFTER I've accepted the rate. Then after a minute or so the driver will suddenly have a "drop off near by" and the wait time is 15-25 mins. This happens EVERY TIME I REQUEST EVERY WEEK. Nothing like having an Uber driver aggressively insist that you cancel the ride request with UBER and pay them directly, only to have them take off, leaving you stranded at the airport in the middle of the night when you refuse! To make matters worse, there apparently is no way for a rider to talk to anyone in customer service about it, even when it's a safety issue! My situation has been partially resolved. I was refunded $5 for the cancellation fee. I do not know the fate of the driver although I believe the driver should disassociated from Uber. In order to resolve this matter, I submitted over 10 different requests in one day under different categories to initiate my refund because some of my requests were going to individuals, possibly in India replying back asking questions that were already in the details that I wrote. I knew the individuals were Indian because it states the name of the person providing you are response . The first time, the driver gouged me on the fare for the ride home AND charged me a "wait" fee, although I was at the curb earlier than the assigned time and had to wait for him. The second time, the driver canceled the ride home without warning with no reason given and left me stranded. The third time, the driver canceled the ride home while I was still in the air and gave no reason AND charged a "drive time" fee. The web site is no help - you can't reach anyone for help. Getting a rental car at the last minute at $60 per day (before insurance and taxes) was not my idea of good value. Researching taxi, bus, metro and shuttle options in the area for Thanksgiving I concluded that taking UBER (with their free first ride credit upon sign up) would be an awesome alternative. It was UBER easy to sign up. I logged on to UBER.com and created an account with my credit card information using a promo code. Got the free ride credit instantly and downloaded their app (necessary to summon a car). I read more and more about this service and found news reports about "surge" pricing which will charge a multiplier during peak times. My fear was getting charged $300 for a 10 mile drive like someone did in that article. Sooo, the time came to use UBER. I used the app to call an UBERX car and carefully observed whether or not SURGE pricing was in effect. Since that warning didn't show up, I did a fare estimate and called a car. The designated driver called me within 2 minutes and confirmed my location. The transaction went smooth except for when we arrived at the location. There was confusion on my side whether or not tip was included. I was told for UBERX, the tip was not included and I could tip with cash if I so desired*. I gave the guy a few bucks and called it good. With the free ride credit, the trip was truly free and I got an email receipt with how much that was charged on my CC ($0.00). SUCCESS. I would use them again as it was easy and actually cheaper than taxi service**. _________________ *UBERX is their cheapest service. Supposedly, higher services like Black Car and UBERSUV have tips that are automatically added per your account settings. I never went back to see if this was true about tipping for UBERX. I was later told by peers tipping is not mandatory and built into their pricing.
