Drivers who's ability to understand English can struggle with GPS and communication with customers. We had a lady driver tell me, when I called, she was where the GPS said was the pickup spot. We stood at the front door of the hotel being told the driver could cancel after a 5 minutes wait and keep $3. Other drivers had no problem finding us. I have been using Lyft for several years now. Until recently I had no problems with their service. I found them to be punctual and efficient. The app was also well done providing up to the minute driver location and vehicle type. Recently I took my car in for repair at Zach's Auto clinic on Highland drive. I called a Lyft after dropping off. I used their Wait & Save feature since I was in no particular hurry. As I mentioned earlier, the past, the Lyft app would update you with the location of the driver on the map along with the vehicle make and model. After about five minutes I decided to get a line on where the driver was not expecting him for another 10 minutes or so. I was shocked to see that not only was the drive on site but he was preparing to leave, having been there for approximately 3 minutes. I rushed out to flag him down not knowing what kind of car he was driving. He told me that he was just about to leave. I never got a notification. The guy didn't even honk his horn. A few days later I received a call from Zach's telling me that my car was ready for pick up. I called Lyft and waited outside, not wanting a repeat of the previous incident. The driver pulled up in front of the wrong house and sat there for a minute. Again not sure if she was my ride I tapped on her window and asked her. She confirmed and I hoped in. One of my pet peeves with lift is that their drivers take off before the passenger can put on their safety belts. Most of the time they're tucked away and difficult to get at. She took off like a bat out of hell taking a hard left as she pulled out of my cul-de-sac. We hurtled down the street at about 35 mph in a school zone where the limit was 25. She seemed irritated, so I didn't say anything. As we proceed towards our destination, the GPS then instructed her to use the right ramp to get onto route 70 East. She ignored it and turned it off. I figured that maybe she knew a better way. She did not. She raced threw traffic and arrived at 5733 Buckeystown Pike. The address I clearly texted to Lyft was 502 Highland street. The driver who dropped me off a few days ago had no problem finding it. Hell, I had no problem finding it when I took my car in for service. When I told her that she was at the wrong address she insisted that wasn't the case and pointed out the location on her display. I asked her to wait a minute while I walked up to the door. The sign indeed said Zach's auto clinic but it also said that it had moved to 502 Highland street. When I headed back towards the car she started to leave. I was jumping and waving at the car but she never looked back. I was half tempted to throw a rock at her vehicle to get her attention but I didn't want to damage her car. I immediately contacted Lyft requesting a new driver. I was also looking to dispute the charges on the previous trip. Lyft's app does not cover issues like this at all. What's more the second driver showed up at the wrong address. When I got the notice of his arrival (again no vehicle type), I texted him, "where are you?" He said he was at 5733 Buckeystown Pike. Zach's Auto Clinic, I asked? No I'm at a pet grooming shop. He finally found it and dropped me off on Highland street where I was able to pick up my car, hitting me with lame excuses the entire trip after I told him how I had been stranded by the previous driver. I immediately tried contacting Lyft via the app. When I chose the phone option I received a message that the phone lines were down. I tried contacting them via PC. I could not login. Instead it kept prompting me to create a new account. I would like to think that this is an isolated incident but the unbelievably clumbsy customer service, the inept drivers and the changes to the app really have me reconsidering my transportation choices. Scheduled a Lyft pickup at location X in their app. Very clear X address. I think driver went to location Y. After a bit of searching I managed to call the driver twice with correct address, i.e., Spring Hill Metro Station Kiss and Ride. He did not seem to understand English and after 4 minutes he went away. Then Lyft sent a message charging me for a missed ride. I think I managed to cancel the missed ride charge but will have to wait 7 days to see. That's all very interesting but the real issue is I couldn't find a way to complain about the driver. Neither App nor Web has a way to tell Lyft what happened, not that I could find in the past hour or so. WARNING TO ALL DRIVERS - THIS COMPANY IS A NIGHTMARE I stopped renting with this company in JULY, paid my outstanding balance in full on AUGUST 4th ($243), and even received an email on AUGUST 8th confirming my payment was complete. Yet out of nowhere, they just charged me $85 TODAY claiming I had a balance. This is absolutely FALSE, and I have proof of all payments made. What makes this worse is the fact that they didn't even charge the card I used to pay back in August -- they went into an old bank account/card I had removed months ago and charged me WITHOUT my authorization. That is beyond unacceptable and feels like outright theft. This is not the first time they've done this either. It's the SECOND time they've taken unauthorized money from me. I no longer have any rentals with them, yet they continue to pull money whenever they feel like it. On top of this shady billing:    *   They claim there are "no fees" and "no minimum rides required," but that is a lie. They require 30+ rides, and the cheapest rental is over $300 a week.    *   Unlike Uber, they don't release a single dollar until you've paid the entire weekly rental upfront -- meaning drivers work for nothing until the company gets paid first.    *   They have taken rides away from me before until I proved my route, and once never paid the fee they offered.    *   Drivers are constantly shortchanged, nickel-and-dimed, and left without support when issues arise. First driver ignored me when I asked if I am going to be dropped off at the first location first. Because he never spoken, I canceled the rest of the ride and ordered a new one. I messaged the second driver to pull up in front of the location (In the past, one was at the end of the block and another one was lost). The second driver ignored the message and asked me to cross the busy two lane road because it was too busy for him to pull up on the correct side. Because of my back issues (which I explained in a message when I first ordered) and the traffic, I told him that I will get another driver. That is when he pulled up. He was argumentative and I told him that he does not have to worry about seeing me again. Plus, I was only given a few minutes to be in line at the post office. Within the next few minutes after this ride, I ordered another ride. I received a message that the driver was at the location and will be leaving in a few minutes. I messaged the driver twice and finally called and asked where the driver was. The driver was at the police station instead. I was forced to order another ride and this one was suppose to come within 1-9 minutes. I waited in the heat way longer than that. Finally I was picked up and I tipped the driver the maximum tip. All this occurred on June 3, 2025. Lyft refused to refund. This was the first day and only time I requested a refund for one of the rides that never showed up and was at the local police station instead. I was charged and denied a refund. On May 20, 2025, I had taken the Lyft. The first driver was going the long way and missing turns. It took longer than the typical 10 minute drive. He kept staring at me in the rearview mirror which was one of the reasons he was not paying attention to the GPS. He shared with me that an earlier passenger missed his train because he did not wake up on time. While telling me this story, he was driving in the middle of the narrow road and we were going around curves. I braced myself for a head on collision but thankfully, none happened. As he was bragging about getting 5 star reviews, I finally spoke up and asked him about our location. The money I spoke is the moment he just got it right. He portrayed me as if I did not know what I was talking about. An hour later, I had spoken with another Lyft driver. I explained my previous experience. He shared with me that he knew who I was speaking of because the passenger who missed the train complained to him. The passenger said that the guy was missing stops, going slow and was staring at him in the rearview mirror, too, and not paying attention to the road. When the passenger was upset for missing the train, the guy kicked him out. Found out that the same day, the guy had two complaints. Everyone else was either okay and tolerable or excellent. The Hebrew Israelite driver was a gentleman and was so helpful. The former cab driver/musician left a good impression, too. I am fairly new to Lyft as I have rode in them for three different days. If you are not satisfied, you can request that those drivers no longer be of service to you. Safety and respect first. read more

This is becoming a scam by design business. Every time I order a Lyft, I have to wonder if the driver will ever actually show up. I just had 4 drivers cancel on me in the span of 10 minutes. Each time one cancelled, the app said another would be here in 7 minutes only for another to link up and cancel again! Meanwhile, you can literally see the unoccupied drivers waiting for trips. I assume the company is playing this little game via their algorithm to gouge the highest fees rather than do what they should: match willing purchasers with available providers. The second to last horrible Lyft driver that cancelled on me, Derika (Baltimore, MD), accepted my ride and then called me to ask if I needed trunk space! I'm leaving the airport (BWI). This morning, my Lyft driver robbed me. He drove off with my purse, which of course is the home to my wallet, passport, cash, MacBook, iPad and phone. I never had a reason to try to contact Lyft over the phone so imagine my surprise when I use my neighbors phone to call a customer service line that led to a voicemail which prompted me to reach out via the app. Hmm. Well, sure, I could if I had my phone. This led to a round Robin of frustration, helplessness and fear. I called the police and they couldn't help me because the description of the driver and his tags were non existent without my phone, or, at the very least access to a customer service agent who could pull up my profile to help. I was also charged $80 bucks to be robbed because the thief drove to my end destination and marked the drive as complete. When I got the notification from the bank's fraud group, I contacted Lyft via the app. They had me on hold waiting for a chat representative for over three hours! When I finally got someone online they had to "escalate my issue".wait another hour for a Supervisor to be told this had to be escalated again via email. I received the email from the "manager" that all gift card sales are ineligible for a refund and admitted in the same email that the charges were not authorized. I had a frightening experience with a Lyft driver on my way home from work. The app indicated that he had arrived when, in fact, he was still quite a ways away. FRAUD ALERT - My husband posted for me, but I decided to create a Yelp account so I could share the full details. I specifically created an account on the Lyft app in order to buy gift cards for my nephews' 21st birthday. The gift cards were intended to be used for their sober ride. There was a glitch in Lyft app and I was charged for six gifts cards instead of two. I spent 2.5 hours on their chat to speak with an actual person. I got the same response each time I was transferred to a new representative: "I will need to escalate you to a specialized team to help further". When I begged them to please not transfer me, they told me that if I continued to reply in the chat, they would be unable to escalate me. I was then told that the company would email me about next steps. I also sent two emails to their customer service address. Ten (10) days later I receive this email: "I do apologize, as you mention, that your intention was only to purchase two gift cards. We are unable to process a refund for the gift card purchase, as all gift cards are non-refundable per our Terms of Service." They acknowledge the charges were unauthorized! I was mortified that I had to contact my nephews and tell them not to use gift cards that were texted to them as some of them were not authorized. Since I could not reach anyone from Lyft within the 24 hours of their birthday, I had to purchase Uber cards. I have since disputed the charges with my credit card. After I explained what happened and they saw that the charges were put through with seconds of each other, they refunded four of the gift cards. I realized what a scam they are when I could not reach anyone in customer service. When I've had any issue with Uber, they at least respond to me no later than 24 hours. Since the gift cards were deliberately not claimed, Lyft could've easily inactivated the link and stopped the charges from posting to my credit card. But they refused as they do not care! They will never get any business from me and I will shout out to anyone who will listen - DO NOT trust this company. I am so sick of using Lyft to get around the city. As an urban dweller who also works in the city, I haven't owned a car for a few years now, and rely on ride shares, bicycles, and scooters to get around town. But Lyft is so unreliable, the prices are usually gouging and inflated, the drivers never know where they're going, and the service is usually subpar. The Capital Bike Share: avoid at all costs. You HAVE to find a dock to park the bike or else you're stuck with it and getting charged. If you can even find a bike to begin with, and HOPE that it functions. And then there are the scooters... don't even think about them. The ONLY good thing I can say is that they are plentiful. But what's the point of having them everywhere when the battery doesn't last long enough to go 5 blocks?? QUITE LITERALLY!! I am fortunate enough to have almost everything I need within a few blocks of my apartment, but I regularly use scooters to commute to work. After work tonight, a scooter that had 3/5 dots of battery life traveled all of 3 blocks before it died. And I still got charged for the ride! Not to mention, that if you don't take a picture of the parking from EXACTLY the right angle, the AI "eye" doesn't see that you parked correctly and charges you $25 as a fine!!! I used one of the Lyft Scooters! horrible. My wife used the uber scooter at the same time as I used Lyft, hers was half the price and you could park it anywhere. Mine would not let me park and on the app does not tell you where to park but where not to( with obscure 'red lines' that are hard to see on a smart phone) I tried to call their support line but the recording said it was out of service. When I had gone a half mile down the road(finally saw another scooter after trying to park it several times) it continued to charge me (.44 a minute) not the arduous walk back to meet my wife in 90 degree weather. Needless to say I was steaming. Lyft continuously cancels rides and when they do so, while I do not recieve a charge, there is NO mechanism through which I can issue a compaint with Lyft. There is no where on their app to bring to Lyfts attention that a driver cancelled the ride on the rider. In this case, I missed a boat launch for a boat I was supposed to be on with family. After waiting for nearly 10 minutes for the driver and then having the ride cancelled, and then having to line up another ride with a seven minute wait time, I was out of luck.
