Uber in Seattle is... well, it's what you use because there aren't really any other options. Taxis? Practically extinct. Hailing one here feels like waiting for a unicorn to trot down Pike Street. So, Uber it is. The service itself is hit-or-miss. Sometimes you get a clean car, a driver who actually knows the city, and a smooth ride. Other times you're stuck on a scenic "Seattle detour" that's just code for "the GPS lost its mind in SoDo." Traffic is brutal no matter what, so don't expect miracles--whether you're in an Uber or your own car, you'll be staring at brake lights. Pricing swings with the mood of the city. Surge pricing during a Mariners game or when it rains (so, basically every other day)? Expect your wallet to feel lighter. But compared to the ghost town of taxis, Uber at least shows up when you need it, which is really the only reason it wins by default. Uber in Seattle isn't glamorous. It's not particularly cheap, and it's not always smooth. But it exists, it functions, and it gets you where you need to go--eventually. I cannot believe the prices Uber is getting away with. It's insane in Seattle. A simple math equation: needed ride to SeaTac, distance 20 miles. If you car got just 20 mtg, then say it's $7.00 in gas. So my 25 minute, 20 mile ride was $87.00. Let's say the driver makes $25 per hour, which means they made $12.50 on my 25 minute ride. Last December, it cost $35.00 from Vegas airport to Chinatown. Last month, it was $75.00. It was both around 11 am on weekday. I asked the driver how much he's paid for the trip and he said $19.00. This is nuts! The driver was courteous and great. uber is gouging! read more

Getting off cruise ship. I am disabled so can't walk very fast. Driver arrived and told us his location. I texted back and said we were on the way. Apparently I couldn't walk there fast enough so the driver cancelled the trip and I was charged almost $9 for the cancellation!! Tried to complain but they gave me "vouchers" That I will never use. I have used Uber one time and it wasn't an honest experience because the driver tried to rip me off in South America. Last night all I was doing was looking up the rates to go from point A to point B. Next thing I get a phone call from Uber which I ignored and than I find I am charged for a cancellation fee for a trip I Did not book or confirm. Never will I use Uber again. The website does not give any information as to how to explain the horrible situation. I think the drivers are looking at the interest and than scam you. No customer service. Very poor, price gouging, 10 mile ride one way was close to $4.00 per mile, grant if it were only a mile or two, they have a minimum. My friend had no choice at the time but I was surprised at the price for a short ride. I'll make sure my friend doesn't use Juan's CHM1220 uber service again. I suppose I'll try a different service next time or I'll look up the service for my friend next time and find out about prices. I used Ubereats a few years ago and after they ripped me off terribly I didn't use them for ages. Then for whatever dumb reason I started again. In no time at all one of their drivers failed to deliver a large hundred-dollar order, and Uber's help line (an obvious AI) was set up, it sounded like, to do one thing only: Deny refunds on services not received. For some reason (knock wood) this hasn't happed with Doordash; so fortunately I can never deal with a rather crooked Uber ever again but still get the delivery service elsewhere when I need it. Been a customer for years. Ordered a meal tonight and it was totally inedible. Went to chat to get a partial refund even though the whole order was inedible. I ordered a yakisoba bowl, no sauce. Cold, tasted moldy, noodles stuck together in huge crumbs, 5 piece of miniscule veggies. BBQ pork had watery taste, like it was rehydrated. Chat would not resolve a partial refund. The order was $26, I asked for $13 refund, no credit as after my treatment (I have screen snapshots) I will not do business with them again. Support hung up 2 times on chat with me. A couple years ago I actually called a Bellevue taxi company and said I needed a ride to North Bend which is 24 miles away. They flat out told me, no. I have used Uber for years. However, a recent ride cancelled by the driver, Crystal in hot Springs Arkansas has driven me away. We set up a morning uber to take us to the horse races. We called the driver when we were past the time being picked up. Right after this call she cancelled us. Then she charged us a $30 cancellation fee. We successfully disputed this with the card company but, Uber has refused to remove the $30. We are the newest members of Lift! I made an appointment to be picked up and added my destination. However, this morning in my account there was no scheduled pick-up. We contacted Uber and they sent a driver but it was going to cost me $26.95. I said that last night the cost was $24.94, so why was I being charged more? The guy at customer service gave me some excuse but we accepted because we were flying back home and needed to get to Lynnwood City Center Station. Our driver did not speak English and his car's stench of cigarette smoke filled the air that it was hard to breathe. He dropped us at the wrong address and he would not take us to the correct address. He said I shoul call Uber, so I did. Customer service said he needed the address of our location but we did not know it since we are not from here and the driver had no clue of where he was. Customer service cancelled our ride and called a new driver for an additional $14.95, but on the phone I was informed it would be an additional $10.00. So it cost us approximately $40 for a 1 mile ride. The second driver was goid. It was the scariest most stressful ride we have ever taken. Plus, they are thieves and con artists. I am leaving this review because I got charged a $25 cancellation fee. I canceled the Uber because the cost of it was nearly twice that of Lyft. Good afternoon, I ordered Uber eats on Sunday 06April from IHOP near me. No fault of restaurant that I see but my driver picked up my food and was a no show to my place of delivery. I was credited back the $40.79 back to my account 3 days later. The info on the Uber apps reflects nothing with this activity or driver that canceled within minutes of picking up my order I did not catch his name. There has to be a better way to track these drivers when they pick up your order. Not exactly sure why he was a no show but he definitely picked up my order and it reflected that in the app. Please inform your drivers to do a better job in communicating with the customer if something goes wrong or if it was malicious intent. So unhappy with Uber. I used them over Lyft because it was 30% off if I used Venmo. I set it all up to pay with Venmo but it defaulted to regular payment somehow. I contacted Customer Service (after a total ringmarole because their app won't help you if your question doesn't fit in the right category) and asked them to apply the discount. They said no, several times and very patronizingly. I think they should do a good faith credit to retain a customer, but they wouldn't do it. I was bragging up Uber to my husband as an economical way to get to the airport, and I reserved a ride from Everett Washington to SeaTac airport two weeks in advance of our trip. The driver was confirmed to pick us up at 4 am. At around 4:05 he called and asked where we were. He didn't have our correct address and was at a coffee shop in downtown Everett. He sounded confused and we decided there wasn't time for him to meet our schedule, so I canceled the ride and we drove to SeaTac. Now we're looking at a big bill for parking at an airport lot for two weeks. That was a stressful and needlessly expensive way to start our trip. Took an Uber to the airport yesterday. The driver sped away when I tried to get my belongings. Luggage and personal items. Chased her down to no avail. She sped away. Stealing my belongings and then refused to return them for 2 1/2 hours causing me to miss my flight. Then left me stranded at the airport taking 2 fares with my luggage in her car. Customer service is worthless only giving a $5.00 meal coupon. I will tell everyone I know to not use Uber go to Lyft. Spent 3 hours attempting to contact someone. I took an uber because I have a cast above the knee due to a broken leg. Driver dropped me off 2 blocks away from my appointment. I had to walk on crutches 2 blocks in horrible pain and Uber refused to refund the $12 trip! They gave me a 5 credit?! They claim it is policy.. so it seems they are not required to drop you off at the destination you request. And you still have to pay!
