Driver drove us from SeaTac Airport to our hotel, about 5-6 blocks away (started then stopped the meter a block later), and upon arrival at the hotel, wanted $25 -- and refused to take a credit card for payment. When we refused to pay him cash, he acted as if he was going to drive away with our 4 suitcases and 3 pieces of carry-on luggage still in the back of his vehicle, refusing to open the trunk lid until paid. Given $25 cash, he more-or-less dumped our luggage from the back of the taxi, then told us he wanted a tip as well (no!) -- and when I asked him for a receipt, he said he'd get one. He sat down in the driver's seat, started the taxi, backed into our luggage -- nearly running us over -- and left. Unfortunately, my cellphone was in my carry-on and I couldn't get to it to photograph him or his cab ID number before he began backing up. Little driver, huge ego, terrifying driving. I took a cab ride from the airport, there was no traffic, it took 16 minutes and the driver tried to charge me $53. When I asked him about it, he told me to call the 1-800 to the city to complain. Today I was driving on I5 North , in the the Madison St Exit lane. An EastSideForHire taxi was in lane to the left of me , standing still as that lane was blocked because of traffic .The eastsideforhire taxi driver suddenly changed lanes and jumped in front of me while I was driving at around 50 mph and just behind him. Beware! This company practices unethically and possibly illegally. I recently visited Seattle via SeaTac International Airport. I don't use taxi service often and was in learn-as-you-go mode when I arrived. Uber prices were surging at the moment and quick math based on miles to my hotel and the listed rates on passing taxi cab windows indicated a simple, metered taxi would be my most economical option. An attendant at the curb offered to procure me a taxi, but added that he was closing in the next few minutes and needed to know right away if I wanted him to call one for me. I did. He hailed a solid, black Toyota (Venza?) hatchback and off I went. As I rode, I calculated a second time how much my fare should be, (approximately $40-45,) in order to know how much to tip in advance. I was flabbergasted when we arrived at my hotel and the driver indicated I owed $79.00. Immediately I questioned how he arrived at that number, to which he asked, "how much did the guy, (at the airport who called the cab,) tell you the ride would be?" This was a metered taxi per the signage on the cab; no one had given me a fixed price, which I told the driver. He responded that they don't do metered service from the airport, but offered to reduce the price to $60. Tired as I was after a long flight and late night arrival and concerned for my luggage in the trunk, I paid up despite knowing I was being scammed. I understand now why all the warnings in the cab defining the rules and regulations for taxis with #'s to call for violations, but who writes those #s down en route? As much as I later wished I had so I could report this shady operation, I didn't. It's now 2.5 weeks later and I have yet to hear back from the company, so I'm posting it publicly so that others can be forewarned. -- To whom it may concern: I'm writing to call your attention to an incident that happened on Saturday afternoon, June 4th. I called to order a taxi to Belltown at 4:10 pm. I spoke with a dispatcher for about two minutes and waited on our taxi to arrive. She said it would take 15 minutes. 10 minutes later, I called to cancel the taxi. I spoke with a dispatcher. The time stamp on my phone is 4:20 pm. 11 minutes later, at 4:31 pm, my phone rang with a local phone number (number redacted for Yelp). I answered, and it was one of your drivers, who explained he was in front of my pickup spot. I told the man we'd called to cancel the taxi 10 minutes prior. He didn't seem to understand. I calmly explained to the man that I'd spoken with a dispatcher and canceled the cab at 4:20 pm. Your employee - the driver - then proceeded to scream at me and berate me. He asked me if I understood that I'd wasted his time. I tried to tell him that I wasn't sure why the dispatcher hadn't canceled the call, but he continued to yell. He then hung up. I am writing you to tell you about this for several reasons: - This behavior towards customers is unacceptable. I'm not sure where the disconnect was on your end (between dispatcher and driver), but it is never be acceptable to treat a customer this way. - When your driver called to launch his apparent tirade, I was currently en route to a black tie event. What a way to put a damper on an otherwise lovely evening. - We'd ended up taking an Uber, because the driver was nearby and could respond within two minutes. Not only was the ride to our destination fast, clean, and efficient, but it was 30 percent cheaper than it would have been with your driver. Want to guess what service we will be using next time? Given all of these factors, I will be inclined to never use your service again; to leave negative reviews on Yelp, etc.; and to tell friends and family of my experience. We ordered a taxi to the Seatac airport from Eastside for Hire on February 22rd for the early morning of February 23rd. But the next morning taxi never came! We called the phone 206-242-6200 about 10 times and nobody answered! Fortunately, we were able to find another ride, but we almost missed our flight! I always use their service for a ride to the airport. Reliable, always on dot, clear fare always cheaper (for my evaluation) then competitors, and gentle manners of the drivers. Dispatch center sometime are not that sharp on getting your pick up address, so be sure to let them repeat what you asked for. Recommended if you want a cab on time and don't like surprises on your ride fare. They recently increased the fare but it's still the most competitive based on my knowledge. read more

Wow, this is the first and last time I will be taking E Cab (a East-Side & Flat Rate For Hire Co). I've used STITA, Orange, and Yellow cabs in the past from the airport. No issues. Today had to be the pits for our driver (cab#468) because we recently moved from Renton to Tukwila (which is 10 minutes from the airport) and didn't need to take the highway. First, he told us to tell him where to go when we got in. He didn't ask for address to input into his GPS. Second, when we told him to got off the freeway and started through the back roads, he proceeded to tell us that they charge flat rates for short trips. "$20", he said, even though I don't see it posted anywhere on the poor Prius (who's engine light, tire light, and others were on). That was fine by me, I just wanted to get home. But he kept going on about how this was a "WASTE OF HIS TIME" to be driving a short trip, we should have taken the handicap van that was ahead of him (excuse me? not ADA and only two passengers so that's a waste), and continue to argue with my husband about how this was bad for him financially (yeah since we normally tip over $5 for short rides) and missed several turns, making the trip longer, on purpose. Finally, his argument with my husband just got to the point that he dumped us off down the street from our home. Saying he has our trip recorded and feel free to call the company. I'm like, really? I had an encounter with cab #2238, who was constantly tailgating me. I was driving in the far right lane at the posted speed limit with my 8-month-old baby in the car and a Baby on Board sign. He should be aware that we are unable to drive like maniacs like he was. Yet he was constantly tailgating. Every time we slowed down due to traffic in front of us, he was an inch away from rearending. The worst part of the whole ordeal was when we attempted to turn right onto 509 South, he proceeded to cut us off by squeezing through on the shoulder and came inches from T-boning our car ON THE SIDE WITH OUR BABY. Each and every driver for this company is careless, negligent, and unconcerned about putting other people's lives in danger. I needed a taxi to the airport and I was taking a car seat with me. I called and asked if it was ok and if I can install it on the taxi, they sais it was ok so I schedule the taxi for 6AM. The taxi arrived half an hour late, seriously, 30 minutes late and they knew that I was going to the airport so being on time is very important!. I called a couple of times to see what was going on and they keep saying that the driver was 5 minutes away. When we finally arrived to the airport I told him I was paying with a card, on the web site it says that they accept VISA and Mastercard. The driver pull out his phone, opened up the Uber app and charged me like an Uber. Being half an hour late there was no chance that I was going to argue with him. I ended up paying 50 dolars instead of the 39 dollars they "calculated" using my zip code. Every time I have called them, they have been very polite and always on time when it comes to there pick ups. The prices can't be beat as well, if I remember correctly it's not a running meter, but pay by zip codes you go through. From Belltown to Eastgate (Bellevue) it cost be only $30 with tip. Money well spent. The drivers were also friendly and seemed to be experienced drivers. Cars were also well maintained and clean. Eastside for Hire has a contract to accept Metro Taxi Scrip. Today, FOUR OF THEIR DRIVERS REFUSED TO TAKE IT at the airport. Not cool.

PROS: Can swipe your card from the back seat. No exchange and paper trail swipe of credit cards from one to another. Flat fee! The flat fee is pretty affordable from Belltown to the airport. Almost a $15-$20 difference than hiring a Yellow/Orange/Red/Blue/Green whatever color you want Cab to get you from point a to point b. Flat fee!No need to look up traffic on your phone and map the fastest/most efficient way to your destination/tell the driver which freeway you want to take and watch the map so they don't jip you. It's a flat fee. You will never have to answer the question "Don't have cash?" again. CONS: "I'm three minutes away." If you aren't three minutes away, don't tell me you are. It's one thing I can't stand! I'm pretty meticulous with my time and punctual 99% of the time. At 4:30am if you tell me you're three minutes away but really 8 minutes away, I could use the extra couple of minutes to recheck my place in a calmly manner before leaving. I like to maximize the use of my time. I will be where I say I will be at the time I need to be. Not only is this a waste of time, it could potentially make me pretty late/make me miss a flight (in a dramatic case) as every minute matters when you're headed to the airport. End of story. The dispatch doesn't always pick up their phone and when they do, they aren't very polite. Smelly/unclean cars make me wish I brought a towel to sit on, air freshener, and automatic fan from Disney land. Seriously. A couple of things you can do to make your experience better: 1. Make sure to ask for the driver's cab number (not his digits, the number on the side of the cab) before hanging up with dispatch. If you get into the incorrect cab because the driver hurries out of the car, shoves your junk in his trunk (specifically, suitcases) and doesn't tell you he is not your assigned driver, the original driver will call you 283839829x to ask where you are. I've been told this is "stealing". On one occasion (prior to knowing this) I got into the wrong cab and was called by my actual cab driver. The one that "stole" me directed me NOT to pick up the phone. SHAADYYYY! 2. Keep conversation to a minimum. The cab drivers have your number and sometimes will text you to see how you're doing and what you're up to. When did we become homies?! No thanks. Living on the Eastside, you don't have a lot of options for cabs. Luckily there is Eastside for Hire! Living in Issaquah and working in Bellevue, I have used them quite a few times. Even when I am in Seattle, and not using Lyft, I try and use Eastside for hire. My favorite things about them are their flat rates, and the fact that they are ALWAYS timely. We never have to wait for them, and they are usually early. We most recently used them for a trip to the airport that we e-mailed and booked a few days in advance. We got a text to confirm the day before, and our driver was not only on-time, but 5 minutes early. The $50 flat-rate fee to/from the airport is great too. If on the eastside, it may be our only reliable option, but I will still be happy to use them. read more

Wow - Carl the supt. from Eastside for hire is probably one of the nicest guys I know and boy did he come through big for me. I left my ONLY set of keys in a cab this past weekend and had no way to get into or move my car. Unfortunately it was a smart key so I was looking at anywhere from $800-1500 to get new keys and have my ECU swapped out. I left a message and Carl was able to track down the cab I was in using the last 4 digits of the credit card number and the amount paid. He then called me up described my keys AND then personally DELIVERED them to my house on his way home. How can you beat that right? Talk about service, these guys are top notch. All of the eastside cab drivers are hustlers. I took a cab from airport to a destination where the fare price is a flat price. 1. He added $10 on top of that. 2. He said he doesn't accept credit card. Cash only. When the website clearly says they must accept any form of payments. 3. Everything was turned off inside the cab. No meter. No card payment processor. ALL TURNED OFF. 4. When the ride was almost over. I firmly told him I did not have cash. Then he decided to take out his own four square card processor instead of turning on the one that's attached to the passengers headrest. Lol. I mean. No wonder uber is dominating the market. If I could rate lower I would! First experience I was sharing a cab with a friends. Their stop was 1st, driver said their cost was $15 (5 miles) they were dropped off without issue. I was now alone the driver and he started making inappropriate comments, super creepy. Two miles later at my stop (2 miles) he wanted to charge me an additional $15. We argued but ended up just paying him. Didn't want to aggravate creepy guy any further. 2nd time using was last night. I was with a friend and flagged down the cab in downtown Seattle. About 5 minutes into the ride the driver said, "It's going to be $35" (for and 8 mile ride) We immediately got out of the cab, then he wanted to argue with me. UBER to the rescue. This was a good service in that the guy showed up exactly on time and was very polite and friendly. He didn't have a hard time finding the place I was going despite not being familiar with the building. However, it was quote online as being $29 dollars. "Flat rate" to me means just that, it is a flat rate to wherever you're going. When I got out of the car he charged me $42. That's a significant difference. Had I known it would be that much, plus tip, of course, I could have just gotten a cab from airport instead! Or a shuttle for just $33 and walked a couple blocks from the hotel drop off to my apartment. If I could put zero stars I would! This company used to be on time always, but recently they have ALWAYS been late. 10 min or less turns into 30 minutes or more. What prompted me to write today was this... Two times today I needed to use a cab. Again, TWICE and both times the drivers were more than 40 minutes later than the time I was given. Now I'm in a cab (55min later) and super late to work. All I got was "in sorry sir.." I have been using this company for over two years, they see me in the system and all I can get is "I'm sorry"?!?! I'm late to work, probably 20min and it is purely your crappy service that is to blame. If I was told that it was going to be 55 min then I would have used another service. This taxi service is an absolute scam -- as noted by other reviews. I flew into SeaTac at 1:30 AM and figured I would take a cab, rather than an UBER. I thought that a "flat-rate" service would be cheaper than Uber/Lyft, but boy was I wrong. It cost $98.40 (!!!!) to drop my friend off in Fremont and then drop me off in Ballard! Are you kidding me?!?! As mentioned by other reviewers, there was no meter, and to make matters worse, I checked Uber rates when I got home and it was only $32 to SeaTac. Good rates but greedy drivers colluding to gouge customers of late. My gf and I have used Eastside for Hire many times in the last couple of years to take us home when we are out having some drinks with friends. The fare from 98007 to 98052 has always been $12. However, last night we took the same route and the driver quoted us $40.40. We also took the same route a couple weeks earlier and another driver charged us $30. I paid the $30 a couple weeks ago thinking rates had changed, as most things do over time. Last night however I balked at paying yet another $10 on top of the last increase, and the driver quickly backed down and let me pay him $25 instead. This morning, just before writing this review, I entered the zip codes on their website (eastsideforhire.com) and confirmed the rate is STILL $12. I can only infer from these last two experiences that drivers are making up higher fares and trying to gouge unsuspecting customers into giving them extra money that goes directly into their pockets. I have willfully given drivers $20 before for this $12 fare (a 67% tip) because I appreciated their good service and good rates. From now on, however, I am going to confirm the rates on their website and challenge any driver who decides to make up some bogus rate and report them immediately to their dispatch. I am only sorry I didn't get the drivers' names and promptly report them the last two times, but now I am aware and prepared--and so should you be after reading this review! read more

I have never taken a taxi before. A couple nights ago, I missed my bus and decided not to wait an hour for the next one. I looked for taxis and found this company through Yelp. Granted, the reviews scared me a little but I'd seen the cars around before and figured why not. I was pleasantly surprised when my cab got to my location on time after reading all the bad reviews about being late, etc. My cab driver was very nice and engaged in minimal, yet friendly conversation with me. I arrived at my destination on time and overall, I was very happy. So speed forward two days to when I make a last minute emergency flight reservation. I gave Eastside for Hire another call and made a reservation for 5:30. My cab was spot on time, the driver greeted me enthusiastically and put my bag in the trunk for me without me even having to ask. I can't say enough good things about this company and I'm sorry for the others who have had bad experiences! read more

Called last Friday explained I needed to get to SeaTac the following Tuesday. I also explained I had three medium sized bags, a dog AND a crate. What do they show up in on Tuesday? A Prius. This review kind of saddens me because I've used this service for a while during the day, and have called them at least a dozen times and successfully gotten timely rides, as well as tipped well when arriving at my destination. I use public transit and have a long commute so sometimes I'll call them during the day to get to work as a random convenience. However twice in a row now while out late at a bar in South Renton I've called them, waited outside for more then half an hour after them saying it will take 15 minutes (This last case being 45 and nothing,). Then a cab just never showed up. I ended up having to walk to a hotel down the road (I didn't have my phone with me) for them to call me another cab service which took less than 10 minutes to get there. This has happened twice in a row and there is nothing more frustrating that just wanting to get home, assuming something will get you there, and it just not happening. SO after these past 2 experiences I'll never be calling East Side for Hire ever again. Because despite being cheaper than most cabs, I'd much rather just pay a bit more for something certain, rather than relying on something that essentially lied to my face and never came through. I had very good experiences, and I recently had a horrible experience. I rarely had any issues with getting rides from the Eastside to the airport. I had them pick me up at 5am and they were on time. They were 20 minutes late once but it was a Saturday night so I figured they were busy, and I wasn't in a huge rush. Recently tried to get a cab from Fremont Oktoberfest back to Kirkland. You would think the responsible thing to do is to cab it and not drive, right? I tried to call their dispatch service 3 times. The first time I was told 10 minutes. 10 minutes later, it was now 15 minutes. 15 minutes later, it was "no drivers, we'll call you". Euh..what? I finally flag down an Eastside for Hire cab, as it turns out there are plenty picking up people randomly. A couple of minutes into the ride, he asks me how my night was. I tell him about the lack of response from the dispatching system, thinking I would get a sympathetic ear. Instead, he immediately gets irate, literally starts insulting me telling me someone is waiting (even though I had just said the dispatcher told me no one was), turns the cab around, drives all the way back to where we started, and yells at me to get out. What...the... Luckily, another cab saw this happen, and was nice enough to offer a ride. He decides to follow us, and while driving, is yelling at my new driver not to give me a ride. I wouldn't be able to dream this up if I tried. How someone like this is able to have any kind of driving/taxi privileges is beyond me. What happened to common courtesy? Professionalism? Glass half full, guess I got lucky he drove me back instead of ditching me in the middle of the road. read more

I park at Mercer Island park n ride and take the bus to the station and then when I come back late at night I take Eastside for Hire back to my car. They are cheaper than yellow cab. read more

Wow. Based on the other reviews, I would first think that I just got really unlucky with Eastside for Hire's service. Except that they jacked me about 4 different times in 3 days. For the past 3 days, I've had to go back and forth from the Hyatt Bellevue to our corporate offices in a giant business park about two miles away. I wouldn't title myself as Chief Complainer, but I will right now. Here's why: First time: called for two cabs - only sent one Second time: cab was so beat up - surprised we made it to the destination Third time: couldn't find destination on GPS Fourth time: wrong destination Eastside, you guys are freaking killing me. read more

The low rates can't be beat, that's for sure. However, after reserving a taxi online from the night before, I got a text the next day (5 minutes before we were suppose to be picked up) saying, "your taxi is not yet on its way, call provider to check status." I called the company and they had me confirm my address. Unfortunately, the dispatcher's voice was very quiet and I could barely hear her, but we managed. 20 minutes later, still no taxi. Called the dispatcher and was told that the taxi was stuck in traffic and that they would call another taxi to come pick us up. 10 minutes later, a taxi finally came and picked us up. Boy, what an ordeal. At least this particular taxi driver was efficient and got us there on time. I forgot his name, but his car is #2276. If you ever want to use this company, request this particular taxi driver. Other than that, I would not recommend this company. read more

After countless times battling with the local taxi competitors, I was about to throw in the towel and resort to the almost just as unreliable public transit system. Luckily, I met an Eastside For Hire car one night and have been a happier person ever since. Not only are they always on time, but the fares are reasonable, and the dispatchers and drivers are friendly. They even refuse personal phone calls while driving to allow for a quieter ride. And then there's the added bonus of energy efficient cars. Don't waste your time calling any other taxi company! read more

I booked a taxi for airport from Bellevue at 6:30am for business trip. I waited for 15 minutes, the taxi did not show up. I called and they gave me the number to talk to the taxi driver, he needed directions every step (he said he has a GPS) and hung up on me in the end. I called the company, they said "he is 2 miles away, just wait for couple more minutes". I waited and waited, 30 minutes went by but he never showed up... DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE read more

I will be sure to avoid them in the future! After getting kicked out of one cab for arguing with the driver for jacking up his rates (he went four blocks in the wrong direction), I needed a ride Friday night from Capitol Hill. I managed to flag down an Eastside For Hire cab and 1.8 miles later we made it to my house at which point he charged me $10. What? I questioned him on the price as it seemed extremely high for less than 2 miles, no traffic and only one person in the car. He then asked me what was wrong with a $10 charge and what did I think it should be. Please explain how their drivers can just "make up" charges??? read more
