I have two different experiences with Uber, now my experience going to my appointment was cool. We chatted a little bit and it was curbside service. But upon my second ride home, my driver consistently stayed on social media while driving me home. Now how do you deal with that situation. Do you not tip him and leave him a bad report. Or do treat it as an isolated experience. My last couple of experiences riding with Uber has not been the best. It takes nothing but a split second to change someone else's life forever. Per Uber Eats - part of Uber Technologies I paid for and ordered food through Uber eats. The delivery driver brought it to the wrong apt in my complex. They took a picture of the door proving it's the wrong apt. I can't scroll the picture up to see what apt # it is. In the last 8 month, about half of the Uber driver's in Houston don't speak any English. NOT ANY ENGLISH AT ALL! How can that be safe? I'd give zero if I could. I have ordered from Uber Eats numerous times. My order has always gone to the address that I had listed. But for some reason Uber had glitched. I placed an order and apparently my order was in route to a home I moved out of 4 1/2 years ago. When I caught the error I canceled it but it was too late and I was charged anyway. I reached out and was told that there was no way they could refund me. It was a glitch on their end but they made it out to be my fault because I canceled the order. They said that I should've called them and canceled it through them. It does make sense what difference it would have made by calling them or canceling it on my end. And they also said well it's in our privacy notice that you are now responsible since you canceled. Uber scams people! I scheduled a pick up the day before. I was to be picked up at 11:30am, I cancelled at 10:41am. Uber charged me $25.00 for cancelling. I never received notice that a driver had picked up my request. They say if you cancel before it's picked there is no charge, if you cancel after it's picked you must cancel within 60 mins. IF the request isn't picked 60 mins before the pick up time how can you possibly cancel in the time allowed? If you are not notified that a driver has picked your request, how can you possibly know the time frame? When I cancelled there was no drive posted. Here's why I'm switching from Uber to Lyft I used the app recently -- it's been a while since I've used it. Drive was fine, driver was pleasant. I left him a good tip. Then I got an email saying that my card didn't work, I clicked through to change it, and then was shown that it had worked. All well and good but the amount charged didn't include the tip I left, and there was no support available for this issue. I tried to find the phone number, but the phone number is for drivers only. I went back to the app. Tried to add the tip again. Now it left *double* the good tip, and no way to change it. And no way to talk to support. I'm switching back to Lyft. read more

I have had only one BAD driver, so my experience as a passenger has always been excellent. But my issue with Uber is their website which, for some mystical reason, never lets me leave a comment. I can log into the iPhone app and website with no issues, but when I try to leave a comment, it does not save it. I tip my drivers in cash because Uber takes 30% of their pay as gig workers. The Uber website is a serious issue, however, because the drivers should have access to incidents when they are praised. Dont use this app. Not for food delivery. Not for rides. Everytime i request a ride it says the driver is 5 mins away, and after i click it, it then STARTS looking for a driver. And what was 5 mins becomes 30 mins and i end up late to places! Last time my uber driver missed an exit, and for a $30 trip, i was charged $100! I just ordered food today, and after bringing my food MUCH past delivery time. (I waited 3 hours)the driver had many many stops along the way. When my cold food and melted ice making my sprite watery came, she did not have the iced coffee i had also ordered. She said maybe it was the restaurants fault, and left. I submitted to uber for missing items, and they sent me a message saying they would block my account for making high number of requests. Let's put it like this. There is still room to improve. I downloaded uber awhile back when I was in another city. Never really used it but was reintroduced to it while at the bayou arts festival. Ryan, the marketing person for Houston? gave me some free credit to test out. This Halloween, we all met up at my house to pre-drink. There was 9 of us so we ordered 2 uberXs. The drivers were really nice and of course the first ride was FREE, but it would have been only a little over 10 bucks from the medical center to montrose. Which is totally worth it since their was crazy traffic, no parking, and of course the potential DWI. We had a few more drinks and decided to change locations to check out the rice party! This is the 2nd time we have left montrose a bit early for the same location. Uber's GPS was really off. The driver was pretty mad at us, even though I called him early on to explain that we were really at a particular location. I do like the call driver feature. I ended up using it for all 3 drivers since the GPS was off and wanted to have him find us asap. The final driver picked us up from rice village back to the med center. At this point some of group decided to split up so we were able to take uberXL home. There is a slightly higher premium, but at the cost of one vehicle instead of 2 it still beat it. My only problem with uber is their price surges. For probably one of the busiest nights in town it was only 3.4x. Granted my trip was only 7 bucks x3 it was a little over 20 so still very manageable by a big group. But I could see how a FAR drive this multiplier could really add up. The time of arrivals was fast. I would definitely use their services again for regular going out where drinking is involved, but might have to make some comparable analysis during surge spikes. read more

I think Uber is being too aggressive and trying to grow to fast that the quality of Uber has gone down hill. A couple of weeks ago my driver got into a minor fender bender after dropping me off. He was trying to turn around on a narrow inner city road to get back on the road and the car behind and him collided. Good thing both cars were traveling slow otherwise it would have been a full accident. Drivers appear to be so quick to get their next paid ride he was probably distracted. I noticed lately drivers are getting alerts for their next ride will a few blocks away from dropping off the current passenger. I felt bad for the accident but that is the whole reason I don't drive to/from the airport. The 2nd incident was last night. There was a glitch in the Uber app. My driver was 45 minutes away in Sugar Land. In my ride summary it said I wanted a ride in the Sugar Land area not from IAH. It took 15 minutes to sort out Uber's mistake and per Uber's policy I get a $5 ride credit no refunds. read more

When I think back to life before Uber... I remember disappointment. Lots of disappointment. I relied on taxis and they just were not reliable. And while I've had maybe two or three Uber experiences that weren't amazing, 97% of the time I have been pleased with Uber. Whether it's an SUV for a large group in San Francisco, an Uber X the majority of the time in Phoenix, or a black car on a random occasion where I'm in a hurry or it's surge pricing for X, Uber has not let me down... Drivers are always friendly enough... some more than others, and most importantly, I can rely on Uber to get me from point A to point B safely. I love that no $$ is exchanged as well. It's so convenient! I've used Uber in Houston, Austin, Phoenix, New York, San Franciso, Saint Louis, Chicago, and probably a few other cities too... and I plan on continuing to do so. I have been working for this app off and on for a few years. I was delivering food recently and had to brake harder than normal due to Houston's courteous drivers. Of course the drinks spilled all over the food I was delivering. Well Uber allows you to mark the trip you are on as damaged goods. Accidents do happen. I've had nothing but good experiences with Uber. Although I started using it later than most, my first ride wasn't free but I was able to use a living social deal for next to nothing. The deal for new users was $6 for 3 rides. Since I had $5 in living social bucks, the uber deal was only $1. You basically get $8 off each of your first 3 rides. My first ride, which was nearly 11 miles would have been around $15, but using my discount, it was $6.76. Yes, some of the drivers don't really know houston and rely on their GPS to tell them directions which is not always good. My first driver was Persian and spoke great English and showed up in a nice new cadillac, but he had only been in this country for about 2 months!! He also took a longer route to my destination, which ended up costing me a little more. So that's something to think about with drivers that may not know the city well. read more
