Uber does okay with Houston! It's working out between the new technology of ride hailing apps and the old Taxi system. Uber generally gets me to where I wanna go in Houston for relatively cheap, considering the sheer size of this city. There always seem to be people available nearby and have never had to wait more than 15 minutes for a ride or so. Prices are going up. It seems like the drivers are getting pinched more and more. The drivers are often interesting people. You don't really know who you're going to get- it's fun chatting them up, but some just wanna be left alone. I wish there was a setting in the app to let you or the driver know if the other person would rather be left alone. This city is big, that you have to watch it- going from, say, NRG stadium, to the Woodlands could be an expensive endeavor. read more

I reserved a ride with Uber and when the driver arrived, she got out of the vehicle as I was getting in the back with my dog, and she came over and yanked my dog by her leash and dragged her out of the car and injured my dogs front legs!! Then, she just drove off! ! I reported this to Uber and then they sent another driver which I did not authorize and did not want after this incident. They continued to charge me for both rides that I never even got and told me that they would not refund any of it! They sided with the driver who injured my dog! I reported the incident to the police as well and let Uber know this, but they still refused to refund me for both charges. I also reported this to the Better Business Bureau and requested a refund but Uber has not responded to this yet and probably won't. This is completely unacceptable and I will never do business with Uber again! In fact, I'm taking them to court for negligence, to pay the vet fees for my dog's injuries and employing drivers who think it's OK to injure animals and charge customers for rides that they never received or ordered! They deactivated my account because supposedly my car is not up to their standards or expectations for use! I've had my car fixed and sent multiple photos of my car and they still refuse to reactivate my account! I'm an uber one member for uber, and these last few days have been horrible. I was ordering some snacks from Kroger that was a total of $17. at checkout I revived a notification that if I spent $50 they would apply a discount of 40% off. so I'm thinking hmm do I need anything? so I build my cart to $50.77. the applied the promotion and charged me $33.22. the driver deletes a few items without asking, and swaps out items without asking. after he drops it off, uber charges me 48.77. it took me 2 days with customer support to discuss this issue. just to be contacted today and tell me that the total didn't meet $50, wince the driver delted items from my cart, instead of substituting them. customer support sucks ! i was basically scammed out of my money due to an issue on there end. it doesn't state that in the promotion and I didn't give the driver permission to take anything off. Uber eats doesn't have enough drivers to cover a Sunday afternoon delivery; it's so bad that it allows no restaurants available for orders. When ordering uber black (and I'm assuming any other level of vehicle), the map never allows for accurate pickup location; instead of it being a streamlined convenient service, it requires me to constantly text or call the drivers to walk them through how to get to my home (despite it all being instructed within my uber app notes). On multiple occasions, the app has "failed" when adding my tips to drivers, which I'm certain has caused my uber rating to drop (despite me paying my tip after restarting the weakly programmed app). Not to mention that paying for uber one is a waste of money. This company is a wreck. I'm going back to using Favor for food deliveries, and back to Lyft for rides. Even more worrisome, is that instead of offering a customer service support line, Uber expects patrons to personally correct their maps and mistakes through a tedious process that takes a significant amount of time. I just did my last ride ever! it was one way over 36 miles which took over a hour one way bringing me way out of my area so a total of two hours for $21.80 so I went through $10 of that in fuel so I basically averaged for two hours of driving at $5 hourly! I have tried for over a month and the customer service has NOT been helpful, and there is NO number to talk to a real person. Ok I've seen the other reviews of Uber here on yelp and honestly the people that give this company kudo's must not be from here in Houston Texas or haven't used Uber services long enough to give a accurate judgement of this Company. I've been using Uber since they came out and have definitely had more bad experiences than good! Asked the driver can he turn it on his reply and action was to roll down the back two windows while saying "I'm hot"....I instantly pulled out my phone and recorded him having both back windows down. I thought that was pretty messed up but soon as we get to a red light I noticed he was giving me a firm stare down from the rear view mirror which made me ask him "what's the hard stare for?"he then said you are ignoring me...smh of course I am idiot! He then pointed to his phone saying you are being recorded and I said good that makes two of us he then started driving wreckless and unsafe before getting to my destination. I told him I'm reporting him and will show Uber the video as I'm exiting his vehicle. I put in a report then hours later I see an email from Uber saying the driver reported me drinking in his car and if I get reported for drinking alcohol again my account would be deactivated. I immediately responded back letting Uber know I'm diabetic and I was headed to work I don't drink period but from the driver actions I believe he may have though. Soon after I I went to deactivate my account and wasn't able to because they hit me with a bill 2 times what I already paid for the ride luckily I only put on that card the exact money for the trip . To sum all this up us passengers are only trying to get to our destination quickly and safely and should not have to deal with horrible contract drivers like this one. I wouldn't recommend anyone use this service at this point unless you are desperate for an unpleasant ride. Keep your phone recording from beginning to end and try another taxi service besides Uber is my best tip to all who read this. I had a teenager take a ride today. He left his expensive shoes in the vehicle. We have tried several ways to reach the driver and customer service. I want to take the time to rate uber, as a rider. I heard that drivers don't get pay well and that they get screwed when the interiors or the car are damaged. As a rider it's very convenient to take uber and tip your driver accordingly, if drivers give a great service, thanks to them we have a very convenient way of transportation. Is it too much to ask for drivers to be aware of their passenger's, specifically when kids are involved. Specifically, and this has happened multiple times, drivers playing songs with offensive language and curse words. The incorrect error was with your Uber system, not my inputted amount. I typed in a "2" and it pulled in the amount of the cost of the drive. I will contact my credit card company, and tell them to reverse the tip. Uber system error and doesn't run correctly. I will also file a complaint with Discover that your system and C/S are unwilling to correct the tip that your system erred on, and rate customer services across the board a consistently "1", zero if I was able to. On the app it said that I was picked up and heading to my destination. I have to contact customer service to fight for my money back. Also if you don't leave the recommended tip which I tip almost every time your food arrives late. My last order the restaurant was 15 minutes away it took them an hour and a half from my food to arrive. I have two different experiences with Uber, now my experience going to my appointment was cool. We chatted a little bit and it was curbside service. But upon my second ride home, my driver consistently stayed on social media while driving me home. Now how do you deal with that situation. Do you not tip him and leave him a bad report. Or do treat it as an isolated experience. My last couple of experiences riding with Uber has not been the best. It takes nothing but a split second to change someone else's life forever.
