This is really a review for the the Lone Star Cab staff. I was in Houston for a conference, and accidentally left my wallet in one of their cabs. Through a series of fortunate connections, but most importantly through dispatcher Chris early on a Sunday morning, I was able to track down the cab number based on the time of the ride and the fare. Chris was very pleasant and helpful as I called multiple times trying to reach the cab. Ultimately the management team at Lone Star, was able to connect with the driver, and get my wallet returned to me. I am sure most cab companies are the same, and probably only get reviews when someone is upset. In this case, the time, effort and care that Lone Star put into recovering my wallet, would indicate that they are a top notch outfit. Give them a call when you need a cab in Houston! read more

I know this company has had poor reviews, like EVERY Houston taxi service I've seen a review on. My experience was very good. My cab arrived within 15 minutes of my call. I actually set a timer assuming they'd be late, but no, they were on time. My driver spoke American English and we had a series of good conversations. The drive was 35 minutes, so a good versus a bad conversation was welcomed. I made it to my destination on time. The fare was in line with published rates, and I tipped a little over average because of the good service. When I need a cab again someday, I will call this company first. They are the first Taxi experience out of Houston that wasn't a pain in my ass to deal with, quite the opposite actually. They made my day easier. Just a heads up, whoever you use, Yellow Cab has never been a good company to me. F*** those guys. read more

I arrived at the Amtrak Station in Houston and there was a Lone Star Cab driver in the building. I asked how much it would cost to go to the MegaBus Station and was told $15. I had no idea what the distance was to my distillation. I said yes. I asked if he took credit cards and he said that $15 was the cash price. It cost him 5% to process a credit card so it would cost more. I said I would pay a $10 cash tip. He called in another cab. I was told to sit in the front. The ride took 5 minutes. The driver had another passenger in the back seat. When we got there the driver took my card and went to the back seat charged my card $25 and took the $10 tip. The cab company's internet site provides a fare estimator that shows the cost is about $6.49. This is a cooked company. I suggest any other cab company. read more

Cab #1943, the worst. We had the misfotune of being in this cab on the way from IAH to our home. It all started with the cabbie not helping with any bags, not even as our young daughters struggled with theirs. The driver then took the long way to our house despite our repeated instructions; he continued to ignore our directions until we insisted he take a particular exit and then he swerved across 3 lanes to catch it at the very last second. The cabbie blasted a religious station with obnoxious organ music so loud I couldn't hear my husband sitting right next to me. The radio fader was tuned so all this noise only played in the back, I guess so the driver could have some privacy while he talked with on his phone the entire ride. The driver could not or would not stop at the right house, stopping at 3 different houses which were obviously not the right address... milking the meter. When we finally arrived, the cabbie argued with my husband, saying that yes LSC took credit cards but insisted we pay cash anyway, because "it's better" (very suspect). Tired of this loser, my husband acquiesced, asked the cabbie if he had change, and was told yes. We looked down to find the meter had still been running the entire time we were stopped and now the fare was almost $5 more. And of course, the cabbie did NOT have the correct change, not even close despite the sticky, coffee-covered coins he handed us. He got away with it because we wanted him out of our sight at this point. Called Lone Star and the dispatcher didn't care, and didn't apologize. read more

I booked my ride through the Curb app, 12 hours in advance. I was booked for 5:00 am, giving them an hour to drive 18 miles and have me at my destination (work) by 6:00 am. 5:00 and I log in to see where my driver is and it says "fetching a ride." 5:15 still fetching my ride, so I call dispatch. Dispatch tells me we are still looking for a driver. 5:20 still fetching my ride. Call dispatch again and he says nobody is accepting the ride. I notify him I booked well in advance. Come to find out they do not start looking for a driver until 30 minutes prior to your pick up time. He says he will send out a message. 5:30 still looking for a ride. Call dispatch and ask if there is anything that they could do because now I am going to be late to work. Dispatch said no and hung up on me. Very rude! I call another cab company and someone was here quickly! I cancelled my booking at 6:30 am and there was still no driver. Never again will I book with this company and I will make sure my friends and family no longer do either. read more

I'm updating this review because I saw the owner and employees act from it. The owner messaged me on here right away offering me his services and a polite apology, and the cab driver contacted me to give me a fair price for the fare and apologize too. I will give this company another chance whenever I can. read more

Old Spanish road and greenbrair at 11:02 am. In the middle of a red light cab driver went from far right lane to the left turning lane. Then back to the right lane to cut front of everyone and ran a red light. Could have cause an accident. read more

Don't use this Lone Star Cab, because I did book in advance a day, and at 12 PM before 12:30 PM appointment time I called and reminded them, then at 12:42 PM they called me will have taxi about 15 to 20 minutes more. I missed my international flight. They explained there is no driver available, what is the point I booked one day ahead and 30 minutes remind in advance. I don't understand this company. Really...no good...my mother who is handicap in a wheelchair with mental issues was picked up around 1030am today ..after which we had police tell them do not pick her up after bad experience few months ago as she randomly trys to leave house did.. Had police call to inquire where she was dropped off..was told at first oh we don't have that info..wtf .so called police to call they were told well supervisor will call back..after few hrs they called with address.. Some random address 45 mins away..with all that said we filed police report had diff agencies looking for her....she finally turns up no where close to where they said....and this is just plain nonsense.. I called wanted to speak to supervisor was told oh they are gone only here fro. 9am till 5pm.. What kind of business is this..to be driving people around 24/7 and supers only there 9- 5.... Waited on an airport shuttle. After an hour of waiting, decided to take a cab. Asked a guy if they took cards I needed to get to an airport hotel that the shuttle wasn't coming. He said "nah, no man I ain't for that." I said "yes, I know I want to pay you to take me there, but all I have is a card." He said "nah man" and drove off as I stood on the curb wallet in hand. This company employs reckless, rude drivers. We were in traffic after the football game waiting in line to turn left when cab number 29 zoomed up from the right lane and forcible cut us off. He came within inches of our car that had my 3 young children in it. We honked at him and he then rolled down his window and gave us the bird. I called yesterday and booked a cab to go to Houston, Hobby Airport for this morning at 3:30 am, at 3:39 I called the dispatcher to see where is my ride and I was told we're trying to find you a cab!! We got out of an Astro's game, walked about 4 blocks And saw this cab sitting in front of the Westin with the "vacancy" sign on. The driver was sitting in the cab on the phone with his earphones in. My husband asked if he was available and he asked where we wanted to go. He told the guy we were going to the Holiday Inn Express which was about a $6 fare. He said he wouldn't take us. My husband offered $10 then $20 but the guy refused to take us. This cab company may be ok that that driver sucked big time and got his company a bad review. I have tried to honor tradition and have avoided Uber, when I can, and try to use taxi services, when convenient. Well, here's my story: I arrived at Hobby Airport in Houston and after getting my baggage, walked out to the cab stand and grabbed the 1st one. Nice cab, clean, friendly driver, who respected my space by not indulging in small talk. Which was perfect because I had calls to make after being away for a week. After arriving at my home, I jumped out with my bag, paid and tipped the driver, then was distracted as I saw my cat in the window, eagerly awaiting my entry into the house. It wasn't until 30 minutes later that I realized that I left my laptop bag, which contained my laptop, 2 iPads, headphones, chargers, etc. Because I paid cash and was not really paying attention, I had no idea what cab company I used. I got in my car and drove to Hobby to speak with the cab attendant who remembered me and the cab I got in. He was very helpful, and gave me the cab number and the phone number to their office. I called the office and spoke to the dispatcher, explained my situation and she stated that the driver had checked out, as I was his last passenger for the day. She did say that she would send him a message to call in as soon as he could. I called back three times, up until 10:30 pm and was told that he had not checked in, but to call back at 9am to speak with lost and found. At 9 am promptly, I called and and had to call back 3 times before I finally spoke to someone. I spoke to Yolanda, who after getting my story, put me on hold. Upon her return she informed me that the driver had not checked in yet and was probably still asleep, but she would leave him a message to call in. I called back on 3 different occasions and was told the same thing. At this point, I decided to go back to the airport and if I found nothing, I'd file a police report. Upon my arrival to the airport, the same young man was on duty at the cab stand and remembered me. He stated that the driver did in fact come back to the airport last night, and in fact had checked in for the day and was on the lot. He paged the driver and after a few minutes, the driver called him back. Unaware that there was a lost and found report, he asked the attendant what the item was and after describing the back to him, he reported that it slipped between the seats and he was in route with it. Glad to get my bag back, but totally upset that the cab company could not help me, but the airport attendant could. I called the cab company, LONE STAR CAB, asked to speak to a manager and RICK came on the phone. I explained to RICK what happened and how disappointed I was that after 24 hours, they could not locate their own driver, but the airport employee could. RICK's response...."I'm glad you got your belongings back, but you were the one who left it in the cab in the 1st place. Our people did the best they could". Wow!! This is why people use Uber and Lyfe. The cab driver did nothing wrong and I appreciate his service. However, the support team and the management of this company took no real ownership to help resolve this. If the airport attendant, who has no real stake in the matter, could find the driver, why could the company he works for not have found him? Simply, they did not give a damn. I will be going back to the airport and looking up the manager of the young cab attendant. He is what real customer service is all about. read more

Terrible Terrible- if you want to catch your flight in time never use them. I had booked a mini van and a normal taxi for taking 5 passengers and luggage to airport at 4 AM. We were going for a wedding. At 0405 when the cab wasn't there I called them and was told that there is no cab available. Can you believe that? Horrible. Will never use them again read more

My dad took a cab ride to my house and realized that he left his cell phone in the cab. Called the dispatcher and she located the driver in a few minutes. The driver dropped the phone off at their office, and JoAnn called me when she had it there. We picked it up later in the afternoon. JoAnn was VERY helpful !! read more

This is my first ever yelp review and I absolutely had to give Lone Star five stars. I was picked up from IAH at 3:15am just after the worst of the storms and flooding all over town by Jawaid, who was incredibly polite and most importantly careful for our entire ride back to Downtown. He navigated safely around flooding on I-10 and dropped me off at my apartment building as if there wasn't floodwater surrounding my block on 3 sides. I then promptly paid him and left my wallet in the back seat of his cab. I called dispatch the next day (about 3 hours before writing this review) and they identified the cab from my receipt and called Jawaid. Within 10 minutes I had a call back saying that Jawaid had my wallet and would arrange where to meet me. He then picked me up 30 minutes later (with my wallet exactly as I had left it) at a location I suggested and then drove me to Hobby to pick up the car I had stranded at a lot there. Being a cab driver and running a cab company is usually a pretty thankless situation I'd imagine, but I have to say that I will never forget the service I received from Lone Star and want to thank Jawaid and Lone Star's dispatch for their help and care. read more

Angry customer!! I booked my reservation with the company last night for pick up at my home between 5:15-5:30am pickup this morning. I confirmed with the representative "michael" and was informed that it wouldn't be a problem. I advised him that this was a business trip. Again he assured me not to worry. I received a call at 5:00am advising me that they didn't have anyone available. He stated that he would call in 15 minutes. I called several companies and nobody was available on such short notice. Little did Lone Star know is that I have infant twins home sick. The whole point of the cab reservation was to avoid having to wake them up and tote them to the airport. IF LONE STAR COULDN'T HAVE GUARANTEED THE RESERVATION WHY TAKE IT? Why call when you are supposed to pick me up in 15 minutes? I don't know what type of operating Lone Star is running however I will never use them again. Future traveller's DO NOT USE THEM!! You will be left disappointed. Ok - I rarely write reviews, but I appreciate comments posted by others. Needed a cab to shuttle me to the Medical Center early in the morning (6 AM). If you've reviewed the dismal comments on the major taxi services in Houston, well, you would drive yourself. Glad to say my experience with Lone Star was very good. About 20 minutes before the scheduled arrival time I received a recorded phone call confirming the taxi was on the way (the taxi actually arrived earlier and was quietly waiting outside. At the scheduled pick-up time the driver called my phone and politely notified me he was outside. The taxi was clean and the driver very polite and drove safely - direct to my destination. This is a horrible cab company and I gave them a second chance to redeem themselves. My first call was to pick me up from a commuter park and ride. The driver did not arrive as scheduled and was 30 minutes late. When he did arrive, he did not fully drive into the lot to where people were standing. Needless to say, I watched him pull out. The second time, I called a day in advance to request a 7: 00 am pick up. When the driver didn't arrive, I called and was told they couldn't find a driver to service my area. Completely unacceptable because I called a day in advance. Both instances I ended up using Uber. I no longer live in Blue Island, I live in Texas. read more

Do not trust them! I booked a cab on-line to take me to the airport. At the scheduled pickup time I called the dispatcher and he told me they were still trying to find a driver to respond and that he would call me when they had someone available. That does not really help. The airlines have zero sympathy when you tell them that your planned ride did not show up. read more
