I stopped buy to purchase stamps from the machine in or to mail out holiday cards. I was able to walk right in. Use the machine, place the stamps on the cards and drop the cards in the mailbox. Bada bing, bada boom. Quick and easy. read more

I am still writing because this is not getting better at this location. There is Still no change to the way business is handled. Still slow, Still only 2 windows open at time even on the most busiest of times of the day. Since my last review, this post office even changed their lobby hours due to people sleeping in the lobby area for the safety of the customers. Now how can this be if someone chose to have a PO Box here solely due to the lobby hours being 24 hours? Do the consumer get some of their money back and/or returned? It is ok because this is due to the safety of the consumer however, it is still an inconvenience to the consumer as well that the consumers should be alerted or stop advertising that the lobby is 24 hours when it is not. That is false advertisement. I have written other Maryland Offices about the location and is always turned back around to come to deal with this post office. I have even tried the Attorney Generals Ofc and Consumer Protection but again back to the post office, they make it so there is nothing or nobody that says or do anything here. I don't really have a need to go into the post office too often, but I've been to this one when the occasion arises. Came here today to mail something to a friend. Didn't realize they closed at 12pm on Saturday and arrived at 11:55am. As soon as I walked in they informed me the counter was closed and only self service was open. The reason I'm giving this place 5 stars is because big shout out to Kenny who helped a few of us. Despite being told the counter was closed, he helped us anyway and it was well after 12pm. Listen, I'm being completely honest when I say, this is the worst post office EVER! This is not a post office that you can quickly run in and out of. So I found myself scrambling to get last minute Christmas gifts off on Christmas Eve. The line was pretty long, but they were fully staffed & worked through it quickly. There was even someone out in the lobby helping customers before they made it to the front of the line. Under normal circumstances, I'd probably give them 4 stars, but today they went above and beyond. I bought my sister two canvas prints and I had been fighting with a box and bubble wrap for the last 1/2 hour. I finally gave up. I was not going to fit those prints into any boxes they had. I proceeded to the register to send off my other envelope. The rep that was assisting me asked, "what happened to your box?" (Clearly everyone in the post office had seen me struggling with the multiple boxes there...) I told him it won't fit. I'll have to send it later. He said, "hold on a sec..." A couple minutes later he comes from the back with a box that looked like it was tailor made to fit my gift!!! Wow. I was super excited. Not only that, it actually saved me a buck! Now my lil' sister's gift will only be 2 days late, instead of a week or so! read more

HORRIBLE! Today, the 11th of August 2023. They had one cashier with 10 people ahead of me. She was working with a customer who was mailing off 50 envelopes. You can hear other workers in the back. Where was the Supervisor/Manager to send someone out front? I stood in line for 20 minutes, when I decided to visit the Mitchelle Office in Bowie. By then the line grew more to 25 people waiting. Only in our neighborhood!!!! They have to do better or hire competent workers. read more

They instituted a ticketed (now serving" system) which isn't helping. We can do better than this! And is 1:02pm, when people may be trying to get things done at lunch. "The worst" Are postal offices still federal employees because they are the absolute worst regardless of the location you go to for service. They steal or loose your packages so BEWARE. We have been informed that several employees have been fired for stealing consumers packages. They have either stole or lost several of our family items we had delivered here with no valid explanation from the supervisor or manager or supervisor on duty. It's almost as if I could excuse the lack of just satisfactory service if it wasn't for the terrible attitudes everyone has here on the phone and in-person. No one is asking you to be happy go lucky but just a decent level of respect for people just coming in to have a service, that they pay for, delivered. 4/16/2020 Don't Go TO THIS POSTAL OFFICE, IF YOU DON'T LOOK AFRICAN AMERICAN or maybe, even a Person of Color, especially, while wearing a face cover! I encourage the leaders/managers of this facility to review your video recordings from 4/16/20. I went to the post office to mail things out to my family during this Pandemic/Social Distance/Distress time in our society. When I entered the post office, there was one customer at the window counter finishing up her transaction, while another female customer awaited her turn in front of me standing in line on the left side of the customer counters. Typically, the line is on the right side of the customers' counter, but because I noticed that there was only one other person in the building.. in line, I went and stood behind her. The postal worker called to assist this person, and while I was waiting for my turn, another person entered the post office and lined up on the right side of the customer counter where the lines are usually formed. When the postal worker called for the next customer, I went to her window, and instead of being greeted in a professional manner, she questioned me if I was next in line? I said yes, and she looked over to the other customer in line behind me, as of to get her approval first, and the the customer responded that I was first in line. It was unprofessional and humiliating that the postal worker was rude, questioning me, and she didn't question the person in line that had been in front of me and I had stood behind her in the same line on the left side. The worker said that she was passing on information to me that the line starts on the other side of the counter (left side). My concern wasn't her message, but how her message was presented and received. Her approach was rude, unprofessional and accusatory! I'm not sure what she's familiar with, but who or what adult would go into a post office, or anywhere, to cut one or any person in line, other than in error, especially, when it was empty at the time. I asked a male employee to speak with the manager, which I was able to and expressed my concerns. The manager listened, apologized and said that she would address the issue. As we were speaking, more customers had entered, when an older African American woman started yelling out to me that the postal worker was not rude but telling me where the line is. This woman was not there when I entered the Postal Office or next in line, but she felt the need to give her unnecessary input in yelling many things at/to me such as I'm lying....you all think that you can come in here and do what you want. I asked her what does that mean, and she insinuated that I knew what she meant! I then asked if she was being racist? She said if that's what I thought then......At this point, it made me realize that both of their behaviors toward me was because they did not see me as a person of their own race , culture or that I deserved respect. People are dying and are afraid during this time of the unknown Pandemic and Social Distancing. RACISM or any other negligent behavior is unacceptable! I completed my transaction with a male postal worker, and Now, I'm afraid of the retaliation by the workers with my package. I was guaranteed that my package would reach my family in three days ( by Saturday, 4/18), and if it doesn't, or anything brings harm to my family, the Postal Office and shift workers will be held accountable. Really sad and unexpected experience!! Those of us that are still employed, we should be grateful and not take it for granted because without the publics financial business and support, more jobs will be cut. read more

I have tried and tried to give this post office a chance. They have bumbled shipments of perishable goods for weddings that I worked hard on and acted so "as if" about each situation. I now take my items to other postal facilities to be mailed. But since we have no choice as to which post office our items get sent through and who our carriers are, this is where my tolerance draws the line. I ordered an item that i needed for travel and had it shipped priority express. I received a notice stating that "Your item arrived at the UPPER MARLBORO, MD 20774 post office at 2:07 pm on July 6, 2015 and is ready for pickup." So because they have horribly inconvenient hours 9-5, when most people are working, i leave work early to go and get my package, only to get there and they can't find it. So now i keep getting the gas face from some blatant broad that wants me to believe that my package is out on the truck for delivery. Ummm NO, because you said your drivers leave at 10 (so how did my 2PM package get on her truck??), this says that my package arrived at your post office at 2:04PM and at 2:07PM it is now ready for pickup. the location of the package even states that it is at the freaking post office!!! WTH So I leave the post office at 5:06PM, come home and wait for my postal carrier, only for her to tell me that she has nothing, but maybe one of the other carriers picked it up by accident and took it back to the post office at the end of her shift. WTF??!! Where is my package?? I despise the nonchalant attitudes of the people in this facility. No one says that they have to be the epitome of kindness but don't treat me as if i just fell out of the 3rd grade!!! You don't know what people are mailing or need to receive, but i guess they make so many mistakes that they now take each and every complaint with a grain of salt. There was a man in line with me that waited an HOUR for the manager to get off of a "conference call" to speak with her about his disgust with their service, and of course she came up (no uniform) with a nonchalant attitude and explanation to match. #DONE If i need something delivered I will do my best to have them ship it to me via UPS or fedex because this place is a freaking nightmare. The lines are ALWAYS long, and the wait even longer. The attitudes are horrible, the clerks are over worked and we the customer always get the tail end of everything. I want to give this post office a minus star. I have never encountered this type of unprofessionalism from a Post Office in the entire United States. I recently moved to the area and I have not been receiving all my mail, although, I filed a change of address with the post office from my previous residence and with all my creditors. I had a package that was delivered damaged. I contacted the business (where the package originated from) and notified them the package arrived damaged. They said they will send me a replacement immediately. After a week or two when I didn't receive the replacement, I notified them again, they said the package was delivered on May 27,2017 and sent me a confirmation. They ask that I locate my post office and inquire. I contacted my servicing post office, USPS Upper Marlboro. I visited in person, and was told by the supervisor there, she would need to locate the carrier to find out what happened to my package and that she will give me a call later that day. I did not receive a call from her that day, so I went back the next day. First of all, I had to wait at least 20 minutes for her to come to the window, and when she did, it wasn't because of me, it was another customer there waiting to be heard. When she saw me, she seemed caught off guard and said, (which I don't believe she even tried to locate the carrier) that she has not been able to locate the carrier and to give her a couple of days and she would give me a call. Well that was now, almost three weeks ago. I have not heard from her and still no package. Additionally, I'm still waiting on my mail. There is definitely a disconnect on this end. This is frustrating and ridiculous. The post office has been in business for decades. This is not new stuff. To top things off. A mail carrier was in my building on Saturday and two crates of mail was sitting on the floor in the mailroom unattended for an extended period of time. The mail carrier was no where in sight. It was unattended for so long that I tried to wait to see if the mail carrier would reappear, but she or he took so long, that I had to leave. That is not the first time I've noticed unattended mail. One day there were several crates of mail sitting outside the door of my building, unattended. I don't get it, is it the mail carriers responsibility to safe guard our mail? It's a wonder, I don't get any mail, because either someone is stealing it, or she's placing it in the wrong mail box, or it's just lost, go figure. Ok, I'm calling the authorities the next time I see unattended mail. I didn't have my phone on me the last time moving forward, I won't leave my apartment without it. I had no idea that the mail service was this horrible in Upper Marlboro, had I known I would have kept my previous address. Somebody needs to be held accountable for lost, missing or stolen mail. This is the SLOWEST post office I have EVER been to and they never cease to amaze me. I got here a few minutes before they opened and there was a line, which I expected. But with over 10 people already in line you would think that there would be more than 1 register open, but there wasn't. Only 1 register was open and the other young lady was mostly just straightening up and walking around occasionally asking other customers what they needed. All I have to say is be prepared to wait for probably at least 30 minutes. I have never been here and waited less time than that. And I thought I was doing something by picking up my priority envelope and certified mail receipt yesterday evening and filling it out. Come to find out I could have done it this morning while waiting in this "only one lane open" line. I should've went with my instincts and drove up the street to Kentland/Dodge Park instead. Had to file 2 police reports against this post office. I continually get my packages "lost" "unable to deliver" when I am home all day. I am a disabled vet and rely on post office to receive my medications. For the past 3 months my meds have been lost and had to call police to file a complaint. They are aware but do not seem to care. Not that anyone took any time to look for it but it's not in the place where they usually are. Even after they re-keyed the mailbox, they were unable to find the new keys.
