They called us at 7:30am the day before our move to tell us they had move our appointment to a different location that's further away. Next day comes and we go to that new location, just to be out in the cold waiting for customer service because they were CLOSED. No solutions were given to us, had to call customer service to get help. Worst timing, inconveniently terrible!!! Terrible communication. No way to contact corporate to give feedback. The U-Haul review link doesn't work U-haul cancelled my original appointment from a week earlier without notifying me, and rescheduled me at a different location without informing me until after the original appointment. No effort made to compensate me for an extra 260 miles of round-trip travel and an additional 4-1/2 hours of my time. Got charged the full estimate price for 1 hour and 50 minutes of labor, despite the fact that in took just under an hour to install. Took just under an hour because they did a terrible installation job and cut corners. The level of craftsmanship for the harness wiring is about what I would expect from high school freshmen left unsupervised in in a high school auto shop. I have no idea if I can trust the rest of the install and will likely need to take it elsewhere to get it checked/verified and the wiring re-installed. The backstory, if you're interested: My original appointment was scheduled for Friday May 3rd at noon with a different U-Haul location. I drove the 130 miles one-way to get there, and when I arrived I was told that my appointment had been changed to Saturday May the 11th at 9:15, at a different location. U-Haul NEVER informed me of this change prior to my originally scheduled install. I drove 130 miles back home. On May 6th, three days AFTER my originally scheduled appointment, I received my first notification to arrive at the West Spokane Location. I arrived at the West Spokane location an hour early and saw that a vehicle was being worked on. I chatted with the mechanic who indicated it would probably be a while and would probably take about 2 hours to install my hitch. I left the vehicle at the shop and was away for almost three hours. I assumed I would arrive and my vehicle would at least be in the shop with the hitch installation in progress or being wrapped up. I was surprised to see it still parked where I had left it three hours prior As I approached I saw that nothing was installed. When I went in I saw that the car that was being worked on when I arrived was still in the installation bay. Nobody bothered to call me to inform me that I was being delayed. When I expressed my frustration at not being called, I got a noncommittal response. When I asked how long my install would take the mechanic said anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours. At no point was I offered any discount for being cancelled, or for being delayed. 40 miles south of Spokane I stopped at a rest area, and as I was walking out of the pavillion I noticed wires dangling from the underside of my car. On closer inspection I found the power cable from my battery to my trailer plug had been pulled under the car and draped over the rear suspension. It was dangling with about 2" of clearance from the road. No effort was made to secure it to anything or to ensure that it wouldn't get pinched in any components. No wire loom, no shrink tubing on crimped connections, no effort at all. read more

Your company is terrible. I called the numbers for the this U Hauls store. I called many times and no one answered. I wanted to get some information about purchasing some boxes. Finally, on one call, it transferred me to call center. He said he would transfer me. I said I had called many times, and no one was answering. He said he would send a message and have someone call me. 5 hours later, no one called me, so I go in. 4 people in line ahead of me. After about half an hour later and they are still on the first person, a younger guy calls someone from the back to walk outside with someone renting a truck. If there is another person in the back, why isn't he helping customers? Obviously, customer service means nothing to your company! read more

I returned my rental an hour before the scheduled time. I didn't add the fuel, so I knew I would be charged for that. But I was charged over $400. I had been charged for an additional day and for missing equipment. The missing equipment was a dolly, that I had requested, but never received, and didn't end up needing, so I forgot about it. The extra day was charged even though the truck had been returned on time. I had to call to get it straightened out, but this should never have been a problem in the first place. It should be obvious that if the truck is scheduled to be returned after hours, verifying it is actually late would be a good idea, before charging the customer. Being charged for equipment I never got was also surprising. It makes it look like no one knows what is going on. Isn't an inventory kept, and isn't someone aware of what equipment is checked in and out at a given time. May I suggest a barcode system, where a dolly could be scanned on checkout and scanned on return. That technology has existed for quite a while. In summary this location seems to be a bit chaotic and the employees appear to be untrained. The professionalism is just not there. I also attempted to raise this complaint via online chat, but was cut off without warning when it took over three minutes to type out the complaint on my phone and to look up the address and paste it in, as well, per the agent's request. read more

I needed a pickup to haul away junk from a yard de-weeding project. Reserving the pickup online, I dropped off at the UHaul location, checked with the woman at the counter, signed documents, and got the keys to a clean new pickup. The pickup, with strong acceleration, was easy to load, drive, and manuever. Once finished, the drop off was a quick checklist, and done. I'd rent from U-Haul again. read more

Omg Uhaul is the WORST company I have every worked with! Worst customer service in the world and they would rather put a snake up their a*s than give you a refund for a storage unit that was on the second floor of a building with no elevator and they refrained to tell you that information. They also neglected to tell me that the access to the storage unit was not 24 hours and told me I had to leave when I had already paid for it because they were closing. And then they try and screw your over on bogus charges, and when you refuse to pay them, they threaten to put a freeze lock on your storage unit so you can't access it until you pay them their ridiculous charges. Because I had to keep the truck another day because they would not let me unload It into my storage unit, they told me that they had someone coming for the truck and threatened me if I did not return it by this time, they were going to have to pay that customer a $50 guarantee fee and that "it was coming out of MY pocket"! Bunch of jerks that work here and have absolutely no concept of how to treat paying customers. I waited in line in the store to return my truck for 45 minutes while the two agents were talking to each other about unrelated matters. read more

I've had to move 3 times this summer. I've gone to this uhaul each time and been impressed by their service every time! They didn't necessarily remember me- but I remembered them. I tried to make a booking through my phone before I gave up. Went to the computer--gave up. Called and booked a truck then showed up at the allotted time (9 AM) and place to find there was no attendant only a lock-box. Went back on my phone and saw my reserved time had been see to 12 PM-- gave up--called again to have them change the time (it is now 10:30). Tried to go back in then realized the "no attendant " had a speaker box-- who then informed me I was at the wrong location (different that my first called in reservation). By 11AM I was talking to a real person at the correct location. This was not an experience I would wish to repeat and will consider other alternatives next time I need a rental. Once I reached my person they were competent and helpful (to him, alone, I'd give 5 stars). read more

I called to make a reservation to get a trailer wiring harness installed. The main Arizona office said they could get me in right away, so I drove down there. When I announced I had an appointment to get it done the guy told me they couldn't do it. Obviously confused, I asked again - stating I had just called to make the appointment. He just said again- they could t do it. Try again another day. I called the Corp office back who then gave me the phone number of the local manager. When I called her she said that they couldn't do it today because they were short staffed. She said she didn't know why Corp office had booked me, because she had blocked it out. Obviously someone screwed up (my guess is the local office) and they weren't taking responsibility to screwing up my day read more

I have used UHAUL many times over the years without any issues. Last month my kids and I were displaced unexpectedly. My boyfriend called UHAUL to reserve a truck for me to ensure one would be available when I got to this location. When we arrived I explained my situation. Clearly the representative was not paying attention because he started the rental in my boyfriend's name instead of mine. Due to an issue several years ago long before I met him he was told he couldn't rent the truck. I told him again the truck was for me and I was renting it in my name. I was able to rent a truck without a problem. Fast forward a month. I reserved a truck online. When I went in to pick up the truck I was told I had to call the E Department as there was an issue with my account. I was completely confused. Not only was a representative rude to me the person I got on the phone named James was equally rude. He told me because I rented the U-Haul for my boyfriend but I was not able to rent until his past due balance was paid. I explained the entire situation that he had called to reserve the truck on my behalf to ensure there was one there for me when I got there. I also told him I could prove with my lease and other documents that the truck was for me and my children not for him. He didn't seem to care and refuse to send me to a manager. I have called several times since and no representative could get me to the appropriate person. I used the chat version on their website and I have also emailed them with no resolution. It is unlawful to assign someone else's debt to another person that has nothing to do with the situation. Beware I would never rent from U-Haul again. read more

Very misleading and uninformed staff. We walked in to see about a pick up truck or utility van rental. A woman approached who seemed very busy. She was helping a customer, looked at us and said "you looking for something w/ an engine?!?" We said yes and before we could describe what we were looking for, she instructed that they had NOTHING. She then proceeded to inform us that no U-Haul in the Spokane area had anything available for the morning or afternoon and to try back in the evening or following day. Before we could respond she walked away. Not completely giving up we went online. We were possibly going to look for the following day, but as we typed in what we were interested in renting the midtown store showed they had a pick up available for right then. We reserved and went to pick it up. We are now going about our initial plan and no thanks to the North Division U-Haul. If you're looking to detour customers you're succeeding. read more

I made a 7:00 appointment to have my wiring repaired/replaced (2nd time). When I arrived they said they would look at it but that someone else had made an appointment 2 weeks before I had. WOW! So basically they double booked. He said the other appointment was "really important". It was the craziest way of doing business I have seen. I could go on..... The worst!! Bob the manager was very condescending never did give me a right hitch. We ended up dragging our trailer across the pass in Montana only a couple inches off the ground. Only after the third hitch, (two of which they had to replace because they were both wrong before we even left Spokane) when we got to a reputable dealer in Montana did we feel safe and my nice Mitsubishi four by four started feeling correctly instead of dragging and getting one half of the gas mileage that it did after the correct hitch was put on it!! The reputable dealer who helped us out in Montana could not believe that they put the hitch on like it was and that we made it through the passes. They are the worst, they either don't have the experience they need or they just don't give a damn!! If I had the money I would be going to an attorney, it was the most stressful drive I've ever had. Dragging my trailer which was sitting lower than 4 inches under roofline of my truck because of the wrong kind of hitch and then when I took it back after the first hitch because it was dragging on the ground they continued to put another wrong one on it. So unprofessional they could have killed me and my father because of the way it was dragging, and it put unbelievable stress on my poor transmission. Don't use them they should have their franchise taken away!! read more

Picked up a 26' truck for a two day rental. Moved more than we originally thought on the first day so am returning. I have to say the employees were very friendly and helpful, the truck was clean. The biggest impression though was that this was the cleanest, well stocked location I've been to. They greeted customers as they came in, even when busy with another customer. I had a confirmed reservation to pick up a trailer at 7am. I was there at 7am along with other customers. The door was locked. We asked the employees who were working with trailers when it opened and we were told that the manager was the only one who can open up and he had to run to the bank. We waited a while and I called the 800 number and they did not know why it wasn't open. I then talked to the regional office who was able to call the manager and they said he had a tire blowout but was on his way. At 7:45 an employee gave me the managers cell phone number and he said he was 5 minutes away. 10 minutes later he showed up. Funny thing is that all the wheels and tires on his car matched. I think he just slept in. Apologies do not make up for lost time and money spent on people standing around while waiting for a truck or trailer. It will take a lot for me to return to this location. read more

We had a reservation for a 10 foot truck to move our daughter's apartment but they called and said we only have a 14 foot truck - same price. But then they called and said it was booked too. Apparently their policy is first come first served, even if you have a reservation. I would avoid U-Haul. Budget rental is actually cheaper. read more
