Actually came here because the U-Haul place near me (where I normally buy propane) told me he was too busy and I should go there. So I did. This place is the BOMB! The place is way bigger. They have more employees. The service was SPEEDY. There is a button to press for Propane service. It seemed like I pressed it and before I let go dude was walking out the door to assist. They sent, I kid you not, twelve letters to a former resident at my address, all postmarked the same day. When I asked them to stop, the guy said, basically, that they had to send them because they weren't getting a reply (and yeah, no shit, he doesn't live here). He then transferred me to U-Haul's general customer service, which couldn't do anything because they needed to speak to these people (who stopped picking up their phones for like an hour to avoid us). These people are absolute clowns, and I will avoid U-Haul in the future. read more

I ordered a receiver hitch here ($197 for receiver + $90 for 1hr labor) but a day after making the order I received a call stating that they were backordered for 4 - 5 weeks at minimum on the hitch, since they had no definitive date I cancelled my order. I asked if I was able to secure the part would they still be able to install it, the answer was yes and so that's exactly what I did. I finally get the part in, schedule the install, and when I arrived at the location, they wanted to charge me $270 in labor to install it. I was appalled, I asked "it was only 1 hr worth of labor when I bought the part from you (but you couldn't fulfill the order) but it jumped up to 3 hrs when I source my own part?" The front desk staff just shrugged their shoulders, I waited over 25 minutes for the manager who kept saying he was going to come out but never did. I went to U-Haul in Whittier and was taken care of by Sebastian and David who totally understood that the hitches were on back order and did the install for the $90.00 flat. Unprofessional from the start u haul had me waiting for 2 hours to get the keys to the truck then once I received the keys and inspected the vehicle there was a pile of garbage left in the truck with flies and ants surrounding it. I then called the company u haul and was told they did not have any more vehicles in inventory.I planned on getting on the road that night after getting the U-Haul but couldn't because the head light didn't work so we had to get on the road the next morning . While driving to Arizona from California when I turned on the air conditioning it started to smoke so I had to turn it off and drive all the way to Arizona with no air conditioning then when I called management they were no help they made it seem like all I wanted was money. That was stated to me. I have never. I never had to stop four time for gas going to Arizona. I turn the truck in early due to vehicle smoking even when I was not finish with it. I called the location in which I picked the vehicle up from and corporate stating my concerns with both and all I was told was deal with it. This is so unprofessional I have never. take it from me find some other was to move don't use U-Haul worse service ever they don't care. And by the way I have coins thank you. read more

Picked up a truck. Told it would start at empty. Went to fill up the gas tank and the gas was pouring out on the bottom. We had to call roadside assistance. We were told that somebody would be out here. We are still here at the gas station and have been here for six hours and there has been no assistance. A mechanic came by and said that there could be nothing done. We drove to the Paramount office to notify them of what was going on and made a complaint, but still we were told that they have an ongoing issue of people stealing their gas every night by putting a hole in the gas tank and stealing the gas. They did not check if the truck was in good working condition and gave it onto us. We are dealing with a safety issue here as they are aware that there has been people stealing from their location, but yet they still give us a truck with, a hole in the gas tank. We were asked to drive it back to the location which we refused as we are unsure if the truck is safe to drive or not as there is literally gas pouring on the bottom. We told the company that we will not touch it and we have been waiting out here for a tow truck which has still not arrived. They have not refunded any money and we do not know if they will. We told the worker Trevor that we will be making a formal complaint and writing a letter to corporate office along with making a complaint to BBB another worker came out and said that they would love that because they have been having this issue, and the company does not do anything about it. The Worker Trevor said that just a few days ago, another person brought the truck back with gas leaking on the bottom. They say that nobody listens to them and there continues to be issues surrounding this problem. This company has poor customer service and lack accountability. Please if you are getting a truck, ask questions and follow up regarding the gas tank to make sure there is no hole so you are not in the same situation. read more

We were getting a trailer with the uhaul and one told us " yeah it's pretty easy" " go on YouTube to see a video" Those were the only two sentences he said about the trailer unhooking. Rented a pick-up truck based on the on-line ad, which is also advertised in their store. Misleading advertisement and deceptive pricing. Pic/ad shows a cargo van and a pick-up truck which shows $19.95/day. After renting truck for two weeks, he was billed in advance for a weekly rate of $355 plus another $20/day for insurance, $5 environmental fee and sales tax at 10.25% bringing the total to over $1,000. They were suppose to calculate the best rate upon end of rental...which we still thought was $19.95/day +any miles over 100 miles/day). Total rental came to over $1400, which was billed at the $355/wk + $89/day rate (for 3 additional days), plus all the hidden fees/costs. Now, to top it off, a jacket and sweat pants slipped off seat back, and was forgotten in truck. Once we realized it, they were already closed so I returned to pick up the next day only to find the jacket was thrown in the trash and the sweat pants were hanging on the post. The one shining light was the young man that tracked both items down, and even dug through the trash to retrieve the jacket. Now, I don't understand why they wouldn't have a Lost & Found box for people that inadvertently leave an item in their rentals??? If I hadn't gotten back the next day they would have been long gone. Ridiculous!!! Suggestion to UHaul, revise your deceptive advertising practices (see add pic attached) and train people properly, including Customer Service!!! Won't be using UHaul again! State your all inclusive prices and don't hide costs!!!! read more

A little peeved. The price is $20. But then it shoots up quick with $8 for 7 miles. It feels like the pricing structure for U-Haul nickel and dimes you. It also wasn't great that the gas was low from the start (because they didn't fill the tank to the appropriate level) and I had to add gas (that was $6). Overall with gas and miles it was into the $30's. Plus, they try to get you to purchase more and more, be it a damage coverage, or equipment, etc. The lady wasn't that helpful. read more

I called a week and a half prior to my pick up date for a quote. Over the phone I was quoted one price, but when I walked in and was helped by the employee, I was told about 200$ more. Of course the email reservation doesn't provide you with a dollar quote just a confirmation number that only a U-Haul representative can look up and tell you the price. Anyways I called the 800# that booked me and got a rude girl claiming to be a supervisor but was not helpful one bit with her tone. I asked if she could pull up the recorded call and she said yes we can do that, I said "okay thank you" she said okay I will submit your request, and then hangs up on me. Meanwhile, Roberto the regional manager was hearing and seeing my struggle and honored a better price than what I was quoted. I'm giving the location 5 stars but the 800# girl negative review. I wish I had remembered the name of the 800# girl that stated she was a supervisor, I asked to speak with a different supervisor and she said "no" but In a tone that made me feel belittled, the phone call took place on 1/23/2019 around between 4pm-5pm. I really wasn't expecting my experience to be so easy. I had to wait a tad to pick up my reservation, but that's just because the people in front of me being helped were asking a ton of questions. Once it was my turn, I got my key and was on my way in no time! Dropping off was even easier. As I pulled up, an employee came out, check the fuel levels and mileage, had me sign something, and that was it. I received the invoice on my e-mail within about 3-5 minutes. The one star is what I call an "unnecessary evil", done just so I can write a review. Because if I can give them a negative review, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Had a scheduled pick up time for my truck at 0500 today. Got there on time, only to be failed miserably by this location. Add a customer service call who kept telling us "I was not involved in your reservation", aka corporate washing their hands of any wrong doing. Btw, she was very quick to throw this location under the bus. Way to go! She then proceeded to tell us that we had to wait for them to open so we can pick up the truck, despite being told that we had confirmation with our reservation that pick up was at 0500. We had no choice but to wait, delaying all we had planned out for moving day. Which, if you've ever had to love, it's a stressful situation on its own. Currently, the clock still is ticking to when we get to pick up this truck. It is now 0711. Waste of time! Don't trust this location. Customer service is not priority apparently. read more

We had a great and easy experience with the guy at the counter on a short notice rental. Checked us out ASAP. Simple to return after hours but watch lot for nails and screws in the back. I drove up to this location yesterday and asked for an estimate to have a Class III hitch installed on my truck. After the inquiry, I asked how long it would take to have the hitch installed and was told the installation would take less than one hour. With that agreement, I made an appointment to have a hitch installed for today at 1000. So being the punctual person I am, I decided to drop the truck off half an hour early, but when I got to U-Haul, I wasn't seen for about five minutes because there was only one person working (Alex, manager). As I got to the counter, I asked Alex how long it would take (installation). He assured me the truck would be ready before noon. I explained to him I was advised the installation would take no more than one hour and my appointment was for 1000. Again, he explained to me he was currently working on a car's hitch but would get to my truck as soon as possible. With that notion, I wondered what good an appointment is if the business cannot take responsibility or accountability for it. I dropped off my truck at 0940. And approximately 1130, I passed by the location and saw my truck was at the same parking stall I dropped it off almost two hours ago. I walked back in and spoke with Alex. I told him my frustration and his reaction was almost childish. He shrugged his shoulders and did not have an answer. After speaking with him for almost a couple of minutes, he told me (again) the truck would be ready by 2PM (that was the time I told him I needed the truck by). With almost a loss for words, I just shook my head in frustration and left. So here's the good news, about 1215, I got a call saying my truck was ready for pick up. I high tailed to the place, paid the amount and left. What's somewhat lacking was the responsibility and accountability of the location. I was not given a verbal apology from Alex, their manager. This is somewhat discouraging because Alex was the designated person in charge of the business. And without common business practice, I cannot imagine how other customers are being treated. In any case, my truck has a brand new hitch. I just hope Alex didn't (on purpose) leave out a screw or something because I complained to him my opinion. Take heed and make note of my review. I made an appointment with your Long Beach Branch on Paramount Blvd. I called in on 7/29 and was placed on hold for over an hour. A lady named Amanda assisted me with reservation for an installation of a tow hitch. She advised if I pay an additional $73.25 on top of the $384 that i can have my hitch installed on 8/4. She set my appointment and my credit card was charged. Well, today is 8/4 and my husband shows up for the appointment and no hitch. This is so unprofessional that no one would call me and advise me that they are unable to complete this service. Time was taken off work. If I could give them 0 stars I would have! I will NEVER EVER use this locations services ever again. The General Manager gets more stars than the location foes because he was helpful when I returned my 10 ft truck that I rented for 20 minutes. I initially made a reservation for my 10 ft truck and a dolly and was told when I arrived that there were no dollies on site and that I would have to go around the corner to the other location to pick one up because they had some in stock. (Fine, no problem). Only, when I got there....they had none and said that we were the 6th customers to be sent to that location to pick up dollies that they didn't have. When I returned to the initial location to ask for a bigger truck 14 ft where the dolly is already included, they said they had none and they could just refund my purchase and call it a day. None of this would have been an issue in in the beginning I would have been told that the truck I was renting didn't even have a RAMP for one. And the customer service of the woman who helped us....no help at all. Just horrible. read more

Watch your dollies. Checked in and checked out relatively quickly. Upon returning had my truck sitting there for 15 minutes. Came back out and the attendant immediately opened the back door and asked "didn't you have a dolly?" The dolly was gone. And got the insinuation that it was stolen. Good thing for us we had people watching it and identified a U-Haul employee who had gone to the back and taking it out. No absolute proof but really got the feeling they were trying to gooze us for a dolly. read more

If you need help, have a special moving situation....this is the guy to talk to. When he was moved from bellflower location to long beach, I moved as well. NOW i have storage with them..his employees are great examples of well trained staff. Scott is another worker there who stands out with a great attitude and willingness to help. Saul the Assistant Manage did unwilling to assist customers, unprofessional and shouldn't be in a position where it involved customer facing. I originally scheduled a drop off in Inglewood and pick up in Fontana and called the scheduling department beforehand to change droop location to Long Beacg. Was advised by scheduling department I would be issued for a refund for the difference and when I got there i was given such a hard time by the Assistant Manager Saul and spent countless hours trying to get this resolved. I called The General Manager and left a voicemail expressing my discontent and Saul called me personally stating he would give the credit to my account since I never made it to Fontana. When i threatened to call my financial institution to dispute the charge for my refund Saul said his Manager said he refused and I would have to call Corporate. The General Manager didn't have the decent to call me himself and relayed the message through Saul. I feel that I wasted a whole day attempting to get help from customer service and scheduling department and the people I spoke to were extremely unprofessional. Specifically Susan Guerrero and David Adame who told me I couldn't get the regional managers number and David who originally promised the discount. I'm deeply disappointed in Uhaul read more

My biggest mistake was leaving this storage facility for something closer to my actual home - and boy, was that a disaster. This location is truly troublesome. We rented a 26' Truck and the truck was given to us already turned on. We drove off and 10 minutes into our drive the truck starts shaking horribly. After we park it, it doesn't want to start! We were on a very limited time schedule and proceeded to finish our task driving very carefully and praying that the truck did not turn off on us. I will also mention that when we ordered the truck, we asked if we could drop it off at another location since we were driving far. We later learned that it is UHAUL policy to provide options; none were given to us, we were simply told no and that we had to return the truck back at the location. The return trip alone cost us almost $40. I will also spare discussing the professionalism of the staff there. Once our use of the truck was over, we proceeded to call Customer Service to report our experience. We have called twice and twice we were told that someone from that location, the manager, would call us. To date, we have received no such call. Our first call was made almost 3 weeks ago! I am truly saddened that it seems that this U-Haul simply does not appear to have a customer oriented mission and I would approach this particular location cautiously. read more

First off I got ripped off! My rental agreement stated I had 75092 miles on the truck, but I only drove from long Beach to Diamond bar ca roundtrip and was charge for mileage of 75237 miles after putting the keys in the over night drop box. I was charged an additional $100 dollars for these mystery miles. They probably use the truck that mornings and blame the mileage on me. There should be another truck rental company we can go too. read more

Stay away from this place. First they quoted us $107 and I asked to make sure this wasn't going to change based on mileage but when we got there they said it'd be $127. I was in a hurry and it was moving day so I agreed. In the parking lot, while we were pulling out one of the employees was backing another uhaul out. He didn't bother to check for us and kept backing up even after we honked. We had to speed up a big truck that isn't meant to speed up in order for him to miss us. I jumped out of the truck and the guy got out of the uhaul asking "did we just graze" I told him that we did not and explained to him that we had to speed up in order for him to miss us and that he should look behind him and be careful when backing up. He decided he'd try and blame it on us. His name was Scott by the way. Later I decided to call the manager to let him know what happened but I was only able to speak to Nancy in customer service. She was very kind. Anyway, she said she'd forward my complaint to the manager and he should follow up with me in a few days. The manager was also supposed to follow up with me because I brought the truck back with 3/4 of a tank when I was supposed to bring it back with 1/4 tank and I was hoping I could get a gas credit. It's now been 3 weeks and I have not heard anything from the manager. Not to mention, our final bill was $167 and when I called and asked why all I was told was that it was because of mileage. When I tried getting a hold of the manager they said he wasn't available. I had the worst experience with them and thanks to this branch I will NEVER hire uhaul again. I'd rather go with enterprise or anyone else. Stay away from these dishonest, reckless people. read more

U-Haul of Long Beach was the final destination for belongings after I moved across the country from Chicago. I used the u-box storage/moving option, which was a horrible decision. It's nearly 2 months after my move, and I am just now receiving my insurance claim money. After having horrible customer service issues both from the Chicago location and from corporate, I had pretty low expectations. When I came to verify the boxes were ready for my movers, there was an older man ahead of me. After he was taken care of, the jerk behind the counter started making fun of the customer for checking for scratches on his trailer...nothing says "classy" quite like ripping on a senior citizen. The next day I came back to return the blankets that were included in the u-box and I asked for a receipt. A different guy behind the counter didn't understand the basic concept of why someone would want a receipt, but I insisted, so he tried to look for one. I explained to him that I had already spent about an hour going through all my emails and u-haul account online and couldn't find one. About 15 minutes later he told me he couldn't find anything either, and just shrugged it off. I asked him to print up his current screen (since it at least showed the total I paid) and he only gave me half of the document. The workers here took a crappy situation and only added to my headache. I would never recommend anyone use u-box or this particular u-haul location for any future moves. read more
