This location has no business filling propane. The staff does not know what they're doing. They sit on their phones most of the time while filling. Today, three of my tanks were not closed and were spitting propane out of the end. We are unable to close them or get the leaking to stop. And of course, this is extremely dangerous so we are unable to return the propane to Uhaul to find a solution. Thank heavens, no cigarette butts went flying out of somebody's window otherwise myself and whoever around me would've been blown up. Considering the amount of propane we had in the truck me This is extremely unsafe. I'm not sure if every single staff member is certified. But either way they need to be retrained. read more

Unbelievable... ZERO stars if I could give 0 stars. I reserved my truck 1 week prior. The location overbooked all their equipment, right when I arrived they canceled my reservation. So all the things that we already packed has no place to go. We have no where to sleep, all the preparations we made cannot be done today. So the result? Redid a reservation for the next day with a bigger truck that will not fit in our streets for 10 bucks off! What a joke. Online chat basically said they cannot do anything and give me the contact information of yhe scheduling manager. We'll the scheduling manager overbooked everything to begin with. That is not managing your assets correctly. They were no help. We did get a rental on Sunday however being that they close at 5pm on Sunday we had to rush as on a Saturday you get until 7pm to return. So basically we were kicked in the rear for Saturday and Sunday. read more

I had no problem with the customer service, however I did have a problem with what was perceived as an online book price vs actual price. I warn you that there is a mileage charge plus gas fee. While it may say (plus 0.99) per mile, you don't really see that until after, and that amount will double what you perceive to be a good price booking online. Attach below is what I initially booked vs my ending cost. Btw, my trip was around 19 miles total, gas about $12.50. My cost was $40 at booking and ended up $81.00. and I returned 2 hours early. Customer service could use improvement. Sunday afternoon with one person in the store, I was looking for boxes and the one guy working told me he needed to step out and that he'd be back in a minute. 5 to 10 minutes later, he returned however someone else had come into the store while I was waiting and proceeded up to the counter when the worker came back and sat down at the computer. The person working did not thank me for waiting nor did he acknowledge the new customer. It wasn't until I expressed mild frustration with a lack of customer service by sighing. Passive aggressive? Perhaps a little,! but the gentleman who was also waiting for help acknowledged me and that I was there before him and allow me to proceed to the counter ahead of him. I was overcharged for a trailer that I returned. I called the Hayward branch and got rerouted to U-Haul's call center. Their solution was to call the Hayward branch and which the call center did multiple times but no answer from Hayward branch. Call center is useless as well and did not have a way to remediate it. Finally got around to leaving this review but this is from a few months back. My gf's brother made a reservation for a Sunday morning pickup. 'Great', I figured we'd get the truck and get a early jump on his moving. Wrong! The line was literally out the door. There was zero benefits of pre "reserving" a truck. We stood in line for almost an hour. It was unexpected to wait that long so you can imagine it completely threw our day off. The older guy that helped us did the transaction just fine, but you can totally tell he did not want to be there. I mean, I probably wouldn't be too happy working a busy Sunday morning either; but hey, you signed up for this job. At least fake not being miserable. If you plan on coming here, book out at least 30-45 min of wait time before you can even talk to anyone. read more

I used Uhaul for a moving job my attentions was to use the truck for 6hrs but it took 10hrs to complete the job. I knew I had to cross the bay bridge so I brought my FastTrack with me unknown to my knowledge I didn't notify them before hand. I return the truck and a few day's later I got email indicating my credit will be billed for the infraction. So I contact both Uhaul and FastTrack explained myself and was able to work it out and pay the ticket. My point is that Uhaul Customer Service was very helpful and Uhaul company was very honest and helpful. My opinion is that ALL companies should take a few pages out of Uhauls book on helping the customer they did exactly what they said they would do in a timely manner to resolve this matter for me. This place is absolutely not worth your time. The first issue was picking up the car I paid for extra Dollys and Furniture movers and they were no where to be found (I never got that money back), the back of the truck wouldnt open because no one knew the code to the backdoor lock. We sat on hold for 45 Minutes because no one could figure out what it was after about an hour the man assisting us from the gas station got a hold of the previous user. We finally got the truck up and going everything goes ok. I paid in full when picking up the truck I'm not complaining about the price its very reasonable (minus the money I lost from the equipment they "had" in the truck) the issue comes closer when we were gonna drop off the truck. Before dropping off the truck we refulled it so we wouldnt have to deal with them anymore, when we arrived at the hayward U-Haul facility we tried to use their scanner for an "Online Dropoff" which didnt work. So for another good 20-30 minutes we go back and fourth with the operater they tell us everything is fine and they did it manually and I shouldn't be charged for another day this was in august 2nd. 6 WEEKS LATER I have no invoice no Reciept and my card gets charged for $166.00 for a u-haul service I didn't even know about. U-haul refused to refund me after having no explination as to why they charged my card. They explained I signed an aggreement for paying this charge, the reciept they sent me was for $198.68. Yet they charged me $166.00 and told me it was the same invoice. After being on the phone with them for around an hour being transferred being on hold etc. They tell me they wont give my money back because it is what they're owed, they told me they can deduct $55.00 from the $166.00 for the day late fee. I was absoultly furious I didn't even save my card to the website they illegally used my card without my knowledge from a 1 time charge I did. I tried filing a dispute they refused, so I filed a fruadulent claim. My bank refunded me after a week or two, I messaged U-Haul with all the evidence of me paying all of there fees and they still will not stop harassing me. The emails and text keep coming. They keep trying to charge my card that doesn't even exist anymore and U-Haul keeps trying to use it. I will not be paying people that are trying to get a little extra on the side. My review is soley for the location, I rented a truck over a month ago and just getting the chance to leave this review. Before actually scheduling a truck I called the location where a woman was friendly and answered my questions. Booking: spoke to some central HQ call center type number where they helped me book a truck. The way set up a pick-up and drop off is a bit odd in how they calculate hours, but i guess that's how they make money off of people. I was set to pick up at 4p and was given a 12h rental, meaning they were expecting me to have it back at 4a. We all know nobody is there to receive it and they ask that you put the key in a drop-box. Pickup was super easy and the guys at the location were helpful. They even showed empathy for the 4a drop off and let me know they understand and went as far as saying its ok if I was a little late because there is a tiny cushion of time. While UHaul prices are a bit ridiculous, the people I dealt with at the location were cool. read more

This is the WORST customer service place. And silly me for not reading yelp before coming here! If I did I would not. I used this place 14 years ago and boy have things changed. Clearly!! I come into rent a dolly truck. The customer service rep whose picture is attached, is going back and forth at it with another lady. The lady leaves and it's my turn. I ask very nicely about if there is a dolly to rent. She asked me what type, I show her a picture from their web page. She says she DOESN'T THINK she has any. That I could go outside and see if I want an appliance dolly. Meanwhile she begins helping someone else without making sure I'm taken care of. I come outside, there is no dolly in my visible view. So I ask her again, I'm not seeing a dolly. This is when she becomes snarky and says it's out there in a moody dismissive voice. I immediately understood why the previous lady was bothered. So I said uuum wait a minute I need you to come and show it to me because I cannot see it. She comes out. She can barely see what she was telling me was outside. Then when I said how was I supposed to see that, she told me she doesn't care and close the door on me saying bye and changes it to say she has NO DOLLY available. Yeah including the one she showed me. I comes Mayra. What a BREATH OF FRESH AIR! She politely asked me what I needed. Went in to the system to show me options, went in their storage area to bring me a dolly (separate from the one the lazy lady told me about) Now when I see this, I called her a liar. I told her she transferred her anger from the First Lady to me, even though I started out politely. She told me to get the eff out of there and called me the b word! Like literally sent me to a rage. How do you call a customer who hasn't damn near darn what the other lady was doing! She refused to give her bane. But attached is her picture. So I can't complain about the product. The vans and trucks are great! Was thinking of buying a 40k truck but I'd rather not. Just rent one of these things and get my homedopt runs in and move stuff from storage and or big purchases. Only thing that I worry about is a guy that works there. I think he's a manager. He is super rude and I feel like he's racist toward white people. He's been nice to me everytime so it's hard to write this. I don't come very often but, every time I did he pisses off a customer by the way he talks and brings himself when helping customers. I was in customer service for 4 years of my earlier life. Customers are essential for every business, if I treated a customer remotely the way he does I would be fired on the spot. If he's a manager he shouldn't be. Maybe he or other people working with him don't realize, but he is creating a very hostile work environment and also a very hostile environment for customers. Sometimes my wife drops me off and we have our 4 year old with us so it's a bit nerve racking. You never know what a crazy customer would do when treated the wrong way. Said ok give me the least mileage. And he gave me a freakin 180k mileage and the other 1 have 140k. What the heck is wrong with him. At payment i tried to use the company card to pay. He said it has to be my card not the company card. If i rented a truck and pick it up late at night and using the company card i could have get it. I got a auto trailer and Customer service named isabella had told me she had "10 stitches and if I could help her move the trailer and lock it in." I didn't have problem to helped her but that's not my duty and she have her coworker. I asked her if she ask her co worker and she lied saying "YES, but I don't know why he ain't helping me". Drive in morning commute traffic to get here. They didn't finish until the end of the day and apologized for getting backed up. I needed propane and tried calling in advance a few times to make sure they were still providing it - but no answer. I decided to roll out there, waiting in line with no workers in the shop. My edits: I don't know where to begin. This was a horrific experience. I had an appointment for 12:15pm to have a hitch installed. I arrived at 11:45am. The employee indicated that it would be a 2 hour wait. I told him I was given a specific appointment time and wanted to know why it would not be honored. He said, well maybe but he had to go to lunch! Here it is, 3.5 hours later and what was supposed to be a 45 minute job took an enormous of amount time to complete. The General Manager Jesus didn't make things better by rushing to judgement and not having all the facts. He presented a document with the wrong appointment time and when I showed him my documentation with proof, he said it's a misunderstanding. SMH. No accountability! Was the hitch installed correctly? I would give ZERO ...ZILCH stars for scamming young unsuspecting, inexperienced young adults. I told my daughter being a longtime YELPER, you have to read all of the reviews to see a common thread. If this business had so many horrible reviews, go to another location with better reviews! I was her witness but waiting in the car to drive her back home. So she was there on December 15 at 10 am. A girl with a nose ring helped her, but said she couldn't give her a receipt and that it would be emailed to her! Other reviews say the sam eXact thing so this is a SCAM they continuously perpetuate! She is inexperienced and trusting so she didn't think anything of it or say anything, until she got her bill! They charged her for an extra day as if she returned it after 4 pm! Big lesson learned for her and even if you dispute it with the credit card, since you don't have a receipt you are stuck with the scam! I tell her ALL the time and to all of the young people or trusting ones, here are some TIPS next time: 1. Always get a receipt with time if drop off! Even if it is just a copy and stamp of time or they write down time of return and sign it! Refuse to leave until that is done or you speak to the manager. 2. If they still refuse, videotape you handing over the paperwork and returning the truck AND their CLOCK indicating time and person taking the paperwork and telling you they don't give receipts. Get the person's and manager's name. 3. ALWAYS document and have proof! Never be trusting unfortunately, it is CYA when the time comes to dispute! I hate businesses that prey on others especially when money is tight for them already so you know they are trying everything to do it by the book and according to their budget! So BEWARE of their sneaky practices or maybe it is due to lazy employees not doing their jobs!? That is up to the employer to fix! Also it probably is a franchise, BUT report incident to the UHAUL corporate that this location is making their brand look bad and have them investigate or employ mystery shoppers to see how bad the situation is! Also it is probably better to rent from Home Depot and bigger box stores, so at least they are accountable and often cheaper. So big lesson learned for her! The mobile process is complete crap. It is not easier, it is not fast, its actually LONGER, they need to contact your alternate contacts to confirm ... something? I have no freaking clue. All that and you still have to come inside to wait in line to get the freaking key. We left after a good 30-40 minutes waiting to for them to process our details, play phone tag contact with my alternate contact and than of course waiting for the key in line because there is only ONE person working the counter. Definitely faster to just come inside and do the whole process at the counter. read more

Don't do it !!!!! This is the worst uhaul location and their lack of maintenance on their trucks and poor management almost cost us our lives. Long story short one of the wheels stopped turning on the truck as we were driving And quick thinking got us out of harms way and close to the curb. The tire streaks are still on the road as proof. I did as instructed and called roadside assistance... waited almost 2 hours for them to come and verify the truck needed to be towed. I notified Hayward location on Sunday (the next day) that the truck was towed and I wanted a refund. I got a voicemail Monday from Hayward uhaul asking me where the truck was and threatening to call the police on me and saying the truck was stolen. I called customer service and they apologized and said they have clear notes that they towed the truck. I got a refund maybe 4 days later and STILL NO CALL FROM THE MANAGER ... almost 3 weeks now. This is the most stressful experience on top of the normal stresses of moving. Go to a different uhaul and make sure you check the truck the best you can. I Also purchased the extra insurance.
