I came here based on positive yelp reviews. Unfortunately I am not as pleased as some other Yelpers. I had very grown out highlights and came here to be restored to blonde once again from a mousey dark blonde/very light brown. My appointment was with the owner Effie who is very fashionable and has beautiful hair herself. She told me it would take multiple visits before I could achieve the blonde that I wanted which was understandable but I left the salon just hating my hair. It came out with very brassy, stripey, highlighted hair with chunks of hair that looked over processed. Also, I paid $300 for this to be done. It's not THE worst color I've had done but I am definitely sad and feel robbed of my hard earned money :( read more

I have been wanting a haircut for some time now & I finally did it. I called to see if they had any availability and Mina was available within 10 mins, so I jumped on it. It's my first time here, so I just hoped for the best. The ladies are super nice and welcoming. I see why other yelpers made a point to comment on that. Multiple hair stylists commented positively on my choice of style and cut. It really makes you feel more confident on your choices (I showed Mina the hairstyle I wanted). She just made me so comfortable the whole time. I'm happy with my cut & the experience. I look forward to coming back in a few months. I got my hair done yesterday, a day that had me feeling the blues big time. But by the time Effi had done her magic, and all the women who work there had shown me so much genuine care, I left feeling like a new woman--spirit restored. Oh! She fixed a prior haircut at another salon and took such sweet care of understanding what I wanted and how to achieve the look. I will definitely be back! This salon follows all COVID procedures- everyone wore a mask, distancing, hand sanitizer, they also have additional masks if you forget yours. We never know how much we take for granted until we lose it. When I came to DC for work, I lost my long-time stylist in the move. Frankly I have no idea how to tell someone how to cut my hair, so my previous stylist wrote down a list of directions that "anyone could follow." Suffice it to say, 6 establishments and 6 botched cuts later, and after a year of never feeling like myself when I looked in the mirror, I found Effie and her team. I can't say enough good things about this group of women! Not only do I get a great cut, but any one of their stylists can take care of me if my regular lady isn't available. This is the only place to go to be treated like a princess. Everyone here is polite, lovely and caring. Don't expect a hip young adult salon. This place is for adults. The stylists are elegant, soft spoken and kind. Over the last 3 years that Effi, Zorha and all the other stylists have been working on me, are nothing short of incredible. I'm really glad this salon has lots of positive reviews, which is why I chose to come here. However my experience does not reflect that of other's. I came on a Saturday morning without an appointment, but I just needed a quick haircut and a little styling before attending a wedding. I'm not picky so I chose to have anyone who was free. The stylist I had was very nice, but she seemed new because she pulled her tools out of a bag on the floor. It looked nice after it was styled, but after washing and blow-drying myself I don't think it was too special. My experienced soured more when I was paying. The receptionist was telling me about the shampoo deals, which is BOGO1/2 off. I said no thank you and she asked me what type of shampoo I use. When I told her a drugstore brand, the appalled look on her face made me feel judged. My priorities don't include spending lots of money on something that washes down the drain. I understand they are a business and want to promote the sale of their shampoos, but there are better ways to go about that. Anyway, I'm probably not their target clientele of middle-aged women who need highlights and dye-jobs so I don't feel bad for not going back. read more

This place was really great. I had called the day prior to my appointment and I asked if they had anything last minute, and they were extremely accommodating. I only had a couple hours during my finance's lunch break (he was watching our son) and they also really kept track of the time too. Why would I rush getting my hair done, you may ask? Well a month before, I had gotten a terrible highlight job!!! Yuck!! I decided to try and fix it myself. It ended up looking like a hot mess so I wanted it to get fixed ASAP. As soon as I walked in, everyone was extremely nice and welcoming. I had Nicole and she was excellent. She evaluated my hair - I came in with a ton of different colors (yellow, orange, even silver!) and she also asked another lady (who I think is the owner) her opinion. I actually liked that. The other lady came over and evaluated my hair too and it made me feel like they really cared! Overall, it was a great experience. The only time I ever rate a place 5 stars is usually when it meets my expectations and goes above them. Because I came in with a hot mess, i want to go back and see from there. So far so good. Owner Effie runs a good business and she has some excellent, friendly stylists. Rayhanna and Nadia both do my hair (I sometimes just arrive without am appointment so it helps to be flexible). Rayhanna and Nadia are very good listeners--you'll get the cut you want. Also, they are very friendly. When I lived in VA, I went to Titi all the time for my nail services. It may not be the cheapest, and since Titi works on her own, you need to be flexible with your appt time, but to be honest, she does an amazing job with your nails, remembers who you are, even if you havent been back in months, and is just an awesome person. The first time I went to her, I thought I would sit there, catch up on my phone calls and just relax. Which sounds great. But when I started talking to Titi, I seriously left feeling like I had a total therapeutic experience, both with my nails but also with the conversation we had. Eve has a unique sense of hair color and styling. I went in with no expectation, told her I wanted a partial highlight with dark reddish color. She pulled out the color sample catalog and pointed me the color she was thinking, which I agreed. The whole highlight and coloring process took about 1.5 hour, it came out at/above my expectation. She is also a fun girl to talk to, you won't get bored during your time at the salon. Remember though to make an appointment beforehand as it gets crowded later in the day. read more

I'm writing this review in regards to the Tysons Hair Design pedicure services. It's easy to miss this tiny little hair salon, but if you do manage to find it - think of it as finding a little pot of gold at the end of rainbow. Titi, the nail technician there, is pretty much as awesome as you get. She was fairly booked on the recent Saturday I stopped by (lesson - call ahead for her services) and asked me to come back in an hour. Not needing too much of an excuse to check out the other shops in the Pike 7 Plaza I wandered around only to be surprised about ten minutes later by Titi, who FOUND me and let me know that her next appointment was running late and she could fit me in. LOVED THAT. Titi is personable and did a great job. This is a great spot for women working in the Tysons area looking for a workday mani/pedi. read more

My hair is not damaged or dry from all the color and bleaching I do. She does wonders to my hair. My recommendation is based only on waxing services since I have only gotten waxing the few times I have gone in. It is a little more expensive than other places for waxing in the area, but the extra couple dollars is well worth it. The staff is very friendly and approachable. They try to make sure they do my eyebrows correctly and take their time unlike most places. They are gentle and make sure not to burn you or be too rough. They are also very sanitary and take extra steps to make sure the area is extra clean before you lay down. I will continue to be loyal to this place for all of my waxing needs. 5 stars read more

Small salon in a shopping plaza, but the best I've gotten in the DC area since I moved here two years ago! Nicole was my stylist, put in a million foils to color my hair a beautiful blonde. It was super thorough and blended very well as she used my natural auburn color as the lowlight. I've been sticking with trims lately (with layers), so I can't talk about her skill with detailed cuts, but I left with everything I wanted and more! Definitely going back. read more

I was getting my hair cut here for awhile because I am all about convenience. I needed a place that would be able to do my hair, AND my boyfriend's hair. He, having never had a good or great hair experience, needed to be spared the trauma, of another bad experience. So we tried Tysons Hair Design. Our stylist was Rayhana. I think that this place is Iranian and it really worked out well for my boyfriend. He got a really great cut with some guidance. It was short, but not jarhead. It was kind of caesary and cute. Mine was choppy and uh..I don't know. It was alright. Rayhana was really great to work with. And so close to where I worked on Greensboro Drive. OH, and it's right NEXT to NIGHTdreams! HOW convenient!! Anyway, I liked admiring all of the elderly and beautiful persian women in there getting there hair done in full make-up. I have VERY partifuclar tastes when it comes to my hair and it's been a challenge to find a salon that is both consistent and of high quality. I finally have found one in THD. I wish I had found out about this place sooner. I am super picky about how my hair is cut. When I called, I spoke with a lady who put all my worries at ease when she laughed and said in a kind voice "We listen to what you say... don't worry, we listen". When I asked how much for a cut, they said $60. Sounded like a great price so I was still skeptical. I explained to the stylist (Meena) that I wanted layers back in my waist long hair. I wanted 2.5 inches cut off the length since it had been a year since I last cut my hair. She listened patiently and advised helpfully :) She cut just about the amount I wanted. And she gave me lots of beautiful layers to work with. When it came time to styling, I told her that I don't like using a lot of hair products on my hair, and I don't like it when stylists blow my hair out to the point that it loses all its waviness and body. She used only one nice smelling hair serum on my hair. And she gave it a lovely wavy blow out that is still holding the next day. Everyone who has seen my hair since has complimented on how great it looks. I plan to come here again and get my hair cut by Meena :) read more

I got a haircut and a keratin treatment done by Mira yesterday. What can I say- it looks amazing! The frames my face very nicely and the keratin treatment was applied meticulously. I was concerned about getting the keratin done here because there were no previous keratin reviews anywhere but I was pleasantly surprised. Eve did an amazing job with my hair! She understood exactly what I wanted to do with my hair and was super quick. I have long frizzy hair and so I've had problems in the past with the layers--other stylists end up makeup my hair even frizzier. Eve was absolutely awesome and she was not pushy at all about taking off more length. I hate when stylists bully me into cutting more inches off. I know my hair is damaged but I like it long! And Eve got all of the damaged tips without taking more than an inch off the bottom layer. She also did an amazing job blow drying my hair. I look fabulous! I will absolutely come back here next time I need my hair done. Also, I was not kept waiting. Eve was very punctual. Everyone is very polite and professional. Also, they have water and coffee, which is a nice touch. This salon is like a hidden treasure. It is not easy to spot but more people should know about it! They are on the pricier side. Not outrageous but not cheap either. I got a nice discount because this was my first time coming but I was told a cut and style for my hair length (down to my lower back) would be $60. I been getting my haircut here for over 5 years. I can only speak for mens cuts and recommend asking for Rayhanna or Jilla. The prices are slightly above average, but to the cut quality is exceptional - they never forget to get the neck, always even and easy to maintain. I have moved away from Tysons to Arlington and have tried several more expensive places, but just stopped and now take my time to get out to THD. read more

I have been going to Tysons Hair Design for years. I only have the best things to say about Titi, the nail expert, she has been doing my nails for over ten years. She is extremely professional, personable and has the highest standards for keeping the utensils sterile. You won't find a better place to get a man/ped or wax in the area. In fact, when she does your nails it's more like a spa experience when she massages your hands and feet. You will be amazed how good your nails look when she is finished and you will leave feeling totally relaxed. On a personal note, Titi is one of the kindest people you will ever meet. Now, on to the hair services. I get my hair cut, highlighted, and colored by Effi. I have never been happier in my life with everything she does. She is truly an expert in hair. Also, you won't find a more honest person who will truly give you what you want but will also let you know if it won't work or is not good for your hair. She is a true master in all things about hair. She is also very consistent. You will get a fabulous cut, highlight or color every single time. Wow this place is a gem! Totally surprised me! It's not fancy, very unassuming, no frills. I'm used to the opposite so was a little wary when a woman who's hair I admired told me about this place and I saw it. Well, don't let the non-fancy exterior fool you. All the highly rated reviews are right on. Mina cut my hair- she did a fabulous job! Got way more than the price I paid. I'm used to paying double. Also, everyone was very nice and friendly.
