The consultation felt like we were on the same page. I asked for a dimensional soft blonde and a square blunt bob. We looked at pictures and she suggested being more conservative on the cut and then we could adjust and make it shorter at the end if needed. After that everything went downhill. After washing and toning I was brought back the chair. My highlights are very orange and striped. No root smudge was applied which made the highlights look harsh. My stylist then turned me away from the mirror while she rough dried my hair without product then curled my hair all while I was turned away. She then proudly turned me like it was a reveal. I was so shocked I couldn't speak. My color was supposed to be a dimensional blonde but instead was a brassy reddish yellow stripes. The cut was not what we discussed at all. It was longer in the back and shorter in the front. I asked her to straighten my hair so we could discuss the length and shape. At this point her next client came in and was sat in front of her station. I felt like we were now being rushed. She again began to apply heat to my hair with no product and roughly ran the straightener through my hair making my hair look like a broom. She cut more off the back and said I was done. She put some hair product on my hair as I was leaving. I honestly was in such shock I could barely communicate my feelings. I just grabbed my things and left. This is not the place to go if you want a soft dimensional balayage or highlight. I can't believe I paid over $450 and now am frantically looking for someone to fix my hair. I've had two local stylists tell me I need a color correction. My advice is research each stylists Instagram account and choose accordingly. read more

I had one of the worst haircuts of my life at this salon. The stylist CAROLINE was clearly inexperienced, struggling through every step--from washing my hair to the actual cut. I asked for simple, face-framing layers, but what I got was uneven, choppy, and completely unflattering that after a month I'm still struggling how to style. I had to ask another stylist to step in and fix it, but there was only so much they could do. It was too late to undo. left the salon frustrated and nearly in tears, and then they had the nerve to ask if I wanted to leave a tip. I found Bloom Hair Salon online after the salon where I used to get my Pura Luxe treatment in Bethesda closed. I've had the Pura Luxe treatment three times before, so I'm very familiar with the process. During my appointment, my stylist told me that they don't do the final step of the treatment (the protein mask) and that she only re-washes hair after the flat iron step if clients prefer their hair to be less straight. I remember saying that made perfect sense -- I never understood why previous salons would re-wash my hair after flat ironing because it seemed like a waste of the effort. I trusted her judgment since she said she'd been doing Pura Luxe for years. After leaving (and spending about $450 plus a 20% tip for the treatment, and more for my a trim, and 2 Oribe products), I decided to double-check the process online and texted a friend who also gets the treatment. I quickly learned that the final step -- the protein mask -- is not optional and is part of the official Pura Luxe process. The next morning, I woke up with a painful burn on my scalp that had never happened during previous treatments and decided to call the salon to let them know and also ask about the Pura Luxe treatment steps. I spoke with one of the owners, who asked me to send photos of my scalp and confirmed that they do perform the final step and would talk with the stylist. I sent photos of my scalp to the owner, and shortly after, the stylist called me saying she had given me the option to skip the last step -- which was untrue. She said most of her clients prefer not to do it and offered for me to come back the next week so she could finish it. I declined because I had already spent four hours there and my scalp was sore. When the owner called me back, she said she was glad we "worked it out" and that I'd be returning for the final step -- which I never agreed to. The fact that my scalp was burnt didn't seem like a concern / priority to either of them and not once was I offered a refund or any compensation for the incomplete service or the burn -- which by the way was the larger of my 2 concerns. Bottom line: this salon does not correctly perform the Pura Luxe treatment and charges a premium price for it. I left feeling dismissed and gaslit. I'll be finding another salon in the area for future treatments. read more

I did not have a pleasant experience at this salon. I had gone in to get a haircut and of course the hair cut was way shorter than what I had asked for. I hated the haircut, not what I asked for at all. The lady that was assigned to me, I believe her name was Samantha, was also very rough. Pushing my head in all sorts of directions aggressively. I developed a migraine after that visit. Not fun. I should have spoken up but I did not want to make the visit any more uncomfortable. I do have to say the shampoo girl and the receptionists were sweet though, but that's it. Will not be going back to this place. read more

I have gone to this salon several times over the last year. I am usually had a reasonably positive experiences. Jenny is an amazing colorist, would highly recommend her for that. Most recently, however I saw Samantha because I needed a cut and color. The highlights look fine however, the cut is not at all what I asked for. I showed her a picture with long layers and face framing bangs that ended at the base of the chin. However, I ended up blunt haircut with curtain bangs that are so short and can't be tucked behind my ear. The whole experience was not very pleasant or personable. When I said it was much shorter than we talked about she got defensive and was not understanding at all. She also spent a large part of the time speaking very loudly to the other stylus and people in the salon, telling them how damage my hair was, how porous it was how I had such a sensitive, scalp, etc. If I wanted to be publicly embarrassed about my hair, I wouldn't have to pay 300+ dollars for a haircut that is not flattering. Unfortunately because of this experience I will not be returning to the salon and will not recommend to any friends or family members. read more

Best salon in the area and I've tried quite a few! The ambiance is refreshing, spa like, and the salon is always immaculate. They also carry a great product range and use the best of the best during services. I was nervous coming back after Covid but Bloom did a great job following protocols and adhering to safety standards. Nsombi is a wonderful person and stylist, she's warm, gentle, and very knowledgeable. I trust her implicitly with my hair and she does a great job both with chemical treatments and styling. My hair has grown a lot since going to Bloom and it's the healthiest it's ever been. The shampoo experience is always heavenly--so relaxing!! The salon itself is gorgeous with stylish and modern touches, yet still manages to be cozy and comfortable.
