Two Roosters is such a fun and creative ice cream place with their different monthly flavors. For July, they have a podcast series. I ordered a small cup of Nancy Ray's PB M&M Cookie Dough. It's a vanilla based ice cream with peanut butter m&m cookie dough. I thought I loved cookie dough before, but peanut butter and m&ms mixed in took it to another level. Service was quick and polite. The Durham store was clean with a few tables downstairs. They did have an upstairs area, but I did not venture that way. My husband and I took our ice cream to go and ate near a fire pit right outside the store. There is a parking lot nearby as well with other restaurants and stores in the area. If you're able to go before the podcaster series is up, I highly recommend making your way to Two Roosters. I'm looking forward to what August brings for monthly flavors! read more

I absolutely adore Two Roosters - it's one of my absolute favorite staples in Durham to get ice cream. They have incredible "forever flavors" that never miss a beat and a rotating selection of special flavors which are always fun to try. Bonus that they have a large, free parking lot plus it's right next door to Hi-Wire and Cugino Forno if you're looking to grab a beer or slice of pizza. They have limited seating inside with more space upstairs with tables/chairs on the patio. However, most of the time there's plenty of room to sit outside along the open green area facing the entrance. Staff are friendly and most times I recall they allow you to sample up to 2 flavors. For the month of May, their special flavors are ones created by kids - I tried the key lime pie and caramel PB oreo in a waffle cone. The waffle cone was crispy, and held up very well, though I wish had a touch more saltiness/savoriness which I think always beautifully complements sweetness. - Key Lime Pie: 9/10, sweet and balanced perfectly with the slight tartness of the lime. The mixed-in graham cracker crumbs were so yummy and gave a lovely texture contrast. The base ice cream was on the "drier" side and tended to break off in chunks versus being super creamy/melty if that makes sense. I didn't mind it at all as the flavor was on point. - Caramel PB Oreo - 7.5/10, vanilla base with Oreo cookies and Reese's pieces. As expected, definitely on the sweeter side. It was reminiscent of a McFlurry and was loaded with mix-ins in every bite! If you love add-ins to your ice cream, this one's for you! There was only a bit of caramel throughout which was fine by me as I am not the biggest fan of caramel plus I thought the ice cream was plenty sweet already. The inside is not much but the weather outside was actually really nice and there is PLENTY of seating out there. Honestly, I was a little disappointed with Two Roosters, as my ice cream was just OK. I ordered a scoop of "strawberry and honey" and the consistency was pretty decent but nothing mindblowing, and I didn't taste any honey at all. Service was polite and efficient and there was a cute seating area upstairs that offered both indoor and outdoor seating. I was tempted to give this place 4 stars but at the end of the day the food is really the most important thing, and I just wasn't blown away by the flavor. read more

My husband and I went last week and now Two Roosters lives rent free in our minds. We have our usual prospects for ice cream in Durham, but happened to be in the Golden Belt area and sort of stumbled upon Two Roosters. We weren't there for the ice cream but we will be next time! Not only was the ice cream top-notch, but the service was friendly. So often we walk into an establishment and aren't even greeted with a simple hello. Here we were given a friendly welcome and brief "tour" if you will of the flavors / sizes etc. A little really goes a long way and we appreciated it! The location is (dangerously) close to the Hi-Wire brewery and a couple other restaurants. There's plenty of outdoor seating, but didn't notice much indoor space, though we didn't go upstairs.
