In my opinion, they serve the best Cuban tostada in Southwest Florida. The Cuban bread is exactly how it should be--not overly soft or spongy--and toasted to the perfect golden crisp. Pair that with a large café con leche, and you've got the perfect start to the day. Every now and then I'll add a couple of ham croquetas, and they never disappoint. Over the years I've worked my way through much of their hot food selection, including the congri rice, yuca, fried plantains, pork chunks, ropa vieja, and Cuban tamales. Every dish has been consistently flavorful and satisfying. I've even ordered large catering platters for holidays and family events, and they've always been a hit. If you don't allow customers to sit down and eat at 6:15 PM, then YOU ARE NOT OPEN UNTIL 7:00 PM. Change your hours to reflect the actual time you stop serving customers. I even explained to the woman that I had called ahead before coming and specifically asked about their closing time. I told her, "I called an hour ahead of time. You told me you close at 7:00. It's 6:15, and I'm here, and I can't even sit down and eat?" There was absolutely no empathy, no attempt to accommodate us, and no concern whatsoever that we had made the effort to call ahead and come there based on the information they gave us. I completely understand that employees need time to clean and close the restaurant. But you don't start turning customers away nearly an hour before your advertised closing time and expect people to be okay with it. If you need that much time to clean, then your business hours should say that you close at 6:15 PM. This wasn't about expecting special treatment. It was about basic honesty, reasonable customer service, and respecting people's time. We drove there expecting to have dinner, only to be turned away while they were still technically open. Extremely disappointing. Extremely inconsiderate. I will not be returning, and based on this experience, I cannot recommend La Delicias to anyone.
