Beautiful little restaurant in the airport terminal building. Excellent food every time. Very fluffy eggs, my favorite is an omelette with chorizo. Great French toast, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, biscuits. Breakfast and lunch are amazing. The pulled pork barbecue has so much flavor. Pilot friends fly in all the time. Saving grace, food was good, portions were appropriate for the price. The service was not, food was only warm. The cash issue is a problem. Only 1 person, the owner/cook/etc had to do it. Add to wait time. Then went to leave tips to the wait staff, couldn't take it and had to leave in the table. Maybe they have to share tips??? Which I don't believe in, but okay, lowered my tip because of that. Not well run for any group over 2 and only paying with plastic. The first thing was that the picture of the restaurant online is not the same building that the restaurant is in. We actually drove past it before we realized that the restaurant was inside the airport terminal. Their first red flag should have been that there was hardly any vehicles in the parking lot maybe one or two. As we entered we stood around because we weren't sure if we're supposed to seat ourselves or not. It took a minute or two for one of the persons behind the counter to acknowledge us & tell us sit anywhere. We were the only customers in the restaurant at this point yet it took the server about 5 to 6 minutes to get to us and that was after we stood up and walked back to the counter to ask if we're supposed to order online or if there were menus. She finally came and brought menus. We ordered our drinks and she brought those. We told her we need just a couple minutes to review the menu. She sat at another table where she could clearly see us and folded silverware into napkins. We had thoroughly perused the menu and had already decided what we would like to have for breakfast but we sat and waited. We waited probably about 9 or 10 minutes and she finally got up from her table but instead of coming over to wait on us she made three trips from the table she was at to the silverware tray to put the wrapped silverware away. Then she finally came to take our orders. We waited and looked out over the airport for about 15 minutes then our food arrived. Part of a server's job is to assure the food being served is correct. She should have seen all the white lumps and the watery gravy and she also should have noted that the bacon was not crisp. If it still is white in spots and wiggly, it's not cooked crisp. We ordered the cowboy breakfast which came with grits, two eggs, fried apples, a biscuit, gravy, bacon, a sausage patty, a piece of ham, and either hash brown casserole or potatoes. We opted for the hash brown casserole, omitted the grits, asked for the eggs over medium and the bacon crisp. The gravy was like thin soup with globs of boiled flour in it. The eggs were actually cooked correctly but the bacon was floppy, not crisp. The hash brown casserole I had anticipated being similar to cracker barrel but this stuff was nasty. It tasted like they made it with dehydrated hash browns and it was gooey like eating glue. There was no butter or jelly on the table and so we got our server's attention and asked for butter and jelly. Her response, was, "there should have been some there!" Did she think we stole it? I asked if they had apple butter and she said, "the only butter we have is just plain butter." Lol! Apparently she didn't know what apple butter was. We love our biscuits especially biscuits and gravy but the biscuit was left uneaten as was the gravy and the hash brown casserole. For $14.99 I really, really expected a better breakfast. The other entree we ordered was called the wayne. It was a layering of biscuits eggs with soupy, watery, gravy with lumps of boiled flour on top. When our server came to check on us we told her we would like our check and a couple of boxes for my leftover meat and fried apples. By this time there were a few other tables of customers in the dining room but it still took her quite some time to bring our check. She seemed to be the only one waiting on tables although the lady that had been behind the counter when we arrived was now standing at another table chatting. We saw at least three other people in the back and I'm sure one or two of them were cooks. It did not seem that this establishments main priority was the customers. From the moment we walked into the door to the time we asked for our check it seemed like everything else they were doing was more important than waiting on the customer. read more

Was a bit hesitant when I realized this in in the Labelle airport building, but that was quickly allayed when we walked in. Friendly greeting, yummy desert case, what more could you want? Service was great, I felt like we were well known regulars! They have a set up so that you can put in your own order via scanning a QR code on your table, or the servers will wait on you. Even if you go the QR code route, the servers are still waiting on you, bringing drinks and anything else you might need. I had a bacon egg and cheese sandwich, hubby had the avocado toast option (they have clever airport names, but I cannot remember what they were). Both of our breakfasts were very good, we will go back again soon! Our bill was about $28 for the 2 sandwiches and an iced tea. This has to be one of our favorite breakfast places we have discovered in the Fort Myers area. Highly recommend! Great food, great service. Thank you! read more

Well we have eaten here several times but today was the worse! The waitress took forever to come get our drink order. Then we waited for 55 minutes for our order to be delivered. Once delivered she had to go look for silverware....another 5 minutes. They need to greet people when they're arrive. The waitress we had was not very organized and we fault the owner for not training them correctly. One other waitress we complained to said that they receive so many online orders and take outs that the kitchen was backed up. Well I would say that they need to work on their production line and train their people better. The food was hot and delicious as are the baked goods but I don't think we will be back. Bypass ALL the fast food and EAT HERE! This roadside food stand doesn't look like much but the food is AMAZING! We got pulled pork sandwiches, nachos and dessert. Pulled pork was real wood smoked pulled pork, served plain with sauce on the side. Not crock pot "BBQ." Home made cole slaw. Great nachos with real cheese, pulled pork, fresh tomatoes, and not that "cheese" goop out of a can. HOME MADE cupcakes! We happened by during the swamp cabbage festival and got swamp cabbage spice cupcakes which were terrific. Definitely stop here for GREAT food! read more

We heard about Short Cakes from a friend in Alva. It's located in a small, walk-up building...but don't let the modest setting fool you...this is cupcake heaven! We bought one of each flavor and brought them home for our family to sample. Yum! We placed an order for a variety of cupcakes for my Dad's Surprise 80th Birthday celebration to offer a selection of flavors for the guests (which ran the gamut from "meat and potato" types as well as "foodies" accustomed to upscale dining) and they were a major hit across the board! My personal favorites: Watermelon -- sounds weird but tastes just like a Jolly Rancher and very colorful, a decadent Peanut Butter Cup and a Tropical one -- I think it was coconut -- that tasted like a Pina Colada in a cupcake wrapper! They even made a jumbo cupcake to display on the top of the cupcake stand just for my Dad. In addition to the delicious cupcakes, the prices are reasonable for the quality you get and the owner is super accommodating. If you haven't been to Short Cakes...you are missing out!
