Cute menu display!
Evelyn E.

The spot is a hidden gem. It's inside a neighborhood market. I didn't want to go to Noah's Bagels & Starbucks. So I yelped for the closest Lox Bagel... and I realized I've been meaning to go here! So I finally went here to get breakfast before running errands on 7/30/19 around 10:30am. From the moment I entered, I was greeted by every worker I encountered on my way to the back. Not only is everyone so friendly. The market is so clean and organized. You don't feel overwhelmed walking in and looking around. In the back, you have the cafe area with seating and ample room. This may be a great place to get some work done quietly. Although, I've just let the cat out of the bag on that Once I took in my options from the cute display order, I rang the service bell. I ordered two Deluxe Lox Bagels and a Chai Tea with Almond Milk. My food and drink was prepared in a timely manner. Just enough time for me look at their refrigerated section... and... OH MAN! I want to come back from lunch. Their salads look so fresh! There sandwiches are huge! Options are great for the price! Definite coming back to try more take and go meals! And to support the neighborhood market! ALSO, if you are a new momma! They have a MEET-Up available! How nice is that!!! Great way to build community... how can you not want to come here!

Take 'n bake veggie pot pie; prepared at home
Ashley F.

This review would be 5 stars if I had only had the sandwich I came to TLG for. But, I decided to purchase the take-n-bake veggie pot pie and thus, this review has dropped to 3 (2.5, even) stars. Let's start with the sandwich: it was delicious! I ordered the custom grilled cheese which basically ended up being a fancy pesto chicken sammie. I got havarti cheese, country chicken, pesto, tomatoes and avocado on ciabatta bread. The only thing I will say is that the country chicken comes as a sort of chicken salad, with cranberries, celery and chicken cubes in a creamy sauce. It didn't bother me much but I could see someone being very opposed to this if they just thought country chicken meant rotisserie or baked chicken (like I did). Now the pot pie. Sigh. I got it for my fiancé but I ended up just eating it as he doesn't do anything overly creamy. That was not my issue. The packaging is very simple; the only instruction is '375' for 35 minutes'. But if you want the puff pastry to, in fact, puff, you need to remove the top and bake it separately. The taste was decent but there were SO MANY PEAS. I know that's a normal staple in pot pies but sheesh!! If you like peas, then this pot pie is for you:) All that aside, it's a cute place hidden in a market so you can peruse while you wait for your food. I would go back but I'd most likely never get anything from their take-n-bake freezer case, again.

Please look no further for your catering needs. I called the market hall to ask them for their catering services and they were not customer friendly at all. All I kept hearing was to check their website and decide. It was cold!!! On the contrary, the experience with Two Local Girls at Rocky's market, was absolutely delightful. They were warm friendly and were very good about giving recommendations and suggestions based on party size and the event. This is what I needed as opposed to the cold "check our website" treatment I got from market Hall. As for the food, every single dish was amazing. The turkey Cran sandwiches were scrumptious and they had so many wonderful options. Everyone at the event kept asking me where I had the food catered from. You cannot go wrong with the two local girls and Corinne please give them a shot and support our local business in the neighborhood. Ps: ignore the GOT theme;)

Literally one of the best ham sandwiches I've ever had. 5 Yelp stars for this one
Michael C.

Amazing local coffee / sandwich shop in a market. I arrived and they were giving out free coffee today so I indulged. Amazing iced latte (not that it's hard to go wrong) and I almost feel like going back and getting another. Definitely tomorrow! I also had a ham sammy which is insane. Granted I'm a little hungover so most things would be good, but this seriously amazing. Good size too. The staff and service was brilliant with everyone being super friendly. If you're looking for a good brunch / lunch, this is the place to go.

I'm in the process of moving and have been eating pretty badly did a quick search and this place came up. I got a small Kale salad and Chicken Pot pie and I'm completely satisfied and happy. I needed to eat clean and this hit the spot. I think I will add this place to my list of favorites.

I'm forever grateful for that recommendation because they make some of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I've tried a few items on the menu, but the one I always recommend is the Hot Italian. Everything about this sandwich is incredible. It's packed with flavor, and you can honestly tell it was made with care. I usually pair it with a bag of chips, and the total comes to around $18. It's absolutely worth every penny and always leaves me full and satisfied. The shop is consistently clean, and the customer service is always friendly and welcoming. I find myself going back over and over again, then telling myself I need to take a break--only to end up back there a few weeks later. That's how good it is. A couple of things to keep in mind before you visit: there's only limited street parking, so you may have to circle the block to find a spot. There's also not much room to wait inside, although they do have a bench or two where you can sit while your sandwich is being prepared. In my experience, the wait is usually around 15 minutes. I've honestly never been here when it wasn't busy, so expect a crowd. But once you take that first bite, you'll understand why. Great food, great atmosphere, and great customer service. I highly recommend checking this place out!

Each sandwich is made with a level of precision that is unrivaled. All the ingredients are organized in way that makes an otherwise boring sandwich into something you're looking at in amazement. The service has been excellent when ordering ahead, everything is ready on time and well packaged and labeled. Not really an eat in type of place only a few tables. Really for take out only. Weslo's location is definitely a bit discrete and if you're not looking carefully for the sign, it's quite easy to miss. I had a difficult time choosing a sandwich because there were so many that sounded good, but ultimately settled on "The Wentino" ($16.00) -- Genoa Salame, Hot Italian Capicola, Mortadella, Provolone, Mayo, Tomato, Olive Spread, Lettuce, on an herb roll, with extra mortadella for an additional $3.00. $21.04 after tax, before tip. My sandwich was ready in minutes. While Weslo's doesn't have seating inside, they share a space with Loard's Ice Cream, which has plenty of counter seats that you're allowed to dine at. One bite into the sandwich and I knew Weslo's was my new favorite sandwich spot. The bread here has such an incredible texture and tastes like it was just baked fresh out of the oven. The herb roll has a thin, but crunchy crust, and the inside is light, fluffy, and flavorful. I'll need to find out where they source their bread because it's honestly better than some expensive sourdough loaves that I've had from bakeries. There's a generous about of olive tapenade on both sides of the bread, and because the bread is so nicely toasted, it doesn't get soggy at all and holds up well to the mountain of ingredients on the inside. The deli meats here are sliced thin, and there's plenty of it. I'm certain even those with big appetites will be satisfied after finishing up a sandwich here. In addition to the bread and the meat, every element of the sandwich was thoughtfully and carefully prepared here. The tomatoes and lettuce were both cut uniformly, stacking order of ingredients was optimal, and the ingredients had the perfect balance, where the saltiness of the cured meats and tapenade were offset by the freshness of the vegetables. I can't recommend Weslo's enough. People online are always talking about OK's Deli and The Saint down the street as their favorite sandwich spots in the East Bay, but these folks have to stop by Weslo's to check it out. The sandwiches here are some of the best.

The bread (french roll) was soft but without the crunchy crust that should be par for a french roll. The meats were ok, and the iceberg wasn't bad, but not great. Maybe three stars for the sandwich, but nowhere near as good as Alameda's other sandwich shops, Domenico's or Santoro's. The service was bad. First the young counter guy had no idea what I meant when I asked to substitute havarti for swiss. Then he charged me $.80 to "add cheese" to the sandwich when it already had cheese. The older woman (owner?) and another young counter guy then came out from behind the counter and had a long, almost shouted conversation in front of the register, all while eating soft serve. After 15 minutes of that, I approached the counter to find my sandwich sitting there. Not that anyone had bothered to tell me it was ready. Anyway, definitely not going back. I've had their Spicy Hog, steak with mushroom, a few Cubans, but the one that I always come back to is "The Balls" sandwich. First off, this sandwich is massive, so be sure that you come here on an empty stomach. These beef meatballs are seasoned to perfection and bursting with flavor. The balls are covered in their red sauce with provolone and Grana Padano, which gives it that nutty and salty flavor that pairs extremely well with the meatballs and baguette. All the juices and cheese just get soaked up to perfection. The baguette bread they use is supplied by La Farine, which is just a few meters away from each other. Just putting out there that La Farine is hands down one of the best bakeries in Oakland, so it makes sense that this sandwich would be so dang good. I'll be honest that I'm not a big fan of the chips or those chips in general and could be fine with just the sandwich. If you are going to have any sandwich to eat here first, I would highly recommend you try "The Balls" because I promise you will not be disappointed. I will always say that the dozen or so times I've been here, the staff are always so friendly, and the atmosphere is very down to earth.
