I have been here three times since it opened and I have to say each time becomes more and more disappointing.
The latest visit was for their Supper Club which takes place on a Thursday and Friday night. I had heard great things about this after reading some reviews so said I would give it a try with my friend for a nice casual Friday night.
Before getting there I had actually read a fairly scathing review on FB about the staff being rude which the staff had actually replied to in a pretty condescending way, saying that they were very busy and sometimes they can't give all their patrons the same level of attention. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt as that was only one bad review among many good ones. I wish I had paid more attention. That review was actually being kind. I found the staff (including the manager/owner - not sure which he was) to be atrociously rude and obnoxious. The place was dead for a Friday night, probably only 3 or 4 tables were in use, so they definitely cannot use the "we were busy" excuse as they did with that customer. We were there for 2.5 hours and were treated like lepers. We were given one menu, were never asked if we wanted any more drinks, how was everything, and we barely got to order our dessert. Anytime we asked a question about cocktails or coffees, the staff didn't know what was available or whether there was even a menu. It was like the place had only opened a couple of weeks beforehand.
Now onto the food. I understand the point of the supper club is providing a limited menu to choose from, and that's fine. I had seen a picture on FB earlier of the main Chicken dish which looked great, so I ordered that. They obviously used the best picture for FB because what we got looked nothing like it. It was fairly bland and was pretty small versus what was shown earlier that day. However the Bruschetta starter was delicious, with fresh tomatoes and loads of garlic, as was the brownie dessert.
We (eventually) ordered two cocktails. An espresso martini and another prosecco based cocktail. When I saw the espresso martini arrive I nearly laughed. It was in a glass slightly bigger than a shot glass, not a martini glass, and was absolutely disgusting. For a place that markets themselves as coffee experts, I have never had decent coffee there, and this cocktail was no exception. It tasted like horrible coffee mixed with vodka and ice, nothing else. At this stage we were so afraid to say anything to the staff we just drank our drinks and asked for the bill. We really just wanted to get out of there. Then we saw the price of our cocktail. €12 each. Absolutely ridiculous. I wouldn't even pay that in an actual cocktail bar!!!!
Overall this was a terrible experience. This was my third, and last time, going to this cafe and I would never, ever recommend it to friends. read more
