Decided to give Twisted Steak a try for dinner. It's located in the heritage train station and sister restaurant to Mittz. It was empty on a Monday evening (7:30pm). Service was good and steaks were cooked at our requested medium rare. They brought out horseradish when we asked. - Soft sangria ($7.00) - very watered down. - Wings ($10.00 for 1lb) - their Monday special. 10 wings that were slightly dry. Wouldn't order again. - Prime rib ($51.00 for 12oz) - risotto was cheesy, but not too rich, with some delicious mushrooms. Prime rib was a touch fatty but jus was flavourful. - Prime rib ($38.00 for 8oz) - slightly thinner in thickness but similar fattiness to the 12oz piece. - New York ($36.00 for 7oz) - decently sized chunk. We were staying at a nearby hotel and didn't want to go too far for dinner so we decided to try here. When we got here around 6pm, it wasn't busy however we waited about 5 minutes before we were seated. It took another 5 minutes before the waitress came by to grab our order. We were hungry so we ordered steak dinners and a couple if drinks. Another couple came in about 10 minutes after us and were seated beside us. They ordered right away and somehow they got their steak order before us. We waited for about 30 minutes for our drinks and food to come. We ordered medium rare but our steakwas medium well. We were so hungry that we didn't want to wait any longer. It didn't have much flavor and was slightly burnt on the edges. read more

Passing through on our way to Lake Louise and found this gem. We are at the bar with Justin and the service was awesome. He went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our meal and our wine selection. I had the filet and my husband had the ribeye.. both were very tasty and cooked to our liking (medium rare). Have been here many times at the new location downstairs. Normally sit in the bar area. Ordered steak sandwich and ribs before the hockey game. Waited waited and waited. Finally food arrives and now we are going to be late for the game. Well first bite was a good indication of why it took so long. It had obviously been sitting a long time. Both the steak and ribs were cold. Manager guy should probably keep a better eye on his customer instead of doing shots with his customers every time I am in that place. I went in for the caesar because I've been looking for a decent one while on my road trip around Canada. I checked Yelp for local places while passing through Kamloops and the twisted caesar sounded like exactly what I wanted. The housemade bloody mix and Italian deli stick made me excitedly rush over for my first caesar in Canada. It was pretty good! Loved that it was a double, but while too much booze sometimes overpowers the other flavors in a cocktail, this one did it right. Just the right amount of hot sauce--left a burn but I wasn't dying. The deli stick had a piece of salami, mozzarella, pickled pepper, and an olive and was yummy. I was a happy girl. Although I was surprised not to find any salt on the rim when the menu I ordered from specifically said the drink had a salted rim? I love salted rims, but didn't want to ask them to redo it :( My boyfriend, on the other hand, opted for a simple gin and tonic, and it was not made right. His bartender didn't know how to make one and so he asked the other bartender. She said, "it's gin, tonic, and lime, right?" turned to my boyfriend and asked, "is that how you like it?" He said yep, and we waited for our drinks. A third bartender made the drinks. She put sour mix into it (what? no no no, go back, start over) and a lemon wedge (after just asking if he wanted lime). Needless to say, it tasted nothing like a gin and tonic. It was sweet (I guess their sour mix was mostly sweet?), and a little lemony, and hardly any gin could be tasted over the overwhelming sweet, lemoniness. A gin and tonic should taste almost bland in comparison, a lot simpler--just gin and tonic, really; like it's called. There was also a glass with someone's melted ice on our table that was there before we sat down, but no one ever took it away, although the bartender stopped 3 times to check on us and offer us food (though I specifically asked to be sat at the bar when I came in and explained to the person who walked me to the separate room and to the bartender that we're just here for a quick drink.) So, my twisted caesar was a 4, while my boyfriend's drink would be a 1. Let's say the average would be a 2.5, and since I can't rate a half point on Yelp and the dirty glass on our table was never removed, I'll round down to a 2. read more

After traveling for business all day I decided to have a nice meal. Now I was out of my work clothes and put on some jeans and a Harley shirt. Went down to the restaurant for Twisted Olive, the restaurant is called Twisted Steak. I waited inline with the other guests. When I went to put down my name for a table for one, I was told that it was a 25 minute wait and that they would not have for a table for me. I asked about the lounge and was told again they don't have a space for me. I only had the shirt on, the bike was at home as is all my gear. I have eaten here before when travel in my suit, the food is definitely nothing amazing. They have a very understocked bar your best to order very generic drinks or have the tap water they serve. read more

Perhaps I hit them on a bad day; doubtful, but perhaps. I was there on a Monday, after all. I'd ordered a steak with a side of bearnaise sauce and baked potato. It came accompanied with a small portion of charred vegetables, which were the best part of the meal. The bearnaise sauce, I suspect, came straight out of a jar. It was cold, and... glompy is the best word to describe it. Ditto for the baked potato, which came from the kitchen cold. From the texture, it was obviously baked very early in the day, and left sitting out. The steak wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. It was average. At those prices, average isn't good enough. My partner ordered the Twisted burger. He said it wasn't horrible, but the patties on OJ burgers were larger, and lower priced. Won't be back, there are a number of other (and better) restaurants close by. read more

NEVER AGAIN! I took my wife out for her birthday. decided to try the twisted steak. We did not have reservations, but they seated us fairly quickly. This was early , so not much of a crowd. As we followed the hostess to our seats, the "Manager" told her where to seat us. this "Manager " didn't even as much as acknowledge us. I thought this was rude and not at all "welcoming "......welcome to the twisted steak, etc...NOTHING, did not even really look at us. We ended up in a corner where we were out of the way. our server was a very nice young lady who treated us well. We ordered appetizers and rib eye steaks. we waited over 30 minutes before our order arrived. ( another couple came after us, seated beside us and got their order right away). Our order came , and the most I can say was it "was alright". Our rib eyes did not even look like ribeye, looked like a typical steak you would put on the bbq. The edges of our steak looked ragged and , our steaks were of uneven thickness etc... I had gristle in mine. This was not the ribeye that I know and savour! The potato and vegetables were also just "OK" During our time there, this "Manager" went by us at least 4 times, not once " how is your meal? went for an anniversary dinner with my wife. served was very polite and attentive. when asked how I wanted my steak I laughed and the server agreed that med rare is the only temperature that a steak should be served at. my steak arrived without a hint of red in it. it was ten minutes past med rare. I watched my wife finish her risotto and canceled my steak as I didn't want her to have to wait. I would not recommend twisted steak to anyone read more

We dined at Twisted Steak last night with a group of friends, 11 of us in total. I went there with low expectations after reading a lot of bad reviews, but we decided that being with friends was secondary to the food. Our waitress Zoe was a delight! Funny and engaging, and a couple of small mix-ups were corrected quickly and willingly! I found the menu to be quite extensive for a steak house, and this worried me a bit. Why not focus and do a few things really well? Well, let me tell you...all our meals were delicious! My sweet potato crusted salmon with risotto and asparagus in a lobster sauce was to die for! Our group ordered a variety of dishes including steaks and everyone was pleased with how their meals were cooked and presented! I'd like to add that our group consists of several excellent home cooks, so we're not easy to please! Unfortunately, some people will only take the time to write a review for a bad meal or experience. This bothers me as it can have a huge impact on the business. They serve a good, relatively quick breakfast here. My favorite was the bruschetta eggs benny but all was delicious and cooked perfectly, including the kiddo food. Location is easy right at Four points hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed this for breakfast and will definitely go back when we stop through. Decent price for the quality and quantity. I walked into the bathroom and ran into the owner doing lines in the bathroom!!! Same issues from the old location, crappy service, hardly anyone in the restaurant, owner still sniffing sugar all night long. If you expect this place to be better because they moved locations you will be very disappointed. the owner failed with Ricks Grill, he failed with Twisted Olive and he will fail again with this one. You can not live the "sniffing" life style and run a restaurant well. hope he gets the help he needs. read more

Wasn't sure what to expect as the first time we had booked a reservation, the restaurant closed due to no power. The decor hadn't changed much since the old Keg days and it has charm in itself as it was a great place to go to back then. We were greeted by Shamus McNamara managing partner at the door and was shown our table. Our server brought us menus and water. We didn't catch her name but she was very attentive and had great customer skills.. We ordered drinks to start and an appetizer. The drinks were perfect and the stuffed mushrooms were amazing. We both were impressed and were looking forward to our steaks. My partner ordered a nice bottle of red wine to go with our meal. The steaks arrived and the presentation was lovely. I had the 6 oz rib eye with sautéed prawns and a side salad. My steak was cooked to perfection and the seasoning was perfect. My partner was also very impressed with his filet mignon and we definitely will be coming back.. this seriously is the best steakhouse in Kamloops hands down and we are so happy to finally find a place to go to that we feel that we are treated special and the food is to die for. read more

I ordered a $13 waffle expecting a yummy Belgium type waffle and received a fairly tasteless little waffle that I could have made (better) at the continental breakfast at any hotel. Really good. My Peppercorn mushroom flat iron steak was delicious. Could have been a bit more tender, but that's being picky. The veggies were fresh and cooked beautifully. Shrimp and crab mushroom caps appetizers were tasty, but too cheesy. Cajun rib eye itself was great, but who needs Cajun butter on a well cooked steak? The fried onions were painfully salty. Perfectly prepared filet minion with a well done peppercorn sauce. Kudos on the "stuffed" baked potato. It was seasoned rather than just being cheesed and buttered. For breakfast, I enjoyed the steel cut oatmeal, which was enough for two if you added a side. The sage sausages were quite good. They also understand what "over medium " means. read more

Recently had a meal there after hearing a few locals boast about it. Our wait person was awesome, friendly and engaging. The food was boring, very pub -like, nothing exceptional or even tasty. We had the Wine Wednesday special $65 for a bottle of wine with 4 appys...the wine was decent, we ordered the Mediterranean appy that was on the menu but they don't serve it anymore...go figure The Twisted Olive doesn't serve the olive appy anymore (even though its on the menu?) and its name infers olives and even perhaps something Mediterranean?...the decor is mainstream booths with 2 T-bar sections in the center of the restaurant ceiling that are absolutely filthy, I mean black filthy...and when you look into the kitchen ceiling its even worse...overall not impressed at all and definitely wouldn't go back. read more

Appetizers came out, were excellent, and then we waited and waited. After a long time the waitress said the kitchen was behind. No problem we were not in a rush. Dinner arrived at 8:40. Trying to saw in to my torched clearly sat under a light for an hour not sure what it was; the coating (?) was burned on it steak. Told waitress it wasn't edible and asked where the sauce etc was. Told me she ordered the wrong item for me. Said I could wait for a new one. At that point no, everyone else eat. The Twisted Olive was a mediocre restaurant at best. We were seated promptly, however we were seated at a booth for four (the size of our group) only set for two. This was not noticed by our waitress until pointed out by us. Service during dinner was again prompt and courteous throughout the evening. The menu was small and the food was okay. All four of our servings were surprisingly small. I had ordered the chicken parmesan, and it did come with a nice variety of different food such as Alfredo pasta, zucchini pasta, and the chicken. I found the Alfredo to be slightly too garlicky for my taste. Overall, Twisted Olive is an alright restaurant, fit for if you are looking for convenience. read more

Four of us - my husband, myself and two friends - went here for my birthday this past Friday, August 10th and had an absolutely wonderful dinner and a delightful waitress Cody.
