Was very hungry and read some decent reviews so we thought we would try it The restaurant only has 7 tables and they all were filled on a Wednesday late afternoon The staff were very nice and the wait was not long We ordered a fried chicken sandwich and a chick pea zucchini veggie burger and both were delicious!! We felt so welcome in this new city when we walked in to eat. Staff is great and the food was fresh and flavorful. We had deviled eggs for a starter then the lamb burger with fries and veggie burger with greens. The pickled onions and pickles were also great. What a wonderful find this was! Great, fresh food. Nice portions and terrific presentation. Passing through Plattsburgh we took a chance on the Twisted Carrot because we normally like to see more reviews. (There was only one Yelp review at the time because they had just opened.) We read the menu and it sounded good. So glad we went. The wait staff was attentive and had excellent recommendations. We had the Twisted Fries and Zucchini Cakes for appetizers. Very yummy. Our dinners were great too. Nice place, great food and pretty reasonably priced. What more could you want? Enjoy! read more

We're traveling through and decided to try The Twisted Carrot based on reviews. It was early Friday evening and we did have about an hour wait. My husband insisted we wait and we're so happy we did! Aubrey, our server, was so friendly and made recommendations for the special menu, so my husband ordered the special Lamb, I ordered the special squash small plate and we shared the special caramel apple cake with rum soaked raisins. First, the presentation was lovely! And every single bite was heavenly- I could not believe the flavors! I always leave some food on my plate, but I practically licked it clean. It was absolutely the best meal we've had in ages. And the dessert? Hands down the best caramel apple cake and ice cream we've ever eaten. Aubrey was a wonderful server and took excellent care of us. The atmosphere was wonderful and we highly recommend the restaurant. It was the most enjoyable dining experience we've had in years. read more

The cutest part of town has this adorable and good restaurant. This is certainly the place I would hang out in if I were local. Super friendly service, cool ambiance (almost hipster!). The food portions are pretty big and well priced. Tried the devils of the day, decent. The only thing that was disappointing was my espresso shot in my affogato, on the weak side. Here's the problem with Twisted Carrot in Downtown Plattsburgh, New York... I know I'm going to get a lot of flak for what I say, but it would be against my better judgement if I remain silent. THE most obvious, unforgivable problem that this fine eatery has is... they do NOT put pickled red onions with enough of their dishes. I've patronized this restaurant since its opening and all of my meals have had some form of pickled red onion included with them. Until this past week... I was heartbroken... dumfounded... ashamed. It is common knowledge that red onions are undeniably the best species of Allium. In addition to other vitamins and minerals, they are rich in vitamin B9 and folate AKA which can improve heart health. And for your digestive system, they are also packed with good probiotics and digestive enzymes. They also add an acidic element to otherwise base/lipid heavy entrées! I have ordered salads, sandwiches, appetizers, charcuterie boards, soups, specials and ALL have come with some form of pickled red onion included. I went in not too long ago in the mood for a coffee and some conversation and thats when it happened... I ordered the coffee, it arrived and there was no pickled red onion whatsoever. I am still shaken up over it. I can only hope this doesn't happen to someone else. 5/5 stars... such fantastic, creative food otherwise. read more

I had heard great things about the Twisted Carrot, but the reviews don't do this place justice! From the very beginning I was optimistic, and then they brought out the soups: cheddar, potato ale for me, and a chef special pumpkin bisque for my wife. That set the tone perfectly. She ordered the "Not Your Philly" meal, which was to die for! My ribeye was cooked to perfection, with fantastic sides. Our whole table said that this is perhaps the best food in Plattsburgh! Amazing! This place is a gem in Plattsburgh. Wonderful atmosphere and amazing food. The all day menu is full of fun items to share and the entrees are fantastic. I have only ever had the meat entrees and they are very large. I get dinner and lunch out of them or split one with my husband so we can get a few more appetizers. The restaurant does have vegetarian options and I believe a vegan options as well. The wine is wonderful and if you like pinot noir the organic option I highly recommend. It's my favorite! Also make sure you save room for dessert! They are scrumptious. I like to get my own dessert but if your looking for just a few bites you could share. Oh I forgot to mention the service is always wonderful and the staff are friendly and kind! Hands down my favorite restaurant in Plattsburgh. read more

What a great find! My husband and I were passing through Plattsburgh on a road trip and planned to go to Himalaya Restaurant for lunch. Lucky for us they were closed for the long weekend and before we could pull out our phones, our human instincts drew us towards Twisted Carrot next door. Nice selection of apps, salads and sandwiches made with quality ingredients, local, seasonal and many organic. We got the grass fed burger and their take on a Philly cheesesteak. Both cooked perfectly, uniquely flavorful, generously portioned and well-priced. Liked that it came with a nice side salad instead of fries, although I'm sure their carrot-dusted fries are delicious. Coffee was great too. A nice organic french roast from their local CoOp which we ended up going to after for some beans to take home. Service was excellent and the place is elegant but cute and cozy, really welcoming, a truly local feel. We hope to be back for dinner one night. Definitely check it out! read more

First time at this place and would highly recommend it if you are in the area. Quaint little cafe with creative menu. If you like creative dishes with flare stop in here for a quick bite or entire meal. We ended up sharing some starter plates as everything on the menu looked delicious. The special mushroom pate was delicious and paired well with the home made break. The deviled eggs were delightful and change up regularly, we had goat cheese with rosemary. The zucchini cakes melted in your mouth, we almost bought some to go to have some eggs over easy on them. We will be back and suggest you stop in! read more

Small town Plattsburgh doesn't have any great restaurants. The Carrot is as good as it gets. Quiet atmosphere and the best cheese board in town although you don't get enough toast tips and the gin selection is very small. Would be nice to find a place that gets away from the classic Hendricks. All in all, a great place to eat and relax. read more

Super cute space, our waitress was really sweet, Maggie was her name I believe, and the food was so fresh, really delicious! We had a plate of devil eggs of the moment, blueberries and bbq if I remember correctly. Really tasty! We've eaten in restaurant pre COVID and takeout once during the pandemic and aren't disappointed by the taste of the food. The service is very friendly and professional, nice atmosphere inside the restaurant. If I was going to make a complaint it would be the portions size of the fries, an extremely small amount as a side. Potato are a cheap resource, I appreciate it when restaurants are generous where they can get away with it, fries are usually one place they can. It won't stop me from getting a veggie burger whenever I'm in town though, the best I've had hands down! read more
