I was thrown out as a first time customer being accused of doing cocaine by the security manager. Never touched coke in my life. He comes up to me and says he saw me put something up my nose and without trying to reason with me he throws me out. I spent 200+ on drinks and I tried to ask for the club manager and they refused to get him for me. After waiting outside, I catch up to the club manager when I see him outside by pure chance and explained the entire situation and told him to check the cameras and even check my person (I never left the camera view at the front so they can clearly see I never tampered with anything). He says he was going to check for me. After waiting approximately 30 minutes I realized he just made me look stupid waiting outside and never made an effort to come out and talk to me. Unbelievable how they can just assume anything and ruin a night. When they threw me out I was in plain view in the middle of everything and it was an easy observation for them to clear me to go back in. Thrown out for allegedly snorting cocaine unbelievable. And to add to that I came with two first timers as well. I'm in the process of becoming a police officer and to have That accusation against me made me so disappointed and furious because that's against my wishes and well being. I work so hard and this was during Labor Day on one of my only days off to enjoy. I can't even imagine the look on the security managers face if he did check the cameras. This was my very first time at Twist and my last. A patron last night was sexually assaulted by the Manager on Duty via putting his hands down the patrons pants and grabbing their genitals. Said patron escaped to the corner of the bar where I happened to be sitting with tears in his eyes because of what happened. When I asked what was wrong, the patron told me what had happened to them. I have family members who have been sexually assaulted, so the minute this was said I asked the patron if we could talk to the Manager (at this point we did not know the assaulter was the Manager). When the Manager walked up and the patron informed me that was the man who had assaulted him, the Manager immediately kicked us out without so much as a wisp of help from them. When we were escorted out by security both security people looked at us and said many patrons AND employees have been complaining about the same Manager, but ownership refuses to do anything about it. So I called the police with the approval of the patron to have this rectified. When the police arrived, the front door security told them that I was personally belligerent, aggressive and was doing drugs in the bar. When asked for proof, they had none. When the police officer spoke to me, in front of the security, it took him 2 seconds to know the security was lying. The officer then asked for the Manager to come outside, at which point security said no he was busy. He is accused of Sexual Assault, the police are here to investigate and security STILL doesn't help with the situation. It took the police physically entering the premises for the Manager to finally show up and speak to them. Needless to say the patron is suing them over this incident. I'm here to purely let anyone who is interested in going to Twist to NOT and save not only your money, but yourself, as security, Management and ownership do NOT care about you. If you want to go out and party at a gay club, go to Palace. They have a much friendlier staff, better drinks, food and better prices. Not to mention they are bigger than Twist and have a better show. UPDATED: If you look through the reviews even as recent as 2 weeks ago, you see several patrons noticing staff sexually harassing individuals and when they didn't comply, security threw them out. A gay bar that mostly consists of gay men rather than women? Groundbreaking (sarcasm). Seriously, twist can be fun, but it's for men. If you go as a gay girl, be prepared to be the only chick in the club besides the two or three token straight ones that like to hang out with only gay men. People really like to shove in here, too and not say excuse me : ) lol. Anyways, the drinks are actually really good because the bartenders tend to make them strong which makes the place much more tolerable. There's a few different music themed rooms such as EDM room upstairs but my favorite is the Latin room which is downstairs indoors. This is a place that you inevitably end up in sometimes when you're on the beach regardless of how you feel about it. read more

I am probably going to be suing this place for assault and battery. It was my boyfriends birthday weekend and one of his workers decided to place his hands on him and call us degrading names just because we where not moving as fast amongst the crowd from the second floor into the bottom floor. His worker pushed my boyfriend and made him hit face on a wall and called us degrading names and the manager pretty much just gave us a slap on the hands and dismissed my complaint. So see you in court twist, so sad as a Miami native and had spent over thousands of dollars on you bar thought the year on your bar and come to party. A stop in Miami would not have been complete without hitting up some gay bars. TWIST was all sorts of fun for my friends and I on our weekend escapade. The walk over from Lincoln Mall was an arduous journey in the rain, but well worth it. No cover? No dress code? Thank you Buddha cause my ass was wearing shorts, rainbows, and a wet shirt from the monsoon rain. We weren't cute, but we were still free to enter. This club is super spacious even though it comes off hella small. There are different rooms blasting music from hip-hop to jungle, EDM and everything in between. The so-called pop room was definitely Bieber night, and that is not necessarily a bad thing. Drinks here were standard at $10-$11 a pop, and credit cards need to have a minimum of $30 before they can swipe. TWIST hits the mark on what you'd find in places like WeHo or Boystown. You've got your shirtless hotties selling $5 shots of fireball, drag queens roaming around, and go-go dancers. But I must say these dancers were so boring. We needed to get a little more skin from their undies and some more hips jiving. Oh, and maybe a pole. But aside from that, loved the place. I got to reconnect with my old childhood friend living in Miami, and basked in the ambience of hot, sweaty guys. Doesn't sound appealing? Then perhaps the straight bar across the seat is better suited for you lol. read more

I've visited a lot of gay bars across many states from NY to Chicago. This is one of my favorite gay venues. Every floor has a different vibe and it's always a good time. There are some negative comments about the bouncers but I've never experienced anything negative. The servers are always very friendly and attentive. I was here on Friday night (March 18th). Where I ended up being ROOFIED and my phone stolen. I had two drinks and all I remember is using the bathroom to pee and the next minute I'm outside the bar with two Puerto Rican men who were trying to figure out my hotel and room number. I knew I was in a bad spot because I kept blacking out and coming to, I was disoriented, couldn't form full thoughts, couldn't see straight, or use my hands. I'm 30 years and i have never felt like that off of two tequila sodas. The two suspicious men got me to hotel which was only a block away from the Twist and thankfully the phone they stole had my room key in it, this bought be time because we couldn't access the lobby. As one man left to get my room key from my stolen phone two people staying at the same hotel as me recognized me and somehow I was able to tell them I needed help. They saved my life! It took some time for me to piece together what happened that night. The reason I'm giving Twist bad rating is because this apparently is a reoccurring problem there. Another reason is because the door man (older man, gray hair, larger set, sits in a chair checking IDs) saw me being taken away by these two men and he did nothing. I know this because I went back a couple days later to try to see if I could remember more details from that night or see if I recognized those two men and when the door man saw me he said he remembered seeing me that night breathing heavily(in a mocking tone), then continued to check my ID. I was taken back by how quickly he disregarding the whole thing that took place right in front of him. read more

Twist is a blast-so much so I went twice on my vacation. I loved how there were multiple bars (4 in total I believe) and different floors including an outside section. Drinks were STRONG but tasty. They're expensive like everything is in Miami, but the music, no cover charge, and great atmosphere was worth it! read more

We were in town from North Dakota for a day and stopped at Twist for happy hour. It was a great time. Charlie was our server and he was absolutely fabulous! Hilarious, charming, and so pleasant. When we come back Twist will be on our return list! The other guests were pleasant and freely talked and interacted with us "out of towners". I've been coming to twist for years and never had an issue with staff. The women in front was very rude and denied entry due to one person in our group wearing Birkenstocks. The policy states thinly soled sandals which is not our case, when asked for anybody else's option she said she will get security to escort us away. Stay away. Me and my partner have been here a couple of times, as our friends like it. As Black men, it's abundantly clear that we're not welcome here. Consistently, we're blatantly ignored by the bartenders, treated rudely by the bathroom attendants, and made to feel incredibly unwelcome/uncomfortable. Talking with some of my other Black friends, this is apparently a normal experience at Twist. The bar from the outside looked amazing. Walked up to the Bouncer for them to check my ID. And they declined me. It was a official valid ID, and made my two other friends leave also. There were 2 bouncers threatening me to walk away. Absolutely horrible. I will never EVER recommend this place to anyone. This bar is huge with multiple bars and areas to hang out. We had a good time until we went to the bar on the upper level. I requested a top shelf liquor and noticed the bartender not only watering down the drinks, but giving me house liquor instead. When I mentioned it to him and told him I watched him make the drinks, he snatched them away from me and called security and had me kicked out of the bar. Security told me I was welcome to come back the following day, but why would I want to ever go there again? Watch the bartenders and make sure you get what you pay for. read more

Being from San Francisco I've definitely had my fair share of gay night clubs, but I'd say this is one of my favorites I've visited. First of all, it's HUGE. So many different dancing stages with different themes and decor. Upstairs was more crowded compared to others and played more of the edm and techno vibe music. The bar upon entering was the least crowded and still had our usual Gaga and Brittany Spears playing. Drinks were $10 - I'd say average for gay clubs. Staff and bartenders are friendly. Bathrooms were clean and they offer you goodies by the sink which sf clubs do not offer. I'd totally come back here! read more

Almost 6 years to the day after I first reviewed Twist, I'm happy to now give it the additional star I feel it deserves, but at the same time, I'd love for someone to open another bar nearby to 1) Offer alternatives for gay patrons other than Twist, similar to Wilton Manors (Nearby Palace closes early and really fills a different niche), but also 2) To take away some of the overwhelming crowds that pack this place on weekend evenings simply because it's the only option. THE GOOD: - Twist never charges a cover - Always full of friendly, diverse patrons and staff. This is one of those bars where it's easy to strike up a conversation with whomever happens to be seated nearby. - Many of the bartenders have been here for years, and are excellent. Mark back in the Tiki bar, Achilles in the Latin club, Yessie and especially Mario who's been at the upstairs bar forever and is amazing with keeping hoards of patrons served quickly and with a smile. - With 7 different bars, all with a different theme or vibe, there's something here for nearly everyone: There's the bar when one first walks in that tends to play older music on weekends; the tiki bar in back where you'll find lots of boys wearing only shorts, dancing on 2 different platforms and willing to give friction dances for a few bucks. IMO, the host Pusilla who holds court on the microphone there early in the week is amazing and incredibly funny!; There's a small outdoor bar under the staircase leading up to the 2nd floor; Just inside from there on the first floor is a Latin club where they have videos and music from Latin artists and sometimes more traditional (meaning older) Latin music; Upstairs there are 3 bars: At the back is the "Patio" which has a square bar and the same music you'll hear in the disco, but at much lower volume. This tends to be a bar where you can get in, get served and get out quickly; Beyond that, there are 2 other bars on the second floor, each with a dance floor, and both having different music selections - one with a live DJ. THE NOT SO GOOD: - Depending on when you come here, finding parking nearby can be a challenge. This is a Miami Beach problem in general, not specific to Twist - While drink prices here are moderate for SoBe, coming from out of town, people may think it's a bit much to pay $8 for a Corona or Stella and even more for a mixed drink. That said, one must also keep in mind there's no cover to get in - There's a $30 minimum to charge drinks to a credit card. Some bartenders enforce it more than others - This place can become what I'd consider miserably packed on weekends, with patrons pushing and bumping to get through the tiki bar, the outdoor area just outside the tiki bar, and the second floor bar just ahead of the staircase leading upstairs from the back. It sucks horribly when you're standing there having a drink or chatting with friends, all the while being pushed, knocked and bumped (sometimes aggressively) by people trying to get through. - Again, because of crowd sizes, restroom lines can be long and forget trying to actually dance at times, as dance floors get too packed. This is especially true in the Latin club where couples really don't have space to properly dance to salsa and other music because of so many people on the dance floor. - In the tiki bar, when a customer comes in who's known to spend $$$, several of the dancer boys in shorts tend to act like opportunistic vultures, flocking around these patrons who'll buy them drinks, pay for extra attention and on some occasions, take them away from the club afterward. I've been forced out of the way or pressed to move from my seat at the bar by dancers trying to get close to said big spenders, when there were already 3 or 4 others clung to that customer already. Sorry guy, I know you're trying to make $$ and this customer may be a big spender, but he's got 4 other dancers on him already. I'm not moving just because you also wanna try and take advantage. - The guy on the microphone in the tiki bar on weekends who looks like Uncle Fester from The Munsters needs to tone it down or be replaced. People are trying to watch the dancers and enjoy the music, but every 10 or 15 seconds this guy starts screaming into the microphone with damaged, raspy vocal cords, annoying the hell out of everyone. He yells stuff like "PENETRATION!!! - The word of the night is PENETRATIOOOON!!" and "WHORES! - I want you all to be WHORES tonight!!" Seriously guy? WTF is this supposed to add to the experience? Worst part is when you're trying to order a drink, just at the time he starts screaming into the mic so the bartenders can't even hear! Even peeler bars don't have this much annoying banter! - At closing time, all the bright overhead lights ("ugly lights") come on without warning and security quickly starts sweeping everyone toward the exits. All this said, Twist gets 4 stars from me for "I'm a fan", so the positives far outweigh the low points IMO. read more

The reviews regarding phone theft rings are true. We came in here with a careful watch to our belongings. They stole the phone of or friend whom was female. I mention this because to add to the pain, they were called whores by a few members of the gay community in that bar as they were leaving. The security and the staff seem to be in on it given their demeanor. If you are female. Do not come here. Luckily there was a police station next door, and they were able to confirm this had been a contentious issue with this bar. read more

I visited Twist when I was in Miami this weekend and it was a great place to have fun. Lots of options for the bar. As noted here, the prices do seem to change based on the bar, though. While I returned the next night, it is worth noting that there is a definite coordinated phone stealing scam happening at the club and management seems to be flippant about it. While here, four of my friends had their phones stolen out of their pockets. I would recommend shoulder bags and avoiding the dark room of you have your phone on you. read more

ATTENZIONE PICKPOCKET ALERT!!!!! I was in Miami to celebrate my bachelorette. Friday night my phone was stolen from my purse. Whoever took it immediately turned it off so I wouldn't be able to trace it. Shawn (security staffer) did go around to the different bar areas to ask if the bartenders had seen my phone and took me to a different area to fill out my contact info. For the record, I spend a lot of time in DC so I'm always careful in big cities and keep my belongings close. I just happened to be using a new purse instead of my usual lululemon fannypack so there was no zipper to open. I wish I could give a good review, but having your phone stolen while on your bachelorette is really disappointing. A lot of my photos weren't backed up so I've lost countless pictures dating all the way back to 2021 (lesson learned). This bar has a lot of potential, but could really crack down on protecting patrons from crime. Sure, phones are replaceable but memories are not. read more

Got in line last night with some friends from out of town. Was excited to show them Twist as we are all gay and there is limited LGBT bars in Miami! The door person refused my legitimate Florida ID and refused to take my credit card, school ID and pictures of my passport as a second form. We were all really bummed out by the whole experience. DON'T DO IT. I would leave negative stars if that were possible. DO NOT COME HERE. I was having drinks with my friend when suddenly I was ushered out of the door for being "too drunk." As I was being dragged out, I repeatedly said "wait, I don't have my phone!" and was completely ignored. I stood outside for two hours trying to convince the incredibly rude security staff to let me in so that I could get my device. I explained that I was traveling the next day and also needed to contact my friend (who was still inside) to let them know that I had to leave. I also needed it to GET HOME. They kept saying "just leave!" To which I responded...HOW?! As a woman traveling, to not be able to call an uber and safely get home was obviously a huge problem. I gave a dancer $20 for a dance and after a few minutes I attempted to tip him, however, all the cash I had was gone. Nothing on the floor. The dancer walked away without asking for a tip.
