Good shows and events, but expect ~$20 per shots (or one shot and a cup of water) and long bathroom lines.

I personally went to two different bathrooms and encountered resistance both times, with staff being weird and dismissive about allowing women to use the facilities. When I was finally allowed to use the bathroom, the bathroom attendant was extremely rude, rushed me, and then demanded a tip. When I calmly told him that women should be treated better, he became aggressive and started arguing with me loudly, including switching to Spanish and escalating the confrontation. Despite this behavior, I still attempted to leave a tip afterward, which he refused while telling me not to use the bathroom again. Nothing physically dangerous happened, but the experience felt sexist, unwelcoming, and inappropriate, especially for a space that is supposed to be inclusive. I left feeling uncomfortable and disrespected and would not recommend this place to women or mixed groups. Don't forget about the fucking L!

If you want to forget it's a Tuesday night, head to Sugar…read more We dropped in early in the evening, but the vibe was already dialed in. The space feels like a lush, night-sky jungle perched high above the city. With a DJ laying down mellow bass grooves and the Miami skyline fully lit, it was the perfect backdrop to just lean back and vibe. The crowd didn't get the memo that it was the start of the work week; the social scene was out in full force, dressed for a Saturday night and parading through the garden. It's exactly the kind of high-energy, stylish ambiance you want from a Miami rooftop. We stayed off-menu for the drinks but were excellently taken care of. We went through several rounds of Lalo Ranch Waters with Tajín--crisp, clean, and exactly what the night called for. Whether you're looking for a low-key escape or a front-row seat to the city's social energy, this is the spot. Staff was friendly and helpful.

I coordinated ahead of time with the night manager regarding a prix fixe menu that included drinks for our group of 20 ladies. When we arrived, there was unfortunately some confusion. From our prior conversations, I don't recall it being explained that it would be more of a sit-and-stand dinner setup. The space itself was beautiful, but it felt more suited for cocktails rather than a seated dinner for a large group. We were offered another option at the Tea Room on the other side, which had more dining space. I will say the food was excellent--Asian tapas-style cuisine and everything we tried was very good. However, there still weren't enough seats for everyone, and two bridesmaids and I ended up standing for most of the dinner. They did eventually bring out two chairs, but by that point I was already a bit frustrated. Another challenge was communication with the staff. We were being charged for sparkling water when we had asked for regular water, which should have been included with our meal. I also had to remind them that our package included two drinks per person. The drinks came out slowly, while the food came out quickly. I understand accommodating a group of 20 can be challenging, and overall everything worked out with a few bumps along the way. That said, the food really was excellent. I would definitely come back but with a much smaller group or for a date night.

What an extremely disappointing final visit to this location that had become a true tradition to…read morevisit on my rather frequent visits to Miami. Bartender (at bar) poured some water and stated he'd be back in a moment to take order. Fifteen minutes later still nothing. There were two bartenders and (seemingly) a bar manager available. Lots of idle chit-chat and even juggling bar fruit. When finally asked, "Would you like something else" I explained I'd received nothing, and that fault was put back on me. The beverage I received was great. Excellent. My credit card, placed on bar napkins to indicate ready to close out, was ignored for another fifteen minutes. I filled the time enjoying the Final 4 March Madness game. No conversation whatsoever from anyone, including no Thanks. I was seemingly viewed as nothing more than a butt in a seat. I accept that. Now please accept that I review this location and team members as Pathetic ... after formerly giving the highest possible rating. Locals will keep you open, but for only a while.

TL;DR we were blown away by our experience. The service was amazing- Sergio and Savanah, thank you for making us feel so welcome. The bartenders were attentive, chill, and poured perfectly delicious drinks. The food- don't underestimate this place. Best ribs I've ever had: three day brine, delicious and tender, meat falling perfectly off the bone. The sauces were on point - try the Spicy Maple BBQ. The burger was solid and the brine wings were perfectly crispy and juicy at the same time. Loved it. 10/10 would recommend.

Azucar has recently gone through yet another transition, with primary host/MC Marytrini departing…read moreafter a few years here, and taking with her many of the same staff that have seemingly followed her to every club and establishment she's been involved with. We've come here a few times in recent weeks and the place is running nearly the same as it always has for at least a few decades, through changes in drag hosts, management and even changes to this venue's name over those years. We tend to come just before showtime so there's normally always a cover (worth it for the entertainment patrons get to see), friendly bartenders and a drag show featuring talented performers, with at least one normally interacting with patrons and doing comedy during a break in the performances, before opening up the floor for dancing once the show is complete. Azucar isn't located near much of anything else when it comes to nightlife, it's a bit divey - definitely nothing fancy or glamorous, and it's probably not worth the drive from the beach just to check it out, as at least one other reviewer mentioned. Also, all shows and entertainment, aside from lyrics to a few songs here and there are in Spanish with no English translation, so if you don't speak Spanish or have someone who can interpret at least some of the funniest bits that get the most laughs, you may not fully understand what's happening or may feel a bit left out. That said, if you're just looking for a solid drag show or appreciate Latin nightlife, this is definitely an option.

Bachelorettes Only, Peasants to the Left…read more Look, I love a drag brunch as much as the next glitter-loving gay, but Palace Bar needs to stop pretending they're running a spacious venue when it's clearly a glorified runway for bachelorette parties. We showed up for the $60-per-person bottomless brunch (plus that delightful automatic 20% tip they tack on so you don't forget who's really winning), and guess what? The entire center aisle where the show actually happens is 100% reserved for the "woo girls" in sashes and penis straws. The rest of us? Shoved into side tables around a corner with zero view, or worse -- straight-up baking in the Florida sun like forgotten rotisserie chickens. Five queens performed. Two of them? Absolute fire -- serving face, lip-syncing for their lives, and clearly the only ones who showed up to work. The other three? Mostly just wandering around collecting tips like it was their full-time job. Honey, I paid for entertainment, not an extended GoFundMe with jazz hands. The mimosas? More like "mimo-sas." My boyfriend and I are certified lightweights and we barely caught a whisper of a buzz. At that price point, I expected to feel something besides regret. The only saving grace? The gogo-boy servers. 10/10, no notes, keep doing what you're doing, kings. Palace Bar, do us all a favor: either admit you don't have enough space for the crowd you're selling tickets to, or stop giving the "no-view" tables to people who actually made reservations. Let the walk-ups roast in the sun -- at least they'll know what they signed up for. Right now you're charging full price for half the experience, and the queens deserve better than performing to a wall of hungover bridesmaids who stopped tipping after the first round. Would I go back? Only if they let the rest of us sit where the show actually happens. Until then... three stars and a very strong side-eye.
