Based off of takeout. Heard some iffy reviews about this place but still wanted to try it out. The parking lot was super packed and people were walking in and out so we figured hey why not? All these people are here! - - - We ordered takeout while on vacation from LI. We arrived home and my burger had no bun. We asked for one burger with no bun and one with, since my mom is gluten free. My mom went inside in person to order. Not over the phone. My sister ordered chicken quesadillas and she only received a small cheese quesadilla. I wouldn't be that frustrated if the food was delicious but the burgers were so small and like hockey pucks. You can get a better & bigger quesadilla at Taco Bell. Drive the extra 10 minutes into town and go somewhere else. Not worth it. read more

I'm never disappointed when I come to Twin Willows - the service is always great and quick, and I've never had a problem with the food. I love the view of the water & there's plenty of seating and a large bar. Can't go wrong with the burgers, and I absolutely loved the chicken parmesan & shrimp linguine. We went for dinner tonight and sat outside. The service was good, and the food came out quickly. The good news is the Lobster rolls were fabulous, no filler, and reasonably priced for what you get! The calamari app was extremely disappointing, in a town which promotes its locally sourced calamari as the State's official appetizer. It was mediocre and very overpriced ($16) for a small portion, which included too many hot peppers, instead of an acceptable amount of calamari. The fish in the fish tacos was very good but the avocado was not ripe. Overall tonights experience is a 3.5/5. But I'd return tomorrow just for the lobster rolls and nothing else. read more

Haven't gone out to dinner in many months because bringing my 3 kids is hectic. Our waitress Riley was phenomenal. She was so patient with the little ones and even caught my son's water before his elbow hit it. Turns out she's a softball player so it makes sense. She brought out our meals promptly and checked in multiple times. We couldn't love her enough! She is exactly the face this place needs. read more

WARNING: This restaurant is not handicapped-friendly! They have taken all of the handicapped parking spots and turned them into outdoor dining. It's quite a long walk from the parking lot to the door and then you have to continue on to another door. I've lived in Narragansett almost 3 years now and many friends and family have asked me if I've tried Twin Willows yet. I haven't until today.. everyone raved about their food.. and I ask "why?" I ordered takeout this afternoon. The girl that answered the phone seemed rushed. I get it. It was 60° today. Everyone and their mom was out today. I ordered a turkey carver sandwich. Online menu says it comes with bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo, & cheddar jack cheese. I ordered it with no tomato and no mayo. When I got it home it had sautéed mushrooms, one piece of baby spinach and mayo.. no bacon. My husband ordered the black jack burger. It was supposed to come with bacon and it didn't. We ordered the nacho appetizer with no jalapeño... but what do you know, it had jalapeño. I called the restaurant and the girl (a different girl than the first) answered and she was so uninterested in anything I had to say. There was no apology, no nothing. We ate less than half of the $40 worth of food, and threw the rest out. I wouldn't ever recommend this restaurant to friends or family, and I will never go back or order from here again. read more

Nice friendly feeling casual restaurant. You walk in and see a large bar that really looks like a fun locals hangout. Dinning room off to the side with seasonal outside dining. We started by enjoying a large, fresh and tasty wedge salad and Maine steamers. Wee also had bet battered fish and chips that came with fries. My husband felt the potatoes were a bit overcooked. For me this place has so many memories, my grandfather would take my twin sister and I every year for our birthday, so after his passing earlier this year my sister decided we should continue the tradition. When we arrived we were seated relatively quickly which was nice considering we were a party of 6. But as the time progressed, our server was okay until after our drinks came. After that refills were far and few between. We ordered wings to start, an order of the asian and Buffalo and they tasted just like they came from a bag, and definitely soggy. Finally after the wings were finished she came and took our meal order. Most of us got fish and chips, and burgers. I actually split the fish and chips and a burger with my sister. The fish and chips was okay, not too much flavor and crispy. The burger was horrible, over cooked and had no flavor. Overall, I would say this is a good place to meet up with friends after a URI game for a beer, but definitely don't expect top notch food! read more

Unfortunately if you are looking for really good food, service or atmosphere you'll probably want to go somewhere else. The shining star of this establishment is its prime location, if you live or are in the area of south county and just want a local bar/grill without overcrowding, this place might fit the bill. Unfortunately my wife and I have become spoiled with Yelp and the large selection of mouth watering eateries in New England and the slow service and mediocre food killed this place for us. Even the stuffed burger manages to come out over cooked, underwhelming and slightly over priced. If you're in a pinch this place is clean and serves food, but if you're looking for something special I would recommend looking elsewhere. read more

3.5 stars. Food tasted good, but the wait was long and the service wasn't awesome. Had lunch here today with friends. The restaurant was busy, but not full, and the service was very slow. It took the waitress too long to take our drink order and then we waited over 40 minutes for our food. I had the fish sandwich and it was very good. It tasted great and spilled out from the already large bun. The tartar sauce seemed homemade and had dill in it. The only problem with my meal is that the menu said it came with fries and cole slaw, but it only came with fries. My friend had the advocate burger and she was very happy with it. Her husband also had a burger, which he tasted good, but he didn't like that his was smaller than his wife's. read more

This place seems to be the hot spot, upbeat and extremely busy but it sucks! It's so busy that I had to find a server so we could order drinks and food, after we've been seated by the hostess. The portions are small but they have an abundance of flies! They were all over me and my food, and I'm talking about indoor dining. I ordered surf and turf 1/2 lobster tail! (Lol!) and the 4oz(only)Filet was supposed to be cooked medium but it was very rare and I couldn't find my waitress to notify her after sitting there for 15 minutes hoping she would return and since it was not edible for me nor the lack of AC tolerable, I hunted down someone to pay my bill and left hungry. read more

"The Willows" is famous for two things, the Lobster Roll and notoriously bad service. It can be kind of a madhouse in here 'round dinner time in the Summer. I've been kinda' bummed about the burgers lately (OK, for a couple of years now) since they stopped using a hand formed patty. The Mert Burger used to be my go to choice, best burger around, but not anymore. The Clam Cakes are often stellar, as long as you get them served up fresh and the Fish and Chips can be equally good. They serve the fish two ways, battered and with a breadcrumb crust, Tavern Style. Go with the latter. But my favorite dish is one I had today, the Scallop Roll. A light coating of the Tavern breadcrumb crust was the perfect crisp to the butter soft, fresh as can be, scallops. It didn't hurt that the scallops were spilled all over the plate, overfilling the hotdog bun by three or four times. Best meal yet, and I've been coming here for 20 years. They've also added Cottrell's Old Yankee to the taps, joining Harpoon Smithwicks, Newport Storm, ...its getting better. read more

Yup it is a townie place and you gotta love it. I am new to the area, but was told Twin Willows makes the best lobster roll. The natives were not wrong. Great Lobster Roll! Three of us went there for dinner on a Monday night. Cherly ordered Fish and Chips. It was a big portion. The fish was coated with a light batter nothing too greasy. Mark ordered the lobster roll and chowder. I stole a couple bites of the Lobster Roll, very tastey. Lobster meat was piled high and only lightly coated with mayo. (Always a plus in my book). I ordered the Philly Chicken wrap. I was completely surprised by how good it was. The chicken was flavorful and the cheese was melty and good. Twin Willows is a local bar. Nothing fancy just a nice place to have a pint. I hear that Thrusday-Saurday it is packed. read more

There are two summertime RI staples I order almost whenever possible. Most of the time, these staples can be a heartbreaking letdown when they don't live up to their potential, but for those rare bites of glory, I keep at it. I'm talking about: 1. The lobster roll 2. Clam cakes (dunked in chowder) Both are positively perfect at Twin Willows. Butter-grilled New England bun heaped with meat, just enough mayo to bind, celery, onion, pepper. The cakes are clam-erific and humongous without being too dense. Sadly, the steamed lobsters have proved inconsistent on separate visits. Hey, it's not worth a damn if your lobsters are fresh off the boat at Point Judith when you cook that little beast until it transforms into lobster flavored chewing gum. Great back deck with a view. Inside is dim and trapped in 1978, but I like it. The pub food and 22 oz. beers hit the spot as a cap off to a day in lovely Narragansett. read more

I don't often write a review unless I can compliment a business; not this time. I am along in years and I visited your estlabment yesterday along with friends and family. We waited OVER 2 hours for our food. What was very hurtful was when another couple came in much later than we had and they were served in no more than 10 minutes. That was discusting but that wasn't the iceing quite yet. The iceing came when our food was served. Our food was COLD. That isn't the way I liked my fried clams, thank you. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told none was on duty....I will be quite surprised if I ever dine, I guess you could call it that, there again. I live in Bonnet Shores, year around, so I'm one of the people that used to keep you in business in the winter months. I really do hope you miss my business. read more

Nice local bar. Food is very affordable. I love that its family owned. Not a five star restaurant but the place doesnt pretend to be by charging expensive prices. Every bottle of wine is under 40 bucks. We went with 4 of us Food wise : table had white clam chowder, red clam chowder, and clam cakes for appetizers. Everyone enjoyed it. Clam cakes were kinda small but for 3 bucks, who would complain. The dinner entrees were surf &turf (weird combo of fried shrimp and steak), salmon, cod, and linguine with clams. Everyone enjoyed their meal. It doesnt have a "wow" factor to its meals but its perfect for a night out with friends. Had a bottle of wine, beer, and some rum and cokes. Total bill for table was 140. I am a visitor to the east coast from Chicago, so landing in Rhode Island was like seafood heaven. Fish EVERYWHERE. Lobster rolls, crab cakes, lobster...I made a goal to eat some form of seafood delight for every meal. In my journey, I fell in love with the Clam Cake. Part breading, part clam...a true delicacy in my book. I picked up half a dozen clam cakes from here twice in my visit, and my mouth yearns for them now as I write this review. I really wanted to like Twin Willows. As a local to the South County area I had gone there WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY before my Yelping days. Honey & I were looking to go someplace new for lunch & just wanted to try something differnet. After driving around for 1/2 an hour, we decided TW was our place. We go in & sit at the bar. Menus put in front of us promptly...k, we are off to a good start! We order up some drinks, menu looks good, takes us a while to decide what to have because everything sounds good. There are probably 9 or 10 other people at the bar, no one at the tables that I can see. We place our order, I get a stuffie & the Bourbon Street Burger, Honey gets the Fish sandwich. The stuffie came out 1st, it was hot & delish!! Now as we are sitting & waiting for the rest we see the cook come out from the back. He is wearing a home made T shirt that says "Balls Deep" on it....WOW, tiny bit inappropriate! We get our food & try to erase that memory of his T shirt from our minds (we are not prudes AT ALL, but that is certainly not work attire!!!!) My burger is cooked perfectly, fries were a bit greasy. Honey liked his fish sandwich. We are asked how everything was, replied good & then were ignored...were not asked if we needed more drinks, were still ignored when we are done & crumpled up napkins are on our empty plates. Mind you, the bartender was speaking to another customer that was sitting RIGHT near us, and her boyfriend who had come in for lunch too. He was sitting a few stools down to the right of me. So we are smack dab in between the 2 people she keeps going back & forth talking to.....ignored, ignored, ignored. Un-flipping-believable! When she finally decided to ask if we were all set, she didn't even make eye contact. Handed us our check & said "thanks" as she walked away to go speak with boyfriend somemore. Needless to say she got a shitty tip. *******I know someone that works here & spoke to her about it. Apparently this girl works on Wednesdays only...so avoid Twin Willows on that day! Outstanding Steamers. Great service. The whole belly clams were small (expected at this time of year) but they were flavorful and not all breading. Had dinner there last evening. I have been there many years ago and decided to try again. This is the first time I ever give a negative review. We ordered clam roll and fries and as appetizer calamari. The calamari was so tough and overly battered that it was not at all eatable. Clams were tough and also consisted of mostly fried batter. The French fries were cold and soggy. Left everything there. Should I have complained to management "YES" But so disgusted we just left. Never again! read more

Have been in a bunch of times during the last year...and I keep going back. Service is fast and friendly at the bar. A pretty wide menu with both pub fare and healthy dose of seafood. The portion size is big with the prices reasonable (not cheap...but good for the quality and quantity you get) The vibe aims for a clean comfortable local pub...and it hits the mark. I'm not a big "yelper", for what that's worth, but something happened at Twin Willows on Monday that made me want to "yelp"! I can be a big critic of restaurants, been in the business, yada yada yada..... So when something went wrong with my meal, i was frustrated and thinking time to go to YELP! But then the manager came to visit me quickly after my displeasure was made clear and did a fabulous job of turning a negative into a positive! Sorry i don't recall you name Mr. Manager, but i believe you are only in your first week there. They've hired a good one! Once corrected our food was very good and the service great. It was nice to visit an old haunt from, dare i say, 40-45 years ago. Glad it turned into a good visit so i can come back again! read more

no question about it. If you want real, good food, Willows is it. The bar is almost as long as the building - which is pretty wide. There are some views out the back over Bonnet Shores, depending on the fog situation, the season (leaves ON or OFF of the trees) etc. Burgers are great - big & juicy and certainly more than enough. The fries are handmade and usually super greasy - which makes them that much more of a fantastic bite. Seafood is good there too, but when I think of great burgers in South County - Willows is it. Grab a pitcher of beer, a Billburger, and chill out watching the games. read more

A necessary evil. Clam cakes not with a ton of clams. Chicken wings not 100% cooked through. Staff that's good and not attentive. I did like it though. The batter for the clam cakes was good. I wanted more clams, that's all. The wings good, Just wanted them cooked all the way through. Beer fine. Male manager / bar food runner was on top of things. Bar back watched tv to much. I'm always happy when I am able to write a good review of a restaurant, as most of the time I can't honestly do so. Twin Willows is a great casual place that we go to each year when we travel to Rhode Island. There is a large bar and usually a crowd inside, which is not my idea of fun, but there is a nice outside deck and patio area, which we always take advantage of, even when the weather isn't great. Their menu is varied enough so my plant-based eating husband can find something and I can find something that I can put my teeth into, and the food is decent. The waitstaff is always pleasant. Mixed feelings. I came here for lunch with my husband today, we walked in and sat at one of the tables near the bar. We then proceeded to wait 15 minutes to come to realize that no one was coming over to us to take our order. I had to get up and go to the bar and ask why, the bartender then proceeded to explain you had to go to the bar to order even if you sit at the tables. HUH? A courtesy would have been to maybe let us know that as you saw us sitting there the whole time with no drinks or food in front of us. Kinda rude. This has been a South County establishment for a long time and we've been coming here since we moved here in 1986 . . . Our family has always loved Twin Willows with favorites like the Bill and Mert Burgers, the fish & chips and of course the delicious fries. What happened? My husband and I arrived Sunday night about 8:30 and got a tall table in the back to enjoy a drink and dinner. The waitress arrived and took our drink order and we ordered the 3 clam cake appetizer to start. The drinks arrived quickly, but the clam cakes took a few minutes and when we began to eat them we determined it was because they were overcooked and we wished we ordered clam chowder to dunk them. I ordered the classic Bill Burger with no onion and my husband ordered the Black Jack with no onion. The burgers arrived and both HAD onions and each had 1.5 pieces of bacon (1 mostly cooked and 1 barely cooked). The fries on the plates were soggy, room temp and left on the plate upon our departure. The pickle was crisp and fresh. We ordered 2 more drinks and waited. . . and waited. The waitress returned and apologized the bar was out of ginger beer. We were done with our dinner and said "we'll just close out". . . and we waited. . . and waited. She returned with the check and after several minutes returned again with apology to say the computer was down and she'd have to get a manager. . . and we waited . . . and waited. I walked to the car to get cash and asked her if we could pay. She said it was all set and handed me my receipt. We left thinking what happened to Twin Willows. First time I've ever seen a real booster seat available for children, so they started our dinner off on the right foot. Then they also had the option of vegetables instead of fries with the chicken nuggets so they're totally keeping the kids in mind. As for the burgers I thought they were delicious, love the idea of going with double quarter pounders and the option to go with the onion rings or sweet potato fries. Looking forward to stopping back in next time we're in the neighborhood. read more

We have just watched tables that were seated way after us get their food and still no food for us. I usually love this place but tonight was awful! We are now at an 1 Hour 20 minutes still no food .
