We started purchasing Indian art from the Simpson family since before the Twin Rocks existed. It's been nearly 40 years. I've spent far too much money with the family. The Simpsons, along with the Mary Holiday Black family almost single handedly elevated the Navajo Basket to what it is today. They work with the local artists to elevate their art and skills. This is one of the most significant true trading posts in the Country. My home is filled with things I got here. This trip was more about moving through as part of a long road trip. Twin Rocks is SO GOOD!! We first stopped and picked up sandwiches on our way to a lake and they were so good we made it a point to drive back and have breakfast there the next day even though we were staying in Monticello. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful and unique and the service was great. Management here is horrible. I witness a young couple coming in looking for a job and the manager was very rude to them. She acted as if she was slammed and there was only a few people there at the time. Then after they left she was trash talking them. Unreal I will not be back. For a small town I expected so much better. I will not support a place that can treat someone looking for work like that. Great food. Service was a little slow because they had to remake the pancake batter for my breakfast because it didn't turn out how they wanted the first time. We stopped in at Twin Rocks Cafe back in September when we went on a road trip to 4 corners, I was dying to try their indian Fry Bread Tacos! It was a bit out of our way but definitely worth the extra trip! I will say the prices were a little hefty but so were the portions, the customer service was great but the food was amazing. The food was nice and hot when it came out, and the waiter was extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely be making a trip back to Bluff UT specifically to come to this place! read more

What a disappointment. The Twin Rocks Cafe was a regular stop for us between LA and Moab. For years. It was a warm and friendly place full of local folks with good, straight forward food and a wonderful gift shop full of interesting surprises. No more. New owners. The curse of sustainability. The atmosphere has been stripped of it's warmth and charm. The gift shop is a hollow space with a couple of shelves of hot sauce. And the menu is now full of new-age yuppie "cuisine". Three very small pancakes for $13. (With a miniature tangerine!) Where do these people think they are? Beverly Hills? Are they trying to cater to the 1%ers? The ones who can afford to shop at the trading post next door where a single strand turquoise necklace is $9,000. In Bluff Utah? Good luck with that. read more

But be advised that breakfast with coffee for two was $50+ tax so it is not cheap! Twin rocks offers good vegetarian options in the tiny town of Bluff(with only 4-5 restaurants). Fry bread is popular in these parts so of course we had to get it. The vegetarian Navajo taco turned out to be huge and delicious. They also claim to have invented the Navajo pizza which is fry bread topped with sauce, pizza toppings and cheese. Our veggie special pizza was definitely yummy. The reason why they don't make it to 4 stars in by books is due to their service. The food took very long to come out, though it wasn't a busy evening. Well, my most recent visit kind of bothered me. I was pleased that they can now serve fry bread as ash bread (maybe it's been an option before, but I did it this time) but discovered near the end a fairly large piece of tinfoil under my bread. It was obviously there when served. The waitress told me this can happen when they unwrap it. She offered to get me some more tea, and I heard her tell the cooks in the back about it. And that was it. No real apology, nothing offered but another tea refill. No offer to bring me some free pie or reduce the bill or even just give me the $2.50 ice tea for free. Handled poorly. Not cool. You gotta do something for the customer in this situation and they dropped the ball. read more

Oh my gosh. What an awesome looking diner in the middle of Navajo Country. Located at a major junction in the middle of the wilderness, it looked like a road-trip, route-66-fantasy-induced mirage. By the way, when I say major junction, I didn't mean artery-of-modern-America-mega-freeway junction. I meant a major route between the towns in this beautiful wilderness. So beautiful and vast is this country that we could see storm clouds, complete with lightning, hovering over land miles away. Anyway, this awesome looking mirage of a cafe is nestled against the buttes. It has a large private parking lot, a wall-to-wall patio and air-conditioned interior. Half of this building is a restaurant and the other half is a comprehensive gift shop. With a large entry and comfortable and clean restrooms separating the two. There is no wifi anywhere in the area so don't bother. You'll need to upload those beautiful photos some other time. Use this time to be in the moment and absorb the absolute timelessness of this exquisitely stunning land. The Navajo Burger uses fry bread instead of buns. You must try at least one item that says "fry bread" on it at least once while you're in the area. The regular burger is big and juicy. The chicken tenders for the kids was not dry. The kid's meal came with a bag of chips. The fries was spiced and as very good. The service was quick, friendly and efficient. The price was very reasonable. read more

Driving from AZ to Moab, we struck gold when we found Twin Rocks Cafe. Situated in a breathtaking area, we were shocked by the beauty. And then there is the food. Oh my goodness!!!! I had the Navajo taco with traditional chili. So good!!!! My husband had a cheeseburger Navajo taco - two cheeseburgers sitting side by side in fry bread. The Navajo taco shell was the traditional fluffy yet crispy fry bread, topped with chili, refried beans, rice, lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, and sour cream. It was huge and tasty and nicely spicy (not horrible, though). My husband's cheeseburger was a unique and tasty dish, as well. The bathroom is also very clean (a good thing to know for the weary traveler). Oh, and there is ice cream (as if you'll have any room for dessert after the huge lunch servings). Great spot in Bluff, Utah! Seated immediately for breakfast and was greeted by respectful service. Quiet ambience and clean dining room. Food came out in 15 minutes and it was INCREDIBLE. My husband and I stopped into this cafe for brunch on a Saturday, on our way from Moab to Nevada. There weren't many options in the area, but that doesn't take away from the lovely food and service (& view) at Twin Rocks. Excellent food. A short wait is worth the delicious food and you can shop in the gift shop next door while you wait.

The Navajo tacos and stew have fueled many of my adventures while hiking Cedar Mesa, Comb Ridge and the washes off the San Juan. I've twice bumped into old hiking companions while here. Make no mistake, this is not the fine cuisine you would have found at the old Cow Canyon post across the road. But the food is decent (not that you have many choices in town), and the adjacent trading post has some nice native arts and crafts. read more

I'm a fan. The food is solid and just the right mix of local, hardy and creative. Their coffee was very very good (I'm kind of a snob)- a proprietary roast they make. The biggest thing I wanted to call out was the service and accommodation. My father is a strict vegan (medical reasons) and the staff went out of their way to accommodate, and they crushed it.
