Cutest place with great food. Sit down and play some card games while you wait for your food.

Super nice local place. Very home-y and the coffee was amazing. I'm from the Bronx and probably won't make it back, but it's a nice place

Post a hike in the Shawgunks, we were hungry and saw this place got good reviews. We were a bit…read moreearly (dinner starts at 5), but we're seated quickly inside where it was very quiet. It looked like a store rather than a restaurant, but the waitress came by with two menus. We ordered the beets and a cornbread. I wasn't sure if the cornbread was gluten free but my husband said it was good. The beets were great -- spicy and savory. For main courses, he had the halibut and I had the shrimp -- I thought the halibut was tasty (I had a couple bites) and the shrimp was okay (not as much my sort of thing -- I liked the corn but maybe too much dill for me? My husband liked the dill though...) It really is a no frills place though with good food.

The food was delicious. I had the quiche with a lettuce side salad; the spinach artichoke &…read moreParmesan cheese quiche was fresh, hot and tasty. Melted in my mouth. The flavors together enhanced each other perfectly. The person working the cash register and taking the order was very kind and pleasant to communicate with, I arrived a few minutes before 11am and I am thankful I did because as soon as my order was placed the customers started entering one right after the other. People were happy as they entered. The place had a vibe of a friendly welcoming place to eat. I will be going again and become one of the familiar faces that arrive regularly. Cheers !

When I arrived, the welcome felt noticeably cold. I ordered the advertised lemonade, hoping for something refreshing, but what I received tasted as though it had barely a trace of syrup. It was essentially missing the flavor that makes lemonade lemonade. While I waited, the person working there seemed more engaged in conversation with a local customer than with someone new to the establishment. When I tried to ask questions about the place and learn a little more about it, the answers were brief and distant. There is a difference between being busy and making a guest feel as though they are an interruption, and unfortunately, my visit leaned toward the latter. Small, family-run businesses often become memorable because of the warmth behind the counter--the simple feeling that someone is glad you walked through the door. Layla may have that potential, but on this particular visit, I left wishing there had been a little more hospitality, a little more attention to what was being served, and a much better glass of lemonade.

We were promptly greeted & told we would be seated , then they proceeded to ask someone already seated at a table to get up so we could all sit there, I was astonished. We were left at our table for 15 minutes without anyone taking our order ( they were not busy) & were about to leave when someone finally came over & took our orders ( they were out of empanadas , out of avocados & no home fries) Our food came out after another long wait and my husband's food was gross & he didn't even eat it. Nobody came to check to see how anything was or how we were doing. When he ordered coffee it came out in a paper cup - ok no big deal but the creamer came in a small plastic cup that you put a side of ketchup in for fries? At this point we just wanted to leave - check please -
